Vladimir is amazing. I texted him on yelp, and he said he offered free glass repairs and adjustments, even if they weren't his glasses! I stupidly sat on my glasses, to the point where one of the lenses popped out. Vladimir revived them in about 15 minutes, and the fit was even better than before! I'm such a big fan! Vlad was incredibly nice and is now my favorite glasses guy! One of my friends came out to girls night wearing an AMAZING pair of stylish frames - they were so nice we all had to try them on! She told us she got them from this specific eyeglasses shop on the UWS, so I made sure to make a visit when I realized I had FSA money to spend! I loved how much personal attention Vlad gave me, and he literally ran around the shop plucking up gorgeous frames for me to try. A lot of their frames are worn by famous people (JLo! The Rock!), and he referenced specific tv shows the stars wore the frames in. Vlad carries high end frames that you can't find at your average glasses shop, and I love the super high end touches (maple wood! 24K gold! Titanium!). He can also turn your favorite sunglasses into glasses (and vice versa), and he's truly a craftsman. I'm Asian so it's hard for me to find frames that fit my face, and he mentioned that he could add nose pads to some frames that sat too low on my face (they were resting on my cheeks vs on my nose bridge). I can't wait to go get my new glasses once they're ready (1 week to come in from the manufacturer, and another week for Vlad to fit my prescription lenses into them). Vlad also offers repair services! I had a truly 5 star experience here, which was a huge difference from my less than stellar experience at a super popular glasses shop downtown. read more

My eyeglasses were crooked and did not sit correctly. I probably sat on them. I had brought them to Vladimir a while ago to update the prescription lenses. Today In his highly professional manner, he took them into the back and straightened the frame while I waited. Now, they are good as new and sit correctly. Vladimir took care of them as if they were the most important task he had ever done. He did not charge although he certainly should have. I highly recommend this business and cannot express how much I appreciate Vladimir and the eyeglasses he has sold me which are unique and well made. I went in here yesterday as I needed a new set of lens put into my existing frames and it is right around the corner from my apartment. From the beginning, the staff was extremely kind and friendly. All of my questions were answered so thoroughly and the owner explained the lenses I was getting in great detail which I really appreciated. Unlike many other eyeglass stores, they do not send out the glasses to be made. Therefore, rather than being without them for weeks (as I was told by other places that's how long it takes) I was able to pick up my glasses the next morning. All in all a great experience and I will be recommending this place to anyone I know who needs eye and sun glasses. It is the only place I will have them made from now on. read more

I'm just learning now about how the glasses that Vlad sold me have permanently damaged my eyesight. I normally don't like to write negative reviews but I need to warn people about this terrible business. Brought in a prescription for standard lenses. Bought 2 pairs of glasses and had Vlad insert new lenses into an old frame for me. He fulfilled my order ($2200) and I got my glasses and lenses in about 6 weeks. I assumed things were ok - even though when I put the new glasses on, my vision seemed off. Vlad assured me that new prescriptions take some getting used to. I wore these new glasses for 11 months and went for an optometrist last week for a yearly checkup. I was stunned to find out that my eyesight has degraded to that of someone 10 years older than I am! This happened over the course of 11 months from wearing the glasses that Vlad sold me. The reason for this: Vlad made progressive lenses for my new glasses - instead of prescription that I brought in. All of my glasses were tested to have progressive lenses inside them and this is not what I ordered - and the prescription that I gave to Vlad was NOT for progressive lenses. I have no idea why someone would purposely defraud and harm people like this. Now, I'm undergoing vision therapy 3x per week to help reverse the effects, but the Doctor says I probably will never regain my sight to the way it was before. BEWARE this business. read more

Yes, they have very nice and special models. Vlad and his team are friendly. BUT: you have to make up your mind fast. I found my perfect glasses there, but had to get some clarifications from my insurance. Vlad promised to put them aside for me - and when I came back three days later he informed me that he sold them to someone else. Apparently there was no way to track down another pair. Full disclosure-- I live right near this store. So I went there because they were located close by. But what a lucky thing that I did. The owner, Vlad, is not only a really nice guy, but he also knows glasses and optics. It seems to be a real and genuine interest for him. And he enjoys explaining the technology to customers. Anyway, I found a great, comfortable pair of glasses. An added bonus with this new pair of glasses is that they "clip"-- they don't have those little tiny screws that slowly loosen and wear out. So, I got great glasses, and from a nice store owner who is very genuine, and isn't looking to hustle/rush you on anything. I wish more store owners in New York were like that.
