Stopped at Clines Corners Truck Stop during my road trip, and it's definitely a quirky slice of Route 66 history. The place has that old-school charm -- from the neon sign glowing against the night sky to vintage machines that look straight out of a retro arcade. They've got a few fun throwbacks inside, like weight and horoscope machines and classic candy boxes that'll make you feel like you time-traveled to the 1950s. Just don't expect much in the way of snacks or souvenirs -- the offerings are pretty minimal. And fair warning: those fortune machines might take your coin and your curiosity but won't actually spit out a fortune (mine's still pending). On the plus side, the bathrooms were clean, which is the real gold star of any road trip stop! Overall, it's worth a quick stretch, photo, and nostalgia fix before hitting the road again. read more

We stopped here on our road trip to Carlsbad Caverns. It was a typical tourist trap but so much worse. The gift shop area was full of overpriced junk. To top all of that off, the place was dirty and just a mess. The restrooms were even worse. They were filthy. I had a hard time finding a toilet that didn't have poop in it or all over it. The convenience store area was tiny and not well stocked. Poorly run and maintained. read more

This is the only stop between Roswell and Santa Fe, and it's the only stop between Santa Fe and getting on I-40 East. We stopped for gas and drinks. They have tons of souvenirs, and shoes even. It's a big place. There's a subway too. read more

This is a fun place to stop and take a break from the road trip. Bathrooms were clean and have been upgraded since the last time I had stopped. Sure the souvenirs are pricy but this is a travel center after all. The overall place was pretty clean. It is PACKED with New Mexico items for purchase. I wish they focused more on the convenience part of the place because it is very lack luster. 2 really good pluses: Definately visit the hall by the bathrooms. Lots of fun Old Timey machines and games. Next, bags of ice are very reasonable considering it is in the middle of nowhere. I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 because customer service needs some work, staff wasn't very friendly, and also because they need more convenience store items. read more

First of all they lure you in with cheaper gas prices with Chevron, but it's not open. The bathrooms are beyond filthy and disgusting. No one knows anything apparently. The gas station that IS open is way more expensive and hardly any of the pumps work. Steer clear of this place! read more

This place is old and yes needs some updating. It's expensive but it's a fun place to stop at. They have lots of old school candy.

It's always pretty busy, so I do feel like they could use more pumps (but the wait isn't too long) they have plenty of parking too The bathrooms are clean and retro which is a fun change. The convince store section is a bit small but has all the usual stuff. The gift shop is where it's at ! They have tons of things from random dragon statues to state t-shirts to roswell alien things. 6:00 am on the Interstate and I stopped here for restrooms which were in good condition. It's a full travel stop so I was able to get my first coffee of the day and use their free wifi that extended to the parking lot. That was helpful to start my workday with a few emails and such. Big space with lots of New Mexico and Southwest souvenirs - tshirts and sweatshirts and hats and other tchotchkes. There's even a display of locally made fudge for sale. They have alot of cool stuff here. The down side is that much of it is locked in cases that it would appear that only 1 employee can access. The employee with access was standing around talking instead of clocking in (late), and was very rude. They missed out on $400 worth of sales because of this employee. If I ever visit NM again, I won't be stopping here. read more

This place is a great in between spot to stop and get food and souvenirs. And also gas and to just stretch your legs. It's the last stop before Santa Fe coming from Texas way. Lots of nice T shirts and goodies. They also have what looks like home made fudge in different flavors. read more

The cleanliness of the facility as a whole!!! The bathrooms were especially disgusting and soooo many stalls did not have toilet paper or paper towels to dry your hands in female restroom. The toilets and doors were sooo dirty and gross. I didn't want to touch anything. The entrance doors and facilities inside were also just as dirty. The entrance/exit to this place is a nightmare. Especially if you're driving a truck, moving van, or camper. There is no easy flow and when the parking is full it's very difficult to maneuver away from the fuel pumps. read more

Horrible place. RV Park is even worse. Smells like human feces every time I pass by on 285. Prices are RIDICULOUS and food is horrible. You would think, as long as this place has been around, it would be a lot nicer by now.But I imagine there's a lot of drug problems involved with the families that own it. Pit stops are always fun at Clines Corners. Growing up my family would always stop here with a trailer in tow bound for some remote location in the Colorado mountains. It remained a restroom & quirky gift stop as I got older. Late at night, I noticed how said quirky gift shop is not open. The convenience shop & restrooms are though! That was a saving grace on 4/6/2023. Even though fuel prices may be a bit high - $4 per gallon for regular & $4.40 for diesel on 4/6/2023 - I stop here because at night it is well-lit with quite a few pumps - all in working condition. A travel center nearly in the middle of nowhere New Mexico off of I-40, Clines Corners is a decent stop for the traveler heading towards either Albuquerque or Amarillo. A Subway sandwich franchise awaits the traveler, along with a large variety of souvenirs and other useful nik naks (they even sell cowboy boots here). There are also several gas pumps here as well. Customer service is a bit meh. It's kind of a take or leave attitude when suggesting merchandise. In addition to the bathrooms of questionable cleanliness, the entire store smells like the official smell of New Mexico- an open septic tank. The only Land of Enchantment here is a cloud of green fart gas and sewer stink emanating from an aged building. Not terrible stopping here if you don't mind the smell and mediocre customer service. I'm certainly open to giving this place a second chance once they have it fumigated and disinfected. For gas only? Absolutely. read more

I stopped here randomly coming home from a road trip... and ended up spending close to an hour here haha. They have a huge gift shop so there are just so many things to look at from Roswell Alien stuff to Route 66 to Native American crafts!! They also have so many t-shirts and most are really affordable at $12 each or 2 for $20. I ended up buying 4 shirts myself. They have so many designs! Back in 1989, my parents stopped here on our way to a ski vacation to gas up, use the restroom, then eat lunch at the restaurant. We had been on the road most of the day and were starving. Plus I had to poop really bad. While my dad gassed up the car, I went in to use the restroom while my mother went off to check out the restaurant. As I emerged from the restroom, my mother snatched me away in some sort of horrible but silent panic and rushes me back out to the parking lot, where my sister and dad were waiting in the car, telling me to hurry up, that we had to go NOW! It wasn't until we were a mile or so down the road when my mom explained that she had spotted a total murderous psychopath inside the restaurant who she was certain she had just seen the week before on the "America's Most Wanted" TV show 30 years later and I finally return to this place. And wouldn't you know it? As I walked up, who do I see but that same murderous psychopath, still here at Clines Corners after all these years! Yep, there he was, spotted him as I walked up toward the building from the parking lot, the wretched thing! Just laying there on the ground mere feet from the entrance. Mom knew what she's talking about. With just a short glance around this place, I'd have to say there was an extraordinary high number of people hanging about who appear as if they could be on any number of criminal most wanted lists! Nevertheless, this past visit I found the restrooms were less than clean. There were a variety of pubic hairs all over the particular urinal I used. However, I'm not too picky as long as there's a pot to piss in, and Clines Corners has many sufficient pots. When I emerged from the restroom this time, I wasn't taking any chances.
