Ive used many CP locations without issue but this one is bizzare. Usually they are great at getting people in and out, so even if busy they are constantly checking someone in, calling people back for blood draws, etc. This location isnt like that. Waiting room is always full, and no one seems to be calling people back for tests. Twice now I signed in, and waited 15-20 minutes without my name even being called to checkin at the front desk. Usually its a few minutes at most. A person was called back to get their blood drawn maybe once every 10-15 minutes...its bizzare. Both times I had to leave after waiting 45+ minutes with no luck- I just couldn't wait all day. I have no clue why this location seems to run like the DMV but I would avoid at all costs. Theres a location in Jollyville not much further thats way better. Go there. read more

Checked me in, drew my blood, and then told me they could not perform one of the two tests on my lab order (isoPSA). However, when I checked in, the attendant verified with another person that they did perform that test! Now I have to go to a second lab! read more

I got there at 7:05 for bloodwork and did not get my blood drawn until 8:25. It was not that crowded and at nobody was called back until at least 7:45. If you open at 7:00 and all you have are people to check you in and nobody to do the actual work then do not open at 7:00. read more

This location is open on Saturday mornings and is way faster than the Far West location because they have ~5 phlebotomists working. Casey didn't miss my vein like the Far West location! read more

made an appointment on a friday for 3 pm just in case it'd be busy, came in early at 2:30 pm. sent by my physician to get a regular blood draw, so they scanned my paper. it was quick and easy when checking in. i barely had to wait a minute before getting called in to get blood work done! pretty convenient location, super close by! read more

They were clearly stressed out because of the volume of patients, even though no one was hassling them at the windows, and were cold and abrupt when I interacted with them. I wound up at this location on a Saturday a while back purely by accident. You see, I had grown rather fond of the CPL on Angus Road, because it was tucked away in an older, ranch-style medical park--and apparently no one knew it was there. That made for quick in-and-out visits, which was worth bypassing two closer locations that were also open on weekends. As an added bonus, I could always justify my additional mileage with a stop at the nearby Krispy Kreme. Well, the joke was on me that Saturday because the Angus Road location had closed and moved to the new Ladera Park location. I had a little trouble finding it at first, because the signage from the road isn't the best. Of course, as with any address on Jollyville Raceway, reversing field becomes a challenge depending on traffic. You're best off looping back on the 183 frontage road and starting all over again. Once inside, it's a CPL PSC. Nothing great, nothing particularly bad. They were efficient, and I don't recall an extended wait. Would I go back to this location? Sure, if I was in the area and wanted to get it over with. But it's definitely not worth the additional distance now that the James Casey location has new digs. Even my steadfast love for Krispy Kreme can't lure me back. read more

Over the past 3 weeks I have been punctured by "experienced" professionals some 30 times as they tried to find a suitable vein for pre-op surgery, blood work, and IVs. I can't count the number of times I have heard the word "I have never seen this". When my doctor required more blook work, I went to CPL on Monday, 12/5/22. And, as usual my veins were not cooperating to the point that Kayla was called from her busy schedule to help. While she worked diligently to find a cooperative vein, she did this with much kindness and consideration for my feelings. Open Saturday 8:00 a.m. I arrived about 15 minutes early. Plenty of parking. There was a line but the weather was pleasant and there is a low wall that is moderately comfortable to sit on while waiting. I was about 10th in line. As staff was arriving, they each said hello to those of us waiting. When the lobby was opened at 8, we lined up to check in to get an electronic place in order. Okay lobby waiting area. I was called to verify insurance after about 6 minutes. I was called by the phlebotomist [Celia - Gold Stars!] after another 6 minutes or so. Lots of insurance paperwork to review and sign - however, it all seemed to be there. Celia found a vein, got 5 vials of blood from me: the blood-drawing process once we completed the paperwork was not more than 8 minutes. Yes, I would go back to this lab, and would ask for Celia if she is available. read more

It has been 6 days since the blood tests and still no results. Call them and you get "please hold" and then waited 4 minutes before I finally hung up. Finally got in touch with CPL customer service and discovered the results were sent to the doctor the same day as the test. They faxed the results again. Let's start with the positive. Their phlebotomist are very good at their jobs. I'm hard to draw blood from and usually get poked 2 to 3 times before finding a vein. The CPL phlebotomist get me on the first stick every time. Now the negative. This is the most unorganized medial facility I've ever used. They have huge manila folders with doctor's orders. You stand there watching them look at printed lab orders one by one looking for your order. Normally, the will say they never received the order from your doctor. This has happened to both my wife and I for lab orders from several doctors. We're in the age of electronic medical records where the ordering physician can easily prove the order was received by CPL. Because of this, I'm no longer plan on using their services. The location is coinvent for me. However, the complete lack of organization is a deal breaker. read more

Absolutely the worst. Once you get in to get your blood drawn they are fine but zero care about your time. Yes if you have to get blood drawn in the morning expect an hour wait unless you are in line 30 minutes prior to opening. Pro tip-get there 5 minutes before they close. They can miraculously get you through in no time at all when you might keep them from leaving. Why not require an appointment? I would pay extra for a guaranteed time but I do not have 90 minutes to wait for one blood draw. I can get that done faster in the ER. read more

Very professional staff that are here. Computer issues with their system and staff not showing up causing delays getting helped. Definitely a lot of frustrated individuals standing around inside and out - place is packed. Need to get an appointment system and have adequate staffing. Seems like it is a common pattern at this location at least. Not sure about others. Just know going that your time is not valued and you will have no idea how long you will have to wait. Watching people get frustrated and leave. Bad business model. I guess they assume that they have to come back or go to a different location. This is part of what is wrong with healthcare. I had a negative experience with this lab when I came for lab work for my newly born premature baby. It was for bilirubin test. They assigned a trainee to take blood from my premature baby( only 5lb with very little blood in the body). That trainee didn't even had basic information like how much blood to take and what type of prick to use. Blood drawing was very painful for the baby. But I lost my patience when she dropped the ready vial of blood on the floor, it was baby's blood on the floor everywhere. I would suggest CPL corporate should take initiatives to give at least basic training to staffs in this center before they start doing blood bath with a baby with zero knowledge of things. read more

I am a frequent visitor to this lab and I can tell I am very happy with services I receive. Yes there is a long line, can be up to 20 in the morning it opens, but the staff is very efficient and nice to everybody. They even apologize for a long wait. Nurses are very nice and personable always. That's why there is a long line, because they have great systems to process patients and provide great service with a smile. read more

***If you are EARLY, EARLY, EARLY*** Having read the online reviews about the timeliness  (of lack there of), I figured I would get here early to try and alleviate that issue. Below is my timeline: Date of Service: 10/13/2017 - Arrival at CPL (Ladera Park location) and was first in line: 6:22 AM - 1 worker arrives at office: 6:51 am.  ****by this point, there are 5 people in the line**** 2nd and 3rd worker arrives: 6:54 am. ****line appears to be 10 people deep at this point**** Just before the door opens (late opening), there are appear to be over 35 people waiting for the door to open.  Door opened by staff: 7:02 am I am first in line, immediately helped and given a sample container  Completed the sample container: 7:04 am Instructed to sit in lobby and wait for blood work technician to draw blood: 7:06 am Called to other door to have blood drawn: 7:08 am Walked out of the building: 7:13 am All in all, not a BAD experience. I recommend the following to be as quick as possible: Have the relevant paperwork from your doctor / provider as to why you are there. Have you driver license ready. Have a copy of your insurance card with you (either in paper form or ready on you electronic device). Most important thing that I could recommend: Be extremely early as it will pay off in the long run. Don't take my word for it. Just read other reviews about being on time or late for the opening of the business. Expect wait times of 30 minutes to 90 minutes if you aren't literally the first 5 people in line. read more

Clinical Pathology Labs, Jollyville Rd. The only reason for the 2 stars is the phlebotomist. When I walked in, there were two reception windows open. There was a person at one so I went to the other one. The woman at this window was typing. She never acknowledged me. After 5 minutes or so, I went to the other open window. She was also on her computer. She didn't acknowledge me either. So I stood there. When she finally finished she said "what's your name?" Not hello, not anything. I tried to hand her my license and insurance. Her response was " you'll do that later" Wow, do they ever need a lesson in customer service. The phlebotomist was excellent. Good at blood draws, didn't feel anything. She was the Team Leader for good reason. read more

This place isn't as bad as the other reviews make it seem. It's clean and the people are friendly and helpful as long as you help make their job easier. You can help their jobs become easier by: bringing your dr's orders with you and following them, bring an id and your insurance card. Without all of these things, they can't see you. Waiting times are awful if you come in the middle of the day because this is one of the only CPLs in NW Austin. However, they have another location by the Domain off of Mopac that is much less busy. Try that location if you're in a time crunch. However, if you choose this location be sure to get there early. Like, before they open. You'll be done in about a half hour. The women who work the front desk and draw blood are all very nice and helpful. I have never left here upset or feeling like they didn't provide the best care. read more

Don't schedule a "Pediatric Blood draw" online thinking they'll have the correct supplies or take you back at your scheduled time. I work in a doctors office, I understand getting back at your scheduled time isn't always going to happen but at least have the correct supplies on hand for a 10 yr olds blood draw. The tech was very concerned because she didn't have a butterfly needle. I asked her to try, we have to make sure cancer doesn't return. She couldn't get the blood and my daughter was in pain but was a trooper. Asked to speak to a manager about the supplies. No apology, the manager was Defensive! Couldn't believe it. We left after the manager was going to try if she could find the vein, she couldn't. I didn't want her to go through the pain if it'd be for nothing again anyway. Thing is, when I asked the manager why a LAB wasn't prepared for a scheduled "pediatric blood draw" (that's what the online appt portal indicated I was scheduling for) then I should've heard an apology. So no one likes going to get their blood drawn or peeing in a cup right? Well I have a random grouping of medical afflictions that require frequent blood draws so I know this CPL well. I've never felt the need to write a review until today and that's because I finally had a wonderful lady draw my blood. I think her name was Alyssa, young, has braces, sweet as can be. My veins can be frustrating and instead of just jabbing me and hoping for gold Alyssa (sorry if that isn't your name, I wish I would have double checked) spent a good few minutes carefully checking each of my arms until she found just the right spot. Once she did, ZERO pain, like I hardly felt a thing. The last time I was there it felt like the lady was mad at me and trying to slow stab me to death with a needle so this was a nice change. Thank you Alyssa (I swear I'm sorry if that isn't your name and even if it is I'm probably spelling it wrong) for making what could have been a crummy start to my day an actual pleasant one! This would have been a 5 star rating (just for awesome Alyssa alone) but as I was waiting out front in the lobby I overhead the workers behind the desk make fun of someone's last name then again one of them teased the other about how they won't even try to pronounce "difficult" names. That is just plain rude and disrespectful. A little professionalism goes a long way. read more

If it were possible to give zero stars, that would be most accurate to sum up our experiences with CPL. On two occasions, they have proven themselves incapable of performing the orders by the doctor, and most recently, both phlebotomists failed to collect a sample. Mistakes happen, but this is the third time in a year and a half we've had a terrible experience with CPL. I even reached out to the managing director after our first experience and received no response. It's unfortunate that we can't avoid having these experiences over and over. read more

I came here this morning I was the first one inline and had extremely bad anxiety. I only have 1 good vain and was scared that whomever I got to draw my blood wasn't going to get it. Needless to say Shamar was on it, she got it first try she could see I was extremely nervous do to past visits at other places, she spoke to me and continued to reassure me everything was good, she asked if i was ok, she overall knew what she was doing. I have been pretty much traumatized when it comes to my blood drawn. So I want to send a huge thank you to her. She was on point and for future visits I would definitely request her. read more

I would love to give more stars, because the staff was generally nice. However, this is a one-star business. First warning sign: they do not take appointments. Walk-in only is NOT for your convenience. It is so they can maximize revenue by making you wait. The chronically understaffed business model is awful. I was told that if you want a morning blood draw, show up at 6:30am for a line that forms for the 7am opening? Am I at the DMV? I waited an hour to even have my paperwork checked. Then wait another half-hour at least. They have one or two phlebotomists working and at lunch, only one for sure. The waiting room was filled, and I watched after several customers were told after waiting for a half-hour to an hour that their papers were not in order. Maybe it is not their fault, but why not check this upon arrival? I had my papers in order and so I only waited 90 minutes for a simple blood draw that I used to get in minutes at my doctor. And just like my old doc, CPL sends your samples out to a lab for analysis. You're only waiting in this line for the blood draw you used to get at your physician. CPL sends it out too, but you have to take time off for a drive to/from and then wait 90 mins just to get the blood draw. I imagine CPL is selling this as a cheaper and customer friendly option for doctors' patients that need blood and urine analysis. What they deliver is a DMV-like experience that is awful because they are too cheap to staff properly. The positive: the staff was very nice, even though you could see they were clearly overworked and rushed. I will tell my physician: send me somewhere else or I'll find another doctor. I'll never go to CPL again. My time is valuable, and I'll not waste and hour and a half and drive time for a simple blood draw. If your doctor fills out an order for samples and it has the Clinical Pathology Lab form, refuse it. Tell them you'd like other options.. Yes, it's that bad. read more
