I'm the shivery, shaky, arm-throbs-when-I-think-of-shots scared of needles. I've had horrible experiences in the past, one lady could not find my vein and poked four times. But this staff was wonderful in every way. The lady drawing my blood was very kind, patient, and gave me a count down. I was shocked at how gentle she was, how little it hurt. Unfortunately, I got fuzzy vision and passed out, even wet myself in the chair. When I came two both ladies on staff were helping me, very kind, giving me water and helping me to lie down. Nothing but professional despite how embarrassing the situation was for me. After laying down and cooling off I even felt comfortable being poked again to get the last vial necessary for my labs. This location may have the most skilled phlebotomists. I'm what they call a "tough stick", but the staff here are experienced enough to get it done painlessly and efficiently. At other CPL locations, I've had technicians stick me and then poke around trying to find a vein, which is so painful that it sets off nausea and gagging for me. However, I've been coming here regularly over the past year and a half and the in-house phlebotomists consistently do a great job. I'm usually less stressed to get blood drawn at this location. The manager, I believe her name is Liz, is excellent. Some days, the wait can be long--like today, which was about 40 minutes--but the waiting room was packed and only 2 people were working. I also realized this could be due to the holiday today. Unfortunately, I don't have flexibility with my blood draw schedules since they must be done at specific times on specific days. However, if you must do mornings, I've noticed that Tuesday through Thursday mornings tend to be less crowded than Monday and Friday mornings. I only dropped a star because of the occasionally long morning wait times. read more

I'm shocked by the negative reviews. Every time I've been to this location for myself and my kids, the staff has been so friendly, professional and above and beyond with regard to customer service. I went here for a simple blood draw and they gave me a hematoma. I have gotten my blood drawn so many times and no provider has ever messed up this bad. I have a huge lump, it hurts so bad, and is so tender to the touch. I have never had this happen before. All they do here is draw blood, how can you mess up a simple blood draw this bad. she poked through the other side of my vein puncturing it completely causing blood to leak out, pool up, and cause a hematoma. I am very frustrated with this place's lack of care. She was not even gentle and wasn't even paying attention to what she was doing. I am never going back there read more

I've never felt so frustrated sitting in a medical facility. I waited for over an hour just to be seen, and the process is shockingly inefficient. Two staff members handle everything--first the paperwork, then taking each patient back for blood work. That means each person takes 20-25 minutes, so they can only see about four patients an hour. While this is happening, elderly patients are left waiting, clearly tired and uncomfortable. Others had to leave because they couldn't afford to waste more time before work. Watching this unfold was disheartening--it feels like patient well-being is the last priority here. I will never come back to CPL. The leadership, especially operations, should be embarrassed by how broken this process is. Patients deserve better. read more

I've been going to CPL for years. I've noticed that if you go in the mornings they are usually super busy. They do take appointments and walk-ins. So I called just to see if they were busy but they weren't so I went in at 2:30 on a Monday with my doctor's order. I signed in electronically and then waited for the front desk to call me. She was on the phone when I arrived but as soon as she got off she took care of me and she took my paperwork, my license and my insurance card. She made copies and then returned them to me. After a few minutes the phlebotomist called me back. He was awesome. He was friendly and made me feel comfortable. He did the best blood draw I've ever experienced. I hardly felt the needle and the blood draw was quick. I couldn't believe he was done so fast. I had a positive experience here. read more

Don't take your kids here. We have used this CPL for many years but today they were the worst. My daughter pulled her arm back before the first stick attempt and the phlebotomist called her violent and refused to even attempt the draw. Not only was nothing about what she did violent, but when I told him we really needed this draw to determine whether or not she had to go to the hospital today, he suggested we just go to the hospital. He also told us that no other CPL would draw her and continued to call her violent. Calling scared children names is entirely unacceptable. We went to another CPL in town that was much nicer (people and facilities) and got her draw done in one stick, no problem. read more

Walk in. Check in at the kiosk.... don't bother the workers. They might call you to actually check in 30-40 minutes later. Then you can actually start waiting for your actual lab draw. Nice facility but extremely understaffed with zero care about your time 2nd visit. Exact same story but even longer wait. Felt compelled to leave a post over review after having great experiences recently. I've been here 3 times, & they have been incredibly fast (even with a full waiting room). The staff has been very skilled (never even left with a bruise!) & kind. Pretty seamless compared to what I used to experience in LA at Quest Diagnostics. They did great with my 5 yr old as well. I needed to have my 22 month old son's blood drawn for allergy testing. I was so anxious and tried to find someone experienced with babies. It was his first blood draw from the vein and I was terrified of it being a bad experience for him but... These people were WONDERFUL! We were in and out of there fast, the staff was very kind and the man who took the blood was very skilled. One poke, and drew it quickly. My son didn't even cry until the very end when he realized I was holding him there. He usually is terrified of any doctor situation. Thank you so much CPL! read more

Check your bill! They will bill you before your insurance pays. Let you pay. Collect from your insurance and NOT send you a refund. I just happen to notice the small print that said insurance denied stating this lab service wasn't covered. I called my insurance to ask why and found out it was paid in full. Spent the next 2 hours calling and having to find old bills to prove I had paid them to get back my $415.25! That is some shady business. read more

You know that most places are very slow and disorganized and this place runs like a well oiled machine. Plus, the staff was very friendly and they really move people in and out of there fast! I went here in March 2014 and I had no problems. The staff was friendly and polite. I went an hour after they opened and it wasn't overly crowded. The lady who took my blood was very nice. I told her I was nervous, I hate my blood being drawn. She warned me she was in training and asked if i wanted someone else to help me. I told her I was fine, she needs to learn somehow. ;-) She did a really good job. The only thing about places like labs, is the people change often. I would come here again for more lab work over the other CPL locations. read more

This is literally the worst CPL location.. sure it may seem convenient and quick, but it's not, because they will miss things that were ordered and sometimes call you back because of their error. The first time I was there early in the morning, Daniel assisted me. He drew my blood fine but apparently forgot to tell me a urine sample was needed and I received a call at 4:30 pm that day telling me I failed to provide a sample, when I was never asked for one. I returned and despite Daniel still being there, he completely avoided eye contact and couldn't even apologize to me about his error. The second time I went, also Daniel.. failed to get blood for some of the items ordered, even though everything was on the same order. After I had blood drawn that day, I received a call from Daniel about an hour later, telling me I needed to pick up a specimen cup for a 24 hour urine test... he refused to tell me what test this was for, probably because none of the tests my doctor ordered required a urine sample. This particular lab, and especially Daniel, is completely incompetent, bordering on negligent. However tempting it may seem to visit this location, you will regret it. Save yourself a lot of wasted time and go to a different location. read more

Over an hour wait today and they didn't even call my name to check my paperwork. I had to leave because I had a meeting. Absolutely ridiculous. No one seemed to be working there other than one super stressed receptionist. I had to walk away and not get important bloodwork done because of the wait. This is not the ER. This is a simple blood draw that takes less than 3 minutes when done correctly. The waiting room was nearly standing room only by the time I left. Sadly, this experience is not unique to this CPL location. Nearly every one I've visited is severely understaffed with wait times that exceed an hour. I don't have time for this. I'm calling my doctor to tell them I need another option or I'm switching doctors. read more

This is one of the quickest lab appointments I have ever had! You walk in and see a little tv screen to the left. Type in your name and have a seat. Less than 2 minutes later get called up to the desk, give your info and lab slip, have a seat. Less than 2 minutes later, follow someone to a chair and have a seat. Give up your blood and less than 2 minutes later,you are out the door. Quick, easy, painless, pleasant. Just the way I want my blood drawn. read more

35 to 45 minute wait consistently. Not efficient at all. Simply having a dedicated clerk to do the paperwork would allow the phlobotemists to focus on the patients. Especially during peak periods. Will return to the person who comes to my house and encourage my friends to do the same. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. Better not go there if your doctor tries to fax the lab order. Multiple times our doctors have faxed orders for different family members, and these folks claim not to have received. We show up for testing, and they brush you off simply saying that they don't have the order. The receptionists are extremely rude and unhelpful. Our doctors have ended up faxing to other CPL labs in town, and the other labs don't have that same problem. read more

I have taken my son here 3 times and have had very poor experiences each and every time. I decided to dismiss the first experience and give them another chance after the doctor wanted to do lab draws. It appears they have a severe deficit in working with children, children with special needs, and customer service. My son became agitated and not one of the technicians attempted to soothe and comfort him. They looked at me like there was something wrong with him for behaving like a scared 6 year old. Then I get a call that they didn't collect enough blood so I have to bring him back again (hence the 3rd time coming in). When I explained my frustrations and lack of empathy with the staff the front desk receptionist (Vanessa) could not be bothered to even look me in the eyes and gave me a very weak "sorry". I never raised my voice and tried to educate that as adults we recognize the process for giving blood and why it is important, but for a little boy it is very scary. It took a good while trying to track down the original order. Needless to say we will never be back to CPL. If customer service with CPL responds to these posts I will be happy to discuss my observations. I have worked in healthcare for 11 years and there are also a ton of cardboard boxes piled up in the back - not sure how the State looks at the overall cleanliness of the office building, especially when the boxes are situated by the room where lab draws are held. read more

This location is continuously getting slower first thing in the morning. I used to be able to get in and out relatively quickly. People are waiting over 1/2 an hour and not getting processed quickly. Once in process, the staff is nice. It may be better at other times of day but it's been like this the last few times I've visited. read more

Awful. Don't go there as an adult, don't bring your child there. Medical Arts has skilled Phlebotomists that know what they are doing. I brought my son to CPL several years ago, the Tech kept sticking him because they couldn't find his vein so I vowed to never bring him back. After that I took him to the lab on Medical Arts, they drew his blood perfectly first time, no problems, in and out, no anxiety for my kid. However, to save a trip and time (completely my fault) I decided to give CPL a 2nd chance. I told them from the moment I walked in there that I needed the best phlebotomist they had there to draw his blood and explained what happened the last time we visited. The 1st Tech stuck him 7 times and of course didn't draw his blood. 2nd Tech did it but it hurt him. Never again! I don't care what the situation is- dehydrated, can't see the veins whatever the case may be, if you know how to find someone's vein & enter it properly it will give you viles of blood instantly! If you can't draw blood on the 1st stick it shouldn't be your profession! read more

I visited this location in November 2015 and after reading all of the other mixed reviews I wasn't sure what to expect. I live in South Austin but I drove the extra 20 minutes to the Bee Caves office to avoid the James Casey and other CPL locations that have received so many poor ratings online. The staff at the Bee Caves facility were all really friendly and the phlebotomist drew my blood without any pain, discomfort, bruising or hassle at all. I barely noticed the needle was in my arm. I was in and out in about 25-30 minutes and once you sign your name into the touch screen computer they take each patient in a first-come-first-served basis. The Bee Caves facility is easy to find, not too crowded, easy to access and plenty of parking underneath the building in the garage. No appointment needed. I will update this Yelp review if I encounter any insurance or billing problems once my insurance company has been invoiced by CPL. read more

My doctor insisted that I needed to have blood drawn because I am on a regular medication. I drove out to CPL and found there was a line outside the door. I asked are we not allowed inside. The lady in the line said take a look inside it's a death trap. I looked inside and there were people wall-to-wall no mask all within 6 feet. There were people standing within a foot of each other at the front desk to check in. That place is a germ infested mess. No one adhering to social distancing and I saw no plan in place from that business to ensure the health and safety of the clients. I turned around and left. Called my doctor and told her the risk was too great to contract covid at that place. I would recommend that no one go near this place especially the vulnerable population for Covid. It is unacceptable to me what this place is currently doing. I would highly recommend you not go to this place find anywhere else. read more

Horrible service. Bills came months and months after service. Tried to charge me the full amount even though they had my insurance information. Had to call about it twice and both times the person I spoke to was very rude. Clearly this is a very bad work environment to make everyone there so miserable that they take it out on their customers. Do not use this place or anyone who partners with them. It has been over six months since the date of my service and I'm still dealing with these people. I've never been so disrespected by people who were taking my money. Unbelievable. read more

Went here for a blood test and will definitely be going back. Very clean, no weird "lab" smell (unlike LabCorp), the people are nice, the wait was less than 5 minutes, the tourniquet wasn't "omg-my-arm-is-dying" tight (again unlike LabCorp), and the technician got the needle in on the first prick without any drama (VERY rare for me). Service was fine - billing was incorrect, lazy, and unethical. Clinical Pathology Laboratories miscoded the procedure, submitted the miscoded invoice to our insurance company, and were informed by the insurance company that the coding was incorrect. Rather than fix the mistake, Clinical Pathology Laboratories simply sent us the bills with no explanation, hoping we would pay the full amount. We had to do the research and untangle Clinical Pathology Laboratories' error. This is an awful way to treat your customers, Clinical Pathology Laboratories. We'll be looking for a lab that won't seek to take advantage of us. read more
