I'm on the hunt for a new bike shop, and Elite Cycling didn't exactly win me over…read more I popped in looking for a seatpost replacement, and the overall vibe and attitude were not the best. They told me I should just fix it, and to their credit, gave me some tips. The thing is, we're moving, selling our house, packing, etc. and I'd rather they just help out with a seatpost or offer to schedule a time for me to have them fix it. To me, it felt dismissive. I then inquired about a new bike, something I've been excited about the past few years and saving up for. I told them my budget for it which is on par for a small car, and they said "We aren't gonna have anything in that range." I was a bit shocked, and they clarified it's more due to Covid disrupting the supply vs demand. I know that's an issue, but again, dismissive to be shot down when I have the cash ready to go for a good new road bike. Overall it felt like they couldn't wait to be rid of me in the five minutes I was there. I got to know the folks are two now defunct bike shops and actually enjoyed going in to them. This one definitely didn't bring it for me like the past ones. I get it, they're in a high dollar area and can afford to get by without the friendly neighborhood shop feel, but it's not for me, and I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

I've been to several locations in different states and have a good idea what to expect. Lees Summit location is easy to get to and I can typically park up front to unload/load a bicycle. The employees are nice and if it's not fixed the 1st time, they'll do it again to make sure the customer is happy. The inventory was adequate for a smaller location like theirs with different sizes per product line to fit the rider based on their size. They had a good amount of helmets, clothing, water bottles, maintenance tools, and accessories too. Service was good and they're not overly packing their schedule where they'll miss promised deadlines to fix up a bike.

The building is beautiful from the outside, and inside you'll find friendly staff eager to talk. We stayed for a while taking everything in, of note, they have some nice restrooms to boot. It's not going to be open every time you ride by, so if it is I say take a few minutes to stop by here!

They had tons of them on display that looked really cool. But alas, I'll just have to visit another time. The three star review from me is due to the building and grounds being lovely even though the depot was closed. It is normally open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (although I would recommend checking their website or office for details) This is the former Sedalia, MO train depot and it is now connected with the "Rails to Trails" program and the wonderful Katy Trail that goes almost all the way across the state of Missouri. The depot is a beautifully restored building and tours are given but not on my visit (again, so disappointed)...I'm sure it is very cool! If I come back I'll update this review with more details. We explored the grounds. The bike shop and bike rentals were open, however. I think they're owned by a separate entity (Champion Bike Shop if I'm not mistaken). They also had used bicycles for sale outside the depot. There is ample parking here. Additional tip: If you're in the area and so inclined, do check out Daum Museum of Contemporary Art.

I've tried the local bike shop, but damn I didn't think it would go the way it did . I think I'm…read morenow at $150 total to get a back wheel on a kids 24" bike. They installed a mismatch color wheel, my daughter was cool with it so I didn't push it, on the way home from getting it fixed the inner tube failed while in the back of our car, they fixed with no issue. A week and a half later the inner tube failed again, I brought it up, Jacob looked at it and pointed out it was on the inside so it was not from a puncture while riding so that kinda leaves poor installation or faulty products. The worst part was they charged me for it. If we ran over something, I can see that, but it was either installation error, something in the wheel they installed, or a faulty inner tube they installed. Not sure their policy, and I'm sure they'll come back with some wonderful explanation of why they charge me $30 for it but when I asked are they really gonna charge me for their product failing, they didn't seem to care, offered to take half off sheepishly. Nah, if you're gonna charge me, I'll pay full price if that's the way you're going to run your business.

He has been open about a year and is a great community resource. Drew gave me some good recommendations on gloves and then helped a grandpa find a tool that he didn't have in his toolbox. I bought a great pair of gloves for market price. I did t look at bike prices, but there was a good selection of new and used. When heading out Drew checked if the trail was opened for me, glad he did, it saved me a disappointing trip. Great customer service! The young man at the register was very friendly and Ingot a free sticker. A great resource for a new bike or bike repair.
