I took my bike in for a spring tuneup this year. The staff at the Bicycle Shack was very helpful. Jason and his crew did a great job tuning up my bike and getting it ready for the summer months and the riding I will be doing. I have a Veego E bike and they took care of it in a spectacular fashion. Everything is as good as new. I look forward to visiting them whenever I need help. Best bike shopping experience period! I'm a very cautious/thorough shopper (she would say indecisive and picky! ). But I want find not only a good deal, but I want a good experience. Went to several bike shops, some close by and some further away. I cannot thank Jason and team enough for their attentiveness and passion in helping us find a couple of hybrid's. We are in love with our Marin's! Perfect for tooling about Boulder while on vacation and on RIT! I am thoroughly impressed time and time again with the Bicycle Shack. Everyone I've encountered who works at TBS is very friendly, helpful, NOT pushy, and knowledgeable. I'm a complete newb at cycling, but they've taught me how to change a flat, prepared me (successfully) for my first race, and have invited me on their group rides. The dudes who work at The Bicycle Shack are truly great guys who know their stuff. I've been to several other shops in the area, but this place has won me over. I recommend them to anyone, from beginner to advanced. My favorite part about this shop is they do not make me feel stupid or forced into buying anything. I feel like they give honest recommendations and suggestions, without making me feel like I am forced to make any sure and fast decisions. My Fuji Absolute was misbehaving after our move. Just when I was heading out to rise for my favorite cause, Obliteride, chain was jumping off and could keep her in gear. Limped home and called Bicycle Shack. Zack said 'bring it by and we'll see what we can do'. All I could hear is the clock ticking...those miles are not going to ride themselves. Josh called the next day--a new cable at a very reasonable price, plus she was ready. Took her out for a quick ride whan I got home--she rides like butter! Good bye, poltergeist shifting. Wheeeeee! Quite simply, The Bicycle Shack is my gold standard that I compare ANY bicycle shop against nationwide. And it all comes down to SERVICE! It's not a big shop, but what they lack in square footage is made up by a very knowledgeable staff. Yes they have new bikes, and they're good at helping you pick one out. Bike racks? Yep, they know them well and will tell you what works. Tubes? Supplies? Chemicals? Yep, got 'em and at competitive prices too. The best part of TBS for me is in the back, in the shop. You take a bike to them and you can count on it being fixed right the first time. They've suggested upgrades that have made my bikes better. And even when I've mangled things up they've been able to fix it and get me back on the trail fairly quickly. And all of this is done without the snotty, holier than thou attitude you'll find at other places. While I have moved to Las Vegas, KC is still home, and I still have 2 bikes in KC for my use when I get to go home. And there's only one place I will take them to be serviced. They are often busy working away on bikes in service, which just shows how much of a go-to shop they are for many people. Most important to me, they will not only do the work for you, but they are also supportive of you doing your own work on your bike project and will sell you parts and give bits of guidance along the way. Awhile back, I needed a road bike for a long distance ride that was quickly around the corner. This place was like the ONLY shop in the KC area that provided that and even gave me a discount for the length of the rental. The Fuji bike was in great condition and lasted the wear/tear of the journey and because of that, I'm always eyeing one for myself. Very helpful and friendly. I need a tire fixed and asked if I should come back later to pick it up. They said I could but I would be wasting my time. As it only took 5 minutes. I had a great experience at the Bike Shack yesterday. My son's 24 inch Diamondback bike had a busted steering tube. I first took the bike to two other shops, who both said they couldn't fix it. The owner of the shop looked at the bike and figured out what was wrong with it. Twenty dollars later my kid's bike is completely fixed! Amazing!!! I will definitely buy my next bike from these guys! read more

They might be good at fixing mountain bikes (not sure), but they definitely don't know how to fix flatland BMX bikes. They are nice and reasonably priced, but you'd be better off fixing it yourself if you ride BMX. I'll give them 3 stars for being nice and reasonable, but 2.5 stars is more appropriate. read more
