I've been a fan of the Clipp app and magazine for sometime in the customer service has been good recently. I've had two different vendors. Tell me that they do not honor the discounts that I buy from the app and I have not been able to get my full credits back from Clipp and it's embarrassing when you go in and they tell you that they do not accept the discount. The vendors both have said that they did not want to advertise with Clipp and today. They are still on the Clipp site that you can buy the discounts. I think I'm over the Clipp deals. read more

They should not sell certificates for businesses that do not accept them. Out $60.00 and they won't make it good.

They sell you certificates that restaurants don't accept. Then the pretty much have no support phone number or chat to get refunded. The phone number goes into a residential voice mail and there is no chat. Seems like a total scam read more

Magazine has a restaurant buy $20 fo $10 with QR code on the front page and you scan and there isn't even a deal for that coupon. That happens at least once per issue this last year. I wish the restaurant would stop supporting this company and offer the discount to their customers because then we could actually partake in the deal. It seems like they use false coupons to get clicks on the website/ app. read more

I purchased a $15 discount certificate for a restaurant in my hometown. When I tried to redeem it the merchant refused. My certificate was NOT expired. They just decided to stop accepting them. Clipp refused to refund my money citing time constraints or some other BS. ​ read more

Clipp.com sells restaurant and other deal certificates at a discount. When they work, they are a good value. But in my own experience, in the past year, the deals I purchased were REFUSED by the restaurants 3 out of 5 times. In the "fine print", Clipp will not give consumers full credit for non - working certificates after the first two months, even though they are clearly marked as being good for 5 to 6 months. Obviously consumers won't know if a certificate is declined until one tries to use them, which legitimately can be several months after purchase. So by not providing full credit, clipp makes a profit off of useless certificates. I consider this a partial scam. Buy certificates from clipp ONLY IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE ONE IMMEDIATELY, AND ONLY IF THERE IS ANOTHER RESTAURANT FOR WHICH YOU WOULD BE WILLING TO TRADE . read more

Island Flava was contacted by Carrie Moody, who stated she was representing Clipp Magazine, a company we were not previously familiar with. Carrie explained that Clipp Magazine would provide free advertising services, repeatedly emphasizing that the cost was $0, that there would be no financial obligation, and that we would be signing a "zero-dollar contract." Because of the repeated emphasis that there was no cost involved, we agreed to move forward. At no point were we informed of future charges, renewal fees, or any financial liability. Had any cost been disclosed, we would not have agreed to participate. Shortly after the advertising began, Island Flava started experiencing significant customer confusion. Customers arrived expecting specific menu items--particularly higher-priced items such as oxtails--that were never advertised or offered by Island Flava at those prices. This created repeated misunderstandings at our location. In good faith, Island Flava honored many of these customers despite the loss it caused. In cases where we could not honor the expected items, we still accommodated customers by providing an express version of our plates, especially for those who had traveled a distance to reach us. This resulted in financial strain and operational disruption for our business. Additionally, some customers reached out directly to Carrie Moody due to the confusion, further demonstrating that the advertising was misleading and not accurately representing our offerings. After completing several months of participation and seeing that the advertising continued to cause confusion and harm to our business, we clearly notified Carrie Moody that Island Flava would not be renewing or continuing the service. Despite this, Island Flava was later unexpectedly charged a bill totaling $4,800, which was never disclosed, agreed upon, or authorized. This charge directly contradicts the repeated assurances that the service was free and that the contract was for zero dollars. Island Flava believes this billing is unjustified, misleading, and unfair, and we are requesting that this charge be fully removed. We are filing this complaint due to deceptive sales practices, lack of transparent disclosure, and financial harm caused to our business. read more

We had all our Clipper Magazine Invoices prepaid by credit card for the seasonal contract that we signed. The advantage was receiving a $40 monthly discount for prepayment. Two months after our last prepayment, I received a billing Statement from Valpak/Clipp for an additional month including an additional $120 to chargeback 3 months of the prepayment discount! First of all, I had no idea that Clipper Magazine became Valpak/Clipp, and I also never agreed to advertise in Valpak. I requested proof of each magazine or literature that we were advertising in with Valpak, along with proof of a signed contract with Valpak for additional advertising months (I only signed a contract with Clipper Magazine). I also requested an explanation for the additional $120 billing. To this day I have not received anything I requested, so I have not paid that additional month billing for $1852. The kicker is that Valpak's collection agency just sent me an email with a request for $4,288! Stay away from Valpak, Clipp, Clipper Magazine! read more

Clipper lost me over $30,000! No joke! Please read this if your business is a professional service business (such as law firm, doctor, financial advisor). Long story short, I knew a rep there for years. Decided to advertise twice with them. Did a front and back cover and a direct mailer insert. First, I saw these reviews about how bad they were. But.... I noticed that most only stuck with Clipper for one ad. Realistically, you need consistency in your ads. I've done other mailers with other companies, online ads and it takes about a month or two for results. So... that's why I did two months in a row.... I MADE 5X MY MONEY! I know what you're thinking... "why then did you lose so much with them"?? Well.. seeing quick results I took all that I made (over $30k) and signed a once year contract for multiple ads. Front/back, regional, etc. Clipper likes to advertise about a 1% response rate. So I'm thinking "even a 0.5% is good". But... suddenly the third ad bombed. Not even one call. Same with the fourth. Was I worried? No. It's a law of averages. Some will do well some months. Others wont. My business is also seasonal, so 3 and 4 hit kind of close to the holidays. But then, 5-7 bombed too. 1 call. Really, 1 response. At this time I also hired a marketing consultant. He knew right away what the issue was. Not so much the ad but the medium. Meaning, Clipper is really for home improvement and restaurants. Not for professional services like law firms. While they are trying to diversify away from this, most of their stats are more based on restaurants/home improvement. After all, if prof. services get 0% response rate and restaurants get 2% (split 50/50), that averages out to a 1% response rate that they then tell you ;) We changed up the ad to make it more fresh, but it still only got a handful of responses for the last few. Plus, towards the end, my inside ads went to the back. Last few pages. Which Clipper claims 50% of their readers read all the way to the back. But again, what does that really mean? If 10k mailers but only 1k actually read it. Then that means only 500 will even see the back. Maybe just flip through. "There are lies, damn lies, and then there are statistics" ;) And that's what anyone needs to be careful of. HOW DO THEY GET THESE STATS THEY PROMOTE?? As you can see, stats can be misleading! They say 10k mailers and make it sound like 10k readers... but that's probably not true. They don't actually tell you what the reader numbers are if you press them. They fall back to "10k mailers" or 25k, whatever the size is. As for my biz- those first few calls and client was just beginners luck. My ad was new, sparked a few people's interest and the client was in the right place at the right time! Those things do happen. But trying to repeat results didn't work. Clipper also tries to lock you in making it impossible to get out of the contract, without a lawsuit, which.. I'm thinking of doing anyway just to stick it to them. If you are a restaurant or home improvement business, maybe it's for you. But do no more than 4 months in a row as a trial run! Don't let them lock you in! Plus, yes, I've done direct mail before and loved it! But Clipper is at least double $$ normal direct mailers are! But the idea is "more coverage and Clipper is a 'trusted brand'" That's their spin! Advertised with clippers since the rep lady kept on coming to my pizza store. She talked me into 10 for 20 advertisement since I don't have to make any payment. I just wanted to do it for 1 month but she tricked me into doing it for 2 months. She said that all I have to worry about is $700 that is what will cost me for one monthly ad. She never mentioned that they will sell 70 coupons for $10 each and I will have to give away 70*20=$ 1400 worth of food. She had me confused and messed up missing it for 2 months . So now I am screwed and I have to give away 140*20 = $2800 worth of food for advertising for 2 months. She did say the coupons do expire in 2-3 months but now she says it doesn't have an any expiration. When I talked to her about it , her response is what is your food cost . So technically it's 30% so you are just paying $900 to advertise. Advertising with clippers has almost no return as most of its customers are always looking for deals and coupons and they are not likely to return. So, technically $2800 down the drain for nothing. If you run a business and a clippers sales rep comes to you kick them out of the door instead of falling for there scam. They should be ashamed of trying to make money of small struggling businesses. read more

Not even worth one star. I did not want to advertise with this company but the sales rep, kept coming back until she got my father to sign some paperwork). Over $700 per ad in a magazine with a three month contract that is supposed to be distributed throughout the community that my pizza shop is located (in my home town - where I live, my grandma lives, my uncles lives, my aunt lives, my sister lives and many friends). None of us ever received one magazine. Not even at our shop. I had no new customers from this advertisement, not one. Total scam of a company. When I reached out to my salesperson to inquire where these magazines were even being mailed and if I should ever expect to receive one to see what the add looks like, I received no call or text or email back for days - until they wanted payment. On top of receiving zero customers from this they harassed me to make payment by phone, email and text messages. A text from the salesperson: "Hi its Theresa from Clipper. I received information you have been trying to reach me? I check this phone voicemail.. no messages. I checked my email no messages since we last spoke. Please call this number so I can address the issues you brought up to billing. Also you told me 2 times you were paying for your ads back in November... is everything taken care of now after speaking with billing?" Maybe its me but that's not how you speak to a customer. She later "found" all my emails. I am thankful the contract is over, do not have to speak with these people again or pay them our hard earned money. read more

Spoke with Kristin about advertising and she quickly set up an appointment to meet. Long story short we couldn't make it to the appointment and we canceled by text and email days in advance. I requested to be sent a media kit with pricing instead of rescheduling our meeting and she said that she has been there 15 years and they can't send a media kit with pricing. There are many competitors out there that won't hide behind their pricing and want our business! This kind of sales is too pushy and doesn't work! Customer service is key! read more

The Clipper Magazine declined to offer a full refund, a half refund or even a free advertisement due to my business being shut down due to the COVID-19. The advertisement goes out April 2, 2020 however we can't open till after April 30, 2020. As everyone knows. We do not have the opportunity to deliver or for customers to pick up food like all their other customers in their magazine. Just thought before anyone signs up with The Clipper Magazine that you should know they do not care about their customers nor are they working together with the people to get through this tough time everyone is experiencing right now! I have been advertising with the Clipper for over 15 years and this is how you treat a good customer!! Enjoy my $912!! You will never get a cent from me again! FYI: this is my first review of any business ever! This is how strongly I feel about this organization. I am not sure how to start this, did a add with clipper gave all required add work to the sales person as requested on time, she collected check and told me was going on vacation and proof dept will contact me for corrections/changes. No problem I trusted clipper as it is a reputed company, I was told 09/28 was a deadline....I waited till the 26th and contacted clipper about my add status and was told they forgot. OK I get a proof on the 28th at 2 p.m. which needs changes and I made the changes and sent the email back. No response from clipper after that, I called my Sales Person on 10/06 and was told the add was already in print as she was on vacation and the proof department tried to reach me at 8:57 pm on the 28th for a final OK. Hello I am a Business owner and I am not open at 8:57 pm in the night. The Add is printed with the main thing Business name missing on it and also a wrong address and my sales person says nothing can be done about it. Just in 2 words very unprofessional eager to take money and very poor communication. They got paid and I lost as I have a add with no business name and also a wrong address. Please do not be mislead by their offer of $.16 cent post card mailings. These are not post cards they are inserts and they are unable to provide proof that the services you pay for are even rendered. We were unable to get any formal postal service verification and received 0 phone calls after paying for their "Minimum" of 10,000 "POSTCARDS" to be mailed out. In my honest opinion this company has been very deceitful! We have tried to communicate with them for months and have had no reply from the company director. If you want to do door to door mailings I would recommend doing it yourself and you're guaranteed some response. read more

I'm unhappy as a business owner with response to coupons in clipper. I was going to reject clipper until my price was reduced by clipper. The reduction was for one month only. I have more new clients referring to my Facebook adds opposed to 3 months in clipper. Less than 6 coupons came in the last 3 months. Yelp is another waste of cash. I have never been a customer but I did interview for a job there in 2014. No, I am not a sore loser because I wasn't hired and want to whine about it, I assure you. It was my experience and how the company does business that I have an issue with. I spent three years earning a graphic design degree and had just graduated and interviewed for a position as a graphic designer there. During my interview, the interviewer did not care one bit about my portfolio or about my preliminary work. I go to find out that they don't preliminary work and that I would go straight to the computer. This struck an alarm. Then I had an hour to put together an ad on the computer by just reading off a specs sheet. I had my choices of images to use and a grid and it was up to me to just put it together. I failed miserably. I failed not because I was incompetent or a bad designer, it was because I was not fast enough. I was not fast enough because I approached the assignment with the training I received in college. Training from professionals with decades of experience in the industry. They hammered in my head that to create good design, it takes a process. A process where you get to know your client, their target market, their demographic, what makes their business special and different from the rest. Research is key. Preliminary thumbnail sketches and working drawings are the most essential to explore ideas and solutions. Solutions that result in a creative message. I find out in the interview process and the test I took is that the company skips a lot of these essential steps. A client says what they want their ad to say and then it is passed to graphic designers to slap it together on the computer. This is completely contrary to my training and how you create great, effective design. My test gave me a specs sheet with a business name I knew nothing about and was expected to create an ad based on only what the specs said. I was even told that my test is pretty much how their designer do it for real. My instructors in college told us about companies that don't do real design any more or use the design process. Companies that go right to the computer instead of doing research and preliminary work first. The result? Bad, generic design. As one of my instructors said, "You put garbage in, you get garbage out." This company is exactly the kind of company my classmates and myself learned about. Going straight to the computers as Clipper Magazine does is not how you do real design and the magazines show it. Zero creative concepts in the ads that do not give a valid reason to the viewer to shop at the advertised businesses. Just generic designs that say "shop here and use these coupons just because our ad says so". This is probably their business model and the sole choice of the company. Fine, that is their choice and their right. As is this review is my own opinion and probably doesn't matter one iota either. I just had to say what I felt. It's not like they are not making a profit because they are. I just prefer to create real design using the old-school design process. read more

From a Business owners view I would NOT recommend this magazine to anyone looking to advertise their business. We had a friendly and helpful sales rep but everything else about the experience was horrible. We sent in artwork, ad copy and even a layout of how we wanted the ad to look. What we received back looked nothing like what we wanted and even after multiple changes we still did not receive what we wanted. Management there has not bothered to contact us, only sending our rep in, and only to offers discounts on other ads to make up for their mistakes. I worked in advertising for over 10 years...I know they can make is right but they choose not to. They want me to spend more money to continue to get NOTHING from it. I received no response from the ad because it was completely different from our style and brand. I will NEVER work with Clipper again!! I urge all business owners especially small business owners to STAY AWAY from Clipper Magazine. read more

Clipper Magazine also runs another publication called Home & Decor Ideas. This publication comes out five times a year. I am a new business with a new home improvement idea concept. I was looking for a strong marketing initiative to introduce my new business. I chose the Home & Decor Ideas publication because I was told that it reaches 110,000 homes within the Philadelphia South Suburbs. I took out a half page color add which cost $900.00. Unfortunately, I did not receive one phone call from running this advertisement. When I asked a few of my friends and neighbors if they received the magazine insert in their mail, they said that they did not. For they knew that my ad was scheduled to arrive; however, they never received their issue. Now, one must consider that either the publication doesn't reach as many homes as they state. Or, it may just be that this publication is just junk mail and gets tossed. I have a hard time accepting that out of 110,000 households, not even one household would be interested in my products. It was a total waste of money. The only ones benefiting from my ad, were the employees who take commissions and weekly paychecks for running an advertising insert that just ends up in a recycling bin.
