Plenty of boats floating by. Great views of awesome SF landmarks, such as Alcatraz island. The park stretches all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge, with grassy fields and the Fort Point historic site located beyond the beach setting. I come here often, particularly for attending special events on the water while picnicking on the smooth soft sand. It's a great spot for relaxing with loved ones, and not too far from many other cool activities and offerings in the Presidio.

It was pretty packed and we had to kind of parked illegally but they were lots of people parked where I was so I was not in fear. It was a beautiful sunny day and they were tons of people swimming across the bay doing exercise. Swimming is my main form of exercise, and I thought this would be really nice to try it. Of course they all had wet suits on. The kids walked up the beach and I stayed near my illegally parked vehicle. No one on the beach or on the walkway was wearing masks. No one seemed concerned with social distance rules. I headed over to the old pier and got some bread bowls with clam chowder for the kids to eat at the beach. Also got some fried calamari. They enjoyed their dinner/picnic at this beach. One thing to let people know, a huge change in the city. They took out all of the parking and parking meters that were on the Embarcadero. Also, on the old pier, the restaurants closed at 7:15 PM. They used to be open till 10 PM and you could park all along the road. The only parking option was the expensive parking lot, however they do validate if you get there early enough.

It's weird. I want it to stay weird. Keep bringing your kids here. Tell them how dangerous lots of parts of it are. Protect them from danger. Don't expect other people to and then sue those people for your failures as a parent. Grass and sand and paths and incomplete water towers and the bay, the greasy, dirty, oily, full-of-dead-animals bay. And watch out for sea lions! They bite.

I absolutely love this area and the giants - so much so that I just had to have our own commemorative custom brick. Finally found it today and love the location, overlooking the waterfront, stadium and boats. I love sitting out here to people watch or walk or catch the concerts from outside (I wasn't trying to pay $700 to get into Kendrick Lamar). It's super clean and it's one of my fav hang out spots!

Well, here's one green patch that gratefully escaped Joni's downcast fate. The park consists of five acres of bucolic landscaping, which hugs McCovey Cove right across from Oracle Park. I was already familiar with the walking path since it predates the park and provides an inevitable connection for the San Francisco Bay Trail. You can walk easily to Chase Center and Crane Cove from here. Beyond the trail is the Great Lawn, an acre of greenery that slopes toward the water and creates a natural amphitheater. There are other parts of the park like the Gathering Grove and the Shoreline Sands that function primarily as congregation areas during game days and cultural events. But come any time, especially near sunset, because the key draw from any vantage point is the view of Downtown, the Bay Bridge, and of course, the bay itself. RELATED - Exploring Mission Bay? Our guide was experienced, patient and knew the river well. He took good care of my 10 year old granddaughter, who was a first-timer. This is a quality outfit. I recommend them without reservation. Of note: the South Fork has become a bit crowded with rafts. I'll be trying a different river next time.

At the end of the pier, a few guys were out fishing, and you could catch the ferry coming and going just beside it. Thus, this park is meticulously manicured and decorated year round, especially stunning during the holidays with decorative lights. Right in the center of the park, there's a fountain here replicated after the Fontana delle Tartarughe (Fountain of the Turtles) in Rome. With how it's laid out, it's picturesque and very popular with locals and visitors. On the side, there's a playground for kids. I remember coming here for Easter egg hunts when I was younger. Now, I bring my pup here occasionally for photos. Located in the middle flanked by 4 streets: California St, Taylor St, Sacramento St, and Cushman St and is reachable by car or via public transportation like the #1 California bus and the cable car - California line. If you choose to walk, you will need to hike up/ or down the hills depending on which directions you are coming from.

There are three entrances, including through the main Presidio Gate entrance as well as through the neighborhoods nearby. A good amount of visitors were here, but everyone minds their own business. Nice spot if you also like the cold. The area is typically very overcasted compared to areas central to town. There's also a side trail that's composed of really tall trees and logs, but it wasn't as amazing as I was hoping it to be. Still worth a visit if you're in the area.
