    Belgian waffle bacon and eggs

Feeling adventurous on an early Saturday morning, we wandered into Gainesville and hit the Clock Restaurant for breakfast. Another seeming throwback to an earlier time, this place features a four-seat counter area and a mixture of tables and booths stuck in the 90s. Aged, but clean for what we could see. Belgian waffle combo and a Paul Bunyan breakfast were what we decided on, eggs, waffles, pancakes, home fries, bacon and sausage. Bacon cooked to order, no complaints. Home fries a little on the mushy side. Pancakes were light and fluffy. Another fairly solid meal - nothing flashy, just good breakfast fare.

Senior spinach omelet with hash browns and 2 egg breakfast with patty sausage hash browns. Both with pancakes. Our server's name was Wendy.

Great food at an excellent price. Service was fast and our server was very personable. We really loved the family atmosphere.

we've eaten there over the years, but it had been a while. We were getting our car worked on and decided to have breakfast. While we waited, we were sat down immediately. Still, has that old school diner feel with a counter, or you can sit at at tables/booth. Our waitress was super friendly. We always had a full cup of coffee, and it was actually pretty clean from what we remember it being there. Food was above average for that type of restaurant. The omelet was fluffy. I can say. I wish my biscuit was a little warmer, like it had been made earlier.

    Fresh toast combo.

I think the restaurant is great. It had good vibes all around. It reminded me of this restaurant my mom would take me to when I was a kid back in Oklahoma. I believe they have good food. I won't be getting the French toast combo again. The fresh toast was very small and just was not enough food for the price. Next time I'll try a omelette but I do think this place has great food. The French toast was too small for me. Service was great so I do recommend people try this place out.

The clock restaurant has great prices and service. Also very quick and tasty. I got the sausage gravy & biscuits + the egg croissant sandwich.

Cozy atmosphere. Senior specials for those 55+!

Friendly servers, classic breakfasts done right, reasonable prices, comfortable atmosphere. What you want for a great diner is here. Thank you, I'll be back. Wandered in from the GMC dealership while my car was getting repaired. Great find!

A great place to grab a bite in Gainesville. I came for lunch, around 1230 on a Sunday and the place was packed, but I still got seated right away. The staff was friendly, and helpful in my decision making process. I ended up ordering the Paul Bunyan, which consists of 3 eggs, 3 sausage links, 3 slices of bacon, hash browns, and either biscuits and gravy, a biscuit, or pancakes. I went with eggs over easy, hash browns with onions and cheese, and biscuits and gravy. The eggs were prepared well, the bacon was crispy, and the hash browns indeed had cheese. I didn't taste or see onions, but that's alright. The biscuit for the biscuits and gravy was pretty large, and split in half. The biscuit itself was well prepared and cooked, and more fluffy than dense. The gravy was well seasoned, with some pretty good chunks of sausage. The coffee was good, the food was good, and I didn't hear any complaints from any of the other clientele about the restaurant. If you're looking for a hearty breakfast, look no further than The Clock. You can thank me later!!! :)

You have to check this place out. It's a whole vibe. When I walked in it was like stepping back into the 1980s, before chain restaurants outnumbered family owned diners. You know the type, drop ceiling, corian and fake wood paneling, wall to wall carpet and a vacuum in the corner, knickknacks and old art. But very bright and clean. Paper place mats with Florida map with illustrated local attractions. A wall of kids fan art. And this place has clocks everywhere. There was a couple meeting with an agent about getting a mortgage on a new house, I heard them mention they'd been there most of the afternoon. Seemed like a really laid back place. The staff was so friendly, they actually comped my meal because Vystar had been down for weeks and my card declined. The Veggie burger was great, I think it was a beyond burger or something like it. Hard to tell the difference from a beef burger and not what I would've expected from a diner! Other food on the menu looked like typical diner fare: club sandwiches, meatloaf and gravy and fries and greebeans type of thing. Breakfast served all day. I'll definitely be back!

Old school style dinner food great for breakfast or lunch. Constantly moving around servers filling coffee and ice teas. If you're looking some good old fashion food this is a great spot. The Turkey Ruben is bomb considering it's a healthier alternative. The prices are reasonable and service is good. It tends to be busy so parking and wait time can a little longer but it's worth it.

Needless to say this the Metro diner truly surpassed my expectations. We walked in and were greeted immediately and asked if we would like to sit outside which is a covered area or indoors. We chose inside given it being a hot humid day and wanting that extra comfort. The vibe felt amazing with all the smiles and yes even though busy all the wait staff was hopping doing their business! We were seated and told about the specials and given the menu. I was unsure what I wanted because I think I could have eaten a little bit of everything! I did ask the waitress a couple of suggestions and one of them was the pancakes I had chosen. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all day! How cool is that and rare. They had a chicken and waffle special that was actually half a chicken ( pieces ) fried with Belgium waffles, powdered sugar and sweet strawberry butter served with their signature sweet and spicy sauce. I'll be honest when I had seen someone else get their plate I was surprised. It looked absolutely incredible and well tremendous. On their specials they had banana pudding pancakes or waffles, this also sounded amazing. It had walnuts, butter and powdered sugar and definitely banana. I am most certainly glad that I chose this as it was incredibly. Super fluffy, flavorful and the banana was not overwhelming there was a perfect balance of flavors. There was a sauce on them that I assume was the banana pudding. It was light and just enough to not overpower the pancake itself. We had also ordered croissant French toast and my son absolutely loved them. They were crispy on the outside yet fluffy and flavorful with a fantastic texture topped with some powdered sugar. Some ordered hash browns, these were also delicious and homemade with a great texture and the portion like all the other dishes pretty large. We had all tried the biscuits and gravy. These too were delicious with such a nice balance of flavors. The biscuits indeed homemade. We were all very pleased with everything. Some eggs over easy and bacon cooked perfectly. The coffee honestly the best I've had in years. I'm a coffee drinker and I cannot figure this coffee was outstanding! I had four cups and wish for more ha ha. Best of all I must compliment the service. I have not been to a restaurant of any sort with such attentive service, quality service as we received here in years. The waitress kept refilling my coffee and water, brought my son more soda ( even a container to take his home ) asked everyone if they needed anything at appropriate times and was extremely kind and considerate. I will be back and I highly recommend the Metro Diner for a great meal, quality service and relaxed environment that you will enjoy. A place that operates smoothly without a bunch of flash? That's how I felt about 43rd Street. Very clean and uncluttered, with a definite retro feel. Kinda like stepping back in time a decade or three, but in a nostalgic way. The place was fairly busy but quiet, which I appreciated after 30+ hours of road noise and loud music. We were greeted as soon as we entered and shown to a table with no wait. The hostess (I didn't catch her name) took our drink orders as we were seated--OJ for her and coffee for me--and promptly bustled away to take care of us. Our server, Crystal, was a delight. Efficient, friendly, attentive, all the things one needs to be an all-star server. Our drinks came out quickly, freshly squeezed OJ and fresh coffee, both lovely. I ordered the Firecracker omelette and my partner got French toast with strawberries. We shared a large side of cheesy grits, which I was super excited for. Love me some grits! Located in midtown, this appears to a fast casual place that caters towards college students. They serve "Greek" street food, salads, quesadillas, burgers, and more. The food is relatively inexpensive. Service is fine, actually the people working there are friendly. Food is made to order and comes out quickly. There is some seating available inside (it's limited) but there are plenty of tables in the hall. I ordered the Street Chicken Souvlaki which included grilled chicken with tomato, onion, fries inside a pita, topped with ketchup and mustard. This was a very large portion. The pita was good, but pretty much fell apart the second I picked it up. While I liked the chicken, it was over seasoned and I didn't care for the "sauced" quality of it. I'm not sure if they marinated it or tossed it in some sauce, but it was too much. The fries were decent, but not super crispy. I felt that they were not necessarily and a little over-the-top. The tomato was fresh and but the red onion slices were very thick. The mustard and ketchup didn't work with the seasonings on the chicken. The dish was just all over the place and I couldn't even finish half of it before I started feeling sick. I ordered a side of onion rings as well. This was a large order and the size was great. But these onion rings were over-battered and were fresh, but not crispy at all. I bit into one and ended up pulling out the whole onion rings. Not good. Overall, I was very disappointed with my experience. The food was so heavy and overly salted I couldn't even eat half of it. I ended up giving it to a homeless person on the way out. The food left my stomach in shambles the rest of the day. Service is fine. But the food is not desirable. It is safe to say I will not be returning, which is unfortunate.

It's worth noting that they don't appear to have a deep fryer, which explains the skillet-made home fries instead of traditional fries. The home fries were decent, and they're a good alternative if you enjoy a grilled potato, but don't expect the typical crunch of a deep fryer. On the plus side here, this also means their fries didn't come from SysCo. The service was perfectly fine... professional, timely, and I had no issues during my visit. While the burger and potatoes were middle-of-the-road, the "skillet-only" kitchen setup makes me curious about their other staples. I'd like to come back and test the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup or the BLT, as those seem like they might be the real stars of a griddle-focused menu.
