Since my old review, I have been going to Clocktower semi-frequently on the weekend. First, the baristas are nice and make the drinks well. I love that there are so many drinks to chose from. During my visit this past weekend, I got a medium soy chai latte which was heavy on the cinnamon, pretty to look at and delicious. Also, I like that they have many types of tea to chose from. Next, the atmosphere is great for working or studying. There are plenty of tables inside and the volume level has never been loud when I have been there. There are some tables outside too. The WiFi usually is fine except for one visit that it wasn't working. The gift shop is fun. I've enjoyed browsing though I haven't bought anything yet. Weakest latte I've ever had. I've driven and biked past Clocktower Coffee for many years without stopping in, but decided to give it a try today which turned out to be an overpriced mistake. I ordered a medium oat milk latte with an extra shot because I like to be able to taste the espresso through the milk. Though what I ordered and paid (too much) for was supposed to contain 3 shots of espresso, based on the flavor, either I only received 1 shot of espresso, or their espresso is little more than coffee flavored water. This place saved me twice now. Twice I've found myself in the area needing a place to kill an hour, and this one comes with wifi! It's a cute coffee shop with a ton of seating. There are couches and they even sell a bunch of little trinkets. The one annoying thing is that they only have one power strip in the center of the store, so if you brought your laptop, you're going to have to try to snag one of the four tables near enough to reach an outlet. I've ordered both a normal chai and a chai with almond milk. The regular chai is pretty sweet, so if you'd like something a little lighter, then almond milk is the way to go. I've also ordered both a croissant and a chocolate croissant. The staff ask if you want them warmed up and unless the flakiness is important to you, then I would recommend taking them up on it. I got both of them warmed up. Both held up well, but I would say the chocolate croissant needs to be warmed up. It's not great unless the chocolate is all melty. The normal croissant is HUGE, and would probably be good served hot or cold. The staff have been nice both times I've been here and the high windows let in a lot of natural light. It's a nice place to spend an hour or two and I'll probably be bacak sometime soon. read more

There weren't that many customers, maybe because it was raining. But, they were quick with my order. I ordered an iced caramel macchiato. It was pretty good. I would say average. I came here after work one day and happen to catch them 5 mins before closing, which apparently meant poor service that wanted to just get your order and shoo you out. I was quite disappointed at how unfriendly it felt (especially after a long day at work, on a rainy day). I was actually really excited to come here because of the cute trinkets I saw online and was able to briefly browse while I waited for my cup of joe, but all the cuteness in the store couldn't mask the biter welcome I felt like I received. Your typical local coffee shop coffee but they did seem to offer some interesting atypical coffee/latte flavors that you don't see in other places. Being more of a drip coffee guy, I can't recommend this place that highly. On my first trip, my coffee tasted more like hot water with a brown crayon soaking in it: Thin, and almost entirely devoid of flavor. Since they offer a rotating selection of coffees, I did make a follow-up trip to try their house coffee, a French roast. Though this was a little better than my first visit, it was still on the weak side, with almost no body. Where Starbuck's French Roast has an over-roasted, burnt flavor, Clocktower's version was on the opposite side of the spectrum (I can't believe I'm saying this, but I prefer Starbuck's version). I have no idea what the exact problem is. Maybe it is their roasting, or maybe they simply skimp on the grounds to save money. At least the prices are reasonable - a small coffee is only $1.35. As for setting, it is clean, bright and modern, rivaling any of the swankiest coffee spots in the area. They also have a large selection of gifts and stationary. There is generous outdoor seating plus free wi-fi, so I could see myself coming back on a nice day for a latte or espresso; just not coffee. read more

my first impression of this place was that they have a great selection of retail merchandise! it is very cute, especially toward the back of the shoppe where they carry unique gifts, greeting cards, etc. i just needed a little something to get me thru the morning, so i opted for the hazelnut biscotti ($1.75). this was good, v crunchy with hazelnuts embedded, but i felt $1.75 was a little high for this small pastry. i perused the other menu items and noticed that most of their breakfast options (sandwiches, wraps, etc) were upwards of $6, pretty expensive for a small coffee shoppe that is outside of the downtown area (actually this area seemed pretty quiet in general, not a lot of foot traffic). there is a nice seating area inside, plentiful coffee tables and chairs. this would be a good place for a cup o' joe and the morning paper, but i'd probably go elsewhere for the pastries. read more

A nice little coffee shop that feels like a cross between Starbucks and a small boutique. There are several comfortable chair and lots of "crafty" things on the shelves. When I came here today, the girl behind the counter seemed very tired but forced a couple of smiles. My cappuccino came in a tall ceramic cup, which is unusual for cappuccinos since they usually come in short ceramic cups that are easier to drink from. Not a big deal though. The foam was pretty good and had some body and texture to it. The espresso was decent but didn't really have much flavor to it. This is a pretty good place but doesn't stand out much from other chain coffee shops in appearance or flavor. I'll probably stick to Red Rock when I'm in Mountain View. I debated between 2 and 3 stars because nothing is really bad about this place but there's nothing really great to bring me back either. read more

The breakfast menu is a little bit fuller then expected with bagels and oatmeal options. The bad- Nothing outstanding on the menu. Nothing really bad nothing totally awesome. Same for the service. Their White Mocha is one of the best I've had. I like my coffee with more of a milky taste and this was perfect. The coffee flavor isn't too strong and it isn't overwhelmingly sweet. I also bought a packaged bacon breakfast burrito. I do not recommend it - it was dry and flavorless but at least it filled me up. There is a lot of seating and it's fairly quiet so it's a nice place to study, chill during a lunch break or even catch up with friends.
