I've been coming to Clocktower Dental for over 12 years, back when they had fish tanks in the rooms and you actually felt like a patient, not a transaction. I even kept coming back here for care when I moved out of state for college instead of finding a dentist closer to home. That's how much I trusted them. Unfortunately, I can't recommend them anymore. They're not transparent about pricing, their bedside manner has seriously declined, and the whole experience now just feels off. I went in for a routine cleaning and X-rays--which should have been covered by insurance--and somehow ended up with a $200 bill because they decided to do a different type of X-ray without telling me. No heads up, no consent, just a surprise charge. On top of that, the hygienists seem completely unconcerned with patient comfort. Going to the dentist is already anxiety-inducing for a lot of people, and basic compassion should be part of the job in any medical setting. That's not the vibe here anymore. It feels more like you're being rushed through and "sit still and get it over with," rather than anyone checking in to make sure you're okay. Another time, they told me I had eight cavities, needed a root canal, and had several other areas to "watch." I got a second opinion, and the other dentist looked at me like I was out of my mind. None of that work was necessary. That alone was enough to make me question continuing care with them. The final straw for me was my most recent visit. My permanent retainer had popped out, and this was the only place I could get into that weekend. I booked a cleaning and exam and agreed to have a new permanent retainer installed. They charged me $860 for basically a small piece of metal cemented to the back of my teeth. I walked out to my car and honestly just sat there in shock because I had just spent nearly $1,000 that I wasn't expecting. I called my orthodontist, the one who originally installed my retainer, and they told me even on the high end it should've been around $350, and closer to $170 on the low end. I went back inside and explained the situation. When they pushed back, I told them they could take it out then because I wasn't paying that and I would go somewhere else. I understand they're not an orthodontist office, but $860 felt ridiculous. They ended up refunding me half, which honestly just made it feel worse. If you're willing to accept around $400, why were you charging nearly $900 in the first place? To top it off, I decided to switch providers and requested copies of my X-rays. The records I already paid for. I called three days ago, dealt with a pretty rude front desk interaction, gave them my email, and still haven't received anything. So now I get to call again and chase down my own records. I didn't even want to write this review. I was ready to just move on. But between the lack of transparency, the pricing, the way patients are treated, and the constant hassle, it feels like people should know. Clocktower used to care about their patients. Now it feels like they just see dollar signs. There are much better dental offices in the area than this place anyway. read more

I want to start with Dr Jeremy and Dr. Austin are amazing. I've been here, my friend has been here and my mom has been here. Now it's been 3 separate experiences with a specific dental assistant. She has blonde hair and a pink claw clip. There is another assistant who is amazing that has her hair in a ponytail. THIS IS NOT HER. I think the bad one has a name that starts with a J. She has cut me and given absolutely no care to me being uncomfortable. She was horribly rough and has no bed side manner. She was huffing and puffing that the Dr wasn't in to see me. On my friend's side she did the same exact thing and made her wait for more suction and water. She cut her gums multiple times while scraping off the cement from her crown. And had a horrific attitude about my friend pushing the assistants hand away after she cut the corner of her lip. My mom was also in and this assistant cut my mom under her tongue and her tongue is still not the same. She was horribly rude and wouldn't give her water. When she told her something hurt she ignored her and continued to hurt her. PLEASE GET THIS ASSISTANT OUT OF HERE OR TALK TO HER. read more

Overpriced services. A TMJ orthotic was 2,500 dollars for only 6 weeks of treatment and no direction moving forward after the 6 weeks. I would not recommend this business simply because of the cost of appliances/services. I would ask for more clarity behind pricing and how long treatment will last before committing financially if you move forward. read more

Overscoped the work. Insurance rejected the claim but the work had been done, poorly. We had to have the work (2 overlays) redone. The new dentist (well established) was $1,500 less. Awful. Insurance and new dentist told us the procedure was not necessary as a simpler procedure would have sufficed. Now insurance will not cover the fix. Father-in-Law aslo quit going here a year ago. I visited this office after my dentist retired. For them to initially see me, they charged for that visit, billed my insurance, and didn't do anything but take x-rays and measure the depth of my teeth. I returned a second time for the actual cleaning and was told I owed a lot more (almost $400). No one could elaborate on the amount I owed when I asked why this was so much. It turned out they were not in the network. Suppose I had been told that I would have gone elsewhere before they even saw me. Looking back, I realize that their financial department failed me as a new patient by not saying, "Hey, did you know we are not in-network with your dental coverage?" Not once, and the whole thing still feels shady. This should have been disclosed to me, especially since I was a new patient--bad first experience. The hygienist was excellent, patient, and thorough, but the front office - not so much. Another thing I noticed during my two visits was that almost everyone in that office was pushing sleep apnea referrals like they were handing out candy and then pushing that each person gets a night guard - for no real reason, both visits - it felt like a hard sell to everyone. It gave me a bad feeling. I would be very leary of this office - if you decide to go, notice how everyone is pushing the sleep apnea referrals. Good luck to anyone that goes there. read more

I am a nurse anesthetist with years of giving dental anesthesia, so I am one of those patients and mom..... They use cutting edge technology and take time to listen. They want to sell dental insurance - not clean teeth. I made an appoint for a new patient. When I arrived and filled out the new patient forms, the receptionist said it would be over $400 to get my teeth cleaned unless i bought their dental insurance. I came to get my teeth cleaned, not buy an insurance plan and $400+ is obscene for a simple cleaning. I have no problem paying for dental care out of pocket - I've done that for over 20 years. If you value your time, I'd skip this dental practice. They were ok when we started a few years back. Never crazy about either of the dentists, but once they doubled their square footage, and added more hygienists, it got to be where a quick cleaning took an hour-your and fifteen minutes. The hygienist can get done, but we found we were left waiting a long time for Jonathan or Jeremy to finish up with us so we could leave. It feels much more like a boutique business now than a dental office. Prices here compared to others we've looked into is significantly higher as well. So many dentists, why waste your time with this practice? Update: Dentist said our child needed a root canals. We got a second opinion before heading to their own preferred specialist. The specialist we chose to see across town studied the films, and let us know that the ClockTower assessment was wrong. read more

My entire experience with this practice has been a nightmare. Hygienists are rude. They will jab you in the gums with equipment then blame you. Paid $1700 for a crown and when I called to explain that I was looking for a refund after my insurance had paid the girl on the phone (Alyssa) started rattling off excuses before it was confirmed that yes they already had everything they would need to refund me what I was charged up front. And the crown, yeah they put it over a tooth that is now infected because they didn't bother to see if it needed a root canal. Save your $ and time and go elsewhere. read more

This dentist (Dr. Michael DeSimone) is a disaster waiting to happen. Had my front tooth worked on several years ago and it was never properly seated. The doctor allowed the permanent glue to dry too much before he began seating the replacement tooth. He couldn't fully seat the tooth, pressing extremely hard, I could tell by his reaction he had panicked, as he rushed off out of the room to another patient I presume. Even the dental assistant gasped with an "okay" when the doctor rushed off telling her to finish it up. I strongly recommend another dentist with more integrity and attention to detail. read more

Husband went in at 8:00 am I paid for the GOLD plan paid for the root canal. 10 numbing shots later 10 am still no start of root canal and my husband still in terrible pain told Dr. JON to just pull it out. John Canter complaining we were rushing him because I said "time is of the essence" because my husband does not want to be in pain. My husband was in terrible pain already for two days and all morning now he has to wait until tomorrow and an oral surgeon!. Dr Jon said I said I had to go somewhere? I was talking about pain. Doctor said he did not feel comfortable because we were rushing after 3 hours in his dentist chair? its 12noon my husband walked out really upset. Dr Jon left my husband with holes in his tooth and hes a dentist?. My husband said he was numb up to the top of his head and the doctor said he did not give him too much numbing and he could give him more at 10 am but proceeded to talk and talk like stalling all he wanted to do is talk about the work?. Why did it take 10 shots to numb him and he said he could give him more? I am 56 and I have never seen a doctor act so unprofessional wanted to talk about being scared of the tooth extraction and also the entire procedure for a root canal talking about a cracked tooth now he seemed nervous and just scared to do anything. Dr Jon was hee hawing about removing the tooth now and could not numb the tooth satisfactorily blaming my husband for being difficult to numb?. Said after 3 hours maybe you need to be put to sleep for this. Then he blamed me for telling him how long does he have to be in pain and not get treatment after 3 hours in his dental chair? My husband just wanted it extracted after the 2nd hour of nothing being done. Dr. John could not do neither because he could not numb my husband. They said it was a hot red tooth whatever that means and it was all my husbands fault. They refunded my money and my husband is awaiting a real doctor to deal with the tooth. Sorry never knew that you cannot numb a tooth with 10 injections. Who knew? read more

I'm continually amazed at this Dental practice. They gave me my first crown, and have repaired several fillings and various chipped teeth. First of the all, the staff is incredible. So pleasant, kind, and extremely gifted. Plus they have great personalities!!!! Secondly, any dentist here is a dream with a needle! I was overjoyed at how conscientious they are with the whole numbing process. It was a piece of cake!!!! Now onto The actual dentistry. My crown is the perfect shade, fit amazingly out of the gate (made on site while I waited). It took them an hour to get me in and out and back to work, I never had one iota problem with it! TOTAL SCAM! ONLY WANTS YOUR MONEY! Horrible experience. I have had multiple friends go here and have been told that they needed work done! After they get a second opinion, they find out that this is a total fraudulent dentist. If I could give zero stars I would. I have had crowns for over 20 years and the dentist told me I needed to replace all of them. I asked what the down time would be for doing so and his reply was "Well you should know. You have plenty of them." I was appalled the he had the audacity to even say such a thing. I pulled our entire family from ever going back here. Horrible way to treat anyone regardless of the situation. Then to try and just get paid for crowns that did not need replaced at all. I got a second opinions with RED HAWK DENTISTRY. Extremely rude front desk lady with short blonde hair on the right office side of the dentistry. There was no reason to be that rude! I was told months ago they took Medicaid. They other front desk lady told me that she would also make a note I'm my file about it. I live all the way by the airport ad drove down to castle to get my teeth looked at. She didn't even care or wanted to look at my teeth. Wanted to charge me over a 150.00 to get looked at. I ask if they could just take a glance at my teeth just to see if there what could be wrong. Did not want to help me. She pushed back and said she would ask but it was a no followed with rude under tone. I said , I would leave and not come back. I get new insurance and will not come back to this office. There was no reason to be that rude and not even care at all! I had no idea here was may account was not saying what my insurance was.
