This must- see must - do in North County San Diego is like a visit to a friend's rustic summer cottage. We found well curated music, equipment, and even a few cool vintage artifacts! Central to Carlsbad and Oceanside, but better still, because it's away from their shopping district traffic and congestion. EZ outing and parking away from the town crowds of summer on a Saturday. Just moved into town so getting familiar with the local record shop scene. Glad Lovebus in Carlsbad was my first stop. Not totally obvious there's a store there as it's all residential but you can't miss it as the street dead ends only a few yards away. Small curated selection of reasonably-priced 70s-late 80's classic rock, some jazz and a tiny but well appointed 80's new wave section. Had to pick up General Public, Suzanne Vega, The Three O'Clock and Rob Zombie! Mike the owner was super friendly and had a real presence in the community with lots of locals stopping by to chat. I found this tiny little record store in Carlsbad - off the beaten path for sure, but it is worth the trip! The owner is there behind the counter and he knows his stuff. This is a great stop while in Carlsbad and around the corner from the city center. My wife found this shop and we had to check it out. We found literally thousands of vinyl/CD's and cassettes there. We selected a couple albums and Mike suggested that he would ship them to us on the east coast. The albums were reasonably priced and the shipping cost was very reasonable. My wife and I just recently got into vinyl and started checking out local shops. Like others have said, the vibe in these stores aren't very welcoming, so when we met Mike and his adorable pup, it was such a pleasant surprise at how chill, kind, and helpful he was. Niceties aside, he also has a fantastic collection, well organized, and very fair prices (especially compared to other local shops). I also love that part of the money goes to a good cause as they fundraise too. We will definitely be back here to build on our collection. PS. This is my favorite please to go and find old records. I love the laid back vibe. Mike is a great resource and super friendly. It's not pretentious at all like other places. I trust the prices are fair and some great value finds there too. Mostly all used. Most of the records are old rock with some variations sprinkled in. Something for everyone. "Love Bus Records" isn't your typical used record store. The owner/proprietor is essentially selling his personal collection, amassed over decades, and it's all primo stuff. He runs the operation out of his garage. The selection leans mostly towards classic rock, with a pretty sizable classical section to boot and various other genres. There's a plethora of vintage pressings to be had. The star attraction (for me, at least) was the truly impressive selection of MoFi Original Masters Series and half-speed masters. If you know, you know. My first haul from Love Bus included: - a 1985 original pressing of "Brothers in Arms" by Dire Straits - a Hank Williams greatest hits compilation, circa 1963 - a 1979 pressing of Pink Floyd's "The Wall" - a 1971 pressing of "Revolver" by the Beatles - a 1966 pressing of "Rubber Soul" by the Beatles All for under $120! If you're a vinyl collector/enthusiast in the San Diego area, you really ought to check out what's on offer.
