My teenage son has recently become fascinated with vinyl records. We had gone to a couple of other outlets that sold vintage / used records to find they were ridiculously high. A place on Northern that really specializes in books wanted $50 for a used LP that Target had brand new for $25. Fast forward to a hot Wednesday and after school my son wanted to go and I agreed, even when I didn't want to fight rush hour attitudes. Parking was fairly easy considering they share a lot with a bar, a nail salon, gas station, when walking in we were greeted with a " welcome in." Selections easily marked by genre and artist. (Except new arrivals) What got me was the pricing. So much more reasonable then those other guys. CD selection good at bargain pricing. Complete Billy Joel four cd collection in excellent condition only $10. I have a feeling this will be our bored on a weekend time to browse for hours spot. We must have caught Ron on a good day because we didn't encounter the rudeness others are talking about, but then again sometimes matter of fact can be taken as rudeness and there is a big difference. read more

Very great record shop! They have a ton of cassettes which are hard to come by nowadays, the vinyl selection was wonderful (I found lots of 80s punk staples I needed for my collection), and their cd section also exceeded my expectations. They also had Traces of Death on VHS which is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. read more

Thought it was worth an update to mention: They have $1 records on the back porch that you can spend some serious time sorting thru if that blows up your skirt, they sell new and used record players, storage options, tapes (yes, tapes a la the 90s) & some interesting merchandise. Great little Record store tucked in a very touristy area of shops, and restaurants! I was excited to see they were open on a Sunday! The place was packed with lots of classics. Great selection of every thing from the Beatles to Zappa, and lots of cool indie punk releases! Prices were more than fair on all the records! The guy running the shop that day was super sweet and we chatted about some hard to find gems that I was looking for! I think he appreciated I don't just go on EBAY and buy them and want to find them in a shop! They have a back room full of records, and I found a KILLER RED VINYL Hard to find WALKER BROTHERS Record sitting in a pile! I new I had something hot and wonderful on my hands, so I went to the counter and asked how much it was and he said, all those records back there are 3 for a buck! I was like ZOINKS!!!!!!! Sweet so I picked up a Little Richard record for djing, and and a Gershwin record for Ashley! I looked up the Walker Brothers record and it goes for 50-100 bucks on Ebay! It's not in mint condition but sounds beautiful on my player! I love that you can still go into a small record store and find something that completely blows your mind for under a dollar! It's tough being a rap fan when it comes to vinyl. I'm trying to branch out and find new record shops around Phoenix to try. The Record Room had rave reviews on Yelp and was close to my job. I decided to check it out and I am glad I did. Although the rap section is small, I was able to find a few records to leave with. I will say that for anyone interested in singles, this place has easily the largest selection of singles I've ever seen. The man behind the counter was friendly and helped me locate the different genres around the store. I will definitely be back to go through the massive $1 record section when I have time to kill. Horrible experience with this business. I dealt with them over discogs. John was incredibly rude. I offered to buy something and told him I needed a week to pay. After 4 days he cancelled my order AND left me a negative review. When I tried to reach out he was very cocky. Wouldn't let me purchase so I grabbed it elsewhere. Not recommended. My first visit there was just this afternoon. I gotta give 'em 5 stars for price, a good attitude from the staff and a decent (but not great) selection. Their prices are rock bottom for some decent looking vinyl. They also have a very good selection of new pressings if that's your preference. With prices this great I'm sure the stock turns over pretty fast which means a weekly visit to the Record Room is probably a good idea for those of us with vinyl collecting issues. read more

Today is Record Store Day 2015. I was at this store on Record Store Day 2013 for my 1st visit to actually see the new band, The She*Riffs, debut their performance from their sample CD later that afternoon. I showed up in the morning to take a look around the fairly-new flagship's 'room', which was tiny so the name befits. They had a nice selection of oldies and because The She*Riffs was a modern punk [all-girl] band, I was inspired to check out and purchase 2 punk LPs: Germs and 'X', as well as that sample CD and a 45 rpm by '70s punker/goth Alice Bag (singer of The She*Riffs as Alicia Velasquez- her real/current name), Alice Bag is the 1st-generation L.A. punk band, The Bags. I left and arrived back in the afternoon to purchase old punk paperbacks and to see The She*Riffs play and for a meet-and-greet afterwards. They were terrific & memorable! I gave this store 4/5 stars because they were adamant that the morning customers who first walked in had to leave their purses near the register @ front; yet, in the afternoon, they could come in with their totes. This gives off a confusing message between morning/afternoon customers. If they worry about shoplifting, don't bother have a business then. Another is, they gave free sodas to the band and the entourage but customers had to pay a dollar per soda can (actually, I saw the owner encourage a member of the entourage to help himself to a complimentary soda- it's not like he was sweating or having a health issue). It's like watching a celebrity get freebies while nobodies had to pay. Celebs are equal customers who pay, too. Not looking good in my book. Yes, I noticed all that while waiting in the store for the band to arrive, set up equipment, and perform (in the cluttery/dusty back patio which was fairly hot). The store was in an old building and was clean & orderly, and the prices were decent so that I could get good deals on my purchases- cheaper than elsewhere and online. Thank-you for that opportunity, as well as for welcoming The She*Riffs so that I could have the chance to view a real-live punk performance that I didn't have in the past. Oh, and there was a complimentary Dunkin' Donuts & coffee in the morning, so thanks for that. I may be back for a future Record Store Day special- depending on the band(s) I'd like to see... UPDATE ABOUT JOHN THE OWNER'S RESPONSE: Hey, this is my customer's right to objectively review the incident that day. You didn't have to be so defensive and yes, if you worry about shoplifting, then don't have a business. Smart business owners LISTEN to customers without attacking them. Other customers have a right to know in advance that you demanded that their purses (not even just a backpack, a purse, too) (with no prior notices or even a hold ticket stub but just a surprise- customers carry alot of money during special days) be hung up somewhere unsupervised and that you gave a free soda to the entourage in your hot store with only a fan blowing the hot air around. You have a right to worry about shoplifters? Customers have an equal right to worry about their unsupervised purses. You actually gave him the soda because you were star-struck- you actually talked him into taking it. It was actually hotter in your store than outside. Numerous customers walked out and you didn't have that many people watching the band perform. What about customers being hot, too, waiting for the band to set up equipment past the show's time in your dirty & stuffy patio, and with the singer having to get your staff to mop the floor so the wires don't get electrocuted. Customers traveled from all over to see the band; plus they weren't sure whether to quickly leave your premise to get more drinks elsewhere and then come back because you couldn't know when the band will begin and they didn't want to miss it so they stuck in there and waited & waited patiently in your hot store. I had my own water bottle. I, at least, said something nice in other areas but you forgot about it, right? No 'thank-you for sticking around iand making a purchase'? You & the band made money from us because of the show. You were nothing without them/us for a fairly-new store. This review was intended so that customers are made aware in case they're interested in visiting your store in the next record store day so they don't get surprised like we did. Don't like that? Too bad. Go back to school. Better yet, learn from my father's legendary business ethics on how to run a store and treat the customers with respect- remember, cash is king and it begins with a customer. I have reduced from 4 stars to 1 due to your response and will not be back at your tiny dirty store. 4 stars remain for the band as my thanks for them for being there, 1 star for your poor customer service towards the handicapped that day and snitty response here and to another Yelp reviewer. And, BTW, tell us how you fit a record inside a purse?? Good luck to your business. read more

A good small record store. The staff was cool and the type you would want at a local record shop. For its size the selection of music offerings is pretty good too. There appeared to be a lot of jazz records. I look mainly for punk and other rock 'n' roll records. It was somewhat lacking in that department but I did score a nice vinyl compilation of Swiss punk bands from the late 70s & early 80s. I know it's not what people go to record shops for but they have an awesome Record Room t-shirt with Andre the Giant on it. That made my day and was well worth a purchase. I look forward to coming here again in the not too distant future and see if I can't pull another worthy LP out of their selection. read more

While Record Room is a fairly small store, they had a great selection of albums. The gentleman manning the store was super friendly and knew what the store had to offer. He was super hands-on and suggested a few records based on what we chose. We ended up spending quite a bit of time here and picked up a few great albums. And the most awesome part was that he just threw in the $1 records we chose - love supporting locally-owned, independent businesses. read more
