I've used VILLAGE EAST CLEANERS for two decades. I pulled in front of their HR/Eastern location and was surprised to see CLOSET MONKEY instead.
I had two caftans to be shortened. The three people (one employee, one owner and unclear on the 3rd person's role) were quite effusive, chatty, welcoming.
They charged me $100, paid in advance; that's $50 per caftan to shorten it.
They had my phone# on file from the previous business but wanted my cell ph#. As a Boomer who is a Technophobe, I don't give out my cell ph# because I don't use my cell ph. To me, it's for emergencies; to call 911 or AAA. But they insisted, so I provided it. I also told them that I don't use my cell ph and I rarely hear it ring. THE VERY NEXT DAY I received an unwanted and not authorized text from them touting their CLOSET business! They literally violated my trust the very next day! About two weeks later, I received a second text, this one informing me that my order was ready. I didn't need a reminder nor did I ask for a reminder.
They had my items for two weeks. I picked them up, brought them home and tossed them into the laundry to be washed before I wear them. Then we discovered that they had PERMANENTLY AFFIXED their sticker over the laundry instructions! These are new items, so I needed to be able to see the laundry instructions. Thanks a lot for mucking up the laundry instructions, Guys.
I will not return. The caftans were shortened and the work is good. But their permanent sticker placed over laundry instructions is a strike against them. The fact that they put my cell ph# into a database for marketing texts KNOWING that I don't want anyone using that number is a deal breaker for me. Total disrespect for their customers.
