Mold in our Home: Blatant negligence by Closets by Design Installer. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND UNLESS YOU WANT MOLD IN YOUR HOME !, The installer for Closets by Design while installing the kitchen pantry tip in screw for fall protection on top of the pantry hit the sewer pipe that caused sewage water to leak near our food containers and caused Mold all around the walls and Insulation with sewage water leaking around it. The pictures show all the damage done to our home our walls by the Gross Negligence of Closets by Design Installers. The Installer DID NOT have or used any STUD Finder or any other tools to avoid hitting the sewer pipe during the installation thus clearly showing that Closets by Design does NOT care about the destroying customers homes or have the skilled or professional installers or they provide the, with needed tools or compensation to do a professional installation. They rush through jobs and these mistakes are made and customers like us are left to suffer it's Mold inside our home as a direct result of their negligence. See the pictures for all the damage and Mold caused by Closets by Design and absolutely do not hire these crooks who pretend to be experts in Closets design and Installation while all they do is destroy customers homes and their health with Mold in their homes and walls by hitting their "Sewer pipes ". Think about this dirty sewage water was near our food storage and within 6 feet of our stove in the kitchen. Closets by Design doesn't care about it and it would happen to you because their installers do not have the tools or the expertise and do not care if they pierce your pipe and flood the walls and home or in our case the sewer pipe and cause mold in our home. We learned our lesson the hard way but I want others to be aware as we are the cautionary tale for the greed and neglect of Closets by Design who employ sub standard installers who do not have the right tools or expertise and what happened to us and as you can see from the pictures is a living proof of the same !! read more

Our home was built in 1993 and our closets were installed with wire shelves, which didn't maximize the space. Well, I came home to a fallen shelf in our master closet, with all of our belongings on the floor. (Not a good day) On that day, we KNEW that we wanted customized designs for all of our closets because neither one of us wanted to experience that again. We reached out to one company and they didn't work out for us. As luck would have it, we received a flyer advertising Closets By Design. The call was made and the appointment was set for a consultation. That's when we met Dana! Sweet, sweet Dana. She stopped, looked and listened and asked all of the right questions. Phillip, the installer, was timely, professional and made me feel VERY COMFORTABLE in my own home. He was set to arrive between 8-10 AM, he arrived at 7:53AM and completed all of the installs, for three closets before 1PM. He even made time for a few belly rubs for our Shih Tzu (dog). As a result of Dana's attention to detail and the expectations that were set during the consultation, there were no disappointments after the job was completed. I have Dana's number in my phone and will not hesitate to contact her directly for any more of our closet organization needs. The time between consultation to installation was approx. 3 weeks, I suggest using that down time to purge! You'll be glad that you did! We would highly recommend CBD. We moved into a new construction town home and needed a more functional and aesthetically pleasing master bedroom walk-in closet vs the wire racks installed by the builder. We asked several companies to design a solution based on specific requirements. Lisa B. came up with a great design and worked with us to tweak and adjust in order to best meet our needs. Of all that we consulted, Lisa's design had the best possible use of the entire space. We we're so please with CBD and Lisa that we called her to design 3 additional spaces: kitchen pantry, linen closet shelving, and a custom "entry welcome center". Again Lisa collaborated with us and made adjustments as needed to best meet our needs. All 4 areas turned out beautiful and most importantly functional. On installation day, the team arrived on time and worked until all 4 areas were completed in the same day. They were professional and respectful of our home. After the installation, we noticed a few minor issues and CBD promptly sent out a crew to repair. read more

Rosemary was our designer who came to our home to take measurements and give us ideas on both our 6 x 6 master closet and our office room closet. She was professional and full of great ideas, gave us suggestions and several plans to choose from. The worst thing was waiting 2 mo. to get them installed and why I should have given 4 stars BUT the results were worth it so they get 5. Our installers were Leve(sp?) and Hiram, they couldn't have been nicer or more professional. Yes the shelving is not real wood but they look great, the hanging rods which were chrome are very sturdy and brackets fit well. They brought drop cloths, cleaned up and carried away the old wire shelving that they removed and spackled before installation! We were very impressed with the quality and look of our Everyday option in white. I did a lot of research on other companies and their price, w a sale going on, was comparable to others who did not do installation so I felt like I got a deal. read more

We contacted CBD because of their promo, just to see what would happen and I am so glad we did because we love our Bourbon Room. It is honestly the most beautiful room I've ever seen and by far the best in our house and that's saying a lot because we just finished a complete Kitchen Remodel last year. I had a vision of what I wanted - something that didn't look like a closet, but more like a cigar/speak easy vibe and we got just that. I know I was probably difficult at times, but our designer Roxanne Lineberger handled ours changes well and in the end we got exactly what we'd hoped for. We opted for no system holes so that the shelving was stationary and that is honestly what puts this room over the top. People ask who built it and don't believe it's a closest company, which was the goal. Even our dogs love the room most because it's dark and cool. read more

I want to take this opportunity to praise Closets by Design and Robin for her excellent design and customer service. We greatly appreciated her guidance as we stumbled through what we thought we wanted and what made the most sense. Robin very patiently helped us understand what was possible and why and how we could get everything we wanted with a few tweaks to our original concept. We have had two closets and one cabinet built-in done with Closets by Design - so far - and we could not be happier. The redesigned closets and cabinet have helped make the "downsizing" to a smaller home a bit more manageable. I can't rave enough about my experience with Closets by Design (Charlotte NC). Sandy was a consummate professional as my closet design consultant and advisor. She spent hours walking me through options for both my master closet and my pantry. Where I thought I had a preference, she was advise me on what would work better, and she was absolutely right! Carlos and Jeff showed up on time to install both the closet and pantry systems, and were done within hours. My closet feels so luxurious. I can fit all of my clothes, shoes and accessories in it, and I have room to spare. It's a big change from the wire shelving system that came with the house. The same goes for the pantry. My small appliances feel more secure with the wood shelving as opposed to the wire option. This was money well spent. read more

Second time using Closets by Design and both experiences have been great. Used a different designer this time since our original designer had moved away from the area. Our new designer, Sandy, was great. Helped design a new pantry and laundry room with what we wanted and would be best for us, not just what she wanted or what the company offered. The instal team was great. Samuel and Victor came in and were very nice and respectful as well as installed a great job. My wife loved that they either took off their shoes or wore the booties around the house. They cleaned up their areas and even cleaned up the garage where they did the cuts since it was raining that day. Overall a great project and would use them again without any hesitation. read more

I had cabinets installed in my garage. The designer did a fabulous job. I was told (after waiting 3 months for the installation) that they would be here all day the first day and half of day 2nd day. When they got here they were only here 2 hours on 1st day. I had taken off work for the whole day, The 2nd day 2 men came and 1 person left for over 3 hours, consequently they had to work until 7pm to get the cabinets done. I had not anticipated taking 2 full days off from work BUT the cabinet do look fabulous and we are very excited to have that behind us. We waited 3 months for the cabinets and the scheduling was not as I was told but they did a fabulous job and they worked very hard. read more

From the custom designs that were worked through multiple times (shout out to Katy M!) to the professional crew that installed the closet itself, I am incredibly satisfied with the work done. The crew was able to take a large closet space in an old home (with a single hanging rod) and make the best use of the space based on my needs. The amount of useful square footage I've gained is amazing. I'm already trying to figure out my next project with Closets By Design. I'm an incredible practical person and getting this work done may seem frivolous in nature, but I promise you're going to wish you'd done it sooner. Debra was our consultant who was professional, experienced and an excellent source for information to make our closet design and laundry room cabinet design spectacular. She also quickly responded to any e-mail follow up questions that we had and contacted us when the installation was completed to find out if we were satisfied with everything. The only problem I had was the wait. I had to wait a few months to get the install due to overbooking. The company might want to add a few more installers so that customers don't have to wait so long. However, it was worth the wait!! My daughter and I are in love. Linda was so sweet and did an excellent job making the vision in my head become a reality. It's better than what we imagined. On the day of the install they arrived at 8 am sharp, wearing masks. Installation plus clean up time was complete by lunch time. I was a little concerned about the noise level because I'm currently working from home, but even that was very minimal. read more

Great work. So happy. I love my closet. It is a pleasure to walk in my closet now. I can see everything at once. I am not going back and forth from closet to bathroom to bedroom a thousand times to get ready. The install was a refreshing delight. I did not have to do anything. They kept my floors clean (no shoe policy in my home) and worked faster than I expected. When he told me he was finished and if I wanted to come take a look, I couldn't believe how nice they completed the job. They patched the holes on the wall from taking down the wire racks nicely. Sooooo pleased From the beginning meeting with Debbie was the start to know we were going to be so happy. We took too manny years thinking we can do this on our own my husband is a architect so perfection is what expects . We got that and more ! Not only did they visit me at work because I could not take a day, they gave me a few personalized designs, offered the 40% discount,and financing options. This is the second house we have used Closets By Design in Charlotte, NC. From our designer Kristen, to Melody in the office and to the installers, everything went smooth. Robert and Jose were our installers and they couldn't have been more friendly and professional. They all did an EXCELLENT job at transforming our old closet into a well used space while cleaning up after themselves leaving the new space spotless. 5 Stars indeed!!!
