I enjoyed shopping here. It's well organized, nice clothes and accessories. I plan to take my adult daughter here when she comes into town.

Took some really nice things in and they texted to say there was an offer. Some of the items were even new. When I got there, I was given three ($3). It wasn't even WORTH THE DRIVE. This is my favorite consignment shop in Columbia. They have a wide selection and sizes of clothes to purchase. The store is divided by color selections and then size. I buy a lot of retail in department stores, online, and at discount stores like TJ Maxx. The thing I like about Clothes Mentor is I always find something different or unique there and many times the item will still have the tags on it. I had heard that selling your clothes can be tricky there. They don't take everything and pay very little for expensive items. I brought two large bags full of clothes, a bag of expensive coats, along with a backpack, and a Dooney and Burke handbag in the store. They took everything except five shirts. I did get less than I would have at Poshmark. However, they took some of the items that have been hanging out on Poshmark unsold. I probably would have had them sold if I had gone cheaper on Poshmark, but it is way more convenient going to Clothes Mentor. They gave me $ for my clothes up front and in little over an hour. There is no annoying checklist to do and I don't have to mail anything like with Poshmark. The store is way cleaner than with most other consignment stores. There is a faint scent of a Yankee Candle spray that I always smell when shopping there. I think the scent is Sun-drenched Apricot Rose. Another thing is the sales people are super helpful. Anytime I have ever needed anything, they are always eager to help out. Super complimentary and generally wonderful to deal with. One time I drank a huge amount of water and had to use the restroom. The lady led me to the back of the store and waited while I used the facilities. The bathroom was clean and smelled nice. Also, I have rarely ever waited around at this store for anything. The sales people will start me a basket if they notice my hands are full. There is usually one or two sales people floating around at the front which makes getting a dressing room a breeze. Checking out usually goes pretty fast, too! read more

The asking if you need help every 5 minutes it's overly excessive. in 30 minutes you would've been asked 6 times. they don't wash anything before getting put out. many clothes have a horrible smell. They buying and selling process is a joke it doesn't matter how in date your clothes are they either won't take them or will give you $2 per item. They don't look up anything when it comes to buying they literally just pick things based off their judgment. If they like the clothes it's a yes if they don't it's a no, doesn't matter if it's brand new, in date, tags, designer. if they don't like it they won't take it. they take out what they want based solely on the buyers judgement. Something could be brand new and just came out, if they think it's old then it's a no. Doesn't matter how much an item is worth they will barely give you any money and then turn around and sell it for way more. I've seen tags on clothes that are sold for more than the previous tags. For example, a shirt came from tjmaxx and says $9 they'll turn around and make it $11. read more

My first time coming to this store and tried to sell some of my beloved items. The first impression, the store was neat and very organized. I really like it. However, I went to the buyer and asked about selling clothes. She was not very pleasant. I did not put my clothes in trash bags. They were in tote bags. I had a lot of clothes but she only took one coat which was fine for me as trying to 'earn some money' is never what I am going for. She mentioned that 'all of these clothes are better off in Plato's Closet'. What does that suppose to mean? I am not gonna argue about my clothes but as a fashion and beauty blogger/content creator, it was pretty offensive. I have been to Plato's Closet and they rejected some of my clothes. To me, it is fine. It is all based on demands. Some store might accept some don't. I suggest that if you are looking to sell your authentic and 'new' branded clothes, there are better options like Poshmark, Depop or Vestiaire Collective (brands). It is worth the wait. I checked on their website to see what brands they like prior to visiting by the way. Anyway, I would have given a 1 star but I put 2 because I think the store is very clean and things are really nicely done. However, the margin profits were too high. read more

I love finding a good deal and was hopeful when trying this place out. While, they did have a lot to choose from, Ive never found anything I want. The staff was okay, but I not extremely helpful. They posted a set of Christian Louboutins to their facebook for sale and I reached out concerning authenticity. I was careful not to be rude and absolutely did not jump to conclusions claiming they were 100% fake. I stated they looked suspicious, gave my reasoning as to why, but also suggested a site to help have them authenticated free of charge. This was not an attempt to slander the company, this was an attempt to help keep them from making a mistake and to help potential buyers have them properly authenticated prior to or immediately following purchase. Clothes mentor not only blocked me (ohh painful), but also deleted my comments (sorry to future potential buyers if you do miss the warning). I am not a certified authenticator, but I do help authenticate items and provide assistance. I was not rude at all. I even wished them good luck because the shoes were in great condition and set at a good price. However, seeing as how they dont care about proper authentication or the help to do so, and they choose to hide the advice from customers and block potential customers...Theyve completely lost my trust and I wouldnt dare shop at a place that "fights" back towards helpful assistance and potential buyers simply because they didnt appreciate a "negative" comment. (Are you run by a 12 year old?) As stated, the shoes may have be authentic, but when talking designer level money, wouldnt you want to know youre 100% not getting ripped off? I posted a photo of the conversation where my advice was deleted. I also posted the same advice from 3 other facebook accounts to give buyers a heads up and CM deleted and blocked those accounts as well. read more

This is by far without a doubt my favey fave place to shop for clothing, shoes, and even parfum or perfume for Mother's Day, Christmas or B-day's. I finally had the chance to take my Mom here after years of RAVING about this place to her!! We came here for the 4th of July special promo and had to shop quick on a Thursday! It was soooo worth it! We ended up getting everything I wanted and needed to top up my summer and pre-fall/winter wardrobe for 20% off I felt like I went on a shopping spree! Free People hooded cardigan, Ann Taylor, Old Navy Luxe tank, & so much more! Score! The total came to under $50 for a major haul that would have been twice the price at Old Navy or T.J.'s even. You can shop here and not feel guilty. The girls here are great and so friendly cuz they know I am a reg! Love, love, love this place. I recommend it all the time! I used to really enjoy dealing with this store and have been in several times over the years. I've even frequently recommended to family and friends who have also dealt with this store. Brought in four bags of clothes today containing "big time" brands (Loft, JCrew, Joes jeans, etc....) and several new (not even six month old items - I just recently changed sizes and can't wear anymore). Four hours later, the store kept only a handful of items and offered me next to nothing for them, stating that my clothes were "old styles." Ironically, three of the items they did keep I'd had since high school (which was sadly more than a handful of years ago). Probably need to hire some better "buyers" who recognize styles and brands...and by the way, the $29 I ended up with today wasn't even worth the gas money. In my opinion, you're better off donating your old clothes than dealing with this store. It sure has changed. Truly insulted. read more
