This is the fourth time I've come to sell clothes that the "counter closed" sign has been up. Now I have to wait another day to donate. Additionally, they now have a sign on the door that says "one container per person" so no larger donations are accepted. Also, has anyone found a consignment store where the employees don't make you feel like trash when you come in to sell clothes? They are always so nasty and like bothered that they're having to sort through clothes... as if I force them to work here?? They turn down brand names like Lululemon, Lucky, and FreePeople but have the audacity to display that fugly dress in the window? Would not recommend. On May7th, I went to this store for the first time. I found a cute white skirt and noticed it had a price tag from Kohl's $12.99 and a price tag for this store at $17.99. I brought it to the attention of the salesperson at the counter. She said the Kohl's tag should have been removed and the price would be $17.99. Why would I be stupid enough to purchase it for $17.99 when it had been for sale at Kohl's for $12.99? I will never return to a business that rips customers off in this manner. read more

Love shopping for unique items at Clothes Mentor - cute things, lots of selection, and good prices.

I like shopping second hand and Clothes Mentor was a place I would frequent a lot for "business casual" clothes! I would recommend going here if you are looking for some "dressier" / "nicer work" clothes. I have gotten several blazers, a long tan trench coat, and some belts that have really stood the test of time. Their layout can be a bit overwhelming but I would recommend going in with a plan and really taking your time to look through everything. Half of the fun of thrift / second hand shopping is finding some hidden gems at discounted prices! I have not sold to them so I cannot speak on that experience. The workers are easy to approach if I have a question or needed a fitting room! I like being left to my own devices while I shop and appreciate that I know they are there if I have any questions. Hmmmm. There was one young woman who was friendly, but the others (including the manager) were rude. Maybe they were having a really bad day? My clothes were in good condition, had been ironed, and were on hangers. I got almost nothing for them. I understand that the brands they take and the inventory they have at any one time fluctuates, but there's no need for acting annoyed towards the person who is bringing in their clothes. I brought 4 pairs of unworn, perfect condition shoes, in sizes 8 and 9 that retail for $400 Chie Mihara (nude pink suede sandals), $500 for La Canadienne (waterproof black suede ankle boots), $195 sandals (Bernardo black and white high heeled sandals), $145 clogs (Kelsi Dagger marine suede). Unworn, mind you. They offered me $49. $49?!?! As in $1 less than $50. For $1240 worth of shoes, tax excluded. I looked up to see a ratty, beat up pair of Swedish Hasbeens boot clogs for $75. I love this store!! So many options and I can always find what I'm looking for. I've also had good luck selling to them, which can be used as store credit so basically I get free clothes My only dislike is how small the store itself is. I've gotten in the habit of shopping on weekdays because on weekends it gets crowded easily because of the small store and they are packed full of clothing racks. What in interesting place. I have taken clothes there several times. Most of my shopping is JCrew, Anthroplogie, Nordstrom, Ann Taylor, Tory Burch, boutiques, etc. Mostly shopping at Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall in Scottsdale, AZ. where I lived for 15 years. Some online shopping from these places. I'm always entertained by what they think is current and on trend, or high end. They passed up new JCrew jeans never worn but laundered and fresh, Donald Pliner black strappy heals (hand made in Spain), Tory Burch Espadrilles like new (not a great shoe for me with a higher arch). I asked out of curiosity why they weren't interested in my clothing for future reference, I don't want to bring them clothing they will always turn down. They told me they don't take anything worn looking, and if it's distressed it needs to be intentional. As they are telling me this, I look over and see a really unfortunate looking pair of jeans hanging on an end rack. I got home and took my clothes out of my basket and saw my favorite Lucky boot cut jeans with intentional but slight distressing, and boy was I glad they didn't want them! I paid about $160 for them at the Lucky Store in Scottsdale, and they were not supposed to be in that basket! Whew! Anyhow, they determine what they want, but I question their taste. Clothes Mentor has a great concept and good selection of clothing and accessories, but a few things made my experience less than desirable. The first is the appearance of the store itself - it reminds me of an old Mervyn's and not in a good way. The carpet is worn and dark and from the outside it looks like you traveled back in time. The more concerning thing was the staff working - they were friendly and welcoming enough when I brought things in to sell, but on both occasions I came in to shop, no one spoke to me or welcomed any of the customers, and multiple staff members were gossiping loudly behind the counter the entire time about clothes they had seen earlier that day, their weekend plans, and how they were reserving certain items for themselves that they wanted rather than putting on the sales floor. Just a turn off. Lastly, they offer a few bucks more for store credit, which forces you to take less money for your items in cash or return to shop there. So-so experience. read more

I have been going to CM for 10 years. The last few times have been very disappointing. The inventory has decreased. No coach purses (they wouldn't buy my like new ones either) I too have brought them lovely items with very recognizable names and they wont take them . Many of the things on the rack are in very bad condition and CHEAP brands. Im done with them; will start going to thrift stores, same brands much cheaper. read more

I've been shopping at Clothes Mentor Fort Collins for over 5 years! It's my number one place to look when I'm in need of something to add to my closet or because I may have a clothing addiction and I absolutely love their prices and staff! I love that I can find designer clothes and accessories along with things I've seen at target but knew if I waited I could find it at Clothes Mentor! What's even better is when I am ready to say goodbye to some of my own clothes I take it in to sell and I get store credit so I can buy more clothes! It's honestly a never ending cycle, but I'm absolutely not mad about it!!! I wouldn't be lying if I told you my whole closet is from Clothes Mentor! Buyer here. After reading the reviews I was skeptical, but needed a dress for a wedding. The store was clean (and actively being sanitized) and did not smell. The staff was pleasant and attentive. The clothes were in great shape and well priced. I was super impressed and will definitely return. Yes, there's a ton of stock and you have to browse the racks - but that also means great selection. I have sold to Clothes Mentor all over the country and this one is, by far, the absolute worst! The associates are not friendly and sometimes just downright rude! They don't have clear communication around their buying, nothing on their website at all. I have to drive 40 min to get there and they were only buying 1 bin that day. Was told it was because they were short staffed but there were 3 ladies there that day who clearly had time to stand behind the register talking. They need new ownership/management. read more

I so want to love this store but I just can't. Numerous visits and i can't find anything to love. Too many clothes- just crammed together. I like to shop but I get over it fast. Not overly excited about their buying ability as a lot of the items aren't in style. The main thing I have difficulties with is the staff. Every visit there is no smiles, no greeting, no customer service. Today I went in and instead of hearing " hi there" or "is there anything your looking for?" I heard this instead: " well I don't drink anymore" " the last time I had a drink was Oct 20th" " I got drunk on Monday" Giggle giggle giggle. I love this place. It's perfect from young to elderly ladies alike to find great deals or bargains here for high quality clothes and accessories. This store features used clothing which are still in mint condition for really low prices. The ladies that work here have great customer service. The bathroom was pristine, by the way. Most glorious bathroom I have seen in any retail store. I made an awesome purchase of a cute red sweater from Wet Seal for $14. Looks brand new! Also among my finds were a grey cardigan sweater from the Sarah Spencer collection for get this: $4! Just 4 bucks. Looks brand new as well. Found myself a great-fitting pair of jeans for $14 that's by the Denim Laboratory. All my new clothes didn't cost me too much. I would have probably spent the same amount combined for all purchases for just one pair of jeans from Macy's. And the best part - the quality is fantastic! Thank goodness not the price. Not sure what's with all the bad reviews. Went in here for the first time today and my experience exceeded my expectations based on what others have said here. I was greeted upon arrival and found the selection and prices to be satisfactory. I bought 3 shirts for like $21. Definitely a good place for quality business and business casual clothing. Wish they had more cute dresses though! They offer a punch card that you can use for 20% off your purchase once full - even got an extra stamp for not taking a bag, which I appreciate. I had a very concerning experience at Clothes Mentor on Saturday (4.29.17). I dropped off two bins of items and came back when they had finished pricing what they were going to buy. As I was looking through everything (I decided not to sell as the payment amount was negligible and I'd rather take everything to donate to a charity of my choosing), I noticed a pair of silver/diamond accented hoops I had brought in were missing. I brought it up and this is where the issues began. First, no one was concerned at all that they were missing. I was literally alone, on my knees in their store, looking through my things for the earrings while all of the employees went about their business. Second, one woman with salt/pepper feathered hair was particularly rude and passive aggressive. She continually interjected in a conversation I was having with another staff person. She stated that the cameras could be checked by the manager (to essentially prove me wrong). She said that "now we have two employees (a younger woman dark brown hair and a younger woman with blonde hair) saying that there were no earrings." She also asked the employee who checked in my items if I ever actually showed her the earrings. Here's the thing: I stated multiple times that I wasn't accusing anyone of anything; I specifically stated that my earrings could have fallen out somewhere (when they were opening bags). And I was met with a lot of defense. Customer service was lacking...big time. Huge! The issue is less the earrings than the way the situation was handled. Even though I knew the earrings were in the bin when I left my items at the store, I still went home to check just in case (because again, I wasn't accusing anyone of anything). Not surprising, they were not there. I specifically remember putting them in a wristlet I took in before I left the house. I called back and gave them my name and phone number to call me if my earrings are found but based on the feeling I had when I left the store, I know the earrings are gone and I won't get them back. This was my first time ever stepping foot in the store. I will never return. Had anyone taken me seriously and said, "hey, we are really sorry," I would have been okay with it. Things get lost...I totally get that and genuine apologies go a LONG way. But that wasn't the case at all; I was treated as though I was lying about the earrings being in the bin in the first place. Went in to sell some clothes and they said it would take about 30 min to sort it all and pick out what they wanted so I left to grab lunch. When I came back a woman told me they had started sorting but stopped because they found a single item that had a very light musty smell to it (I couldn't smell anything and I have an excellent nose but whatever). I asked if they could just put it aside and pick out the things they wanted and they said they would not accept clothes that weren't "rack ready." I said there was plenty more in the bag that was just fine but she refused to even look at them because of the one item that she said had a very light odor, and again I literally shoved my face in all the clothes and smelled nothing. She was very rude, very snippy, and just because of her awful and unfriendly attitude towards me I will not be returning in an attempt to sell again nor as a customer even though it did look like they had some OK stuff. The money you get for your things is hit or miss. I don't mind not getting much in exchange for putting it towards new stuff after cleaning out my closet. What drives me nuts though is the smell. I don't know if they spray something or what it's from, but when I put clothes I buy from there in my laundry basket to wash before first use, it stinks up my whole bedroom with an awful smell that makes me cough. I used to sell clothes here but I am fed up. They will always quote you 20-30 minute wait times and then 90 minutes later they still haven't sorted your buy! This happens to me every single time. Horrible customer service!! Also, their buying process is VERY subjective, depends on who you get and what their personal style is and what their mood happens to be. There is a new young guy working there and I doubt he is even 18 but he is one of the people that decides what they will buy. Ridiculous! He knows nothing about women's style or jewelry. I took in several designer jeans, shoes and dresses, and a ton of high quality jewelry. He took forever on my buy and I was looking at a rack of clothes right near him and I was in plain sight and he went throught my stuff with a totally snobby attitude and actually made fun of some of my clothes. He also picked up some silver rings and declared they were fake. They are marked! He passed on almost everything. I went back the next day, with the same exact stuff, made sure I got a different buyer and she bought all but two of my items. Some of their buyers are horrible and some have a clue. But you can't really control who you get and in the end it is not worth the hassle of trying at different times or on different days. Also, twice I have gone in with jewelry in perfect condition and when they are done with their inspection a rhinestone or two is missing. I also went in with several clothes that still had the tag on them and had to come back the next morning. Two of the items no longer had the tag on them!! I asked for a Manager to call me and she never did. I left 3 messages after this and never heard back. If you are interested in buying from them you might have some luck, you do have to dig. I have a few great items (mostly jewelry) from their store. I might still shop there but I will NEVER sell there again. And even if you are just buying, expect crappy and snobby customer service. read more

These people are thieves I took 63 items of quality clothing in was told they would get in touch with me to let me know what they would buy. Two days went by I didn't hear from them so I called and they said they gave them all away. I will be taking them to small claims court. BBB says they get complaints every day on them but they're not a member guess that's why. When I told him I was taking him to court and filing a police report they offered me 30 dollars for the 65 items. They are scammers and should be shut down they're making a lot of money off of clothes we pay hard earned money for the inside looks no better than a good will and customer service is zilch. Sellers: If they tell you a half hour, it's going to be at least an hour.. if not more. I was quoted 30 minutes if I waited in the store and was in there for a hour and 20 minutes. I have to say, I don't care for some of the staff. I called from Greeley to ask when they stopped accepting clothes. The answer was 6:00. I drive all the way and arrive at 5:50 and this young bleach blond male tells me I have to come back tomorrow. The attitude on this young kid was amazing. Like I was a burden to his day. What ever happened to customer service. If people like me don't come in to sell clothes, they don't have a business and this poor mannered kid is without a job. They rarely buy clothes from me anyway and don't pay much. It's really not worth my time I'm discovering.
