I am extremely disappointed with the tuxedo rental service at Clothing From Italy. Initially I was excited to get a fine tuxedo for a wedding in Italy, even knowing that it would cost over $400 - more than twice as much as one I could get locally. I had a video conference on 6/4/25 to review tuxedo measurements and my need date because I was flying out three weeks later. With no update by 6/15/25, I emailed Mr. Rubini regarding my concern about delivery time. With no response by 6/19, I called Mr. Rubini to cancel my order. He assured me he could get it to me in time and I signed/returned the rental agreement the next day. Mr. Rubini assembled and shipped the tuxedo that day, 6/20/25 - via USPS! The tuxedo was delivered to my house on 6/30/25, four days AFTER I left for Italy. I returned the tuxedo as soon as I got home. I requested a full refund from Clothing For Italy on 7/26/25. With a chance to do the right thing, Mr. Rubini did not respond. I hope you get better service with Clothing From Italy. read more

Extremely Disappointed - Poor Service, No Accountability I had a very frustrating experience with Giuliano at Clothing From Italy. I came in on Thursday, 5/22/25, needing a tuxedo rental by the following Thursday. I was fully aware that this was a tight timeframe, so I asked multiple times if it would be possible. Giuliano assured me it would be ready by Saturday. During this initial visit, I was treated well--he took my measurements and discussed options with me. However, when I came in on Tuesday, 5/26/25, for the scheduled pickup, Giuliano didn't recognize me and had clearly forgotten the order. Nothing had been prepared. He apologized and promised it would be ready the next day, adding that he would call me once it was done. I reminded him that I absolutely needed the tux by 11 a.m. Thursday to catch a train. By late Wednesday, I still hadn't heard from him, so I called. He had forgotten again--this time blaming the tailor. During the call, I again emphasized my Thursday deadline, and he reassured me it would be ready. Shockingly, about 30 minutes later, Giuliano called again asking what he could do for me, clearly forgetting our earlier conversation. When I arrived Thursday morning (5/29/25), Giuliano wasn't there. Another staff member helped me try on the tux, which was in unacceptable condition. Two pairs of pants were included--neither tailored and both far too small. The tuxedo jacket was the wrong style (one-button instead of two) and was missing a button. The shirt was boxy and unflattering. To her credit, the employee acknowledged the situation and told me Giuliano would arrive shortly. I returned after 30 minutes and waited another 15 for him to show up. When Giuliano finally arrived, he was defensive and blamed the tailors again, citing his lack of sleep. We spent nearly an hour trying to piece together a functional outfit. I ended up with a jacket that fit reasonably well (though it had a poorly attached button), loose-fitting pants, and the same boxy shirt. At the last minute, Giuliano said he'd swapped the shirt for a better-fitting one and placed it in the garment bag. I didn't have time to try it on, as I had already missed two trains. At the wedding the next day, I opened the bag to find that the shirt was unusable--torn, stained, and missing buttons. There was also a hole in the pants. Thankfully, I had brought a backup shirt and suit. I was able to wear the jacket, pants, and bow tie, but the condition and fit were far below what I was led to expect. I also felt overcharged for the shirt, cufflinks, and tailoring that never happened. Upon returning the tux, I explained the issues to Giuliano and requested a partial refund. He deflected blame again, claiming the cleaners had damaged the shirt and even suggested the hole in the pants could have been my fault. He refused a refund, citing a policy against refunds on custom items--even though no real tailoring had been done. He instead offered a future rental credit of $400, which I declined. Shortly after, Giuliano sent me an email making false claims: that I tried everything on before leaving and was satisfied with the tux. That is simply untrue--I never got to try on the final shirt, and I was not "happy" with the suit as it was a 1 button rather than 2 (what I requested) I just did not have the time to fix all of Giuliano's errors.. He also criticized me for not contacting him sooner, despite me visiting the store multiple times and making my time constraints very clear. By the time I saw the condition of the Shirt that Giuliano swapped out it was too late for him to do anything. At every turn, Giuliano failed to take responsibility, follow through on promises, or deliver the quality of service expected. Rather than tell me from the start that my timeline was too tight for him, he overpromised and failed to deliver. I lost time, money, and peace of mind trying to make this work. I strongly advise others to avoid Clothing From Italy and Giuliano if you value professionalism, accountability, and basic customer service. read more

Do yourself a favor, save your hard earned $ and piece of mind. Spent well over $3K for a suit (for my wedding) and got over sold and WAY under-delivered. The suit was so poorly tailored and was given to me extremely wrinkled. Really? $3K and you can't even steam out the wrinkles? I asked another clothing (suits) store owner his opinion and he was absolutely horrified at the product that was given to me for the amount of money Clothing of Italy charged for that product... #ripped-off This other store was so helpful and were able to tailor the suit correctly and do it in a rush (within 2 days). This is a review about personal service. At San Francisco airport, waiting to board a plane to Boston, I discovered that I had no dress pants in my suitcase. My all-day meeting began at 9:00 am the next day in Boston. Clothing from Italy is located close to the meeting location, so I called them at 5:00 pm Eastern time (closing time for most businesses). I explained my problem. The (owner?) offered to make me a custom pair of pants, without a fitting session, if I would accept the results. Of course I would! He offered to adjust the fit later when I had more time. Unfortunately his tailor had just left for the day. He offered to call the tailor back to work. He even offered to deliver the pants to my hotel that night. Unfortunately I was staying 25 miles outside of Boston, and that just didn't work. I knew Giuliano from when his family operated a very chic boutique in Central Square in Cambridge. Back then there were many more dedicated men's stores around. Even the Harvard Coop before it was a Barnes and Noble had a whole floor devoted to men's furnishings. What Giuliano has done that is different is move the family business into the modern age, with his own very "cool" look and sensibility infused into both the boutique and the clothes he displays. It's a stylish urban look that immediately sets you apart from the "run of the mill" stuff you see even in higher end department stores or the cookie cutter generic garbage from mall anchors. The pieces are unique, well-stitched and styled, and won't cost you the arm or the leg you're about to fit through the sleeve or trouser you're putting on. Add to that Mr. Rubini's discrete and highly attentive personal service he gives all his customers, and you're ready to step out into Boston already owning the town!! I've bought two beautiful wool overcoats, suits, scarves and ties from him but he also sells custom shoes, made-to-order suits, shirting, the works! Hello I would just like to say that the owner/employee that was working to 06/29 was extremely rude to my husband who ducked into his door way just to get out of the lighting, thunder and torrential rain. And owner told him to move along!! What! Like he was a piece of crap and that he is not allowed to stand in his doorway!!! Really! how extremely rude of this business owner!! I am going to Italy next month and I pray that the people are nicer then this man. He gives the Italian nationality a very bad reputation!! Karma, Karma goes around! Rude shop owner, walked in looking for a suit, told him my budget he tried to push a higher price on me even though I told him I was a student. He proceeded to show me a "fine suit" it was cheap, I could tell by the large stitching and then insisted it was the finest and kept trying to push it on me, when I finally tried to be polite and say no he got angry and when I went to change out of it he demanded I leave my bag out front as if to say I was a thief, funny he didn't have a problem with me taking it with me when he thought I was buying something... this shop was recommended to me, I've already made certain the person who recommended it will no longer be doing that and he will be going elsewhere himself from now on ***Update 12/2018 The owner has contacted me and offered a espresso and for me to come back so we can be friends, the answer is a resounding no. You don't get to be rude and treat someone like a criminal and then turn around and try to sweet talk them when they call you out on your despicable behavior expecting that it will make it ok. Read the reviews before you go here. Strongly recommend going to Hive&Colony instead. Their service is faster, cheaper and they don't lie to you like the owner of "Clothing From Italy". The attire I got was extremely poor fitting despite taking measurements multiple times. When I asked for specifics, I was promised that I could get exactly what I wanted, but once the attire arrived, it was nothing even close to what I wanted and had described. And, there is no refund. The owner even admitted to me that he often gets complaints and disappointed customers, which is honest of him, but I just wish I had read the reviews beforehand. This is my husband's favorite clothing store. He took me here one evening after we'd had dinner nearby. We both admired the fine quality of the clothing and the classic Italian style. At Christmas time I went back and bought him a gorgeous handknit cardigan, which he loves and wears all the time. The sweet elderly Italian lady who works at the store will gladly help you find the perfect addition to any gentleman's wardrobe, and she will assure you repeatedly of its Italian authenticity (she's adorable!). You will leave feeling charmed and having a much better sense of the traditional "bella figura"! read more

I went to their old store location and bought a couple pairs of jeans and a pair of shoes. The jeans are now my favorite, the shoes have worn well. At the time, the nice lady mentioned they were moving to (or adding) a Bromfield Street location. I have not been yet, but I am overdue. read more
