Came in for quality check .... FCC Nation & C9 is still the best tolls on the menu ... annnnd curtain. Service was fast & efficient per usual. Not too busy on New Year's Day.

Maybe not the best quality of sushi, but what do you expect in Cincinnati? The best part about it is it's 1/2 off when you dine in! The best roll on the menu is definitly the Sunday Morning roll. This is a nostalgic hole in the wall restaurant from when I was in college. They stay open late (2 AM) so it has always been a great spot to stop after a night of drinking. It is my favorite sushi spot for 1/2 off and the servers have a chill vibe.

The sushi was excellent and was priced at 1/2 off. The calamari was pretty bland and didn't taste entirely cooked. The miso soup was decent, though. The only issue with this location was the 2HR parking lot. If you want to stay longer in the area, try street parking! Service and Ambiance were great!

Coming back to update my review after 2 years and just to say cloud 9 has been and is always consistently amazing! We love coming here any day or time, the sushi or entrees are always great. The hosts and servers are always so nice too, great place. Best in town for half price sushi!

My favorite cheap sushi restaurant in Cincinnati. Very basic restaurant and not somewhere you go for the ambiance. The quality is good for the price. Lots of options for sushi rolls.

"Half Off" (40% carry out) sushi but its not worth it for the poor quality. Cloud 9 used to be my go to for cheap but decent sushi. Went to satisfy a craving recently and was disappointed. Speed was good for takeout and the staff was very polite and quick. The sushi was bland, not fresh or frozen, and just not good. I got three rolls and none of them was good while 1 (baked salmon) was depressing. Rather just lose the fish and have the other ingredients but event those were half quality. Wont be back and cannot recommend the location anymore. 5/10

Going off of reviews, this seemed to be a great place to get some delicious sushi. To begin, the service was great but then when it comes down to the quality and taste it certainly wasn't there. Cloud 9 lacks here. Our sushi tasted like it was in the refrigerator for awhile. The salmon in one of the tasted very fishy which normally fresh salmon would not have a fishy flavor. What makes it even worse is that the salmon was marinated in Sriracha sauce and you still get that fishy taste. For appetizer we had the gyoza. I've had better elsewhere, just reminded me of a frozen brand in Kroger I once had in the past. I'm quite puzzled how you get five stars???

You can't find better sushi for a better price anywhere in Cincinnati! Open late at night, fast, friendly service, dive-y atmosphere.

Ask the Community - Cloud 9 Sushi

Is the carryout sushi half priced?

    No; only dine-in!

Are all sushi rolls and sashimi half price all day everyday of the week? Are the prices half off on the menu or is the discount taken off the check?

All rolls are half price the whole day, I'm not sure about the sashimi. The menu has the full price on it and then they will take it off on the check.

I went here for my birthday in December, best sushi I've ever had. This puts every sushi I have…read moreever had in a lower class. The service was impeccable and they were so knowledgeable about every fish and all the prep into it. The ambiance was interesting, we had a girl begging for soy sauce and the chef just gave her salt. Was kinda funny to watch but made a little bit of tension. I think the chef handled it in a mature manner, the customer was clearly drunk or something and was not happy with their experience. Like I said this puts all other sushi in a lower classification. So much effort and thought into everything.

I went to the Thursday 5:00 p.m. seating, and I know I got lucky getting a reservation. I logged on…read morearound 7:00 that morning to book, and I was able to get one on my first try. Several people in my group said they'd tried multiple times without any luck. From what I've heard, Thursday at 5:00 is one of the easier reservations to get, because the Friday and Saturday 7:00 p.m. seatings disappear almost instantly. I've had sushi all over the country (although not all over the world), and this was hands down the best sushi I've ever had. The quality of the fish is incredible--they fly it in from Japan--and every course was beautifully presented. The pairings the chef came up with were amazing and really let the fish shine. The menu changes every day and every season, so you'll never have the exact same experience twice. One of my favorite surprises was the miso soup. The chef explained that the broth is made using the bones from the fish we were eating that evening, and it was honestly one of the best bowls of miso soup I've ever had. The only suggestion I'd make is to have a simple printed menu with the names of each course and maybe a few notes about the ingredients. The chef explains every course, but there are so many Japanese names and details that it's hard to remember everything by the time you leave. I would have loved something to take notes on or even just glance at while he was talking. The only other thing I noticed was that the ending felt just a little rushed. There are seatings at 5:00, 7:00, and 9:00, and by the end of our meal the next group was already waiting in the entryway. It wasn't a big deal, but it was noticeable. The experience is $115 per person, and the required 20% gratuity is paid when you make the reservation. You can also order alcoholic drinks during dinner. At the end, the chef offers an optional add-on (ours was either a $30 bowl or a $12 roll). I skipped it because it featured a type of fish that usually isn't my favorite, but after seeing what the chef did with everything else, I was honestly tempted to give it a try. Maybe next time. This was one of those meals that you keep thinking about long after it's over. Everything was thoughtful, beautifully prepared, and absolutely delicious. I can honestly say it's the best sushi I've ever had, and I'd love to come back every season to see how the menu changes.
