Including the record/band/artist reference book in the front, where those artist/band and album name books used to be periodically mailed out to his record store and other stores, by a certain company. Though from what he told me, that company stopped producing those reference books by the early 2000s, sadly to say. The unfortunate thing is that too many other Chicago record stores seem a little overpriced IMO for their used records, such as for example Rattleback Records in Andersonville(Chicago) and Rediscover Records(Elgin). I'm glad this store wasn't like that for being overpriced for used records, and actually OTOH was pretty affordable. Their prices for used CDs, DVDs, and tapes was decent, as well. Yes no doubt for some people this store may be slightly out of the way. But I'd say for darn sure if you do like browsing in a record store, you should visit here at least once in your life! I do like how the inside of this store still felt pretty old school in its inside look, as well. And probably little changed, from when(I think) it first opened in the 1970s.

They also carry a huge amount of used stereo equipment and Joe can answer just about any question you might have on any subject you can come up with regarding stereo equipment, speakers, accessories and jazz music too. He's there on Wednesdays and Saturdays. One caveat: the store can be quite cluttered with stacks of boxes and records and other items and sometimes they make it hard to get through aisles or inhibit your ability to shop items they have in stock. That's to both you and the shop's detriment. I brought it up to the owner once and he got short with me, so I left and haven't been back since, only because it's about an hour's drive for me. My nephew took in his now grown sons stereo for repair. It was just before covid. Then covid hit. We were all sick and things happen. It sat awhile. My nephew kept in touch about it tho. Several texts went back and forth as did a few calls. Suddenly it can't be found! Hmmm how odd! When my nephew called he was told it was "lost" or possibly thrown out! I sincerely doubt either! It's worth on ebay $250-$400 and Tim is well aware of that! To do this to someone he's known since 5 and is now 23 is sad, rude and sketchy to say the least! When my nephew confronted him he basically asked him to leave the store! I've personally heard other record store owners comment on his business practices. They were not positive at all. It's his karma! He had the nerve to try and SELL him ANOTHER for $150 I would not shop here! I certainly would not bring anything in to get fixed. He never called, texted or emailed and said you NEED to pick up your stereo or it will be considered abandoned or sold or anything! He never gave a straight answer! Buyer beware!
