Was recently here in Feb 2019 for the Duke vs NC State game. Came at a popular time and was seated at a table for four. Overall, the beer wall was cool (although my wristband 'tapped out at 32 ounces and required the "assistance of a friendly staff member" for recharging). I ordered a beer-gur and my wife ordered a traditional burger, and our guests ordered the fried chicken sandwich. We also got calamari for our table. Had a good time with the game on all TVs. Food was OK. Nothing to write home about but everything tasted good. It is a sports bar and the food is very much on pat given this. But then at 7:50pm a manager came by and said that we would have to leave at 8pm because the table was reserved by another group!?!? And that the only reason why we had been seated at that table was under the assumption that we'd leave at 8pm sharp. Well, no one at our table had been told that at the time we were offered a table (very thankful to be given a table but would not have taken one under the knowledge that we'd be kicked off at 8pm), and our lovely waitress also had no idea that this was the case either. I told her that we'd leave promptly after the Duke game was over (started at 6pm and so would end at around 8pm) but she said we'd have to leave at 8pm whether the game was still going or not. OUCH. Duke vs NC State and duke was up 8pts with plenty of time left in the 2nd half. Well...not exactly how I'd like to be treated in the food industry service business. Plenty of sports bars in town. You'll find me there at the next game and not at Clouds. A real shame. Would be happy to discuss this with any manager or owner at any time. read more

Really excellent food, where the standard burgers/sandwiches stuff is just as good as the less-standard bratwurst, schnitzel, and sauerkraut. Translates beautifully to delivery as well. Clouds has become a staple in my family's culinary life, and it should be a part of yours too. read more

One reason I went to Durham was to visit the local craft breweries. We stopped by here first because they had food as well as beer. This place is more of a taproom and food than a brewery. They have a good many craft beers available on draft, but a very limited selection of their own beer, and they don't brew an IPA! What? Say that again? Yes, I'm sad to say, Clouds doesn't have an IPA. "Well let's move on down the road then!". They did have some other breweries options for IPA's, so had one of those. They also had a pale ale that was hoppy. I tried that and it was good. One thing I like about this place is they will sell you a 4 oz glass. I'm not a big volume drinker. Two 16 oz and I'm full. So, having someone sell a smaller portion gives me more chances to try different things. The food her was pretty good. We had some cheese curds as an appetizer, they were excellent. I had a catfish sandwich, it was good. My wife had a london broil, again, pretty good. Overall, a decent place to come eat. They had TV's, and a nice beer selection. Like I said, more taproom than brewery though. Also would be a good place for a very large group to come and eat. They have lots of sit down space. read more

Not sure what the issue is...too old, too brown, or what. Sitting at the bar, and the bartenders were less than pleasant or service oriented. Seems like every Caucasian and younger patron received quicker service and more personalized attention. I'm not a "race or age monger," but I felt less than served by the one female and male bartenders on duty...both of them young and Caucasian. read more

The food was awesome! The drinks were fun with lots of choices, and the ambience was lively and modern. However, the service was AWFUL! We decided to sit at the bar for better viewing of beer choices and ate dinner and dessert. We were never checked on regarding our food, never asked when our drinks were completely empty and we were enjoying the yummy and rich peanut butter pie if we wanted another drink. It took approximately 10 minutes to be asked if we wanted a check after my husband had already had his wallet and debit card laying on the bar. We asked about the "downpour" feature as the pint night sounded intriguing, and the bar tender told us how much he hates it. This is an extremely cool spot to hang out. A couple of my friends had gone here awhile back and raved about the beer wall that they have and I finally got to go! Although I am not a fan of beer, I think the concept of the beer wall is great. You get a wristband and any time you want to try a new beer from the wall, you scan your wrist band and they charge you by the ounce. Its awesome because this way you can sample various types of beer instead of just one, and not all of them that are featured on the beer wall are available on the normal menu. The brewery itself is huge and it has an open, clean atmosphere to it. There is also a full service liquor bar should you decide that you would rather have a mixed drink. The food here was also awesome. I ordered the salmon, which I won't lie I was a little leery about, but it came out awesome! I ordered the asparagus and the German potato salad to go with it(which I probably could have just eaten by itself because it was that good). I highly recommend going here if you and a group of friends want to go somewhere to hang out in downtown Durham. read more

I'm not one to complain about much when I go out to eat, but....this place had the worst service I've ever had...EVER. The place was not busy at all, and we ordered food that took legit 2 hours before we just canceled our order. We asked about our order a few times in case they just forgot to put it in or something, and it became a running joke about how long it was taking until we couldn't take it anymore & we started to get hangry about it. We didn't get food, canceled our drink order that took 30+ min as well (at least keep me drinking), and no manager came out to say sorry or explain what happened to take care of the situation. I've worked as a server and bartender for years, and this level of poor customer service was pretty shocking. It's one thing for the staff to screw something up, but good lawd management, step up your game! read more

This place was amazing! Love the look of the old wearhouse! The beer selection was large and the food was amazing! We went in on a Friday night and it was busy but multiple people came by our table to check on us and make sure we had been waited on. Excellent place! We will be returning soon!!! read more

So I have written a great review for this place before, but tonight's experience was atrocious. We literally waited hours for drinks and food, which we never received. There was no explanation for why it was taking so long. The manager never acknowledged the lack of service. I will never return. read more

I hosted a party for approximately 50 people including kids and adults at clouds brewing this past weekend. They were absolutely fantastic. The food was hot and fresh and tasty. They kept the drinks coming. The servers were absolutely smooth and ensured that everybody was well taken care of. Thank you for allowing us to have a relaxed and fun party. We took a coworker out for his retirement. The server looked as if he could have cared less. Each of us was served at different times. We repeatedly requested water, drinks, etc. He even stated there was no cola for a mixed drink. The food was so so. The service was the worst I have had in forever. The gratuity was automatically added so he was assured a tip without good service. read more

Michael, our waiter, was excellent. Explained the Downpour Wall famously. The beer selection was very good. He checked on us without being obtrusive. The food was superb. We had short rib nachos, the artichoke feta flat bread, Cloud burger, and even the blackened chicken pasta was delicious. Oh, and the pork rinds were great as a side. read more

New restaurant in Brightleaf, modeled after the one in Raleigh, but this ones better! Have been three times since they've opened and service has been great each time. Food is delicious (recommend the beer cheese) and lots of beer in draft with knowledgeable staff to help you pick if you're undecided. Manager or someone who looks in charge has come by the table on each visit and never interacted with him cause they're is no need to. The best word I can come up with for this place is... Odd. The place is cavernous and it's not a real comfortable atmosphere at all. Kind of like eating in a high school gymnasium in the middle of the basketball court surrounded by 22 TVs. Service was ok, although no one ever asked us how the food was, so I guess they don't care. We ordered the nachos as an app, came out completely cold. I mean barely room temp, if that. Beer cheese sauce, bratwurst, all cold. When I ordered one of their own beers off the menu, the server just stared at me like like "WTF are you talking about?" So I had to point to the beer on their menu and then she looked at where I was pointing and just walked away. I got the beer I ordered, so yeah, I guess you have it. You probably shouldn't stare at someone who orders one of your own beers like you have no idea what they're talking about. The food is sub-par, even for pub food. Many better options in Durham, like Applebee's, haha (jk, Applebee's is not good, but it is on par with this place). Do not get the burger. I've read a lot of bad reviews anout the burgers here and mine was no different... like rubber. Way overdone, not juicy at all. On the bright side, the 4 beers I tried (2 of mine and 2 that my wife ordered) were pretty good, but not great. For $75 for 2 people to have lunch, not doing that again. We left thinking we will not be back. read more

So, decided to try this place for lunch today in Durham. I was not pleased. I ordered pretzels and pimento cheese as an appetizer($8) Pretzels were good but the pimento cheese was horrible. Way too much garlic. Way tooo much! Next was my clouds club(turkey club sandwich). Really bad! If im going to pay you $12 for Turkey sandwich please use real turkey and not some over processed packaged deli meat that I can buy at the local grocery store. When the slice of tomato and onion is thicker than the 3 paper thin slices of meat you put on the sandwich...its a problem. I consider a Club sandwich is multi layered. Not single layered. $21 meal and the only thing edible was the fries I had to soak in ketchup to mask the garlic salt used. Waiter was very gracious to get the manager. I critiqued the pimento cheese but not the sandwich....it was not worth it. The pimento cheese and pretzels were taken off my tab. Nonetheless, I will not be back. I've had some awesome pimento cheese at other restaurants as well as a turkey club. read more
