Flight of beer from up top

Hey guys, you have to come check out this Tobacco Wood Brewing spot at 2500 Meridian Parkway here in Durham. This place has been literally right around the corner from me and I have passed by it on numerous occasions, always thinking about going by there and I finally took the plunge today and stepped into the place. Before I walked in, I noticed that there was plenty of umbrella covered seating on both sides of the entryway. So those of you have a propensity to indulge in outdoor seating, this place would be a plus for you. Very nice, laid-back atmosphere inside, although decor is a bit spartan. Don't let that be a point of concern though - this spot is large and kind to the eyes. L-shaped layout with a huge bar front. I like that they have seating there as well. There is more than abundant seating and a few soft couches provided for even more comfortable seating. TVs galore, to watch all sporting events - even a large TV for trivia, if you so desire to go that route. The bathrooms are nice and clean. The place is adequately spacious, with room for wheelchair maneuverability. The clientele: awesomely inviting! Hannah, who was working at the time, was very courteous, patient, and helpful since it was my first time there. They do offer flights of beer and they have a very nice selection on the wall from lagers to Pilsner and even some sours. I tried a little bit of all on my flight and I discovered that I am a lager lover, but not so much fond of the sours genre. I ordered the burnt tips as well as the soft West eggrolls to go, that's probably why I don't have pictures of them because it's not as visually pleasing in a to-go package. But the food was quite excellent. Those tips were so tender and flavorful. Oh my gosh. so if you need a nice place to go to to have a beer and a nice meal, check this place out guys. I do not feel that you would be disappointed in any way.

It was a rainy evening where we had an impromptu girls night and this was our second stop. Unassuming location...not sure what you'd call it, strip mall, business complex? Whatever it was, the interior definitely fit the brewery vibe. With lots of tables, comfortable seating, games, and lots of beer choices. The employees were super helpful and gave us lots of samples. We were all able to find different beers that suited us...and trust me that we all like different kinds of beers! It was very relaxing to find a couple of sofas and sip beer and just talk. No interruptions, just chill...and have a few beers :) I really liked this taproom and would definitely love to try their Oxford brewery location.

We are visiting and wanted a place to grab a drink and food. They have a great selection of handheld sandwiches, build your own pizza, wings, and some appetizers. The smash burger was excellent! The wings we tried had the Bills dry rub. The wings were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The flavor was Smokey and a little sweet. Great flavor! The pizza was pretty good as well. Not super saucy, but nice amount of cheese. The vibe was nice. They have a cute little spot to take pictures. There are several bigger tables making it conducive for bigger parties. There was outdoor seating as well. The beverages were very good. We only tried to e watermelon sour and the THC seltzer. They also had some non alcoholic beverages and Pepsi products. Drew was also great! He was very knowledgeable about the beverage selection, and he explained the flavor profiles very well. Tasters were given as well to determine what we wanted. Overall, it was a nice afternoon!

Came here twice, once at lunch and once in the evening. Lunchtime was chill, only a few people inside. It was nice to have a chill spot to eat and converse. The evening though was super busy and had a live band. Great spot for enjoying a Friday evening with friends. They have a wide variety of beer, both in house brews and others on tap. Prices are reasonable and the servers are friendly and accommodating. The food is decent too, no complaints. Overall great local spot.

Enjoyed watching March madness here. Not overly crowded and good food menu to pair with drinks. I tried the smash burger and it was great!

I've been here several times and have never had a bad meal! I feel their prices are pretty good as well. There's a decent outdoor eating area although it just overlooks the parking lot. They have a really good beer selection as well with both beers they make and other breweries. It's also convenient, right off I-40.

Used to be our place of choice for lunch/beers unfortunately they changed their menu. Food was mediocre..the replaced the sidewinder fries with truffle fries. Not very good. Decent selection of beers

Updating my review, two years later to remind everyone that TWBC has THE BEST BURGERS in the Triangle. Beer, burgers, events, friendly folks... great spot!

This brewery is located in a shopping plaza so there is plenty of parking out front. Multiple tables are inside of the business. The business offers items such as fries, burgers, flatbread and selections from the bar. Once you enter you place your order at the counter and your food is brought out to you. The cashier was nice and helpful. I got an order of dry rub wings and a pretzel. The wings were seasoned well, served hot, tasted really good, and were served with carrots, celery and dressing. The pretzel was ok. I didn't like the cheese sauce that was served with the pretzel. It was underwhelming. The mustard was ok. I would come back and get more wings and try other items on the menu.

This new microbrewery is located near my memory lane. I'm not far from where I grew up. This place has a sports bar atmosphere. An array of overhead screens help you keep up with the action. The menu is shown on TVs behind the bar. There are plenty of taps to choose from. Since this was my first time, I ordered a flight. My dad stuck with a pint of one beer. His favorite is the Rocket Surgery. I can say that one is a hit for me too. I hope to come back again soon.

Only the Imperial Stout is a standout. The rest are ok. The NE IPA is the best of the rest

Great space inside. Great outdoor area, albeit in a parking lot facing NC55. The BBQ tacos are excellent even though they were out of slaw. Corn shells, BBQ is tender and tasty (although the sauce does appear to be bottled), and the pico is a nice touch Service was friendly and helpful. Dogs outside only, but that was where I wanted to be today anyway. You know me and reviewing beers...but here's my take on the flight: First, the beers were a little lackluster on a fresh palate, but developed a lot of character with food. The Imperial Stout (The Moose) is extremely good. I taste chocolate and cherry on a coffee background. That 11.3% ABV will sneak up on you. I could see this as dessert with someone me ice cream or cake The West Coast IPA (The Hips Got Me) came to life with the BBQ tacos. The level of bitterness worked for me. Smooth and drinkable The NE IPA (False Motivation) was reported to be their best seller. It's good, with a distinctive pineapple background. Odd because there's another beer on the board that is advertised as being made with pineapple puree. Regardless, this is a very drinkable beer. A decent Hazy. A little sweeter and less bitter than I like, but definitely worth a pint Finally, the Pale Ale (Liquid Luck) is a slightly bitter Pale Ale, kind of as it should be. I'd hoped to taste some ginger, but it was lost on me. Could be taste buds. It went well with the tacos too

Second time visiting and the guy who took our order was grumpy. Whatsamatter? Late night?? Anyway, we had a simple order yet even tho we ordered soda he gave us two glasses of water. Yep, not awake even tho it was after 1pm. Our order came up quick enough and I was ready for it as I hadn't eaten anything all day. I took the top off the burger bun and it was nearly black, so over toasted. I figured no point in telling them since no way they couldn't have seen it since they served it that way and must think that's ok. The burger was so overcooked it was dry and tasteless. Thankfully at least the potato salad was good. Honestly the only thing they really had going for them today was there was unbeknownst to me gathering for a Pride event. They need to do it quarterly and maybe I'd think about returning. Seriously tho, don't serve your guests burnt burger buns and dried out burgers. It's a waste of money and an insult to the customer.

I was hoping I would not be disappointed. Downtown Durham on Parrish Street I do believe. I went there midday and there was a sparse lunch crowd already seated when I arrived. The warmly lit space presents nice aesthetic as you walk into the restaurant. A very chill and comfortable atmosphere. I love the bar and the mirrored wall nestled behind it. The spot is pretty laidback and very clean, but has a bit of a rustic nuance to it as well. I like that. The serving staff were extremely nice and helpful towards advising me in making my selection -- with me being a first-timer and all. I kept it simple...I chose the Classic Burger (pink) with pepper jack cheese, bacon marmalade, and as a side, I had to go with the Dirty Fries -- 'cause that's how I roll y'all. About the food: I have to say, the burger was staunchly built and crafted with artistry. Nice and tall with a seriously tasty bun encapsulating everything. Perfectly well-seasoned meat and the first bite was simply delightful. I noticed as I got towards the center of the meat, it was bit less juicy than the surrounding parts of the burger, but nevertheless still tasty. My Dirty Fries were delicious In the end; the experience as a whole was quite delightful and I would definitely like to go there again -- perhaps try a different burger to expand upon my experience with this place. Gotta try out That Bar y'all! I do recommend it for those who haven't had a chance to go by there to check it out.

Even before me an my party entered we could hear music playing from the building, which kept the vibes up! Moving onto the food, a certain menu item caught my eye. Something that I'm legally obligated to keep quiet about... but let tell you- this burger was Gooood. This "Signature Secret Burger" was rather unique, as it was like you took a pretty simple egg burger, and just ramped it up. My initial thought when I first tried it was that it was a burger squared, the mystery ingredients amplified the flavor to make such a savory meal. It wasn't to overbearing like many other burger places that I've visited, not immediately making me feel fat and full after taking a few bites. Our party also ordered a whole quart of fries, and they were SO GOOD!!! I'm a sucker for good fries, and you knocked this out of the park! Your fry soft was nice and mellow and complimented the fries perfectly. (And even afterwards, the fries warmed up really well and were still Really freakin' good!) Finally, during my visit, their anniversary event (Happy 15th By The Way ) and they were offering FREE DESSERT for someone who happened to sit in a randomly chosen seat. And by the luck of the gods my little brother found his way onto the seat! It was just really awesome to see a restaurant doing such awesome things for their birthday, y'don't see that every day! Overall, this place is definitely a place to stop by if you're in Durham. If you're in the area visit IMMEDIATELY if you love good fun food!
