Forgot to post this a couple weeks ago, so things may have changed since then! The pretzel is amazing! Perfectly cooked and served with great dips! My wife got a burger and that was pretty good. Traditional and cooked as desired. The culprit for the 2 star rating is the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Perhaps I am being a little harsh since everything was good, but holy smokes was it a small chicken breast (more like a chicken tender) with just a dap of their "homemade hot sauce." This was recommended by the waitress and I was left speechless when she brought it out. Never would recommend that sandwich and the worst part of the decision on getting it was because I was torn between an other entrée. Fries are an up charge, so I hope you like chips! Beer is fine, nothing special. The outdoor seating is nice as well. Cool little spot in Durham. Haven't been back since this first encounter. While classic breweries are not usually my go-to, I was pleasantly surprised with Clouds. I absolutely love the layout of the interior with brick walls, a self serve tap station, and complete open seating. There are tvs everywhere for the sports fans, and the staff is very quick and friendly. The food is American and German, with all forms of bratwurst and bevarian dishes. There are plenty of bar food staples, and the fried pickles were the bomb. They were some of the best my man and I have ever had!! They were served with garlic aioli sauce, which was delicious. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and fries. I received a large roll with the smallest and thinnest piece of chicken I've ever been served. It was about the size of 2 pickle chips. The "spicy" part was a small smear of sauce in the middle of the chicken. To make matters worse, the fries were cold. We came to the UNC Duke basketball games here and this place is just so full of energy (pre-covid). We also came last week and it was during trivia night which seemed super fun! The wedge salad is among the best I've had (the blueberries are a nice addition), and the burger is good, too. I ordered my burger medium rare but it came out as medium well, almost well done. It was too dry and I didn't like it much. Our sever never really came around to give us more water. He was more so busy flirting with the girls next to our table. My friend and I each ordered a bar bite since we both have Shop Durham Card. We showed it to our server but he ended up charging us full price for both. When we noticed that the check was wrong, our server was nowhere to be found. So I asked the hostess and she said only 1 bar bite per table is allowed. Well, it would've been nice for the server to let know when we ordered it. Maybe they should better train the staff or update their listing on Shop Durham Card website. The atmosphere was great! We tried a couple of different beers which we enjoyed while watching a basketball game. We snacked on the cauliflower bites and fries which were both tasty and then we ordered mains. I had the Vegan Burger and was unimpressed, the main flavor was salt. The texture of the burger is more geared to someone who likes a meaty texture burger, but it still needs more flavor (some garlic or something similar would help). Tried this gem for the first time recently and absolutely loved the food. Highly recommend the blackened chicken pasta. It was incredibly creamy and loved the vegetables included. The fried pickles were also so delicious and crispy. Wasn't a big fan of either of the dips for the fried pickles but did enjoy the pickles a lot. Ok I really wanted to love this place because we had taken out during the peak of Covid and enjoyed it and then returned recently for outdoor dining. Service was sub-par. The server specifically asked if we wanted a water bowl for our puppy and after 45 minutes of waiting and asking several times one finally arrived. The food was ok, nothing special. I'm from NY/NJ visiting some friends in NC and it was the first time at Clouds Brewing for all of us. So glad we found this place! First of all it's perfect for football Sunday! There's special dishes available on Sunday's only, like the Buffalo chicken dip, which was delicious. Originally we were sitting outside - there's picnic table style seating available and tons of people there with their dogs! We did end up moving inside to watch the football games though. There's tons of TVs and every game was available to watch on at least one screen so no matter what team you're a fan of there was a way to watch the game. I'm a big fan of ciders, over beers, and there was a cool feature on the self pour cider wall. I was given a scannable bracelet after my ID was scanned that I could walk up to the wall with, scan for the cider I wanted, and self pour myself whichever flavor I wanted. I tried the blueberry lemonade as I was told it was the most popular and it was delicious I ended up having two glasses of it instead of trying a different flavor. At the end you get charged for the amount you poured in ounces vs. by the glass. Pricing was so moderate and for someone coming from the northeast I was surprised at how cheap it was for 2 glasses of the cider ($7). I'll be going back the next time I visit! read more

Super funny story and I don't think I'll ever forget this!! My group came in and one of my friends wanted a Root Beer Float, the waiter goes,"sorry we don't serve Coke products, only Pepsi products". We all looked at each other like "whatttt??" Lol that was hilarious. The menu literally says "root beer float" and the only option the server said they had was a Cheerwine float bahaha!! It wasn't enjoyable to us as we all tried it due to how hard we were laughing Anyways... the beer was good. Sad part was that we didn't even try any beer brewed by them LOL Bottom line: DONT GET THEIR ROOTBEER FLOAT! Unless it's rootbeer or if you want the misadvertisement hahaha! We happened upon Clouds Brewing by chance and were really pleased with the food and drinks. Everything was freshly prepared, and they have great selection of options for a party of 8 that included both adults and kids. Get the giant pretzel - it comes to the table hanging on a hook and is a fun and tasty appetizer to share. The root beer (non alcoholic) was delicious and a huge hit at our table as well. I like that they have smaller pours of their drinks. I like to try unique flavors on draft but don't always want to get a pint in case I don't like it. All in all, a fun, tasty dinner! read more

Great spacious outdoor seating area in Brightleaf square, good for dog people (including water bowls they filled up as soon as we got there) and really good service. My waitress Rebecca was the best server I've had since moving to Durham 8 months ago - friendly and super attentive without being annoying - a tough balance to achieve. The beer selection here was good and the classic hamburger was pretty decent - generous sized and ingredients felt fresh, although flavor was basic mostly the ketchup mustard and pickle/onion. It was a bit like a huge, slightly more upscale version of a Big Mac. I suppose it is "classic" as advertised. Will return for sure. read more

I honestly hate giving negative reviews, so let's say a few things upfront 1) I didn't get anything to drink so I can't comment on the beer 2) I showed up at 8:15 pm and 3) the service (staff friendliness etc.) was amazing. The hoagie roll was perfect and the beer cheese drizzled on top was a nice touch. The giant pretzel was definitely the highlight of the dinner. Get it!!! The beer cheese and spicy mustard dipping sauces are well worth it. Lastly, the fried chicken sandwich was my least favorite. The description on the menu said it was "tossed" in Buffalo sauce when there was barely any on there, and it did not come on a pretzel bun as stated.
