We've visited for the llama/alpaca walks 3 times and it's always the best money I've spent all month! This family really cares about their animals and sharing information with visitors. The farm has grown over the years, but each time we've gotten to pet some goats and learn about the different kinds of animals on the farm. Then we go on the walk with our alpacas/llamas, and it's a good length of walking including a photo op. The animals are nice and it seems like the alpacas enjoy posing for photos. The farm also has very friendly cats. The new building seems nice as well. read more

ORIGIN: Andrea Parent-Tibbetts and Mike Tibbetts initially started immersing themselves in agricultural life with the care of two goats, Clover and Daisy. Over time their venture, Clover Brooke Farm, named after their goat and daughter, Brooke, expanded, and included an education component. In 2016 the family had opportunity to physically expand with the purchase of a five acre former dairy farm. LOCATION: The farm is located on a bucolic, rural road in Hyde Park, New York. CONCEPT: Now retired, Andrea and Mike had worked in education for many years. This is reflected in the farm, which serves as a platform for a variety of educational experiences, including a summer day camp for children, yoga sessions with resident llamas, and soap making classes. EXPERIENCE: I first encountered Clover Brooke Farm through a Yelp Hudson Elite event last summer. (Thank you Marietta!) During this event we enjoyed a yoga class in the then newly constructed outdoor pavilion. All materials were provided to us and it was a perfect summer evening, with a cool breeze and friendly and curious llamas surrounding us. As they walked between our mats, waves of smiles and laughter were generated, uniquely adding to the relaxing stretches that were led by a local professional yoga instructor (Virginia Bocchicchio). Before we left Andrea showed us how to wrap and felt sheared llama fur around farm-made lavender-scented soap. This product -- perfect for use after gardening -- was a nice memento of the relaxing evening. This summer I returned for a two hour morning workshop on cold process soap making ($60). With the help of her daughter's friend and many internet searches, Andrea shared a simple and efficient procedure that uses common grocery ingredients. All materials were prepared for us and we each left with not only a long stack of olive/coconut oil-based soap scented to our liking (around ten to twelve soap bars), but all the physical material needed to replicate at home. TIPS: Clover Brooke Farm is by appointment only -- and only for the ticketed event. Do not expect to wander around the farm in advance of the scheduled event. There is another farm in lower New York State with a similar name. Be careful when you plan to visit. The couple has yet another expansion in the works that includes an indoor/all weather activity space and a modern bathroom (currently a compost outhouse toilet is available). I have been to 3 alpaca/llama farms in the recent past; this is by far the best. In addition to the general farm tour where you see goats, chickens, horses, dogs, cats, sheep and cows, you can take your llama/alpaca on a gentle hike. The alpacas/llamas on this farm are trained to behave well with strangers; they are not skittish. With that said, they are sure to show you their different personalities. I love love LOVE this spot! We went to do llama and alpaca hiking and it was absolutely amazing. A truly memorable event well worth the price and drive. My entire group enjoyed it immensely! Our guide was very nice and did a great job sharing information about the animals and the farm. We started the tour off in the pasture, where we got to interact with sheep, goats, and donkeys. Then, we moved over to the llamas, who were absolute darlings! They're super friendly and soft. We moved over to the barn, where we got to pick our llamas/alpacas. I was lucky enough to get Ringo, who was an absolute star (pun intended!) and the most chill alpaca ever. He had such a personality and was an absolute darling to walk with. The path wasn't too bad and had a few small hills to climb. I recommend comfy shoes and clothes and sunscreen. The farm was kind enough to provide bug spray before the walk and complimentary water and a pin after the walk. We even got to play with a sweet black cat after our hike, making this experience even better! This is such a wonderful place with amazing and beautiful animals. What a creative way to get yourself moving! This hike was a lot of fun and very educational. The owner of the farm will give you a grand tour of all the animals and their day to day activities with how they care for them. The hike was invigorating and allows you to really bond with your llama or alpaca- you become apart of the pack LOL. Pros: amazing experience Cons: the owner is super strict, if you are late tst tst on you.. MUST be on time. Also, DO NOT come there early expecting to be able to use the bathroom..try to go somewhere else. I made that mistake. They essentially have back house that they will need to guide you to but they have constant tours going on and won't be able to walk you to the toilet until your group starts your own tour. When visiting a farm I typically think "perfect family friendly activity," well for the first time ever, after years of visiting numerous farms most of which DO NOT CHARGE for animal contact, I finally found one that did not give off a family friendly feel in Clover Brooke Farms. This farm has ridiculously strict policies for an establishment that has such terrible availability for opening hours however; I decided to overlook this given the highly rated reviews on google which quite frankly are somewhat misleading. The policy required a 3 day advance cancellation on all tickets and charges a 3.5% fee for cancellations. There are no reschedule options according to their policy and there's zero flexibility with tardiness which seems pretty fair until you realize that according to the hours currently posted on Google, the farm is closed on Mondays,Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays and only open for 3 and a half hours on Fridays and Saturdays and 4 and a half hours on Sunday leaving very little room for errors! I purchased tickets for 6 people including an infant because I sadly missed the fact that children under 1 do not get charged at this farm. Within minutes of purchasing the tickets I caught two errors on my part. The 1st error was that I chose the wrong date for the tickets and the 2nd error was that I paid for my infant. As soon as I caught my mistakes within minutes of purchasing, I reached out to the farm and let them know I accidentally chose the wrong date and paid for my baby. The person I emailed reached back out and did change my tickets to the correct date regardless of their no rescheduling policy, however did not respond to or even acknowledge the additional inquiry requesting a refund for wrongful purchase for an infant. I was unsure why no response about the refund was acknowledged so I decided to wait to speak with someone over the phone during opening hours. When I called the farm the woman I spoke with stated she was in fact the same person who changed my ticket dates and that she did read that part of the email requesting a refund, but would not provide a refund because as per the policy she felt she didn't even have to reschedule my tickets and did this as a courtesy and she was entitled to charge me an administration fee for having changed my tickets dates even though that fee was not apart of the policy I read online. I was stunned and disgusted. Not only did she essentially admit to just downright ignoring a portion of my email but she also took the liberty of adding a made up fee that isn't posted on their website. An administration FEE for a farm ladies and gentlemen. Who has ever heard of such a thing??? If that doesn't just leave a bad taste in your mouth and shout money hungry then I don't know what does. I understand as a whole, farms generally benefit greatly from contributions and business however this was an incredibly distasteful way of obtaining customer money. My family and friends drove 1 hour and 45 minutes to this farm. The farm itself currently has construction going on within a home where guests need access in order to use the restrooms. As far as the farm experience with the animals and tour purchased it's self, the animals looked well cared for and the tour guide was friendly enough and knowledgeable about the animals but I wouldn't consider this trip worth the time. This farm gives basic. It's small for a farm, and there are nicer ones that are actually worth the trip and time. I highly recommend Linvilla Orchards in PA which offers free animal petting access and feeding along with a plethora of other fun activities for families and children. So many options for farms that bad experiences shouldn't exist. I'm a first time parent, currently going through postpartum and the effects of postpartum brain and frankly families with small infants and children should be provided grace, compassion, and flexibility. read more

My wife and I drove an hour to do a goat walk as all the other tours were sold out. When we purchased the tickets, it was never stated not to show up ahead of time and that you couldn't see other animals at the farm. So we arrived an hour early to experience the farm and see animals. Upon arrival, we went into the gift shop and asked if we could look around the farm. We were promptly told "no" that we had to wait out front of the gift shop. In fact, we had to sit on a bench and wait. My wife and I waited outside and saw the llama walk about to take place. So we ventured over to see the llamas. We didn't interfere or get in the way. We just watched the people take their llamas to the starting spot. The Owner Andrea was the tour guide for the llamas and she asked if we could be helped. I mentioned we purchased tickets to another tour and we're just observing. She sternly told us that we had to move and stand in a different area. When I asked if we could pay the difference and join the tour as there were clearly llamas still in the pen, the response was "absolutely not" and that there were no other llamas available. Again the level of attitude that she possessed was beyond unfriendly. We should have known better as we watched Andrea become condescending with a patron who had a ticket but Andrea swore that she refunded her, even though the person had a print out. And, ironically, Andrea went into the barn and found her a llama. Another couple next to us that were waiting for the goats were beyond disgusted with the way that she spoke to her guests. They should make it clear not to show up early, not to stand where you aren't in the way to look at the animals that they promote and should work on their guest service. We actually had a group that we were going to put together for a private tour of the farm, but after this - we will take our business elsewhere. It was not worth the money or the drive. As we began to chat with our goat group, we found more people that were equally as turned off by the lack of care and customer service. It was agreed they should make it more clear not to show up early. We actually got a different tour guide who turned out to be the owners daughter. She allowed us to stop and pet the donkeys. Wouldn't you know that Andrea started to yell at us for touching the animals. It was like she had it out for my wife and I. Our tour guide told her to back off. Our tour guide overheard a lot of us talking about how mean Andrea was to everyone and our guide took us to see llamas and alpacas. She allowed us to have our own personal experience with different animals. Despite this really genuine and amazing gesture - the owner, Andrea really ruined the start to this experience for a few of us in the group. But kudos to the owners daughter who picked up the pieces. read more

What a good time at Clover Brooke Farm with the llamas, alpacas, sheep, and various other farm animals. My boyfriend and I and a few other couples were given a tour of the land where we met very friendly sheep and the goat with a bit of an identity crisis who wanted to be a sheep (or was it the other way around?). Next up were the llamas and alpacas and short hike. It was an easy hike that lasts about an hour, but be sure to wear boots or sneakers you don't mind getting dirty. Andrea led us through the hike, took photos for us, and gave us recommendations for places to eat/drink at after. She's great and we could tell that she loves what she does and takes pride in it. I had so much fun here! In the midst of this crazy pandemic I found the cute little farm tucked away in New Jersey while looking for safe family friendly adventures. For only $30 the Farm Sampling experience allowed you to partake in all the activities offered on the farm, making felt soap, playing with small farm animals, and short walk with the alpacas! There was around 45 people who also signed up for this event but since it was all open field it didn't feel suffocating. For this event the large group was split into 3 smaller groups of 15. Being mindful of COVID, everyone had plenty of space to social distance. hand sanitizer was provided and most importantly, masks were required for everyone. I absolutely had a blast getting to know the alpacas and the smaller animals. My favorite were the bunnies! They were so soft and so friendly. One thing I learned was that ducks are so surprisingly smooth! The alpacas were so calm and easy to handle, many small children were able to walk next to them with no problems. Next time I want to sign up for the 1 mile alpaca/llama hike, it would be so much fun to enjoy a long walk while leading my own alpaca! read more

We LOVE Clover Brooke Farm and if it was closer to NYC we'd definitely be here every weekend! Last year I read a news article about how llamas and alpacas made good therapy animals because they're so gentle, patient and adorable-looking. I immediately found an alpaca farm in NJ and dragged my husband there on three different occasions last fall and this spring to pet and feed the alpaca and walk them around the barn. They are furry stress-relievers! I was immediately healed. How can you get grumpy or anxious around such cuteness? This month I discovered Clover Brooke Farm in Hyde Park I told my husband that it felt like we've graduated beyond the petting concept! Clover Brooke Farm offers so much more! Firstly the owner Andrea is your point of contact for booking your visit, welcoming you and hosting the hike. She's also an amazing photographer (she's a pro at switching up angles and snapping portrait mode!) and expertly shot photos of us with Percy the llama and Remy the alpaca! hello family, wait till ya see this year's Christmas cards! You really get your bang for your buck here! When we arrived our jaws dropped at the acres upon acres of scenic pastoral fields. Clover Brooke Farm has sheep, horses, goats, cats, llama and alpaca! We spent the first 45 minutes in the side field playing and cuddling with the lovely baby goats who tried to munch on my hair, climb onto my back and in my lap. A llama or two strolled by and plopped down for photos. The field is their grassy meal plate and also their fertilizer ground - wear your oldest dirtiest pair of sneakers! Afterwards we were treated to a presentation about the different llama and alpaca on the farm and then assigned our animal partners to hike with. My husband had Percy the illama leader and I walked with Remy the fluffy alpaca. The hike is a 1-mile trek through another field, past the hops field, up a little hill where Andrea stopped to let us take photos and where she happily helped each family shoot family portraits as souvenirs of our visit. Then we strolled through a little forest past a stream and then back to the barn. It's not a hard hike, but it's not recommended for very small children or elderly (again it's 1 mile). Back at the barn I tried to snap a photo of Biscotti, a cream colored polka dot spotted llama whose fringe looked like a tutu skirt, but as I aimed my iphone camera, Biscotti kept coming closer and closer to me till I could feel his breath on my fingers. Later I found out Biscotti is nicknamed the Kissing Llama, so no wonder. Clover Brooke Farm is truly a Hyde Park treasure. It was totally worth the 1 hour 45 minutes drive from NYC to visit Clover Brooke and we're already checking the calendar to plan our return! Reminder: Farms are not known for their Toto toilets. The bathroom is an outhouse. We decided to drive to a nearby restaurant called Farmers and Chefs for lunch and to relieve ourself there instead. read more

We went on a tour and llama walk about, booked through Airbnb experiences. This was so awesome. We got to learn all about animal rescue and farming in Hudson Valley, a little bit about 4H, but most of all we learned about the animals themselves. There was no question unanswered! The hosts were super friendly, and make you feel comfortable around unfamiliar animals. We were able to pet and hold different farm animals, including baby sheep, goats, and llamas, and we met alpacas and more! It was a rainy day so we didn't get to meet the chickens, cats, or older sheep, but it was totally worth it because we got more time with baby animals and friendly llamas. If it rains when you go wear boots and bring an umbrella! It gets a little muddy. I wore sneakers and was fine, but I am ambivalent about rain. The property itself is beautiful, and the alpaca/llama walking part of the tour takes up 2/3 of the visit, depending on the weather and animals, I suppose. They welcome children - so I think it would be a great family activity. The place was easy to get to and find with GPS and it's in a really great central location. There are lots of other. Things to do nearby after your tour. They offer water and Gatorade if you need refreshing, too. For 35 per person this was a bargain. I would have gladly paid more for so much up close and personal animal time, especially since the funds help run a worthwhile local business. We had a fantastic time on the Alpaca and Llama hike! This is truly a unique experience. The animals were so much fun to hike with! Lots of great memories and lots of great photos. The owner was great and easy to communicate with and helped me set up a private hike on a day that worked best for me and my family. She had a great gift shop with animals in the shape of Llamas and Alpacas and made with real fur/hair (sorry not sure of the correct term!) and lots of other items :) She made sure we were prepared and informed us that bug spray was definitely needed, had cold bottled water for us and took pictures for us along the way too! One of the Llamas did not like bugs on him so he would lean over and rub against you to get them off. It was very cute! I honestly can not say enough good things about Clover Brook Farm and the Tibbetts family. My sister and I love alpacas and when we found Clover Brooke Farm we knew we had to go!! We got the Clover Brooke Farm sampling experience so we got to meet the small farm animals, created felt soap, and walked with the alpacas/llamas. My favorite part was of course walking with the alpacas/llamas. They were so well trained and great walking/selfie buddies. It was sad to say goodbye to them but overall it was such a fun experience. Today my boyfriend and I attended a alpaca and llama hike here at the farm. I am grateful for the experience we had during this crazy pandemic although was slightly disappointed today. I do want to address both the pros and cons to my experience. To start with the cons : we were not greeted upon arrival which I felt a little weird that we were not checked in or said hello too. We walked up to the farm stand and sorta awkwardly waited. The girl who never told us her name or could not figure out who was going to do the tour. Finally she said we had to wait a bit for the others to show. (So we figured out who was doing the tour at this point) Anyways, it felt very rushed. Online it says it is an hour and a half. We were only there for 45 mins including the entire experience. The intern rushed through telling us the names of the animals and information without being clear. (I think for some people who do not know a lot about the animals I was more interested in learning about them but that did not happen). We asked a few questions and the intern did not know a few that I felt were basic questions. I do not want to bash the girl who hosted the tour but she did not really seem enthusiastic or passionate about talking about them. (Perhaps she isn't getting paid ? And didn't feel to put the effort into talking about it.? Not quite sure. My last con is that way expensive for 2 people. $86 for 45 mins alittle disappointing. - I think it should have been taken alittle more seriously for that price, or professionally ? Pros: I definitely enjoyed walking with the Llamas / alpacas. It was something to do in the Hudson Valley that is very different and something to do in the pandemic. I only am 45 mins away. Would I travel more then 45 mins , no. But if you are a local then I would go. I have heard great things about the owner Andrea, perhaps having her as the tour guide would have changed the experience? Maybe, and I would hope so. Seeing the Animals made me smile and the hike was good exercise too! I give it a 3 star fairly not to bash their farm or anything like that , just an honest review. read more

Made a trip out to the farm with my friend to escape the city and relax a bit. Best decision made for our trip! We went on a walk with our own llama or alpaca and got to spend time with the goats & sheeps on the farm! The owners are VERY kind and you could tell they do this because of their genuine love for the animals! I would highly recommend for you to come and check it out as well. read more

Clover Brooke Farm is a family owned and run farm. When we went to the farm (July 2019), they had a duck, cat, chickens, cows, pigs, goats, llamas, and alpacas. We were staying at an Airbnb in Cold Spring and saw an ad for the alpaca experience on Airbnb. The hour drive was more than worth it. Our visit to Clover Brooke Farm was one of the highlights of our trip. The wife and husband (Andrea and Mike) who own and run the farm guided us on our hike around their property. The hike itself was about an hour. Throughout the hike, my many annoying questions were patiently answered. It's apparent that Andrea and Mike love giving tours and talking about their animals. Not only did we do the hike with the alpacas and llamas, but we also held a chicken, met two baby goats, and were given a tour of the barn, which housed a baby llama. This was an incredibly special experience that is highly recommended for anyone 10 years old or older. We got some great pictures and have a good story to tell. Be sure to wear bug spray (they have some on site)! There are many flies and other types of insects on the trail and farm. Note that there are currently (as of July 2019) NO public restrooms on the property. Mike told us that they are planning on constructing an outhouse but if you need to use the restroom while on their property, you'll be sent into the woods. read more
