So much fun at the Wassail Balkan Dance Party! Even though it rained and there was plenty of mud everywhere, there was a lot of dancing and a lot of eating. I wish they had compost and recycling available, nevertheless what a fun day and night. Their apple ciders are delicious and worth stopping by to get some to take home. It was truly a lovely experience which I hope to do again. read more

What a great place to explore. The little shop has a whole wall of hard cider. Unfortunately, the few we bought were not to our palette, but I'm sure I could come back and find another type we'd like. There's also a full display of baked goods and of course lots and lots of apples. There's a little area you can sit to enjoy some coffee, too. Right by the parking lot are many places to sit and eat. A little hut, which was closed when we stopped by, also serves pizza during dinner time, and they have occasional music events. Be sure to walk or drive around the bend, as well, where there's a tasting room, cute little garden, area with llamas and fowl, and at the time, a large pumpkin patch with lots of different pumpkins. (We couldn't tell if the pumpkins were a display or for sale.) read more

This place is kind of a joke. We paid $25 a ticket for the meadowlark festival (the Friday program) it was advertised much differently than what we experienced. The ciders are pretty bad, there was one food truck ( not the numerous options that were advertised) The "artists" were minimally talented pretentious hipsters from Brooklyn, that all sounded the same. It was really disappointing. We left after the first round of songs, as the dialogue was nonsensical, and contrived. We were really expecting something quite different. The performers really seemed to enjoy hearing themselves talk. I feel we were really ripped off. read more

We went over this weekend with some friends from NYC. We hadn't been there since our kids were very young. The big message here is that it's not just for kids anymore! A short drive around the back of the property, near the orchards reveal a major expansion. We're talking live music, tasting room, food truck, wonderfully boozy cider concoctions! That along with apple and pumpkin picking and some delightful alpacas. Looks like they have a big winter fest planned too. Great place to check out for leaf peeping! The only thing that would help is better organization of their signs. It's a bit confusing, but don't let that stop you! read more

Beautiful farm with tons of different apple trees and even Asian pear trees! There are no hayrides, face painting, corn mazes or any of that stuff here. This is simply good old fashioned apple picking with a small farm store and hard cider tasting at the entrance. Prices for bags seem high at first at $9, $17 and $27 but if you load up your bags the apples come out to just over $1 a pound. The free hard cider tasting at the entrance was awesome! We also picked up some soft cider and donuts on the way out. A couple of things I didn't love...the high grass and unmarked trees. Overall the property is not kept up well. There are tons of weeds and broken tree branches everywhere. The grass between rows of trees was really high in some spots. The bases of all the trees were covered in tall weeds. Until we got to the back of the property many of the trees didn't have signs so we had no idea what we were picking. It was kind of unclear if this farm was about to be sold or is being sold to developers. From the overall condition it seemed like they weren't looking to keep it. I'm still giving it 4 stars because it has tons of potential if they're not selling. Simple lawn mowing would go a long way. I also loved that it wasn't like many of the farms around these days which are just way too commercialized and crowded. read more

We met up with some old friends at Catskills for the weekend and had the BEST time apple picking at The Stone Ridge Orchard! At first we got lost, went right instead of left and found no apples, only because we didn't follow directions. Sure enough the staff redirected us and we found endless apple trees. All four of us felt like little kids filling up our apple bags. Let me just say that they have some of the prettiest and by far most delicious apples ever. Loved this place! Came here last weekend to do some final apple picking & just to escape the city chaos. Definitely worth the long drive. The apples were already picked and placed in a cute organza bag on the trees to make for easy pickings. Everyone was wearing masks, and there's plenty of space. We stopped by their "bar" and got some drinks & pizza. The drinks were delish (specifically the pear vodka) and the pizza was pretty good. We got to meet the grower, and she was very pleasant. This review is for the Sunday Farmers Market. We were there yesterday and there were a few vendors: Migliorelli Farm selling berries and cherries and Hepworth Farms selling vegetables. We purchased from both. For Migliorelli: the young man there was very nice and helpful. The prices were astronomical though. I paid 12 dollars for strawberries and later that day I saw local strawberries at Davenport that were 7 dollars for the same size. That is too much of a price difference. Another concern: the fellow could not answer where the fruit came from. It made me wonder what is Milgorelli. Is it really a farm or a company that buys from other farms. I've been to their stands in Dutchess County and have always found them exorbitant in price but I did not realize they are buying from other producers. For Hepworth: I bought peas and they were good. The price seemed ok. But the person selling did not know what the peas were. She thought maybe you ate the pod, but they were clearly shelling peas because the pea pods were very tough. My expectation for a farmers market is that the vendors sell their produce or have clear info on the source, and that the vendors know what they are selling. Thank you. read more

This is a beautiful and very large orchard where you can get lost among the trees and where you can enjoy an incredible vista from the top of the hill near the old oak tree. this is very laid-back place, not very commercial and not crowded. It's a really great place to bring your kids. The cherry pies at the farm stand are amazing and the sweet cider tastes just like you are drinking apples. They also serve a slightly fizzy sweet cider with sprigs of mint, wonderfully refreshing. The hard cider is dry and crisp. We've been coming to Stone Ridge Orchard for at least 20 years. There are many changes and innovations this year. There's a new pop-up restaurant, a bar and, on weekends, a farm and flea. read more

Came here on a whim with friends due to recommendations on the internet. Bought 9$ bag and had no direction on where to go. We walked the muddy road and there was no trails to get to the apples. We had to walk on unkempt grass that was up to our knees to get anywhere. Nowhere in the grounds was mowed or kept up. My friend ended up finding ticks on her. Left upset with our empty apple bag and drove to a nicer orchard. read more

Do not bother going here if you want to pick apples. I was told there were tons of apples, but when we got there, we walked for an hour to find enough to fill half a bag. The orchard is not labelled, and the grass and weeds are so long you cannot see the ruts between the trees. Poison ivy is rampant as well. So sad, this used to be such a nice place to pick apples, now it is horrible. read more

Over the weekend, visited Stone Ridge Orchard for the first time, on a family apple-picking expedition. Wasn't really sure what to expect, but we ended up finding lots of apples and Asian pears, too. The scenery is beautiful. The orchard covers quite a bit of land, and we didn't get around to exploring all of it. The folks we met there were very nice, very helpful. Best pizza in the area. Make sure the usual Italian fellow is there. Well worth the 14-16 dollars. You will not be disappointed.

Visiting this orchard was a big disappointment and we left with terrible feelings because the service was so bad. We went to pick honey crisp and fuji apples. The signs all stated both were available to pick, the cashier confirmed both were available, and she even directed us to where to pick them. When we got to that area of the orchard, there were no honey crisp apples on the trees, and there weren't many fuji apples and they were small. We tasted one and it was bitter. We asked for a refund for the bags we had purchased because we couldn't pick any of the apples we wanted and the woman at the store said no. The cashier kindly told us to try another kind of apple they were selling at the store and we could fill our bags with them if we liked them. We didn't like that apple so she let us fill one bag with the honey crisp in the store and then we could get a refund for all the other bags we had bought (we bought a total of 7 bags). We let the kids pick the apples to fill in the bag and while they were doing that another woman working at the store told the kids they couldn't touch the apples after picking 5 apples so I had to pay $17 for 5 apples. The orchard is also overgrown and they told us not to get too close to the trees because there was poison ivy. Someone recommended Minard's, it was 30 minutes away, but worth every minute of the drive for good apples and nice people who wanted us to be there and pick their apples. read more

The trees were not marked, so you had no clue what variety of apple you were picking. The apples were very low quality. Grass was overgrown. Price for a bag of apples was expensive. I have been to a half dozen orchards in the area and this was the only one that my family found to be disappointing. read more

I used to really love this orchard, but since it has changed hands it feels more like a boot camp rather than a freeing experience in the outdoors. There are too many rules and the apples have not been nearly as good since the old owners. If you are going to go apple picking in the Hudson Valley, there are far too many better options than Stone Ridge Apples. Think Again. read more

I visited Stone Ridge orchard with my husband and dog. We wanted to Apple pick. I wanted clean eco friendly fruit!! I was very excited to know I can bring my baby with me ! She loves apples as well! We arrived around closing time which is 6 thinking they closed at 7 and Irena and Randy were welcoming and gracious. They showed us where we have to go to pick the beautiful apples. They also gave us some free samples of hot mulled cider as well! It was deli-shish ! They also had Home made pies , ginger cookies, artisan sourdough bread and much more!! The orchard was quiet and peaceful. The oak tree bar was magnificent! As was the 200 year old oak tree itself. We also met Justin who was attending the bar under the oak tree serving the home made Hard Cider they make at the Orchard. There was also their soft cider which they also make at the orchard! One Sunday every year my family has enjoyed picking apples at stone ridge orchard. Our recent experience, however, only led to disappointment. The fruit wasn't the only thing that could be considered a bad apple. The owners treated us in an unfriendly manner and made us feel very unwelcome. The apples are far too expensive for the quality and the grass was so high we could barely walk through to pick. There are many beautiful apple orchards in the Hudson valley that are worth a visit before this one. Needless to say, we will be glad to carry on our family tradition elsewhere. read more

This place is lovely - a real breath of fresh air from the uber crowded nightmare lines at other places. The apples were great, the property is beautiful and they have a hay ride for the kids. The farm store was awesome and sells the apples if you don't want to pick them - along with delicious looking pies and pastries. The 100 year old oak-tree is a must see. we had our 5 year old daughters birthday party there today and it was amazing! there is now a pop up restaurant run by Adam called Kitchen at stone ridge...and we had amazing roasted duck, tamales and hen of the woods soup along with hot cider and handcrafted cocktails! and of course the wonderful cider donuts...the kids loved it! Well worth the visit for the view from the top of the Orchard. Standing by the huge Oak tree, the Hudson Valley, NY's answer to Napa, spreads out before you. With the heady smell of ripening apples and one of the most spectacular views in the Valley, it is magical! The new owners have preserved this beautiful location against long odds. read more

I drove 1.5 hours to the orchard and spent $20 on their fruit. I brought it home and realized they all smelled alike: donut peaches, red and black plums and apples, like heavy loads of pesticide. I don't know what it means to be eco certified. But these certainly are not low-spray. I threw them all out after a little taste; my senses found them repulsive; I let the wildlife have a little treat. I feel guilty giving such pesticide-laden fruit even to wildlife. And except for the apples and dark plums, the others tasted horribly unripe. And the rather idiotic farmstand attendant seemed so oblivious of the orchard's location or their philosophy. they should really give them a rundown on what they're trying to sell: the philosophy of stewards of the land and trust your farmer crap. Even though I wouldn't trust this farmer for all their bright banners of declaration of conscientious farming. read more
