Received a notice that the credit card on file had expired. Called to cancel membership back in June or July. The girl that answered told me she couldn't help me and that a manager would call me back. Never heard. Thought they just cancelled the membership. Then on December 21st received an email stating I had till November 30th to bring account current or it would be sent to collections? How can you send an email 3 weeks after the stated time period to cure the problem? I went to Club24 to resolve issue. Got a run around. Tried talking me into signup for new membership as this would be the only way to resolve the outstanding balance. What a joke. Cannot wait for the collections company to call me. I'll send them the email dated three weeks later. Also, Better Business Bureau and Department of Consumer Protection will be notified of this predatory business. I've been training for about a year with Julian and his positive attitude keeps me going on days where mine might not be so positive. SCAM Definitely read before you join so you have full transparency. I'm not one to leave reviews, but this place sucks. I believe I'm a fair person so I do have to say the workers are honestly nice and respectful, that's basically the only good thing I have say. but the gym is a scam, planet fitness is better. Planet fineness equipment may suck but at least they don't scam you like this. I'm an avid lifter and have been part of many gyms and this one definitely is the biggest scam. I payed for their highest membership, and never used any of the things it offered, and was going to have shoulder surgery so I wanted to down grade my membership. they wouldn't allow this, unless I replayed the startup fee, and cleaning fee for the year, so I was going to cancel but they convinced me to put my membership on hold, which is 1$ a week. I did this because I couldn't work out during my recovery period of my shoulder. I wanna note that I payed for the no contract and highest version of their membership. I'm midway through my shoulder recovery now and a gym closer to me that I like more adjusted their hours, so I just decided to cancel the membership. So when I canceled they said they had to reactivate my account and charge me for the month because their is 30 day notice of cancelation. No one ever discussed this with me. The next day they charged me 31$, which doesn't make sense because I pay $10.61 bi-weakly. I called to ask why so much and they told me that the day I canceled fell on a billing day, which doesn't make sense, cause they billed me last week and the account was on hold so that would be only 1$ for that week. I realize this isn't a lot of money but it's about the principal and is a shady way of squeezing more money out of your customers. (I should note that you have to cancel in person, that is the only way they will do it, although i believe this is normal for gyms to do, at least for most of the ones I've used.) Additionally it's so irritating I can't even use the gym this last month cause I just had shoulder surgery and can't work out even tho I'm paying for it. I payed for the no contract so I wouldn't have to deal with any of this stuff. I forgot to mention the guest-pass that comes with orange pass is such a scam too. They make your guest give them an id, and give their email and phone number every time you come in and it takes forever. If someone is using the IPAD they make you sit their and wait for it to be free. Once we had to wait 20 minutes because they were signing someone else up on the iPad. Another time I forgot to tell my guest to tell them he's been there and he said it was his first time so they insist you have to do this 30 minute tour. It ate up almost all our workout. One more thing never give them your phone number. When I bring a guest I always tell them to give them a wrong phone number! I've blocked 5 different numbers, and the constantly fill your voicemail. The calls are relentless and from different numbers so you don't recognize them. NOT TO MENTION MOST OF THE EQUIPMENT SUCKS, if u wanna get big go to a different gym. there was a chance I was going to return to this gym but not now. I have been a long time member of this gym and after certain circumstances, I had to leave. I tried to take advantage of a free one week promotion, was let in the first day, but denied the second day. And instead of helping with a membership, the manager, Isaiah, embarrassed me by telling me "I'm not allowed to use the pass, and I can't work out" in front of the other gym members. I was not sure why I was let in the first day then. This made me very upset. It was very unprofessional of the manager to do this whilst he was talking to other members. read more

I had a negative experience with Club 24. I did not feel comfortable in the way they do business. They establish rules and policy that benefit them financially at the expense of members who join. I was solicited over the phone. I didn't want it. I told him I didn't want it. I said it several times but I don't know how these salesman wore me down. I asked him several times and he reassured me. That cancellation is free. Quickly upon realizing my mistake, I sent them a letter via email with my signature indicating I didn't want the membership as I know they required a signature. I sent about three more emails. I have all the dates and my correspondence I did email them several times not once did they respond to me or send me an email to let me know that their policy is you have to come in in person and sign out. It would've took them 15 seconds to send an email to me to let me know or as they state I should've known they could've reminded me as it was clear I was telling them I didn't want the membership. I know they have no problem calling Customer's when it is in their benefit when they're going to get money out of that transaction. They called me to get me to join and they called me after when I let them know I didn't want it. I didn't want the membership the salesman or the manager himself should of called or emailed me reminding me of their policy that I had to go in in person. I thought I was safe because I didn't even start the membership. I let them know right away but I was told it's just my tough luck cause I didn't follow their policy. I know they saw my emails because the salesman as a called me and tried to convince me to keep the membership. I did not want it and I made it clear my correspondence that I didn't want the membership. If that's the policy, you need to come in in person to sign out. The part that really bothers me. They intentionally ignored my email and kept the membership going to take money out of my account, knowing full well that I didn't want the account, but that didn't matter to them. When I spoke with the manager, Isaiah, He was adamant I should've known better, because I was a member years ago. I assumed if they're accepting verbal signatures over the phone why would they take a letter with my signature? Also, why didn't Isaiah ( being the manager) call me and let me know I had to come in to sign out after reading my emails, or speaking with their sales man. I guess it was better just to ignore my emails and Club 24 just went ahead and took all payments out of my account because I did not come in in person!!!!!! I finally went to the gym because I'm stuck with the membership. I worked out a couple times, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't shake the feeling of being tricked. After reading the reviews, I guess I'm just another person to add to the list who encountered unfair cancellation issues at Club 24. Even though I was told they had free cancellation I guess this next 30 days is my free cancellation. They still take money out of my account for the last 30 days I don't see how that's free cancellation that doesn't make any sense. At the end of my 30 days I will have to make sure and check my account at the bank that they're not taking any more money out, it is such an awful feeling when you know someone to take your money out of your account that they don't deserve. I feel bad for other people that may fall into the same trap. I joined club 24 as school started to get out and get into shape I told them when I joined I wanted to do 2 weeks of training to get to know everything and get used to the gym but they signed me up for a 6 month contract without my signature and was forced to pay or they will sue me. I did 3 months and I could no longer afford it because I'm 15 and can't afford 300$ a week in training. So my dad came in and realized that Isaiah is a complete bully on how he handles himself . So we canceled our card and didn't come back but I would get calls everyday texts and saying if I don't pay legal actions will be taken. A few months then go by with no word then I get a letter club 24 is suing me for breach of contract for $1,500 and let me remind you I'm 15. Not crazy about the cleaning of this gym. I have mentioned to the staff on several occasions that the women's locker room could be better. Garbage in each bathroom stall overfilled the small garbage cans, dressing rooms not vacced. On one occasion I went to change for work, the cleaning crew was washing the floor in the women's locker room and did not vac first. She just swiped hair and dirt all over the floor with a dirty mop. This is a huge reason why I have canceled my membership. At times like this with Covid this place should be much cleaner. Eqipment should be wiped down after use and it isnt. As someone who held a membership here for over a year tonight I had quite the altercation. Having come here for a year I have made friends with many of the trainers and staff. Since this summer I have left for college and let my membership end. I am home for Christmas for a month and using 2 of my friends memberships that allow you to bring a guest (which you pay more for). I made it explicitly clear my first few times in at the gym I was not interested in purchasing a membership because I was home for a month. Seemingly many staff members here don't know how to take a hint. They were down my throat every time I was in with my friends, even calling me a "mooch" or a bad friend for "using" my friends for memberships. Upon leaving my ID at the front desk as a guest, almost 4 days in a row an advertisement to buy a membership was stuck to my ID which I threw away, on the fourth day I jokingly stuck it on their computer screen in an attempt to be funny but also a little our of annoyance. I was greeted the following week by the lovely manager named Isaiah who told me I was "motherfucking the staff when I came in and disrespecting his staff". I was told to "get the fuck out" and take my business elsewhere, which I gladly did that night. Quite the power trip if I do say so myself. Clearly the staff is so focused on commission rather than building a good clientele base and relationship with their customers. If you're looking to get a workout in and not be harassed as a guest that someone else has already paid for I 10/10 recommend not coming to Club 24. Hope this helps! read more

She is completely rude and I can tell by her coworkers demeanors that she is very controlling. I didn't know that she wasn't a manager from the first 2 weeks I was in there but quickly learned that she has no leadership role and is still very rude to members. But they told me that I need to see manager to cancel cuz they can't help me to cancel my membership. But whatever I'm free; the manager won't be there so I decided to call Club 24 corporation; They told me to write a letter to cancle& sign my name& send to Club 24 in Torrington. Yes I did like what they told me. And then they kept bill me monthy even though I stopped going there for a year. After a year they sent me a letter from lawyer that I need to pay all my debt +penalty $119.12. If I don't pay; I had to go to the court. Ok fine. I just paid that cuz I don't want to deal with it. This gym is great for those looking for a good environment and a good workout! From the moment you walk in the door, the staff is always greeting you with a smile and is very encouraging. I love this gym because it's so close and convenient to my house, and now that they are 24 hours again is great. That gives more opportunities to go for everyone, especially for those that work a different schedule and can't make it during normal hours. They have plenty of machines from cardio to weights, and for those that don't like to do cardio in public like myself hahaha they have a great dark room with a movie always on so I don't always have to be seen! The staff is always walking around to make sure the weights are all tidy, and that the facility is clean. Also, sometimes I never know what to do for a workout, but the trainers there are very approachable and love to help. I'll ask them so many questions, or if I need someone to spot for me, they are always there. They also offer personalized one on one personal training sessions which rock and kick my butt. I till them what I want to work on, and they create a customized program just for me, and that makes me feel really good. And if I'm really struggling for something to do, I'll just pop up into one of the many classes that they offer. From yoga to sculpt and chisel, and all things in between, they have something for everyone. When I'm all done, they offer the wonderful hydro massage beds which are great for recovery, and have awesome shakes to have after to refuel. I love this gym and recommend it to everyone. It's affordable for all the options that they offer, it's a great encouraging environment, and all the staff are so friendly. read more

ZERO stars if it would let me. Worst gym experience. Would not allow me to cancel a membership after being hospitalized for kidney issues, then moving to a different town they still wouldn't accept that as a cancellation notice because I was in their "mileage" of a different location. It would have taken me over 40 minutes to get to that other location from my residence. ABSURD. I have been an avid gym goer and member by entire life and have never experienced such horrendous treatment. I ended up paying for an entire YEAR membership when I only was able to workout at the location I signed up at TWICE before being hospitalized. Then, when I sent the certified letter cancelling (as instructed) my year membership, they told me I didn't send it in time and charged me for yet ANOTHER MONTH! Honestly they don't deserve any star ratings. But unfortunately I have to leave at least one to post this so. Yeah the gym is nice. But when I joined I started in membership obviously like everyone else. It was coming directly out of my bank account so it was always paid never behind. And found out that I would be leaving the state for a little bit. I went in I canceled my membership with Tori I thought I was all set to go. And then out of nowhere almost two years later I get a hit on my credit report saying I owe them money. So they never close the account down I close my bank account down and switch to a different bank. And then when I call to straighten it out I called to speak to the manager three times over two months and never got a call back. Then I call and speak to an employee who refused to give me the owner's name if it's corporate if it's privately owned nothing just telling me that if it's paid then you're all set you don't have to worry about anything. He didn't cooperate at all and my credit took a 28-point hit which is now hurting me from getting a house. So all I have to say is make sure you get it in writing otherwise they will screw you. Horrible customer service wouldn't put me in contact with the manager who was probably standing right next to him there a bunch of liars and all they did was escalate the situation instead of just cooperating and helping me. We have been scammed by this place. The worst service and client communication we have ever seen. Signed our 15 year old up for a membership- he gets a free training and we inquired about paying for additional training sessions. WE DID NOT SIGN A CONTRACT. they had our 15 year old who would never even understand what he was signing with the fine print. My husband called after seeing all these extra charges and was told there would be no more charges. NEVER ONCE WERE WE TOLD VERBALLY OR CALLED THAT WE SIGNED HIM UP FOR 6 MONTHS OF PERSONAL TRAINING. They took advantage of a 15 year old who will not be going back to the gym. We have heard from others that this has happened to them. Upon reading many reviews this seems to be a constant issue. This place is a scam, proceed with caution. My wife and I each had an account and went to cancel our accounts with COVID. Spoke with both employees and managers about canceling our memberships that had been active for two years. The statement we were told was that we could only cancel in person which was the first red flag. Went into the gym, cancelled both our accounts, specifically asked if there was any outstanding balance which they stated no to and that we could use the gym for the remainder of the month which we did not. Approximately 30 days later we are getting calls that we are past due and that we need to update our credit card on file..... Employee stated that we still owed 18 some odd dollars or "we will send this to collections department". Hmmm threats over 18 bucks... wow (quality customer service). Yesterday, 8/17/21 we get another call stating that we owe 106.00 because of no payment and INTEREST for an account we canceled, in person back in May 2021. Again, threats of collection agencies and "damage to your credit" coming from gym employees. The audacity of businesses today is ludicrous. The frosting on the cake here was that the open ended threat of collections agencies could be avoided if we just opened a new membership and apply the 106.00 dollars to our new memberships. It's ok, I just joined and hoping it gets better. The classes fit my schedule and it's location is why I cancelled my membership at planet fitness and joined here. The atmosphere is fine, and so far not intimidating, the staff is just as engaged as any other gym. My biggest disappointment is The resistance equipment needs some real maintenance if not replacement. The ladies dressing room and locker room could use more attention throughout the day, it wasn't disgusting but it was borderline all three different times and days. Hoping these issues are just the time of year and not how things really are. Giving it 3 instead of 2 at the moment because of the yoga class, that was one of my main reasons for joining was to add yoga back into my workouts and it was a great class. The class is more of a "gym" type yoga class not a yoga studio class which would make anyone comfortable. It was challenging but not as fast as vinyasa or intense as hot yoga. Crooks! I was in Connecticut for work and expected to stay there for 3 or more months. 10 days after signing the contract online and before I had a chance to visit the gym, my contract was unexpectedly cut short and I had to return home to Texas. I called the gym a few days later when I arrived in Texas and informed them that I'd like to cancel my membership as I have returned to my home state and that I had no choice in the matter. They told me they can't cancel the contract unless I come into the store directly. After a long process with various managers, they told me I have to send certified mail. I told them I don't have any extra money and am willing to send them an email. They refused, stating that only certified mail would work. I finally was able to send them the certified mail, they then requested that I send them a copy of my lease. I did that. Then they said while I was sorting all this out that some weeks had elapsed and that I owed them a month's payment in order for them to process my cancellation. They said there is nothing that can "do for me" in this issue and that I'd have to pay them everything. I told them I'll not be paying them a cent more. They are ridiculous! My brother signed up at this gym, and when he did he told them he was going into the military, so he wouldn't be able to be committed. Stay far away from this misleading hole in the wall gym. They never gave me a tour or was honest when and where the classes were going to be held. Finally was happy to go to a Zumba class only to find out it was cancelled! I paid $4.56 every week since January and also paid a $39.00 service fee in April. They did not even have the classes or the spinning classes until April! I wish I never signed up for this gym. I hardly went and I gave my 1 month notice in June to quit. I went today to use the chair massage with my son and they told me that he could not use it because it is not Thursday! I told them that I paid almost $250.00 and he cannot use the massage chair for 10 minutes because it was a day off and he couldn't make an exception! This is pretty much a planet fitness with a different name. It's great for the basics. Has all the basic machines you could need. Most if not all of the treadmills have their own private TV, they have a cinema room to watch a movie on a big screen while you're on a treadmill, they have hydrotherapy massage chairs, lockers, private changing areas, showers, bathroom.. etc. I first signed up online and upon my arrival to the Torrington location, I was simply asked my name. They took a quick photo of me and handed me my check in tag. No explanation of anything, no tour, nothing. I had to ask where the locker room was and was simply told 'over there'. I gave myself a tour and discovered that if your looking to do the group classes you need to go to the other side of the gym, up a flight of stairs and down a hallway. Would have been nice of someone to tell me that. There is another room down stairs that has personal trainers in it- have yet to figure out what that's about or how it works. Went to a class and the instructor never showed up. Tried again to go to another class and the instructor brought in a piece of paper and was reading off it barking orders for the class. Not impressed. I also found out your supposed to sign up for a class and get a class pass card- again, would have been nice of someone to mention that. No warm up/ cool down/ no stretching or even the encouragement to do so on your own time. The music during class kept cutting out and it was not very motivating music to begin with. The people I have talked to said that usually the class instructors are good- so maybe my two times were a fluke. Im really really trying to like this gym. Ive been a member for a few months now and joined souly based on price and location...which i guess is my own fault in the end. I also believed that it would be a great starter gym for my two friends (my coworker and his young son)that also joined with me who have NEVER worked out before in there lives. Im a member at Energy here in Torrington too...but my two friends that I signed up with wanted to sign up at Club24 because it was cheap and near there home. And I figured why not? Ive never had a serious issue with any gym ive ever worked out in...i was actually excited to join a NEW gym. To put it plainly, this gym has been a difficult experiece for all of us. Which is a strange thing to say about a gym. The management and service is absolutely terrible. I do like the trainers who greet you kindly and seem agreeable. And a few of the personnel behind the counter are nice and they do try. But its a situation of the blind leading the blind. The head manager has a lot to learn. And is sadly completley unaware of this fact. So he does poorly at his job which means everyone else does too. I cant even list everything that has been inappropriate and unprofessional in our experience at this gym. But i will list 2 huge issues. The BIGGEST ISSUE: They ask the 14 year old 8th grader who comes with us(with his father and I)to get his OWN membership. Sadly the staff are not aware of how inappropriate trying to get a sale from a child is...they continue to ask him...everyday. We had to go to the DMV for chrissake to get an ID for the 14 year old so he could even come in with us in the first place...because children dont have ID's...and they expect him to somehow pay for his own membership. It is on the verge of complete insanity that they continue to bother him daily about signing up. Its become a strange routine that we go through every time we go in...and it just leaves me sad and feeling bad for whichever poor soul is asking. His father paid for the more expensive membership SO HE COULD BRING HIS SON AS A GUEST...which brings me to my second issue. It always takes way to long to get in and out of the building...because they make us go through this long and exhausting process to sign the 14 year old in...and out of the building. Of course this is also when they absurdly inquire about the child "signing up today with a GREAT Deal!!"....its always a stupidly long process which puts me and the other adult with me on the verge of completely losing our minds. BUT....we are fighters...and will not simply quit this gym(and subsequently quit working out) because of these issues. All we can do is be positive and hope and pray it gets better. After all...they already have our money. We paid up front for 18 months! How was I to know this gym would have these obscure issues? So just be aware newbies...this facility has a long long way to go in terms of professionalism and im just hoping someone realizes it and can turn things around for this young gym. NOTE: People who read this who work at the torrington facility...please read this carefully and take note. Im practically begging. You can begin to make this a better gym. Im not just some negative individual out to hurt people and complain about nothing. Ive never put a review on any gym or restaurant or ANYTHING in my entire life. This gym is absolutely horrible i did not even wanna give them 1 star, but in order to post you have to at least hit 1.These people Lie,cheat, and steal money. My husband and I were going 2 separate accounts two different banks he was paying for membership i was paying for PT. However, when money was not in my account to pay PT they instead stole it from my husband's bank account without prior consent. Not to mention club manager Kevin is a liar, told my husband I had been in contact with my PT ( which I had not seen since end of Sept due to injury i went back once the my elderly dog fell down stairs so I was preoccupied with him so had not been to the gym or PT since then ( which at the time I canceled my PT) was told they would charge me 2 times since I didn't cancel in 60 days, come to find out it was never put in computer due to staffing issues which is another story that they are a revolving door when it comes to employees..why maybe because they are aware of their shady business. So now I am being charged 4 more times at 121.00 which I should not be being charged for as I was told only 2 times. The gym has also become dirty, people are going in and out without masks people are not following the guidelines and the manager is not enforcing it. Bottom line is I would NOT recommend this place to my worst enemy, as far as I can see this place should be closed permanently and the manager should go to jail for fraud. read more

This gym is very good at scamming people. Besides hidden fees. The Club 24 membership is also difficult to cancel. I called to cancel my membership and was unable to get their in person at the time. I was not told until 18 months after I canceled that my membership was never "properly" canceled because I didn't come in person. So they had been charging me all along, while I'm clearly not using their gym services!! They just called me a couple days ago to let me know that they haven't received payment from me and now a bill of almost $300 is going to collections. And the only way they could wave those fees to prevent it from going to collections is to re-sign up for 6 months (which will cost me almost as much as I owed)!!! If I didn't know it would cost me more in legal fees I'd be going to court over this. A VERY BAD way to do business. I can't wait to cancel in 6 months I marked it on my calendar. read more

Don't recommend. An average facility with expensive prices...not worth it. I went 2 days ago attempting to get in with a friends guest pass, but guest passes are only allowed certain days of the week (annoying). I was asked to pay $10 for a day pass, without knowing or being told about the free week trial. I tried going again today and was not allowed to use the free week trial since I had been there *once* before, AND had to pay *$20* for a day pass, even though my name wasn't in the system AND it was only $10 two days ago. Get a membership to the YMCA instead, same gym equipment with reasonable people and prices. read more

Not the best place,i enroll online anf after visit the gym i dint like it,so i call and talk whit a staff member,she told me she going to cancel my suscripción,well 7 months later i received a letter from a collection agency saying that i own them $75.00 because i never cancel the subscription and if i dont pay they going to report it so my credit score get a negative impact,be careful whit this guys if you dont wan bad surprise from them!! read more

STAY AWAY! This review refers to the Torrington, CT location. Might be lengthy but please read! I used to come in as a guest with my boyfriend all the time (for free), and eventually decided to join myself. Last week, I tried to bring my sister as a guest. They said she had to buy a pass because it wasn't a designated bring-a-guest day. I said, "But I used to come in all the time as a guest on many days of the week and I never had to pay. Why are you making my sister pay?" Manager responded that he had to follow the policy. I said, "Again, I used to come here as a guest all the time and I never had to pay. Why are you following your policy some times and not others?" He said that when we opened the staff may have been more lenient. So... you are nice and welcoming and lenient to everyone when you open to get people in the door, and then when they join, you suddenly become strict? Instead of saying that out loud, I explained more: "Please, my sister has been backpacking through New Zealand for six months. She doesn't have $10 to spend on a day pass. Can you please make an exception for today? She's visiting for a week and just wants to get on a treadmill for half an hour." Manager would not make an exception. I informed him that I love this gym and I come here at least once a week, but if he didn't let her in, I would cancel my membership. He said "OK, then cancel." So let me get this straight? YOU ARE WILLING TO SACRIFICE A LOYAL CUSTOMER AND FUTURE CONTRACT RENEWALS BECAUSE A GUEST COULDN'T PAY $10? How backwards is that?! You should sacrifice $10 to keep the customer. I will never step foot in Club 24 again and I will encourage everyone who's searching for a gym to join to STAY AWAY FROM CLUB 24! read more
