I've been coming to this studio for 3 months now. As someone who was brand new to Pilates but has spent years in the gym I was looking for a challenge and to move my body in a new way. I have absolutely loved Pilates and the way I feel after a class because of the instructors! There are so many classes and instructors to choose from and I am far from trying them all but here are some of my notes: Grace - a wonderful instructor if you're brand new, she explains every thing in detail from Pilates lingo to how to position your feet or how to breathe Marie - I took a stretching class with her and I loved how she connects your mind body and breathing throughout the session, great wind down from my usual intense routine Carson - as I'm getting more comfortable with Pilates moves I've started attending her classes and I love them because they push me to give it my all, I always leave feeling like I had an AMAZING workout Also Sarah, Milly-May, and Kayla I've taken one class with and were great instructors that I hope to have more classes with in the future! Overall highly recommend if you're looking to try something new or get into Pilates. There is a 3 month commitment when you get the membership and you should gift yourself that commitment to treating your body to these workouts! read more

I started Pilates after a recommendation from my physical therapist while recovering from a partial meniscus tear, and I am so grateful that journey led me to this studio. What began as a way to regain strength and feel more in control of my body has become something I genuinely cannot imagine going without. This studio is incredible. From my very first intro session, I felt welcomed, supported, and challenged in the best way. The instructors are extremely knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely invested in helping you get the most out of each class. They focus so much on proper form, which makes the practice feel safe, effective, and intentional. While I definitely have my personal favorite instructors, one of the best parts of this studio is that every teacher brings something different. They each have their own style, strengths, and way of teaching, and they are all excellent in their own ways. Trying new classes and different teaching styles has helped me learn what works best for my body, and it is part of what keeps the practice so interesting. If one class or teaching style does not click right away, it does not mean Pilates is not for you. It may just mean you have not found your favorite instructor or class format yet. The variety of classes is another thing that makes this studio stand out. There is always something new to learn, refine, or work toward, so the practice never feels stale. Whether you are brand new or looking to level up, the classes meet you where you are while still pushing you to grow. Over time, I went from an 8-class monthly package to an unlimited membership because I loved it so much. The impact has been both physical and mental, and this studio has played such a big role in helping me build consistency, confidence, and strength. I'm now at the point where I have been gifting gift cards to friends and family because I want them to experience this place too. If you are on the fence, give it a shot. As always, I am ever grateful to Jersey City Club Pilates staff for the always well-managed studio and supportive care for patrons/trainees. Signing up as a member has been one of the best choices I made to reconnect with Pilates for my own physical well-being and wellness. Classes are also highly available and varied. Which I appreciate. Staff also made utmost and professional efforts to take care of patrons and facility. Also today, I would like to commend Nassim as one of the best instructors to learn from. She is able to explain the theory and demonstrate clearly & carefully to make sure that we are kept honest with form or fundamentals. She is also able to carefully teach us the use of the chair and I am have seen physical improvements in my posture and core strength since. Last weekend I took my second class at club Pilates and it's been pretty good so far. My first class was free because I did the free trial where basically they show you all the equipment and give you a shorter class of Pilates for beginners. I loved that at the end of the class they just ask you if you have any question but never push you to feel compromise about getting their memberships. To get their memberships you have to pay an enrollment fee that I decided not to take since I can only afford one class a week and even paying it with the normal fee (39) my payments still cheaper then the enrollment fee but I do consider for those who takes the unlimited one they get a pretty good deal. I attended my classes at the Jersey Citi location and people working there is extremely nice and have helped me with all my questions. The two coaches I have taken classes with, were also really nice and they both were supervising the whole class to make sure my body was in the right positions. During the classes the coach was always instructing, there was cool music in the background and idk a lot about Pilates equipment but to me it looks like they have everything you will need lol I do feel we stretch a lot during Pilates but I LOVE IT read more

I am brand new to Pilates, I have never taken a class nor used a reformer before. My first experience in an intro class at club Pilates was an ok workout, but overall was not a great experience. I likely will try to find a different studio in the area. Here's why: 1) for $49 for a single class, I was very disappointed that the class started a few minutes late and ended ten minutes earlier than the scheduled time. For that cost, expect to make the most of the full hour scheduled. 2) At the start of class, there was the usual "is it anyone's first time" question, and I expressed that it was mine and I was a little nervous. I was the only one. And given I was the only one, I had hoped I'd have a little more hands on support to learn. So either I'm a total natural and just did everything perfectly, or there was no real guidance for me to learn and get the most out of the workout. 3) The instructor I had was quite condescending. And I'll add that the condescending tone wasn't even toward me, but toward others who weren't understanding the instructions for each setup. At one point me and the woman across from me made the wide eyed look about how strange it was. The whole thing made me uncomfortable and quite honestly didn't make it feel like a safe space to learn and grow in the practice. I think there is a big difference between being tough in a motivational way and what I witnessed. At the end of class I oddly heard two women tell the instructor they LIKED her teaching style...so I guess to each their own. It was not for me. read more

I've been a member of this studio for over a year. It's a very clean and conveniently located studio. The front desk is always very professional and helpful. I appreciate all of the teachers, they really make the experience worthwhile for me. I usually attend Lisa's classes and she is so zen. While her classes start gentle they end up being really tough! She has a different routine each time. If I'm ever able to take Grace's class it's a treat. She is so thorough and highly knowledgeable about all things Pilates especially body mechanics. All in all, each of the teachers bring something different to the table: Bonnie (makes me feel like I'm a dancer), Carson (will make me sweat the most) , Molly (is the best ever and would take her class in whatever studio she teaches at), Cassie (doesn't use weights but still class is so hard), Maria K (very structured). I always have to book my classes far in advance to ensure my spot. Pilates in general has helped my posture and because I am strengthening my core I don't experience back pain or neck pain as much as I used to before. read more

I had an exceptionally bad experience with this place. I acknowledge I was 20min late to a class and had the front desk ask the instructor if I could still join. The instructor said yes but then proceeded to lecture me on being late to class. Message received the first time from the front desk - no need to beat a dead horse.... If it was so much of an issue to join the class late - just say no. Don't make me change, come out and then give a lecture... Also, they won't let me cancel the membership because initially in May when I joined the minimum commitment was for 3 months. The studio did not open until mid October and even then, I did not have a full 30 days to use the class credits. Additionally, the weekend classes all get booked up as soon as the credits for the month are enabled. Unless you are able to attend off peak classes, try another studio. read more

Extremely unprofessional front desk and manager. I signed up for the first session and was excited to attend but found out day before the session that they cancelled my spot. Both the front desk and manager handled it very poorly. Front desk called back later saying they were actually able to secure a spot and when I asked to reschedule (because I did not have proper socks they required), front desk spoke with a very negative attitude. Shortly after, the manager called to immediately say "My staff tells me you were rude and unprofessional. What can I do for you?" even though I was respectful during the entire interaction. Absolutely unacceptable customer service, management, and lack of accountability. I also want to echo another reviewer (for another location) that the store will repeatedly encourage you to purchase their grip socks even after saying no. I had no interest in visiting this place again after this interaction and when I called to cancel, the front desk was again quite rude and terse. Dodged a bullet. read more

I really enjoy Club Pilates in Jersey City - I started a few months ago and have had a great experience for the most part. I say for the most part because a few of the instructors are exceptional. Molly, Bonnie, Orsyia, and Sabina are the best - they're professional, encouraging, helpful and so knowledgeable. They make you feel like you're doing a good job and getting an amazing workout. I will only take their classes going forward... Leeza on the other hand, is the absolute worst. I'm shocked to see a good review for her on Yelp because I've had two awful experiences with her. I don't even leave Yelp reviews but I feel so strongly about the negative impact she had on me and so many others in my class. I agree she gives you a good workout but the way she makes people feel is atrocious. When I first started taking Pilates, I took her class - she was degrading, harsh, aggressive (physically pressing on my body without warning to move me as much as an inch into the "correct position"). If you've taken pilates, you know you're feeling everything whether it's 100% "correct" or not. She also has a very heavy accent and she yells at people who aren't "following the directions" - when in reality, it's just extremely difficult to understand her. Point blank, she made me and many others in the class feel horrible, unathletic (I've worked out my whole life), and completely discouraged. I almost didn't return to CP because of her. A couple days ago I took her class again (I'm now a level 1.5-2 and have taken over 30 classes) - I only took her class because I have an 8-pack membership and it was the only option so I wouldn't lose the credit. I thought to myself, maybe I'll have a better experience now that I'm more advanced. Nope - even worse than the first time. Leeza was so harsh and condescending to everyone. At one point during class, I was trying to reset the foot-bar on my reformer and it was stuck - before I could even blink, Leeza came over and yanked the bar up, looked at me and said "level 1.5's should know how to do this." One young woman announced it was her first time taking a 1.5x class and when this woman didn't do one of the moves correctly, Leeza yelled at her in front of the whole class and said if she wants it to be easy she may as well go back to level 1. I was mortified for her to the point where I pulled the woman aside after class and told her to stick with it - and gave her recs of way better instructors (i.e. Molly, Bonnie). She was appalled at Leeza's behavior and looked so discouraged after class. If I could give her 0 stars I would - Leeza is AWFUL and I will never take her class again. I think Pilates is a great workout and well worth the money with an instructor who lifts you up and makes you feel good - not someone who tears everyone in the class down and gets pleasure out of making people feel like shit. read more

Leeza's class is not for the faint of heart. She is a beast, and I mean that in the best way possible. Everyone that takes her class is obsessed with her, because she demands the best from her people and doesn't give a damn if you like it or not. Don't take her class if you are a delicate flower. Take her class if you want an amazing workout with an even more amazing teacher. Leeza is the absolute best at what she does and even though every part of my body hates her the next day from the killer soreness, I'm thankful. Club Pilates in Jersey City has been a godsend for me. Several trainger work at the Jersey City location. I am very fond of Lisa. I took my first class with her; I had a fractured wrist and a sprained ankle, and she modified the workout for me until I healed and could do her more advanced classes. Lisa is also a little deceiving. She begins her workouts with gentle movements and quickly progresses to more advanced poses. By the end of the class, I always feel like I worked. Lisa focuses on all parts of the body, arms, legs, and core; I truly love working out with her. Molly is lovely; she has the most welcoming smile, but her workouts are nothing to smile about. She uses very challenging and diverse movements in her routines; it's like she has a catalog of poses and tests them all out on her poor unsuspecting students. The more you suffer, the more she smiles. Carson is the leg lady. She works the legs until they feel like spaghetti. Like Lisa and Molly, she is also very personable, helpful, and effective at inducing her students to groan in pain. Grace focuses on mechanics, which I found especially helpful in the beginning. She watches her students and corrects as needed. Her workouts are challenging and precise. She is a great pilates trainer because she pushes her students to think about and perform the various movements as precisely as they are meant to be done. Yoon is terrific. She constantly walks around the pilates room, passing from one patron to the next, correcting our form and ensuring we understand the movements she wants us to perform. Then, there is Leeza. Leeza is strong, fiery, and extremely challenging, I take one class with her every week, CP Control 1.5. Leeza uses every piece of equipment, every body part and a variety of movements to squeeze the last bit of energy and strength from her clients. At times, I have felt like crawling out of her class, but that would be a little embarrassing, so I walk home and soak in a hot tub instead. People will always complain, but those complaints should be taken with a grain of salt, because the classes are always full. I literally schedule two weeks in advance to get into my classes of choice. That must say something about the trainers and the facility. read more

This is my first ever Yelp review. I don't do reviews but I felt compelled. DO NOT JOIN this club. STAY AWAY! Very very very hard to cancel your membership. They keep on charging even you requested to cancel your membership. It is like you owe them your life. Also, some of their instructors are so rude. Some, you dont even understand what they are saying in class so you cannot follow. They really need improvement BIG BIG TIME. And until they improve DON'T JOIN, save yourselves money. I'd been to this studio a few times and the classes are always relaxing. The front desk attendant is always a little curt, but I've been able to look passed it. But my class from this week really showed how unprofessional this studio is. Upon arrival, there was a student passed out from a previous class. She was an older woman and the only thing the studio did was take out their first aid kit and talk her through deep breathing exercises (???) . I even heard the two front desk attendants say "I literally don't know what to do" to each other. When the woman got to her feet she collapsed again, right in front of me, and that's when they finally decided to call a medic. When our class started, there was no acknowledgment by the staff about if this woman was okay or not until we asked. Obviously our class was cut short as we started 30 minutes late and the front desk staff did not care when I asked to be refunded. They said they would call me that afternoon when the manager was in to discuss a refund. (They never called.) On top of all this there was extremely loud construction in the unit above us making it impossible to hear anything the instructor was saying unless she was right in front of me. It's scary to think that if I passed out here, the staff would not know how to handle the situation. read more

I wish they were as nice to me now that I committed to the three months as they were after my first intro class... I have been a member now for over a month and it is a hit or miss regarding the instructors. There are different levels to a class- reformer flow 1 being a "beginners class". Whilst I understand that the instructors only have 45-50 minutes (yeah it's not a full hour folks! ) , if someone is telling you that they're having issues understanding a certain workout I do not think being condescending is the best way to go. I like to read every instructors bio to have a sense of who they are- and regarding Adrienne no matter how many "pilates" recognitions they may have- it seems like when you have an issue understanding something she shrugs it off- doesn't bother to go over and explain and has a condescending tone. I am not paying $260 a month to have someone be rude about something that is obviously really new to me!! Again- I like pilates, and there are SOME instructors who I genuinely enjoy- but maybe management should have a conversation with some of their instructors and how they approach the people who are keeping this business running! Also- while not a location issue- charging a $10 fee for cancellation after 12 hours is ridiculous. Accidents and emergencies happen. Overall- will be looking for another studio once was my 3 months is up. read more
