I have been a regular ever since! Every instructor is knowledgeable not only in the exercise but in the specific muscles being used. They all are supportive, encouraging, will give many different options for the same exercise. They all are fun, kind and each show a real interest in you as a client. Many friendships are made there too. The owner, Helen, also creates fun incentives to get you to push yourself a little more than you might! Today on Halloween, one of the costume days this week, many of us dressed up in simple Halloween costumes and still worked out! I look forward to each time I go to Ballet Physique! The instructors all have a background in dance and help every single person with form and function. I e never had something change my body so quickly. I have also tried other facilities that focus on barre, they do a great job as well. I deeply prefer The Ballet Physique. People of all sizes and ages go. There is a rich sense of community. The level of support and camaraderie alone would get me to go. The much loved bonus is the positive changes to our bodies. Even when I ache, I go to barre and then I feel so much better. I was able to attend a candlelight hot yoga session free of charge through some app (going through…read morea trial period right now) just last night and had a wonderful time during the guided meditative session where I was able to release some of the tensions and stress I had. This DTC location is appears to be an addition to their current operation (their Lowery location might be their first one; I might be wrong though). They have a very welcoming atmosphere. Once inside, the reception area is quite roomy. You will immediately remove your shoes there so you can line them up against the window alongside Newport street. Lockers are available for class attendees. Store merchandise are placed mostly in the center of the welcoming area. The actual yoga studio is spacious. Very clean where you absolutely feel safe and comfortable. But most of all, relaxed. Yoga blocks and dumbbells (and other equipment) are in the little room to the right of it if you are facing upfront where the instructor is. If you forget a hand towel, no worries; they have plenty of them upfront for the attendees (free of charge). After your class, they give you a small rolled cold towel so you can refresh yourself; they are like "oshibori" given at a Japanese restaurant upon sitting at your table at the start of your meal (LOL)! Very considerate gesture indeed. I am still a beginner in yoga. Each time I attend a yoga class, I still get intimidated by the idea of it at the beginning but the instructor last night was one of the most helpful and supportive of not just mine but everyone's ability and limitations. I felt at ease as I could simply be myself with what I could do and couldn't do. And the candlelight without any fixed lightings created the most beautiful moment and atmosphere. I thus highly recommend this place.

My first class was Restore and it was a good first class after not working out for 4 months. I get a really good workout without putting a lot of strain on my knee, while also working my mobility and on strengthening my knee. This is going to be a great month working out my knee before I return to crossfit. When my month is done, I'm going to purchase a pack of classes to supplement crossfit. The staff and coaches here are so nice and the coaches give little pointers to be more powerful on your strokes. I love the attention they give to each member!!

The facilities reminded me of cycle studios with cool lighting and plenty of machines and the typical studio amenities like lockers, restrooms, and water purification system for water bottle refills. Also, the class wasn't 45 minutes of straight rowing but instead, you do about ten minutes of rowing and it's broken up with intervals of floor work which made the class more enjoyable since I was worried if I could even row for an entire 45 minutes.

And yes, that workout - every workout - is hard but they are also extraordinary! I have attended 49 classes, I have lost over 10 lbs. and more than 12 inches. I'm stronger, leaner, more flexible and I can't wait to see what the next 49 classes will bring! The barre instructions are knowledgeable, and invested in seeing each participant meet their best! The owner, Jess Taylor has been my Pilates instructor nearly 4 years. After more orthopedic surgeries than I care to post, it is because of her knowledge, experience and caring approach to her clients, that I can do absolutely everything that I love to do in a body that is strong and balanced even with all the new parts. She has taught me how my body is supposed to work mechanically and how to optimize what I do and how I do it to keep it working that way. My daughter and my friends have equally benefited from the good that happens working with Jess. So happy she's in the hood now - can't wait to try out all the fun new classes at the Ground too!!
