Every Club Pilates sucks. Always hard to get in and it's overpriced. Their contracts are horrible.

I first saw an ad…read morefor a free introductory class at this location which is how I learned of them and then I saw that they also have a location at Penn station. For my introductory class, I signed up for their Core Pilates. It was really difficult to sign up. I had a hard time getting in contact with anyone (it took about 4 attempts). But when I finally did, the sign up process was easy. They had a lot of classes to pick from, including Pilates, Barre and cardio classes. I didn't realize when I signed up that this was a reformer class. I usually do mat Pilates, but there were a few other beginners in the class and the teacher was very patient and nice. The great thing about the reformer machine is that you can turn up or turn down the intensity of the workout according to where you're at. It does take more coordination than I'm used to being on the machine, but it was fun! The teacher helped make adjustments so I could get the maximum benefit, which I appreciated. The Hackensack facility was really nice and big. They had complimentary lockers and towels and the changing room and restroom were both clean. The membership is kind of steep at $279 per month, but they do have discounts for 26 years old and under an 65 years old and over at their other locations.

The people that work there are super friendly and always say hello to you when you walk in. They also have the fitlinxx system in place so that you can track your workouts and keep an online diary of your progress. The locker rooms are also super clean and have digital locks so you don't have to bring your own locks. I guess where this place lacks the 5, 4 , or even 3 star rating some times is in the price for what you get. The equipment is fairly outdated for spending $70/month to be a member there. I have also noticed that things take forever to get repaired if they breakdown. I believe they just changed over management which means that everything could be better now, but this was a huge issue when I was there. I also had issues with getting new machines and free weight exercises added to my fitlinxx profile. I asked a few different times, and they trainers that they have to assist you were unable to add new exercises in. It wasn't a huge deal, but was something that was annoying when you expect this great system to have exercises for all the equipment that they provide. Overall as I stated in the beginning. I went to this gym for over a year and really enjoyed it. If the gym was $20-$50/month it would be a 5 star joint in my book. For the price however...join New York Sports Club in Westwood. Twice as nice, and has alot more modern equipment.

A fair amount of time there are no trainers on the floor, and the front desk actually let me go for 2-weeks before I NOTICED that I had to renew my annual membership. God only knows how much longer I could have gone without paying. They have no electronic workout tracking systems. The antiquated system they had is no barely functional because the company that runs and maintains it went out of business last January. I suspect they are getting ready to shut the place down. But if they aren't they really need to put some money into it and upgrade it to the 21st century. The new managers there are really running the place poorly.

While not all…read moreinstructors are created equal, once you find which class/instructor you like, you will be hooked. My personal favorites are Jackie, Nina, Courtney, Vanessa, and Allie. Jackie's Cardio Sculpt is literally the BEST exercise class I've ever taken. Nina is so sweet in remembering everyone's names and is always finding new ways to challenge us in 1.5s. Courtney's Suspend classes are awesome. And Allie's Center and Balance are perfect for a gentle restore mid-week. I've found the classes to be the right mix of pushing you to give your all, but flexible to match your specific ability. There are always options given to make a particular move easier/more challenging and this is truly a no judgement zone. People of all shapes, sizes, ages, and genders are welcomed with open arms. I was extremely intimidated the first time I came, but that quickly went away when Sophia assured me I would love it (she was right!). If you're on the fence, give it a try.

Sandy on the other hand, is a different story. At first I was very impressed by the workout Sandy had us do. It flowed great and I was confused by the bad reviews I'd seen about her on Google. But someone didn't sit right with me. I scrolled Instagram later on that day and saw a pilates instructor post their flow. IT WAS THE EXACT SAME FLOW SANDY HAD US DO. I looked through the following and sure enough, Sandy follows this creator. Sandy completely took another instructor's flow, cue for cue. This makes me wonder what her training was like. If she can't create her own class flows, what is she even doing as an instructor?

The membership is $50 a month ($57 if you include all the fees) which is so outrageous to me and that doesn't even include classes? I don't know, I was very excited by Femme being a women-only space, but I feel like they're abusing that to up-charge women for a gym I wouldn't pay more than $30-35 with their offerings. I would definitely consider returning if they lowered their prices. But compared to other gyms in the area, this just doesn't make sense financially.

For example, when I moved away, they were trying to charge me however, I had to point out to them a couple times that do the distance I was moving away as per my contract I shouldn't owe anything else. Now it would have been ideal if these were things that they were aware of and not things that I had to remind them of. But overall, I had a very positive experience here. I think if they had increased their hours or offered a more varied selection of gym classes, they could really open up anew Market here.
