This was my first time ever going to a barre class and I had a great experience. The instructor knew my name and took the time to help me and direct me. She made sure I had the right posture and motivated me to work even harder! As a result, I felt comfortable and really enjoyed my experience. Not to mention, the other women in the class were so nice afterward and asked how I felt and encouraged me to come back. You can tell the regulars believe in the class and are passionate about it! For the new people: make sure you wear leggings at or below the knee and a top or shirt (you can't wear just a sports bra). I also recommend grip socks! They sell them there too. read more

Usually classes are fine, but recently I registered on the app the night before a class, and was on my way to class the next morning. I even got a pop-up text message my class was about to begin. When I got there, turns out they had canceled the class! The lady behind the counter was rude, and said she could not put me into the next class because it was full and I would have to stay and wait to personally ask the instructor. A little better customer service would go a long way. read more

I developed plantar fasciitis after several years of taking classes at the Ridgewood NJ studio from repetitive releves in classes. Months of physical therapy barely relieved my constant pain from my injury from taking classes here on a regular basis several times a week. I cancelled my membership due to my injury and no one from the business ever called me to see how I was doing after years of being a client? I wish that I had done my research before joining. I was a long time member of Bar Method Hoboken & would occasionally come to Ridgewood when I was home for the weekend or the holidays. The instructors were phenomenal and the studio is super clean & feeling new! If you're new to bar method, you will absolutely not regret it but you need to stick through it! The small isomeric movements target specific muscles to fatigue them and then immediately stretch and elonnnnngate. My flexibility and strength increased tenfold. read more

The Bar Method is a super effective toning, fat burning workout. It works every muscle group to exhaustion followed by tough dance and yoga stretches to achieve that lean ballerina body. All in 60 minutes, then you're out the door feeling superb. It is practically no-impact and so effective ... I bought a package after my first class here and officially am addicted to the "burn"! The energy among the staff and clients is positive and healthy with friendly camaraderie, and the teachers demonstrate genuine care for everyone. They learn everybody's name and encourage and push you during every class. The instructors here are AMAZING, experienced, and knowledgeable ....... they will not let you skive off during class for even one minute! This studio is gorgeous and upscale, kind of a combination between a ballet studio and day spa. The locker rooms/ showers are lovely and well stocked, there is ample free parking and child care. I tried (and reviewed) another Bar Method studio nearby that offers the same type of class -- although the studio environment and amenities in the Ridgewood location were so much better than the other, it was hard to believe it is even the same franchise. Prices are higher than your average gym but lower than with a personal trainer, and my results have been far better than I experienced with a trainer. I am hooked. read more

It's been over two years since my first class at Bar Method Ridgewood, and it's still as challenging as day one! Bar Method has helped me increase my flexibility and is responsible for helping me build the core/leg strength I need for running and snowboarding. It is a total weight bearing workout that leaves me sweaty and challenged every time I take class. What I really appreciate is how knowledgable all the teachers are about proper form - they're super hands on! The studio space is beautiful and filled with amenities: childcare, 2 showers with toiletries, 3 bathrooms, and space to get ready if you're getting brunch downtown after class. I can only say wonderful things about this place. Two major surgeries later at the ripe old age of 25, I didn't think I could exercise like how I used to... then my friend introduced me to The Bar Method and it changed my life!!!! This place is basically my second home and I love every minute of every class. It's a zero impact exercising class that tones up your body in 45 mins - 60 mins (depends on which class type you take). The Bar Method Ridgewood is an extremely well run, clean facility with a variety of classes throughout the day. As a member since July 2018 I am stronger and feel better the composition of my body (less fat more muscle). I work a high pressure job which I travel a lot, due to the number of classes offered during the week, I am always able to find at least three classes a week that fit my schedule (I couldn't do that at major high end gyms). The teachers, staff and owners ALL care about YOU individually and your success on your transformation is their #1 priority. The teachers are always so helpful, friendly and tough in a good way . I have to admit that I hate to exercise...but with the results I get from The Bar Method, I can't help but to get myself into the studio! The Bar Method Ridgewood is beautiful & clean. I love the fact that they provide towels, a locker with a key and a great changing area! My kids always look forward to going to their child care - they have so much fun while I get a great work out!! Win/Win!! The 60 minute work out is AMAZING!! I can certainly feel it working it's magic - burning & toning! The instructors are all great. They will encourage and motivate you BY NAME (nice touch) during the class to make sure you are in prime form to get the most from each exercise! This is the best gym in the Bergen county area. I wouldn't even it call it a gym but more like a home away from home - it's THAT special! It's also conveniently located near all major roads and has ample lot and street parking, I never have issues. This gym has really cheap babysitting with an adorable playroom deigned for kids of all ages. I feel completely comfortable dropping my baby there. As a first time mom and stay at home mom this amenity was what sold me on a monthly membership. Where do I even begin to describe my love for The Bar Method? The minute you walk in you don't feel like you're at a gym, but more like a spa or a good friends house. It's awesome that even the owners wear the socks!! As for the workouts they are second to none. The exercise is efficient, easy to follow, purposeful and results-oriented. I have lost over 30 lb in a year and I am physically more toned and stronger. I'm also happier, calmer and creative as a result of The Bar Method. Every instructor is skilled and unique. I haven't taken a class I didn't love. Not only are the instructors highly trained and knowledgeable in human anatomy they are really nice and down to earth (funny too!). I feel comfortable here and I will be a member for life. Beautiful place. Folks are nice. The schedule of available classes is very thin for the price of $175 monthly. Also it gets so crowded that it can be difficult getting a reasonably small space at the bar. I decided to cancel my membership and was told they would still charge me for the current month and the month following. I agreed to this but 3 months later noticed they were still charging me. I called and they said that although they have a record of my request to cancel, because they do not have a cancellation form on file, they will not refund me and moreover, they will charge me for this month and the next. read more

I joined Bar Method when they opened their doors in May. I have been a long time fan of barre workouts but place is the best! Bar Method got me in the best shape of my life for my June 23rd wedding. Not only did I fit in my wedding dress perfectly but I felt amazing and confident in my bikini on my honeymoon! Now I am 3 months pregnant and I am still going to Bar Method 5 times a week. The instructors are so helpful and supportive. They give individual attention and positive support. The workout is very effective for toning and fat burning. There is a METHOD to this madness! I started taking classes at The Bar Method in Ridgewood last November and wanted to walk out of the first few classes. I stuck with it and before I knew it--I was obsessed. As I grasped the proper form and became stronger, it only got better. This is a body changing workout that doesn't involve doing crazy high-intensity moves that leave you drained and usually hungry post-workout. This is a workout phenomenon that incorporates these micro-movements that trim, tone and lift. After working specific areas you stretch and elongate the muscles just worked. I have worked with trainers and participated in other fitness crazes--but The Bar Method has changed my body more than any other workout and I am excited to continue. read more

I did a drop-in class, and though I really enjoyed it, I unfortunately will not be joining. It's basically a sculpting/calisthenics class -- not really as novel as they make it sound. It's pretty pricey for what you get. I could join a whole other gym for less money -- where they've invested in equipment, numerous complementary classes, and available 24/7 -- AND I'd get a sculpting class included. The Bar Method schedule is not really great for working women, and they do not let you use Bar Method in other locations which was really the clincher for me -- if I could have used the one near where I live and the one near my job, I might've been able to make their limited schedule work for me. It's a very nice studio -- super clean, lovely staff, lovely clientele -- no sweaty, hairy, muscular dudes in tank tops. But they just charge way too much money for exercises I could probably do at home on my own. read more
