Beware! Signed up for a membership on July 9, canceled it July 10 (because I didn't like the location) and the gym is still trying to charge my credit card every month. I physically went in and filled out the proper forms (cancelation form) and I paid an extra fee at sign up time so I could cancel anytime. Gym is great if you like high school weight room equipment from the 90s. Front desk staff are either high or deaf. Everyone I call I have to repeat the spelling of my last name 5 times. Join a nice corporate gym with modern equipment like LA Fitness. read more

This is a great gym. They have many machines and all the workers and trainers are very kind and recognizes everyone who comes in often. This gym is very friendly and everyone who comes in to work out will also socialize after a while making opposition meet new people. This gym is also very clean and neat and well organized and large. There are many tools and machines to help each workouts you plan and the fitness room is great. Also they have a boxing ring inside!!! read more

I followed a Zumba instructor to this powerhouse gym location which is actually quite a distance from my house. The employees here are the friendliest and most helpful group of people I've ever seen at a gym!! The price is reasonable and the facilities are always clean. read more

I really like the new equipment, but would really be nice to have better locker rooms and add a sauna. Other gyms are competing with nicer amenities for a lower price. The bathrooms are not in great condition and would not dare to shower there. A sauna would be nice as majority gyms have them now. read more

I was in town to help my younger brother through hospice and then plan his funeral. I went to this gym, because it was near the hospital. I went in and told them (a) why I was in town and (b) told them that I am training for Arizona Raw Strength competition. I told them that I needed to deadlift in my bare feet. They told me "no problem" and acknowledged that that is a common request amongst powerlifters in training. I paid for four sessions in advance. Overall, the place had the equipment and was reasonably clean. The front desk staff seemed distracted and out-of-sorts most days. I show up for my first session, and the place is full of "gym bros" doing a million curls with tiny weights. They were vanity lifters with almost no appreciation for the discipline of real training. I had the heavy weights to myself. I trained. I left. The next two sessions were similar. I deadlifted with no shoes. I shouldn't have to explain why that is important to those who are serious lifters. I trained. I left. On the fourth visit, a lumbersexual appeared at my shoulder while I was finishing my deadlifts. He ordered me to put on shoes, because "lifting barefoot is unsanitary" and "makes the other members uncomfortable". He claimed to be the manager. I told him the truth. My brother died the day before. This was my final set on my final day in his gym. His tone softened a bit. I also explained that his front desk staff SPECIFICALLY told me that I could deadlift barefooted. Then, the lumbersexual got mad. He said, "I AM THE MANAGER. Whoever told you that was wrong." I told the guy to chill. I was leaving. No biggie. I entered and won my age/weight division in Arizona in June. My home gym in Tucson won its THIRD national championship IN A ROW. We have multiple world record holders. Look, I want to give people a break, especially after losing my brother, but, after waiting a few months, this experience really bothered me. The lumbersexual manager strikes me as a bully to his staff and a poor leader. Also, I don't think he knows a single thing about real strength training. Go here if you don't care about the staff and know what you need to do. If you need help or real training, go somewhere else. I think this place will get you hurt. This gym is like open water for beginning swimmers. Not good. Also, the men's locker room was an outdated pig sty. Which, of course, made me wonder why my barefoot training on the stall matts was "unsanitary"... Peace, STP read more

When I signed up the guy lied to me about the membership and said I could cancel at anytime, no problem. I was diagnosed with a medical condition AND I am moving out of town. Turns out I am locked in and cannot cancel unless I pay a fee. NOT what I signed up for. The facility itself is very nice. The owner later contacted me and was very friendly about everything. It made me feel better that they care about customers feedback. My advice is when you sign up make sure you get all the details and read the fine print. read more

By far the best gym I've been to in Macomb county. The overall attitude of the other gym goers is great too. Most of the people work hard and don't hog machines or squat racks for extended periods of time. When I worked out at Lifetime Fitness, everybody was always standing around playing patty cake and there were very few hard workers. Also, Powerhouse has fair monthly fees for a large gym with access to so much equipment. read more

It's a nice gym.. Although I wish there was more equipment.. But it's just nitpicking ... I do wish they had more space for body weight workouts.. The only place for pull ups was occupied by one dude for 2 hrs straight.. But I'm just gonna go in early to avoid that.. And get my work out going.. read more

I am from Chicago and was in town visiting. My brother recommended this gym and I have to say that it's fantastic! I bought a one-day pass and ended up going two days in a row. They have all of the necessary cardio and exercise equipment and also dumbbells. I really like that there is a lot of space in between machines and in many cases there are two of the same machine (in case someone is using it). The entire gym is spotless!! On the days that I went (Friday and Saturday morning) it was not busy- which I liked. The storage lockers are nice and big. I used the semi-private showers and they are SUPER clean and the water is nice and hot! Remember to bring a lock for the lockers and also a towel and soap if you plan to take a shower. read more
