Ms. B. is often rude and makes unnecessary comments that come across as catty and unprofessional. A welcoming front desk sets the tone for the entire experience, and I hope this is addressed because the quality of the instructors deserves better. read more

I've been a loyal Club Pilates member for many years and have completed 448 classes. I always paid on time, never froze my membership, and supported the brand through many changes -- including the transition to Spartan Corporate ownership. That change, unfortunately, marked the beginning of a long, disappointing decline in quality and care. Spartan now owns and operates several Club Pilates studios in New Jersey, including Wyckoff, Emerson, Montvale, Oakland, Paramus Park, and Wayne. But it no longer feels like Club Pilates -- it feels like Spartan Fitness trying to wear a Club Pilates name tag. The warmth, community, and quality that originally defined the brand are gone. Before Spartan took over, the instructors were incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping us grow in our practice. Classes felt thoughtful, safe, and personalized. Now, the newer instructors often act more like drill sergeants than coaches. There's a rigid, cold atmosphere. They treat the class like it's their performance instead of focusing on the actual members doing the work. I've even been scolded for adjusting movements to protect my body -- despite having herniated and slipped discs. That was something I used to be able to safely manage with Pilates, but now these classes offer me no relief or benefit. I leave feeling nothing -- no improvement, no support, no connection. Still, I stayed loyal and kept my membership, even when I wasn't getting anything out of it anymore. At one point, I truly believed in Club Pilates. I was a walking advertisement for the brand. I even created a video about how much it had helped me physically -- and that video went viral. That's how strongly I believed in the power of the practice and the community. But now, I couldn't recommend it to anyone. The current leadership under Spartan has completely shifted the tone and stripped away the integrity of what this used to be. I recently experienced a short period of financial hardship and asked for a one-time courtesy refund for a charge I couldn't cover. After years of commitment, perfect payment history, and sticking with the company even as things declined, I was told no -- with a generic, canned response and zero empathy or flexibility. What's worse is the fake concern that followed. Messages like "we're so sorry" and "we'll miss you" mean nothing when there's no action or effort to help. If Club Pilates truly cared about its members, especially the long-standing ones, it would treat them like people -- not just invoice numbers. I've since found better alternatives with better instructors and better values. I'll be sharing my experience with fellow members and in reviews, not out of anger, but because others deserve to know the full picture. If you're considering joining one of the Club Pilates locations now run by Spartan, understand that what you're signing up for is not the original Club Pilates. It's something entirely different -- and far less human. read more

I went from never working out to addicted to reformer pilates 5 days a week for several months now. unlimited is the way to go. my favorite teachers in Wyckoff are Jackie, Rachel, Danielle P and Jacob. really all are great! read more

Absolutely love the classes. The instructors have amazing routines and they are always changing it up. I been going there for a few months now and I've notice such a difference in how I do my workouts in and out of class. Even with 1.5 years of machine Pilates, I still consider myself new because it takes YEARS to develop the flexibility and form to get it just right. I LOVE machine Pilates and I've tried dozens of studios in Manhattan, Queens, and NJ. I have to say Club Pilates doesn't rank in my top 5, or top 10 for that matter. The pros: the studio is clean, they have pretty good deals/specials going on now, the app is convenient and easy. The location/parking is amazing. However.... Let's just say my first class did not go very well. Now I understand this studio has mixed classes (e.g. TRX, barre, etc.). That's great but I prefer to keep the Pilates separate from barre or anything else because I come here for stretches and exercises to really tone and shape the body. Long story short, the instructor wanted to incorporate 30 minutes of weights/barre moves into our class. I specifically signed up for a REFORMER class. I would much prefer to go to the Bar Method or Pure Barre if that was what I was looking for. Thankfully, she switched back to Pilates a few minutes into the weights. I was already a bit frustrated by the start of the class, but the instructor was extremely difficult to understand, and we had to clarify instructions multiple times each time we made changes to our position. I took another class here with a different instructor, and she was fantastic. Since this is such an intimate class (anywhere from 3-12 people) the instructor really makes or breaks it for me, and I can't say that the quality of instruction is very consistent. If you're able to take advantage of the specials, I would say try out a few classes, because everyone is looking for different things, but I'm really on the fence about joining as a member or not. 3 stars. read more

I am very disappointed by the staff of club pilates. As a college student home for winter break I have always wanted to try pilates as they also offer it at my school. I saw that club pilates offers a free intro class for those who have never done it. I thought it would be perfect for me as I have always wanted to try pilates and can do it both at home and school if I liked it. Unfortunately I was woken up this morning by a call from an employee rudely asking me if I am 100% sure if pilates is for me. She explained that this is a 3 month commitment (excluding the intro class which is what I signed up for!!) I called back after telling my friend who also signed up for the class and told them I do not want to workout in a place where I do not feel welcomed. She told me that there are other people on the waitlist who would be more committed (confused because we don't know each other so how does she know my commitment) I didn't know that just because I am a college student that means I won't be committed to pilates (never tried it either... again I signed up for the intro class to see if I would like it). We have club pilates at my school, and I wanted to try it here at home with a friend as a fun experience. The owners response is 100% inaccurate. The studio manager was not able to answer my questions regarding clarification of the policy, how much I would be charged and access I would during the 30 day waiting period. I left numerous voicemails and emails for the owner who never responded. read more

I went to take a sample class (from a Facebook ad). I took two and enjoyed them (I'm new to Pilates). There was an open house that second day and a hard-sell push to take membership. I knew I was going away and was unsure if my very busy work life would allow me to go often. I said as much to the staff, and I signed on for a month...or so I thought. As I expected, I could not find time for classes and didn't go again. Four months later, my husband realized that I had been charged $79 monthly for 5 months. I called the club, explained my situation, and was told that I had signed (small print) a regular membership. Ok, my fault. I should have read the small print and seen the charges. I asked to be removed and to stop membership. The manager asked that I come by to discuss using the months paid as a credit. I couldn't get over to the club. A month later, charged again. This idea of monthly membership based on small print, and no understanding or willingness to refund my money, makes me write this to give potential members the heads up for what you sign based on what you hope to get. read more

I do not have another option but to give it one star. I wish there was a negative star. This place is a mess! No one knows what is going on. People are being charged without consent. Even after cancelling you are still charged. Then they won't give you your money back. The retail is never updated, they won't give you cups for your water since they want to be paperless. They don't have a schedule, the app doesn't work, they change their managers and staff more than the owner changes underwear. I have even heard the owner say that the staff is useless. Not a good energy or vibe. A word of advice you should not own a fitness facility if you look like you have never worked out in your life. read more

Took Cathy's class and loved it!! She made it fun and enjoyable, while giving a great workout! You can feel the energy and passion she has for Pilates and it makes the class that much better. She's very knowledgeable and helpful with the machines, especially if it's your first time using a reformer. Highly recommend taking one of her classes. read more

As for the studio, the classes, and the instructors for a suburban Pilates studio its pretty good. However, the management, the business running, and the customer service... I have no words. As a business owner I WOULD NEVER treat my customers the way they treated me. An emergency situation moved me abroad for a few months for which membership was supposed to be canceled, it was not my credit was cancelled however and for 3 months I did not receive not one email, not one phone call, not one letter in the mail until 4 months later as I am abroad in Europe I got not stopped phone calls, text messages and harassment from their staff telling me I owe money, I owe fees. Complete harassment. I ended up just doing the right thing and paying the 4 months of membership which was never used, they did ABSOLUTELY nothing to work with me or try to help, they said I signed a contract where in tiny tiny print somewhere stated whatever. I would not suggest this studio or their management ever, they should start learning how to properly run a business first. read more
