These other places wanted to charge $100+ just for a quick 5 min diagnostic. Lester's was very straightforward with me as to what they thought was the problem over the phone, and didn't charge me a single thing for a diagnostic. They don't upcharge on the parts and have a very fair pricing model, and were able to diagnose the issue and change all my spark plugs for 30% cheaper than what other shops were estimating it would cost. They also gave me great advice on how to fix my bumper's scrapes, without having to refinish the whole thing. Lester's is one of the most HONEST and STRAIGHTFORWARD mechanics I've been to, and they don't try to sell you more than what you need. I had a great experience here and will definitely come back here for all my future auto/body repair needs.

Lambs Auto Repair Review *WARNING* First time bringing my car in here since it changed from McSpaddens to Lambs in Buda and wow I am SUPER disappointed. I brought my car in due to a gas smell it was giving- and for them to do a diagnostic test to see what may be the issue. Mind you my car has never over heated or my check engine light was never on. They called me after running a couple tests saying I had two options because they believed I had a broken head gasket. They said I needed a brand new motor For 12,000.00 or they were going to need to replace head gasket and surrounding parts for around 6,5000.00. I know nothing about cars so I call my husband in a panic. Thank God for my husband knowing things about cars. It just didn't seem possible my car needed all that work. So we took it from Lambs and found another shop recommended by some friends. Champion Auto Repair in San Marcos. HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking your car there instead. They are honest, experienced and do quality work. Ask for Lucas Collier, was so impressed with him. They ran all the tests and found NO broken head gasket! Turns out my jeep just needed a little tune up ( new spark plus etc) and more importantly IF my head gaskets needed replacing ,as Lambs had said, this new shop quoted us 2800.00 for the EXACT same repair. Doing research we found Lambs was BEYONd over charging us and charging us for repairs that weren't even needed!! feel pretty taken advantage of, and would still be trying to figure out a way to take a loan out to be able to pay for a repair at Lambs that was never even needed. Definitely won't be trusting this shop. Lesson learned 1. Always do research on cost of parts and 2. Over a year ago, we had a great experience here. The San Antonio Mercedes dealership told us our…read moreolder Mercedes needed $1,000's in work and the service manager (Tim) assured us this was untrue and righted our course. Later, they replaced a fuel pump at a reasonable rate. This year, we brought the car in (check engine light was on) and were told we needed a new thermostat which they charged well above the predicted market rate to perform. There is a new service manager who is polite but I just didn't feel the same trust that I had the year before. 3 days after the thermostat replacement, the check engine light was back on and Dealer Alternative told us the waste gate was stuck "open" and unfortunately the entire turbo system would need to be replaced. Gulp, $4,200+ I checked with a well known foreign car garage in Austin and they provided a Mercedes master mechanic contact. $271 later, the master mechanic has replaced a breather hose, a vacuum hose , reconnected two loose hoses and of course charged the diagnostic fee around the turbo issue. Guess what, the turbo is fine and the car purrs. So, did Dealer Alternative knock hoses loose which created the code, or take a short path and just use the code to justify an expensive repair? Did they lie flat out about the waste gate being stuck? I don't know. But I'm very disappointed and don't feel they are the right folks for something other than minor repairs

Mark, the mechanic is a FRAUD…read more In 2022 he replaced my AC compressor on my 2009 Nissan Frontier, he obviously did not flush the system out properly, stray particles got into the new compressor and it was screaming from the start when I picked it up. Mark charged me like ~$500 labor, he had me buy the parts myself (strange). I bought a NEW compressor kit from rock auto. Than, I decided to try a 2nd time, called him in late May 2023, he said real busy, call back in a week, I started calling on that Thursday, 3 calls later could not get him to answer. Finally I called the A-1 alternator front office, he said: " he's back there !" I called again, got Mark on the phone, he said:" I am REAL busy, if you need it fast I cannot help you. " I said it's not that I need it fast, I just need to schedule it with you - - - but it was obvious from his sour attitude he was not wanting the job back at all. He should have given my money back for the shitty job he did before. I will never use them again.
