wish I had read the reviews before hiring CMC floors. I had runners made for two sets of stairs. The owners did not explain the difference between the two types of bindings and guaranteed that the weave was tight enough that a dogs nails would not make pulls. Within the first week there was a large pull on one of the stairs, they came and replaced that stair and fixed some staples that were protruding in the runner. Within the month the top 3 stairs of one of the flights had pulls and the binding was ripping. Showed them pictures they advised it was my fault. I was accused of vacuuming it incorrectly and my dogs nails being too long! If that was the case why is there only a problem with 3 stairs and not all 28? I requested they replace the 3 stairs in questions with no reply. Very unprofessional! I would not recommend them! read more

I wish I had read the past reviews before hiring CMC Flooring. As mentioned in the other reviews, the owner, Chris Coyle, is shockingly unprofessional. He uses a subcontractor to refinish hardwood floors. During phase one, floor boards that needed to be removed were taken out and replaced with new oak floors. However, Chris never discussed a plan on how they would dispose of the removed floors. Now, I have 7 incredibly heavy garbage bags full of old wood, nails that are sticking out of the bags, and wood sanding dust sitting on my front walkway. The next day, the subcontractor arrived to sand and stain the floors. Chris told me to choose a Minwax stain (although he calls it "Mini"wax, which is surprising since this is his line of work), so I did. He told me the subcontractor would paint samples of Minwax colors on the floor after it was sanded to ensure that I like the color I chose. However, the subcontractors didn't have Minwax stains in the van! I had to start the color search from scratch. The subcontractor brought in 4 different colors (different brands) and painted samples on the sanded floor. After choosing one the sample colors, the subcontractor told me he didn't have enough of that stain so I needed to go to the store to buy more of this Bona stain for the project. Seriously.... this is part of the service I paid for, so I called Chris to have him solve it. Chris doesn't carry stains in his showroom (it's a flooring company) but said he would get it resolved. When I returned home later that day, the floors were stained. However, they came out significantly lighter than the sample that was painted for me earlier that day (see attached photos to prove it). And the worst part? I found circular sand marks all over the floors (see attached photos)! None of these marks existed prior to this sanding project. The next day, I asked Chris to come over with the subcontractor to look at the circular sand marks they left on the floors. He reluctantly agreed to come over (arrived an hour later than discussed and was visibly aggravated the entire time). Both Chris and the subcontractor told me that the circular sand marks happened because the floors are old. My floors are standard oak floors in a house build in 1962 and other contractors have already confirmed that this is not true. Even if this was true, he should have discussed the possibility that this would have happened, which of course didn't happen. I told them that the floors had to be repaired and the subcontractor refused. Chris told me that I'm the most difficult client he's ever worked with, I'm driving him and the subcontractors crazy, he can't stand listening to me complain anymore (he was literally shaking his hands over his ears while saying that), I don't know "when to shut up," and he's not going to finish the job. Chris then said he would only charge me for the replaced floors and would reimburse the rest. At first, he said he would charge me $700 and reimburse the rest of my deposit. Keep in mind, that's an arbitrary number because CMC Floors did not provide an itemized receipt for the services, so I don't know how much the wood floors cost. Not even 5 minutes later, he called me to increase the amount to $1000! When I argued his sudden price change, he said, "If you don't like it, take me to court." I now have to find a new company and have them repair the damage caused by CMC Floors and their subcontractors. Chris was condescending, rude, and by far the most unprofessional business owner I've ever worked with. Best of luck to you if you choose to use this company for your flooring needs. **Update... I found a new flooring company and they fixed all the damage caused by CMC Flooring. But they also informed me of another major defect caused by CMC Flooring. See the new attached photo. After CMC Flooring stained the floors, the new wood and old wood looked significantly different. When I asked about the difference in color, Chris told me it was because they were staining over new and old wood. Truth? It's because they installed the wrong wood! The new flooring company confirmed this by looking at leftover wood I had from the CMC job. My original hardwood floors are red oak, but CMC Flooring installed white oak! It's clear in the photo. My new company repaired the damage by doing a technique to help soak in the stain evenly, but I shouldn't have needed this extra step to repair more damage caused by CMC Flooring. read more

What an excellent family owned company. Professional, knowledgeable and courteous. They installed laminate for us. Replaced and refinished our hardwoods and layed new carpet on our staircase. Talk about a trifecta! Each job was completed on time and with excellence in the trade. CMC communicated with us each step of the way and the craftsmanship is flawless. As a women I felt safe with all the workers and left them alone in my home. You can't find honest and trustworthy people much these days and this company has it! This flooring company goes above and beyond. The first time I wanted a vinyl floor, I went to see Chris and Geri and told them about a floor that I found that I loved. After searching their store, I found they didn't carry it. Chris actually went to the store where I found it, (it was actually their flooring) and he found out the maker and ordered for me. Second time again, they did not carry floor that I fell in love with so he again found out who manufacturer was and ordered it for me. I am beyond happy with CMC Flooring! I ordered runners for 2 sets of stairs, 2 hallway runners and vinyl rugs for my kitchen and dining room table. The stairs and runners were installed beautifully and look great. I had a small problem with one of the runners and the owner took care of it immediately and replaced it. The vinyl rugs I ordered, custom for my kitchen, are so practical yet pretty and unique. I have a large family and the messes will now be contained and cleaned easily! The staff could not be nicer and were very helpful in my decision making. I will definitely be back and highly recommend. read more
