I had carpet installed about 12 years ago and recently needed it replaced. The new carpet itself is what I wanted and the installation quality seems solid, that's the only reason I'm giving three stars instead of one. Unfortunately, the installer left my home in a shocking state. I was in a meeting when they finished, so I only gave a quick glance and thought everything looked fine. Later, when I inspected more closely, I was stunned by the mess left behind. It was unacceptable and very disappointing to have to clean up after a professional installation. We had carpet replaced and vinyl plank flooring put in a few years ago. I'm only writing this review now because every time I walk on my carpet or see the gaps in the floor I'm reminded of what a terrible job installers did. I hate leaving bad reviews, and always give companies a chance to rectify. First of all, my house is old, so the upstairs had leveling under the old carpet. The installers , who spoke zero English by the way, threw out the leveling planks and now I have holes in my floor under the new carpet. Every time I walk up there I step into a ditch. We had the rep come out to see but nothing was ever done about it. About a year or two after, we decided quite stupidly, to use them again for the vinyl floor. They did an ok job in most of the rooms except when you look at the edges by the walls. Huge gaps that don't butt up to the walls so my floors move and space out. Plus it looks sloppy. The trim they put around corners of wall doesn't stay nailed in, so everyday I have to push them back in. The other issue we had after installation was ink coming off the vinyl. It looked like dirt all over our feet and no matter how much I washed or scrubbed the floors it wouldn't stop. The company sent a woman to test the floors. We had a new puppy at the time who had a little accident. I sprayed a paper towel with the puppy urine cleaner and proceeded to wipe up the small piddle. Well wouldn't you know, the woman who was there to take a sample of the floor lied in her report and said we didn't clean up the urine with nothing but a dry paper towel! Now I'm a total clean freak and would NEVER leave dog urine on my floors! So this lie voided anything being done to rectify the situation. Thankfully, with no help from them, the ink seemed to stop coming up off the floor after a few more washes. However, the floors constantly show streaks and footprints no matter how much you wash them, especially after using their recommended floor cleaner. It leaves a yucky film. Now I'm looking at selling my house. I can't sell it with holes in the upstairs floor under the carpet. I'll have to get new carpet put in and spend more money. Oh, and the 6k carpet I bought is so cheap and is fraying all on the stairs. Mind you 6 k to carpet 3 small bedrooms, a 3 foot by 3 foot hallway and one flight of stairs. Another 6 k to do my downstairs in vinyl plank. My house is only 1200 square feet . I also recently needed a vinyl plank replaced in my kitchen due to a chip from dropping a pot. They charged me for an entire box of flooring and ended up replacing a quarter of my kitchen floor. All for one plank. Then they did it wrong and left a gap in between planks, and had to come back to fix it. That took an additional few weeks, I'll never use them again. read more

I do not recommend working with this company. Definitely not "smart" in any way except the sales pitch. The salesperson will be nice during the visit and tell you everything will be done correctly. I stressed how important it is that they vacuum after existing floor removal. The salesperson agreed and assured me that the floor will be vacuumed. However, SmartCarpet subcontracts with installers who have absolutely no clue what the job is until they arrive at your house. Nada. They also barely speak English so communication is not their forte. Because Smartcarpet did not communicate with the installers, what you had discussed is now moot. DUST debris, OSHA no mask, no ventilation, no discussion of what will be done. Uneven installation. Floor wasn't leveled evenly, so whenever I walk, I can feel the gaps in between different parts of the floor. There is a sound that accompanies the steps for places where the gap is large enough. What a joke. The installers were not careful either. They dented and chipped my newly and professionally painted walls. Will need to rip out the floors in order to do it correctly. read more

Bill, the salesman came to our house with many choices to select from as well as good suggestions. Price is fair for sure. We signed up and received a call the same day to set up installation. The date was only 2 weeks after. Received a call that morning to advise we were first on the list. Their installers were professional and efficient. Our job of 2 flights of stairs and a master bedroom was a little over 3 hours. They assisted in moving some pieces of larger furniture including the bed. This company is horrible. They sub-contract their jobs and the guys they sent did horrible work. They keep saying they will fix it but they have sent three different crews after the work was done who just take pictures and either say they will talk to a manager or say there is nothing they can do because the concrete floor wasn't level. The salesperson told us they were going to level the existing floor before putting down the laminate. Now they are saying the stuff they use doesn't level everything. It looks really crappy and we purchased the most expensive option in laminate floors. Adam was so helpful in helping us pick the right color for our living room/dining room with the existing furniture we had in there. He took the time to understand all of our needs and to get us a estimate that was right on point. We also have a starlift that needed to be removed. Working with scheduling to coordinate the perfect time to make sure my mom didn't have to go more than 2 days without the starlift. Very friendly and flexible to what we needed. I tore out my own carpet, woke up early on install day to move everything out the the rooms where the carpet was going. Had the floor prepped and cleaned. They show up with the wrong carpet!!! It wasn't even close!! The "office" said they would have to order it and it wanted to schedule it 10 days later. I asked for a discount but they refused. They knew I had to have it to match my existing carpet. They didn't offer anything to fix their mistake. Cancelled order! What ever happened to customer service? If I made a mistake, I'd sure do everything to make sure the customer was happy. They didn't even make an effort. Very easy to do with. They came to my house and helped me to pick out the carpets I wanted. Did the measurements and told me precisely how much it would cost. Then, I was able to get interest-free financing to go along with the good deal. Finally, the installers came and did a 1st class installation while i was able to go out grocery shopping and it was done by the time I got back. Worst experience ever. The installers were Mexican who barely spoke English. The cove base in kitchen was not completed. They tried to install the vinyl without going under appliances until I caught them. Moulding in kitchen did not match floor. Floor by basement stairs not completed until I caught it. They used quarter round moulding under doors and pieced it together instead of moulding that would match floor. When called back to make corrections they did not have materials. It's all about Customer Service and return customers, and we found no satisfaction. Read for details. First purchase/install last year went smooth as silk. Called back for more purchase/install this year - considerably more carpets. Sales rep was great, came to house with samples, gave us good price, promised us first install for day with crew of four, due to size of order. We received install notification no earlier than the day of install at 9am that day, advising us they'd arrive between noon and 2pm. Crew of two arrived and started work at 3pm, worked thru 9pm, leaving without cleaning up walkway/driveway of rug debris and carpet tacks. Customer Service was of no help and insisted this was acceptable. Seems Customer Service feels it is acceptable for the paying customer to be inconvenienced. There is no Customer Service here. We did not find the Smart in Smart Carpet. No consistency in install! read more

Not really sure about these two stars. I'm stuck between one and two but will err on the side of the business. The good- the ordering process was really smooth. The sales rep came and did the requisite measuring and gave the obligatory sales pitch. What I liked was that he took the time to understand what we needed and why. We needed basically a waterproof bathroom floor for my disabled little one that likes to splash in the tub. I am also a disabled Vet and need something that I won't slip on getting out of theHe suggested a new product that would meet our needs. It is a small bathroom and the material and install were reasonably priced. The installers came on the agreed upon date with the correct material and installed the flooring in an acceptable amount of time. I had taken the vanity out for them so they pulled the toilet as part their job for a little additional fee. The bad- with the bathroom door open the job looks beautiful. But when you close the door it's obvious that the flooring was installed crooked. It is off by about two inches over a 7 foot span so it is REALLY obvious. I didn't notice it until the installers left. They were anxious to go to their next job and I was anxious to get them out of the way. I called customer service to let them know about the install error. It took a few called to get the install guy to come back out. He balked about my concerns and said it's my house that's crooked not his work. He agreed to replace the flooring, only his first offer was for some leftovers of a different product that he had in his truck. I mentioned my son splashing to him and he called and got authorization to replace the floor with new material. I called three times to schedule the replacement.!i was told different things every time. I called a last time to schedule and they said they'd get back to me. Been two months and I'm still waiting. Need to do my kitchen as well. I'm glad I waited. Hopefully the next company can give me a deal on my bathroom floor as well. The owner now indicates that they attempted to contact me in June and July. Funny, I keep every email and voicemail for everything. I haven't gotten responses from them. read more

I have had smart carpet in my home and have purchased many rooms of carpet and was always satisfied except for this last time. The carpet I purchased in June was supposed to be a great grade of carpet but it is now November and it looks horrible. I vacuum with my new vacuum, that I purchased in June, every day. I had complained to the salesman that came in August when I purchased a new bedroom carpet and he was going to investigate why it was wearing so bad but I never heard from them again after they installed the bedroom. I am very dissatisfied with this living room and dining room carpet and no one cares. I have spent thousands with Smart Carpet and it makes me feel that I made a bad choice choosing them again. read more
