My wife and I have both been longtime concealed carry permit holders in Colorado, Utah, and Florida. Somewhere along the way, we also became NRA instructors, ran a tactical training company, and even earned titles as competitive Cowboy Action shooters. So, needless to say, we have been around the block a time or two when it comes to concealed carry, firearms training, and instruction from both sides of the classroom. With that said, let me be clear: you will not be disappointed with the concealed carry class at Peacemakers. Brad is a straight shooter, and I can honestly say I have never experienced a concealed carry class like this one--in a very good way. Most concealed carry classes are built almost entirely around the brand-new shooter. They often move at a painfully slow pace: "This is a gun. This is the front of the gun. This is the rear of the gun." Brad does not waste mindless hours on unnecessary minutiae. He teaches what matters, keeps the class moving, and focuses on the information students actually need. Another thing I noticed right away was the complete lack of bravado. In the firearms world, many instructors teach to tell you how great they are, how much they know, and how they basically invented gunpowder. That is not what you get here. Brad teaches with humility. He is confident, knowledgeable, and direct, yet there is no ego in the room. That alone is a rare find in the gun world. Too many instructors use their students as a stage to show off. Brad does not do that. His focus is on teaching, not on performing. I also found Peacemakers' approach to the concealed carry class refreshing and, honestly, a bit novel. Brad's teaching style kept the class grounded and left little room for the usual "know-it-all" behavior that sometimes shows up in firearms courses. He controlled the room well, kept the material on point, and ensured the focus stayed where it belonged. The range portion, in my opinion, was brilliant. The use of 50 rounds was efficient, precise, and well thought out. It moved like a military operation, which I greatly appreciated. I have seen too many classes take a simple 30-round qualification and drag it out until it feels like hot pokers in the eyes. That was not the case here. All in all, this is a good class, taught the right way by the right kind of instructor. If you need to get your concealed carry permit, Peacemakers is the place. It is worth the drive, and you will not be disappointed. Great job, Peacemakers. Keep Up the Fire.

On yesterday, 7/31/19 around 6:30 pm, my fiance and I went to Dunham Sports in the Lansing Mall. I am a handgun owner and I wanted to look at a different caliber of one of the guns that I already own. Prior to my trip to the mall, I had just attended a job interview in downtown Lansing. For the record, I am a semi-retired nuclear engineer with over 26 years of work experience. I am of african american descent. I have held a government-issued secret security clearance for some of the work that I have overseen. I was impeccably dressed in a business suit and tie. My fiance and I decided to visit the Lansing Mall because we had a little time to kill before returning home. I approached the gun counter salesman and asked to see a handgun from the glass case. The salesman, who said his name was Austin, asked my for my driver's license. I handed it to him. He then asked if my current address matched the address on my license. I said no since I had moved recently. The salesman then apologized and said that he could not allow me to see any guns in the case since my current address didn't match my driver's license. I said that this seemed irregular since I have purchased and owned a few handguns. I asked my fiance to provide her license so that I could look at the gun. Again, the salesman apologized and said that I could not see the handgun since I had originally expressed interest in seeing the gun. Incredulous, I asked for the name and contact information for the District Manager responsible for the Lansing store. On my way out of the store, the salesman gave me a piece of paper with a name and phone number on it but cautioned me that the District Manager would be out of the office on vacation for a week or two. While shopping at other stores in the mall, I called the number the salesman had given me. Someone from the Midland, MI store answered. I asked to speak to a store manager and told him what had just happened. I asked if it was normal store policy not to allow a customer to even see a handgun unless their current address matched their driver license. He said that that was definitely NOT corporate policy. I returned to Dunham's Sports in the mall and asked to speak with the store manager. I told him what happened earlier and he agreed that Austin had followed store policy. I told him that I would be contacting the Dunham's Sports Corporate Office. Saying I am disappointed in the total lack of customer service and professionalism provided by the Dunham Sports sales people and store management at the Lansing Mall location would be a MAJOR UNDERSTATEMENT. Update: As of 8/1/19 at 11:00, I called and left a voicemail with Will, the district manager for the Lansing Mall store, asking him to give me a call back. I will update my review as soon as he or someone from the corporate office calls me back.

He was excellent with spending the time to sight in the new red dot he recommended. I had purchased another rifle from a gun store that said the Bushnell scope would be "sighted in". Well, they must have hired a deer to do it. Wouldn't even hit the target. Chris made several necessary adjustments. That deer will not be happy. As a result of our time together, I am completely comfortable using the rifle we focused on. To keep some of the lesson top of mind, I did some filming. Chris is extremely patient and caring. No pressure and when I missed something we had previously worked on, he was great. With all of his years of experience in the military, SWAT teams, and police departments, serving and training, he definitely knows what he is doing. I was told that the owner doesn't allow anyone to shoot class 3 weapons without presenting their tax forms to staff (I brought a legal silencer and SBR). I was also told that this is for my own protection because I don't know the rules/regulations. Myself and the gun community don't appreciate this overreach. While I understand that a private business can make their own rules within reason, treating customers like they are criminal or incompetent isn't the way to keep business. I don't need protection from you, I'm fully aware of the rules, and the fact that you don't have the right as an FFL to demand my private tax documents. If you are in the class 3 community - steer clear of this range. They are playing ATF Agent. I'll take my business to other ranges that don't trample my freedoms.
