Gayle and I took our last Toronto cab from the Hilton to Union Station to catch our VIA Canadian guy. Our cabbie was great as he was pleasant to us at the same time he was bluntly and humorously opining about how some drivers who preferred airport runs were "cheating" the system. I didn't catch all the logic, but was thinking the whole time that a guy with this personality would be great in NYC. It was a short ride and we gave him cash, including a nice tip. Terrible service. Booked a wheel chair accessible cab from Providence Healthcare to St Michael's Hospital for my sister 3 days in advance. Pick up was 10am. After a dozen automated calls from Co-op Cabs saying they are trying to find a driver it was now 11:15 and I called other special needs cabs in the city and was told no one would be there earlier than at least an hour and maybe keep what I had booked. Finally, frustrated we called Beck Taxi and they arrived within 15 minutes - she was on her way 1 1/2 hours after her scheduled appointment time. Of couse this caused her to be late for her specialist appointment. Such poor service - I would never recommend this company!! read more

I had a conference in Toronto recently and stayed in Courtyard Marriott at 475 Yonge St., Toronto. On the day that I left, at about 6:30am the front desk helped me to get a cab which was waiting outside of the hotel for business. Everything was fine with the cab driver when the staff member in Courtyard Marriott asked him to drive me to the airport. We did not talk much on the way to the airport. But when the airport is approaching, I asked him how much he charges for the trip, he told me $80 Canadian dollars and cash only which made me in panic since I did not carry so much cash for business trip. I told him that the trip cost $70 from the airport to the hotel on the day that I came to Toronto. Also, I never faced the situation to only pay cash for taxies since all taxi companies accept credit cards. By then, he became very rude. After a few arguments, I felt that I had to check how much cash that I have and found $60 Canadian dollars in my purse. By now, he told me to pay $60 Canadian dollars plus $20 US dollars. After checking on internet, I showed him that the exchange rate between USD and CAD is 1:1.344 hence $20 Canadian dollar should be abut $14.9 USD but he argued using rude words and I paid $16 USD in the end. He did provide me a receipt but it's impossible to tell his name. I took a picture of the car using cell phone. It shows Cab number A1132. Apparently, this cab driver from CO-OP Cabs had no professionalism when working, is rude to customers, and only take cash for no records. read more

I came across this cab when leaving the Eaton Centre. The driver, Ahmed, was very nice and quickly took us to our destination. Unfortunately, he did not know where the specific shops were located in Yorkville. Even though he did not know where the shops were, he did take me to Yorkville pretty fast, which was good! Throughout the ride, Ahmed, provided me with information about Toronto. He even told me to check out the Yorkdake Shopping Centre as he said it was nice! The ride seemed a bit more expensive than some of the other cab companies in Toronto. However, I did like how they had a credit card machine available! I called to make an arrangements for a wheelchair accessible taxi for my dad. 3 days prior and was given a price for to and from trips. On the pick up day, the driver arrived and demanded almost twice the agreed price. The company was called and they basically said take it or leave it and left a phone number to call if I wanted to launch a complain and won't move on the new price even I told them to listen to the call that I made for the reservations with reference numbers. We had no choice as our schedule was tight. I called the number given to launch a complain. I was told that the operator that took the call happened to be off (conveniently) until the following week and they will call me back. 3 weeks later, not a beep! I would not waste any more time for this and also would never use this company ever again! read more

My friend ordered a taxi for me on the 'auto' telephone system at 9:30 am on Sunday (nice quiet day, with little traffic) December 4th and understood a taxi was 'on its way'. I waited for the taxi at the curbside for 45 minutes, calling Co-Op three times & being assured each time the taxi was 'on its way'. When a taxi finally arrived at 10:15 am I told the driver he's too late; he replied it wasn't his fault as he got the call while at the airport - it was Co-op's fault. Dispatch mismanaged, both myself & the driver were the victims. I had to be at Union Station to take a bus to Sudbury, leaving at 10:30 am, and there is only one bus a day. As I'd missed that bus I had to wait 3 hours for my friend to return home as I had given him his keys back. Then I had to re-book my Sudbury bus for the following day. The bottom line is DO NOT DEPEND ON CO-OP TAXI SERVICE! They will not come on time & get you to your destination on time. They send taxis when the feel like it, disregarding the customer's needs. read more

Don't you hate when you use absolute language like 'never' and then you are forced to swallow your pride and change that statement to sometimes? After a less than favourable date on a super dreary evening, I was ready to go home and the Bathurst Streetcar was of course nowhere to be found. Co-op was the first available cab so without hesitating I got in an asked if they took debit. The guy said yes but about 10 mins into the ride suggested we stop by a bank machine instead because sometimes the machines don't work at night. (once again Co-op you guys are morons!) I didn't really object but was surprised when he missed the BMO i requested and kept the meeter running both while he attempted a U-turn to go back and while I took out the cash (after all the bank machine idea wasn't mine...) I didn't want to care about this at first but then the driver yelled out Chinese are stupid so I asked him to say the things he said again. He then said all Chinese are stupid and I am a Chinese so I am stupid. I asked him to stay to clarify what he just said and he just drove away. Luckily I got help from other pedestrians to help me stop the drive to take a pic on the license plate and cab number. Disappointed! Driver knew where I was going and tried to blame his gps for taking him on the highway instead of an easier and faster route. He knew he would have to turn around and knew there was traffic in order to get a bigger fare. He not only lied to me and my boyfriend and tried to make me pay for his error but it was obvious he was scamming me by pretending he didnt know that the highway would be longer and tried to trick me and I even questioned why he was Turing and getting on the highway. Then when we tried to get a refund for him going out of his way, his superior yelled also at my boyfriend and accused him of holding them 'hostage' .... such scam artists and they get away hoping you stay quiet and pay their 'mistake' .... they know Toronto and know the easier routes so don't let cabs fool you! I felt so angry that he tried to scam me of my money. When my bf was calling head office he wanted me to pay up so fast because he knew what he was doing and wanted to leave and even said I have more fares waiting so it was obvious with the way he was acting. It is the worst cab company in Toronto. I stopped a cab at 7 am on the street working for co-op cab company. The taxi driver asked me where I am from and I didn't answer. Then he insulted me, showted at me and drove like a crazy. He called me stuiped and he didn't want to drive me to my home! He showted that he wants his money and I have to go out of his cab. I called 911 the police. We waited for an hour for the police to come. Then the police forced me to pay the taxi charge plus the time we waited for the police! So instead of paying $7, I paid $40 and the police didn't penalize the driver for his bad behavior! read more

In the age of Uber I like to support my local taxi business. But my Saturday experience made me wonder why. Despite having ordered the taxi 2 hours prior it showed up 10 minutes late and only after a second call. The driver was speeding the entire way, tried to squeeze by other cars at traffic lights, was talking on the phone the entire way, it was unbearably hot and he had an item in the trunk which kept rolling around and hit us in the back. With Uber's competition Coop taxis must be doing extremely well as it appears they do not really care. read more

ZERO STARS. A while back a friend and I attended a concert at the Sound Academy. We decided to duck out a bit early to try to grab a cab before the rush. As we were walking we had SIX Co-op cabs pull over and ask where we were heading. When we said East York, every single one of them said "sorry - I'm picking up a fare" and kept driving. For the record, the sound academy is pretty off-the-beaten-path and we were two females alone at 1am. I called the customer service line TWICE and left messages to call me back and never had a return call. I'm under the impression that arbitrarily refusing fare is illegal. The fact that they couldn't be bothered to phone me back tells me that as a company, they are well aware of and condone this behavior from their drivers. I will never, ever, EVER take a Co-op cab again and I share this story frequently. From reading the other reviews it seems to be a common issue. read more

This cab company is a literal shit show. I called a cab to get to the airport about 45 minutes ago before I got uber. No driver showed up, and every time I called they told me to wait 5 minutes. Not only did I freeze my ass off outside in the cold, the driver never showed up. I missed my flight because of this, and had to pay $75 to change my flight. Today while leaving the ACC i approached a Coop cab driver for a ride home. He asked where i was going and I told him my destination (east york). He told me it would be a $40 flat rate. I told him that the ride isn't that much and I would pay whatever the meter said. He refused to take me or turn on the meter. I told him that I know the ride is at least $20, probably closer to $30. He still refused. I think this behaviour is disgraceful and against the city's bylaws. This is why people opt for Uber. I've always been loyal to cabs. Beck is my primary cab company. After the unfortunate incident that happened with the girl trying to get a ride home and was refused because her fare was not deemed worth it by the driver, this kind of behaviour should not be tolerated by Management . i will never approach a coop driver for a ride again. I would rather walk. I ended up getting a cab from another cab company and my fare ended up being $35, and then my friend took the cab to her residence which would have been at least another $30. I hope this issue is addressed by the company because this kind of greedy attitude turns off consumers in a big way. read more

Cab 1506 cut off two drivers on College Street on July 23, 2012 and almost took out a cyclist as passengers watched in horror. The driver was completely unapologetic and mouthy to other drivers who he almost hit. Cab company said they will tell him about the complaints instead of getting him off the road immediately!!! read more

The best part about being in a big city is that there always seems to be a cab near you when you want one... memorize a cab phone number... take your cell phone and call when your legs give out... carpe diam.. Missed a couple of Kodak-Fuji-Ilford -? moments today... 4 men with hard hats near a construction site sitting in discarded club chairs... looking comfy.. This company driver swapped our debit card then stole our PIN using a skimmer machine, handed back a fake credit card, then used ours and took almost $2000 from our bank accts. I have since found another person the same company did this to. Police and banks investigating. BEWARE! read more

We grabbed this cab just after exiting a party. He had perfect timing. Was super friendly and chatted us the whole way home (~10 min). Wish I had taken his name since most reviews for this place are not good. I think the business model results in various experiences and levels of satisfaction. I caught a cab from YYZ to downtown (about $70 btw) and was very happy. Took a number and he arranged for a colleague to drive me back to the airport the next day. Courteous and on time. I would use the company again, but maybe only these two drivers. read more

Had a horrible experience today with the driver of cab 1814. He kept trying to force his way over into our lane, to the point of nearly, intentionally hitting us, all while screaming profanities. To make matters worse, his doing so was preventing other vehicles, ours included, from pulling to the right for emergency services vehicles trying to get past. i would never set foot in a Coop taxi. i called to complain thursday sept. 19th. and left a message and my email. still no one has gotten back to me. i was a witness to one of their drivers who was driving through a leaside mall parking lot.....seemingly oblivious to anyone. but particularly to us - who he was heading right for. he was not following the road - just cutting through as he approached he just kept driving - we leaned on the horn and he blatantly turned his head the other way and kept on driving. was he on something ....who knows! i've never witnessed such behaviour in my life. would i put myself in his cab...never. read more

I have not had good service between Black Diamond, Beck and now Co-op. I had been trying to stick with coop with limited success but this latest experience has me moving on. I called the night before to book a ride for Sunday morning. The person specifically asked which airport which I clarified was Pearson. 6:00am arrived and no taxi. I called and waited on hold about 7 minutes. They finally said one was on the way. Called back a couple minutes later knowing I would have to wait on hold. Told them again there was no taxi. Dispatch guy was swearing - he thought he had me on hold. Then made some lame excuse that the driver had to get a credit card machine. Taxi finally arrived 21 minutes late. Not good when trying to catch a flight. Driver almost headed south to the island airport but I told him I was supposed to go to Pearson. He showed me in his screen how he was instructed to take me to the island airport. Turns out their computers could not adjust to the daylight savings time change. This is why their phones were jammed on a Sunday morning. The driver said a lot of customers were upset. You would think they would have figured out this daylight savings thing by now. Feel sorry for the driver. Nice guy and apologized but was not his fault. Unfortunately the company is turning customers away which is going to hurt the good drivers. I am astounded by this crap service. The taxi business is SO competitive and now with Uber, their entire existence is under threat. With all this going on, how could they give crap service? I tried to log a call his the company, and after leaving a message the supervisor disappointingly did not return my call.
