had to use a taxi for two one way trips back in the summer time, sadly this was because there was no bus service to where I needed to go (portlands on a sunday) both drivers that I had were very chatty but professional throughout the whole driving experience, the cars were really clean and kept well. my complaints were that because I was a solo passenger I got into the back seat and they had the front passenger seat allllllllll the way to the back resulting in me smashing my knees going in and going out of the vehicle. in a jam I would use them again, but I would probably pick alternative means in the future. City Taxi Toronto has a picture of "small moves" on their website. I phoned on July 14 saying I have 15 boxes to be moved from one building to another which are only 1 km apart. I was quoted a flat rate of $30 that includes loading and unloading the boxes door to door. When asked if I have to order ahead of time, he said to call when I'm ready. On July 18 I phoned for a mini van at 3:07 am. The agent said it would be 15-20 minutes. I had 13 medium size boxes and 4 bags. I moved all the boxes and bags down to the ground floor by the side door. Each time I called I was told they're still trying then I was told I'd have better luck after 6 am when drivers begin work. Why didn't they tell me that at the beginning? After waiting 4 hours finally they found a mini van. The driver showed up but balked at the boxes saying it's $40 for him to move them. I agreed. What else could I do? The boxes were not heavy. I'm 5 ft and 71 yrs old with a neck injury. If I could move them, how heavy could they be? The driver told me to move the bags myself. First he went the wrong way going to St. Joseph Hospital. All the way to the other building he complained. He showed me a $50 bill saying that's what the previous customer paid him for a drop off at St. Joseph Hospital. I said I'd file a complaint and he called City Taxi and complained that he had to move 20 boxes! When we arrived at the destination I gave him a $10 tip because I was worried that he wouldn't unload. The driver essentially made a $20 tip on a $30 ride. First, it's false advertising by City Taxi of doing "small moves", then it's a scam when I had no option but to agree to whatever demands the driver made. What was I to do with all my belongings? City Taxi in Toronto has to be the most unprofessional taxi service I have ever experienced -- and I travel this way a lot. It was a very dirty cab that had this grungy film on the windows. First off, the radio communication was very very loud ( well beyond what someone would need -- unless they have a disability, then I apologize -- and it was nothing just agitated yelling at one another. He got lost and my passenger had to walk up the road to the next intersection to flag him down). He never acknowledged the mistake or apologized). Another issue -- and a huge safety issue -- was that our driver (taxi #1709) did not have a working seat belt on the passaged seat behind our driver). I was not allowed to sit in the front seat where I would have been safe as it was against, "their policy" (I was rudely brushed off when asked). He replied that he would just, "drive slow" as a solution. I managed to figure out the tangle of seatbelts to squeeze myself into my fellow traveller so I could use the middle buckle (which was not suggested to me, I figured it out myself) Over all, it was a disaster! read more

Dangerous taxi driver who almost hit me fatally this morning Around 9:35 am this morning, May 7, 2025, I was halfway crossing the west side Yorkgate Mall entrance/exit intersection with pedestrian green lights on, a black City Taxi cab licence plate # CCXA 153 driven by a black 50ish male sped across no more than 1 foot from me & quickly turned south on Jane street. No braking, no slowing down, driver seemed only watching out for cars travelling north to south on Jane street, not people walking . I saw the same taxi, same male driver around 11:55 am same date picking up a passenger outside the Yorkgate Mall north entrance. I wrote down the taxi licence # 3305 & the make & model of this City Taxi cab---a 4-door Toyota Camry. I believe this driver picks up passengers regularly at Yorkgate Mall and/or the nearby Jane/Finch Mall. I was too lucky to be still alive writing this because I was looking while this dangerous driver did not this morning. I called the police right after the near hit & run on me at 9:40am & do not feel that they care at all! read more

I called for a Taxi from North York General Hospital on June 8th at approximately 3 AM to take me home after having spent the whole night in treatment at the hospital. I phoned for a taxi at the courtesy phone at the Emergency Entrance and I chose Crown Taxi. After waiting for more than 20 minutes I phoned back and the operator told me he would send me an orange Beck Taxi instead - so I asked him if they were the same - and he confirmed that yes they were in fact one and the same company. When the Beck Taxi arrived (within ten minutes) and I got on, I was struck by the smell of stale cigarette fumes that permeated the whole taxi. I said nothing as I was tired and wanted to get home. When the driver asked me to where I was going and how I was paying (cash) he could not spell the name of the street to his GPS so I had to do it for him. Then he demanded that I pay a deposit before he would drive. I told him that I never heard of such a thing before - and that I usually pay my taxis after they have taken me to my destination. He started yelling and so I told him what he is doing was against the law and told him to go fly a kite and left. I could still see him shaking his fist at me through the window, even though it was dark. I wonder, is the City of Toronto not responsible for regulating the Taxi Cab industry? I pay hefty taxes to them each year and the least I would expect is to have these kinds of abuses eliminated. read more

The points for this review should be - negative 100 On Tuesday April 5th I ordered a taxi to go to Sunnybrook. Taxi arrived.To say that taxi was dirty is to say nothing.Be the judge yourself. Please.And I am not sure why the drivers are always resilient to take HWY... it's faster and more convenient as to drive through millions of traffic lights, which takes twice the time.I said to driver that his cab is dirty he did not even apologized. Just ignored! Then...On the way back we, my nurse and I, called your services again. The driver that arrived in minivan had all his salon stuffed with his personal belongings: tennis rackets, duffel bags full of something, food. He saw that we were two customers - he started cleaning his salon. Took his sweet time without listening to us that I would not be able to climb up into salon due to my illness. Then finally he got a point and started telling me he had a stool. I said I still can't , so he irritated said I will call another taxi. Yet he continued to put back his personal belongings into salon and tidying it up , seeing me how difficult it is for me to stand aside with my walker! Only when my nurse said: please call taxi immediately, it hard for me to stand - he then dialled the dispatch. Taxi that arrived was the same FILTHY condition as the first one. See the pictures ... then... again Driver took the city streets instead of HWY, arguing with me that it's better. It took us 50 minutes to get back in his dirty cab. I missed the time to take my medicine on time. When I finally got out - my pants were dirty. I will also forward my email to ODSP and to city of Toronto as well as posting on yelpThis must stop! We Torontonians deserve better and dignified services.It's absolutely unexplainable why we should be charged for services that are unsatisfactory to say the least. Do NOT use this company. Driver switched my card with another card in a fake credit card machine. I thought I got my card back but he gave me a different but similar looking card. He scammed me. Used my bank card to withdraw hundreds and hundreds of dollars. City taxi said they can and won't anything to assist since I hailed the cab. They seem to know they have crooked drivers and they were not even concerned what happened. I filed a police report so hopefully they find this person. But watch out never give your card to a driver. Tap your card or hold onto your card at all times. Never let the driver insert it. read more

Today I took City Taxi for a ride of approximately 12 km. The taxi driver was pleasant and helped me with my shopping cart, and the ride was smooth. Later, I called the City taxi again around 3:10 pm to drive to another location (approximately 9 km). This driver lifted the trunk without exiting the car, forcing me to raise my shopping cart and place it inside. He then spent the first 10 minutes talking on the phone in a foreign language (very loudly, as if he had some dispute). I withdrew because I felt uncomfortable. The drive should have been shorter; instead, it took longer. This driver charged me more than the driver before him and informed me that I was the first client to ask him for payment with a debit card. Why? Also, how the POS device is set up irks me. It starts with tips from 15% up. So, if one is dissatisfied with service and wants to avoid arguing with the (already unpleasant) driver, they must give a tip. I know that there is an option to customize tips. But I just wanted to get out of the car as soon as possible. I want to know why I was forced to pay for a shorter ride, $44.63. Almost $10 more than I paid for a longer ride, $35.14. I also suggest City taxi pays more attention to the cleanliness of their taxi vehicles and drivers' manners. So far, I have taken about rides with the company and will not do it again. Out of 10 rides, only half were acceptable. read more

My driver lied to me, yelled at me and blamed me for his mistakes. He didn't have any knowledge of the city. I had booked a pickup for 645 in the morning using the App and the driver arrived about shortly after 640 which was good. I wasn't going that far but he was very friendly and professional. I had asked about Kingsboro asking if City Taxi had absorbed Kingsboro and he had answered that they were one of the same now. Kingsboro really serviced Etobicoke before but now the company was huge with a fleet from both companies combined but my driver knew Etobicoke well. The ride was short (only about 8km away) but it was enjoyable and it was not awkward having a nice conversation with the friendly driver. I know many cabbies and cab companies are getting a bad reputation these days but not all of them are unkind and unprofessional. I know my recent experience was very positive and I will use them again if needed since the app is easy to use. read more

Cars were clean and they came right away every time. Had to use taxi services for about 3 days in Toronto and they came within 5 minutes every time and each time the cars were clean and the drivers knew their way around the city. Most drove a little crazy and reckless but the speed limits in Canada are much higher than the states. Overall not the best but a reliable service read more

If you like being stranded this is the taxi company for you! We called them and told them the exact intersection we were at, and a landmark there to meet us. They said a cab was on the way but gave us no ETA. We waited 20 minutes in the cold and then called them to inquire about where our cab was, and they said THEY HAD NO RECORD OF OUR CALL! I am a 33 year old female and decided to use City Taxi on October 5 2017. I was leaving a bar at around 12:15 am and was a bit intoxicated so my friend put me in a City taxi cab and told the driver the name of condo where I lived but didn't give an exact address. He assured her he knew and drove off. I fell asleep in the back of the cab and woke up in front of my condo at 3:30 am with a meter of $201.50!!!!!!!! This ride normally costs me $20.00!!!! Still intoxicated I paid the bill not realizing that this man took me on a joy ride for almost 3 hours then when he was satisfied with the amount on the meter he found his way to my address. The next day i spoke to the driver and asked him why he did such a thing then he told me "Well I didn't have address and i wanted him to drive me around.'' Are you kidding me! First of all, as a Cab driver, if you don't have a address and the person is incoherent , why are you taking the fare???? Well, that's a easy question to answer, he did it because he knew he could take advantage of the situation. THIS IS WHY I DON'T TAKE CABS ANYMORE!!! I was robbed for $201.50, had a horrible experience and it could have potentially turned out worse with me missing or dead.
