I was returning an item my significant other bought me as he was out of town. I didn't have his card, (as he uses it, duh) and was told I couldn't return my item and there was nothing they could do. Now I'm stuck with an item I do not want, we live in Chicago and driving almost 2hrs for a return is a planned event. We like The North Face and like this location for the deals. We will take our TNF business elsewhere going forward.

One of those places is the Lighthouse Place Premium Outlet Center. I also tend to be a creature of habit regarding clothing purchases, with my current favorites being Lands End, Royal Robbins, Carhartt, and Columbia. For this Under Armour store, I always come in for socks. The price is right and I love the style and feel on my feet and ankles. And who knew that I would pay attention to a pair that was marked "L" and "R". :)

It's closed to the public. Meaning: hallways and bathrooms unavailable. There are still a few…read moreoutside-access-only businesses there. But the days of indoor strolling and window gazing are over. I imagine it will be seeing the wrecking ball in the near future. One of the property owners did a walk through a few weeks ago. It needs a new roof (which would cost about $3 Million). It needs HVAC updates. And everyone knows how outdated the interior is. Bottom line is that you can't dump $5-6 million renovating a building for people to power walk. (Do you have any idea what the liability insurance and utilities cost for a facility that size?) We like the escalator at JCP's and the kiddie rides. There's more for us here than at the Lighthouse Outlets.

A True Star at adidas -- Takeyah Deserves a Promotion!…read more I want to take a moment to recognize Takeyah at the Michigan City adidas store. Her service was absolutely phenomenal. In a time when it's easy to feel like just another customer, she made me feel heard, valued, and supported. Takeyah went above and beyond to help resolve a frustrating situation -- not only was she patient and kind, but she also followed through in a way that restored my confidence in adidas as a brand. This wasn't just good service; this was exceptional leadership. In contrast to some of the poor treatment I experienced at the Aurora location from Josh and Selma (who could truly benefit from training under Takeyah's example), her grace and professionalism stood out even more. She turned a negative into a positive and showed what true customer care looks like. This is the kind of employee who builds lifelong loyalty and reflects the very best of the adidas brand. My son is a Nike person and for the first time I walked in to the Nike store (here at Lighthouse Place). There is a world of difference between these two. I could be a future convert. Adidas at 2 stars and Nike at a solid 4.5 and almost 5 stars. My reviews are based on 1) Service/Employees 2) Selection/Pricing 3) Cleanliness no matter a restaurant or retail store 4) Organization 5) Logistics of sales staff, checkout ease, and what employees do when faced with a problem. This place only did well in cleanliness and sale prices. One large drawback of the Adidas location here at Lighthouse Place is that it's off in a corner of the parking lot and usually easier to stop here by a separate car stop when arriving or leaving and not walking over here from the main mall itself. When I walked in I was greeted promptly as most of the associates were casually hanging out by the register area near the door. And the greeting was weak. More like a Hey, you walked in, rather than a Welcome, thanks for stopping in to see us, is there something specific I can assist you with? They could have cared less that we walked in the door. Ugh. I wear a size 13 or 14 shoe and a XXL in sports shorts or tshirts. There was very little here for me to choose from. Each time I found something I liked I then had to wander to find an associate and wait while the employee wandered to the front to use the computer to see if inventory showed they had one and then wander the store and the back room looking for my size. Often when inventory showed they had one, the end result was they couldn't find it. Really? The store was clean. And display areas on top of racks or shelving was always dust-free and nicely displayed. The prices of the things I did purchase were pretty low. Basic tshirts at $10, shorts and pants at $12. I wasn't able to find any shoes that fit as the 13's I tried were too small and they have no size 14's. I have been able to get a 14 easily at other Adidas locations and when I went to the Nike store in the same mall there were at least 10 different pairs of size 14 shoes. Although I left here with a few items, I still gage my experience as poor.

I also couldn't resist grabbing some of their cookies and brownies -- they looked too good to pass up, and honestly, they made my mouth water just looking at them.
