(If you know, you know.) Our mom needed help to manage her pre-diabetes condition and our dad needed support to understand proper nutrition and balance. Both needed to exercise more regularly yet carefully since they are both in their 80s. The past year has been a journey for my parents...accepting new ideas, establishing different eating and exercise patterns and modifying lifelong habits. We are super proud of them for what they have been able to accomplish because it has not been easy to modify those lifelong ideas, habits and patterns. But they are doing it. None of their health progress could have happened without Sophie's patient and gentle guidance. She speaks English and Mandarin with them and understands our culture, diet and our parents' generation. She respects them but also challenges them. And they listen to her! My parents work with Sophie on being mindful of their food choices, as well as mobility and strength training. She gives my parents the support and inspiration to keep moving and motivation to take care of themselves physically and mentally. Sophie is a gift. We are very grateful to her and how she has impacted our parents' lives in such a positive way.

She is conversational and can talk about almost anything. One conversation, we ended up talking about our feet - and how to cope with bunions. She gave topnotch advice about what type of shoes, sneakers to wear, and about how to stretch your toes to give each toe space to move, and the importance of practicing being barefoot at home. She has had a lot of personal experiences with diets, health, and general well-being, and has a healthy attitude in questioning established norms that actually do not help, but hinder optimal health. She is as knowledgable as she is enjoyable to work with!

RAW AND ORGANIC:…read more One of the toughest things I've written and definitely feeling vulnerable but here it is. Im gonna share something I don't normally talk about and when I do it's more as a joke. I graduated high school at 198lbs and in the 26 years since then I battled with my weight. I learned to "embrace it" rather than fight it. I started buying "Big Dog" shirts, I became a dad and went by "Big Daddy" all as coping mechanisms with the fact that I was overweight. In my "prime" I tipped the scales at 300lbs. I would go to lunch with some buddy's and would joke that I would order the family pack all for myself. I think you get the picture. I completely embraced the life of excess, I ate really well. I drank really well, I smoked cigarettes. I used to joke and say "I drink, I eat, I smoke, and I make a really darn good living." Through it all thankfully not a single cholesterol issue, no diabetes or blood pressure issues. Or so I thought, until earlier this year. Forget what perception social media creates. Earlier this year my life was out of freakin control. I had a serious panic attack and ended up at the doctors. He says to me, "I've been telling you to lose weight, and now here you are with a need to take blood pressure medication". A month later my blood pressure was still high and we had to double up my dosage, and even then it was still high. I needed to do something. I did the obvious, I quit smoking, eliminated drinking, started being a little more consistent with my exercise still not much help. I needed professional help, I have kids, a family, friends still need me, I felt like I was gonna die way too soon if something didn't change. I try to surround myself with good positive influences and I can't thank my good friend Christine Bou Sleiman enough for her help in this journey.

I only kept going to her because first visits with new doctors are so expensive and I was lazy. Fast forward this year she dropped me a few days before my appointment because I didn't want to sign up for the $300 monthly membership. I was her client for 7 years. I felt very discarded and no patient care. She did me the best favor though because there are numerous telehealth doctors now doing bio identical hormones that is substantially cheaper than her sub par expensive care. If you want to pay tooth and nail for so so care then visit Dr Taylor. And expect a new receptionist at least once a year

I had two significant problems while under her care but each time, I had to call multiple times before I received any feedback from her. If I brought up any issue during an appointment, her only suggestion was for me to have the pellets inserted more frequently or to purchase another supplement from her. At my last appointment in September of 2025, I was told that she will begin charging $400 every month for her services, and justifying it by saying it will allow her to provide better patient care. A dedicated doctor would not need to charge a $400 monthly concierge fee to provide excellent patient care. When I first saw her, she was working three days a week; now she's only working two. She is not dedicated to her patients; she is dedicated to making money. There is a card on the desk where patients check out that advertises 10% off her services if you give her a five star review on Yelp. That tells you everything you need to know about her.

Working with Bruno through the '7 Elements of Balance' has been a life-changing experience and a total transformation. In just 13 weeks, I lost 26.3 lbs and saw my BMI drop from 33.4 down to 28.7 (moving from Obese Class 1 to Overweight). While the numbers speak for themselves--including losing 4 inches off my waist--the lifestyle habits are what I value most. I've become a consistent morning runner and I actually enjoy it! I'm much more mindful and aware of what I'm eating, my water intake has improved, and for the first time, I find myself looking forward to eating vegetables. Bruno is a one-of-a-kind coach who works with you one-on-one. He is incredibly flexible, understanding, and encouraging. You can tell he truly loves what he does and cares about his clients looking and being at their best--spiritually, physically, and in all the good things. If you want a coach to help you reach your peak self, Bruno is the person to see!

She is knowledgeable, caring, and truly takes the time to listen and create a personalized plan for your health goals. At the Pasadena Weight Loss Center, they offer a variety of medically supervised services designed to help you improve your overall health and well-being. Unfortunately, I can't leave the positive review I had hoped to write…read more I found this clinic through Instagram and, before signing up, I read the reviews on Yelp. Looking back, I question whether those reviews truly reflect the average patient experience because my experience was very different. The receptionist was always polite, and the trainers seemed knowledgeable and supportive. However, my overall experience with the clinic was disappointing. During my initial consultation, the doctor spent a significant amount of time talking about his own experience using the medication. I received my first tirzepatide injection before any lab work was completed, simply because I was overweight. Once my test results came back, I remained on the same dosage for nearly 10 weeks despite my progress stalling. I lost weight during the first month, gained weight during the second month while still on tirzepatide, and by the third month there wasn't even a weigh in. I was told the previous scale had simply weighed lower, which did not seem like a satisfactory explanation. My lab results showed high insulin resistance, but I was initially told not to worry and was only advised to take supplements. Later, after a dosage increase, the doctor recommended that I start metformin, warning me that my insulin levels were high and that I could easily become diabetic. This confused me because my lab work showed I was neither diabetic nor prediabetic. That inconsistency made me question how carefully my results were being reviewed and whether my treatment plan was truly based on my individual health needs. I also requested additional blood work to rule out other possible causes for my lack of progress. Unfortunately, I was later informed that my blood samples had been lost. I was told this "happens all the time" and that it wasn't the clinic's fault but the delivery service's. While they offered to repeat the tests at no additional charge, hearing that lost lab work is common was concerning. Before enrolling, I explained that I live about an hour away in Pasadena and could not make weekly visits. I was assured this would not be a problem and that I would be able to take my medication home. However, throughout the program the policies seemed to change repeatedly, and I was only allowed to take home two doses at a time, requiring more trips than originally discussed. The clinic also appeared disorganized. I made appointments believing I would be seeing the doctor, only to find out they were not doctor appointments. Communication about scheduling and treatment was inconsistent, and I often felt like I was receiving different information from different staff members. The most disappointing part of my experience has been trying to obtain a refund. I have approximately two and a half months of treatment remaining that I already paid for. After several phone calls, I was repeatedly transferred to the doctor instead of speaking with the office manager about my refund. Unfortunately, the conversation with the doctor was not helpful and did not address the reason for my call. After that conversation, I was assured someone would follow up with me, but no one ever did. When I called the clinic again, I was simply told that they would process a refund for the unused portion of my treatment. Overall, I appreciate the kindness of the receptionist and the trainers, but my experience with the medical care, communication, organization, and customer service has been very disappointing. I hope sharing my experience helps others ask the right questions before making a financial commitment.
