This hospital is a scam! I called letting them know I was traveling but that my dog had a sudden abscess appear on his sternum. I asked if they could look at and treat an abscess. They said yes so I drove right over. The "vet" is incompetent. He barely wanted to touch my dog. He looked at him and said "I don't see an abscess" when there was a softball hanging from my dog's stomach. Picked my 70 pound dog up to show him and he asked in a very condescending tone "what makes you think it's an abscess?" I explained my reasoning and knowledge and they let me know that they will only do a fine needle aspartate+cytology and the results would be back in days. Remember that I'm traveling and will not be anywhere in the area. I asked for a lance and flush because I was concerned the rapid growth will cause a painful rupture. He says no, that they don't "have that capability" and that yeah, it will just rupture probably. Did not tell me the "exam" was an asinine $65. Drove all the way to Fresno. Guess what. It was an abscess from a spider bite. Lanced, flushed, meds in record time. Save yourself the time and money from this place as you will get no actual solutions, even when they tell you on the phone they will. I want my $65 back because they didn't actually do anything. Very nice people, however, animal care dosent seem to be prioritized over money. While waiting a month for a surgery date, I called to verify my care credit payment method, the receptionist was unable to tell me then that they did not accept care credit. I was told I'd receive a call back, and never did. This veterinary office is listed on the care credit businesses, but they don't accept it because they are charged to use it. Approcomitly 600$ estimated for the surgery. To top it off, the only "help" i was offered was to buy the antibiotics without the surgery. Making them money and doing nothing for my pet, Dr. Pudlow even explained to me before that antibiotics wouldnt help until the surgery was done. A month of important time wasted, now to find a vet office that's focused on animal care and not just money. read more

The staff are absolutely amazing. I love Lisa to pieces so this in no way reflects them. My review is regarding the actual Veterinarian who was apparently a fill in but there often. Before bringing home our new pup I decided to go to CG Vet since it's close by. The experience left me frustrated and filled with more questions questions than I had before coming in. .83 cents per second is what we paid for this waste of time appointment. I placed pup on the exam table where she was "examined" by getting a Parvo shot and dewormer (including heartworm) without any interaction with me whatsoever. No questions were asked, no conversation, no communication, nothing. Her spine, ears, joints weren't checked. Pup had hurt her leg the night before so I mentioned it. Vet bent the leg and said "it's fine". Those were the only words he spoke to me. We were in and out in under two minutes. Absolutely unacceptable! I made an apt with a different vet but I'm out $100 for absolutely nothing which really ticks me off. I obviously do not recommend this location. read more

160$ later just to get my cats anal glands expressed!! They charges me 50$ just for a office call visit! And didn't even ask, and charged me for shots that my cat did not need! My first impression was that the place was dirty, fur balls everywhere, mud tracked all thru the entry. That's at 8am... Staff girl didn't acknowledge me, continued her paperwork, then left!!!! When I was taken to the exam room, the table was dirty with suspicious stains, and no chair. Vet looked at the dog sore, didn't do any exam, didn't check his eyes, heart or ears, just recommended surgery. His diagnostic was: it's a sore!!!! Nothing else, referred it all to the biopsy. The guys in his late 60s, and can't do a simple diagnostic???? When I picked up my dog, the vet was on the phone, and wouldn't talk to me, even though I was there 20 minutes over late lunch time. No request for follow up. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I had to come to the decision this week to put my 14 year old cat down who was failing miserably of kidney failure. Though I've had pets growing up my entire life, this was *my* very first pet. And not just a pet, but my best friend. I had no idea what to do or who to go to and dreaded every moment that passed knowing it needed to be done. A neighbor casually mentioned Coarsegold Veterinary (later to find out she'd never been before!). I called that morning and they said they usually schedule these types of things but could take me as a walk-in in the afternoon. I cannot emphasize enough how thoroughly impressed I was by everyone's empathy (not just sympathy, but empathy) towards putting my sweet Sheeba down. I was a crying mess, and everyone there was so supportive of me and helping me through the transition. I waited only a few minutes before my baby and I were back in a room. I did not feel rushed - only loved by the vet techs and doctor who knew how hard this was for anyone. I was told what to expect, listened to, cared for, and they went above and beyond what I would say any vet has ever done before in my past. I 100% recommend choosing Coarsegold Veterinary if having to put a pet down or for any check up or sickness. Coming here was definitely a God-send. This clinic has been a HUGE let down. I try to keep my business local but when they can't get lab results back after a week on a cat who's on deaths door it's very sad. I was there at 830 in the morning, labs were drawn and should have gone out that day and didn't go out till the following day, delaying the results. It's been a week now, cat is barely hanging on, they offer no assistance and are VERY uncaring when I call to ask for the results. Very poor service all the way around. Ok. As my pets have aged I have stopped choosing vets based on "cute" wallpaper, or friendly front desk. I choose them based on how well the vet treats my pets ailments and whether the vet is willing to spend time with me and my pet. Part of figuring out what is wrong is LISTENING to what an owner says when the pet can't speak for themselves. I have been told for years by a vet tech/professional trainer that this was the ONLY vet to see in the area, including Oakhurst and the surrounding area. I didn't listen. I liked the cute office and "friendly" staff of my local vet... Until that Vet treated a bladder infection in my cat with the same antibiotic three times, until that vet accidentally ordered a urinalysis instead of a culture after we took her off of antibiotics for 5 days to get the culture, prolonging her pain and discomfort. I went to the coarsegold veterinary hospital and was amazed by how the vet and staff asked all kinds of questions when assessing my cat. I was also blown away when the vet spent 15 minutes assessing her, her kidney health, her overall health, etc. Long story long...the vet CURED a chronic bladder infection with an injection and a different antibiotic and my cat for the first time in MONTHS was no longer uncomfortable and peeing outside the box. Plus, the vet "accidentally" only put half rate for the initial exam on my bill to be nice, but I paid full price anyway. And it was STILL far less expensive than visits to other local vets!!! Which always seemed to require a costly follow-up visit or going back for unresolved problems. Thank you for saving my cat. Give these guys a try!! They even have Saturday hours without ridiculous "emergency" hours fees or the cost of a trip to Fresno! read more

Sigh. While this may be a wonderful place for Dogs, in my experience today with my cat I am left with several emotions. My cat is a loving adult Main Coon. He has been to several vets as he is a rescue. NEVER in the 7 years we've had him did I see him explode like he did today. The doctor saw his ears back 'and knew he would be upset'. No Doctor Pludow, he was traumatized. You backed off, slammed the shot and got the hell out of the room leaving me and my cat upset, pissed but thankful as we we NOT coming back. Shread our files. You should say your a dog vet and leave cats out of it. I'm still shaking as Lynyrd is. As I said above, He has NEVER acted this way at a vet. You lost a client and didn't even apologize. I had the best experience ever .... staff was amazing nice courteous helpful ideas for our new puppy (we had lots of questions). Dr Pludow was over and beyond caring and knowledgable. i'm in the medical field (not that I mentioned it) so I'm all about the best care for my pets, this is the only place we will be going. read more

This review is reflective of NOW, not the past. I have taken several of my geriatric animals here for the past 4+ years and overall care was really good with Dr Pludow. unfortunately since Dr Pludow retired I can no longer get consistent care for my pets. The clinic no longer allows pet owners to see or even speak with a licensed veterinarian (not even on the phone). They claim it is due to COVID restrictions yet no masks are required in the clinic and a phone discussion with a vet poses no risk. I have never before gone to a clinic where a discussion with the vet is not permitted. There is a different vet on service every time I go and no continuity of care and no discussion about treatment prior to implementation. That may be fine for young healthy pets who just need shots but this is not a good model for geriatric animals with complicated medical needs. In addition, prices have almost doubled in the past 6 month, so the cost effectiveness has vanished. The front desk staff is really nice and so are the techs, but I have moved my pets elsewhere. read more

Dr. Pludow is wonderful with his animal patients. I appreciate how gentle but thorough he is. His staff members are also very sweet and informative. I called at 8:10 AM to see if they could squeeze me in as I had a very sick kitty, and they had me in by 8:30. Kitty is home now and he's doing much, much better.
