Nightmare. The owner of this company tried to gaslight me into staying in a house infested with…read moreants. Pull up a chair. It's... it's actually shocking how unprofessional this woman was. We rented a $230/night house (called HAVEN) for a family birthday getaway. The day after we checked in, we discovered an infestation of ants all over the kitchen and in the living room - they were in the kitchen cupboards, on the counter, all over the floor (see pics). It was really disgusting. I cleaned up hundreds of ants and they were still everywhere. I felt like I had ants all over my body. I was in distress. This is not the $230/night deluxe experience I had envisioned. I sent photos to this management company and called them immediately. The first person I spoke to said that they were MADE AWARE THE HOUSE HAD ANTS, a week ago - but thought they had fixed the problem. She offered to send a maintenance person to check things out, but said the options would be to spray chemicals (I had my dog there, and wouldn't allow this), or to use a sugar wash, which, she explained, would make the problem worse before it got better. Oh, super. I told her that I was really uncomfortable and didn't know what to do. Neither of these options would work and I didn't want anyone else in the house due to COVID. She did not offer any additional options, so in my distress, I relented and said the maintenance person could come at least check things out. They gave me 30 minutes to vacate for the maintenance person. It was pouring down rain so a bit inconvenient but... ok. A few minutes later as we were preparing to vacate, I opened up a cupboard to get a glass of water and ants were running around all of our plates and cups in the cabinets. My kids were upset and I was disgusted, and we decided we didn't want to be there at all. I called back and spoke to the owner this time. This is where the gaslighting began! I told her as politely as I could that we were uncomfortable and would be leaving. She then LAUGHED AT ME and loudly cawed, "You're LEAVING OVER SUGAR ANTS??" Then she said, "it's not like it's mice or rats! They don't bite, they don't sting, and they don't carry disease!" OHHH. OK! I don't mind if I find a few swimming in my morning coffee, then! No prob. #BeachLife! She also tried this one: "this is NORMAL for Manzanita!" When I tried to tell her that I've been vacationing at the coast at Seaside since I was young, and had never experienced anything like this, she cut me off to explain, "This isn't SEASIDE, it's MANZANITA!" OHHH! Yes, right, this town is 30 minutes down the coast from the one I grew up going to... and thus has a compleeeetely different climate, vegetation and pests, and that makes an ant infestation perfectly acceptable, perfectly normal, perfectly healthy. When I explained that I did not want any chemicals to be sprayed because I had my dog in the house, she again CUT ME OFF to tell me she has EXPENSIVE dogs and she would NEVER put dogs in danger. OK? Not sure why I needed to know she has expensive dogs. This is not about you, Karen. This is about us, you know, the people who paid almost $2000 to stay here? She never once apologized. She never offered to set us up with a different property. She just attempted to gaslight me into thinking I was CrAzY for wanting to vacate a property swarming with lovable, friendly little ants. Meanwhile, my body still itches. She went on and on for so long without letting me speak, that my daughter eventually took the phone from me and told her we would be leaving, and hung up. We packed up our things and got out of ANT HAVEN. I requested a refund through AirBnb, which the property manager has declined. But it's fine, I'm dealing directly with AirBnb to resolve it. And, this is just review #1. I do not love an ant colony in my silverware drawer, but I DO love a review. And I'm only getting started. Avoid. Unless you love ants and being insulted.

The design and decor were very well thought out and it's one of the few places we've stayed where the home looked even better in person than it did in the pictures, and the pictures already looked great! Ashley was phenomenal host and was quick to answer questions, offer suggestions and provide anything we needed. Overall an easy 10/10 and can't wait to go back next year!

This is best told as a tale: my wife wanted to do something truly unique and awesome for the weekend, so she booked a room at Fisherman Suites, which is right above Coffee Girls at the end of Pier 39 in Astoria. Booking all done on line, confirmed that we'd be arriving at 4:00 on Friday. Wasn't able to get an answer to "where do we find you to check in?" which turned out to be significant. So we arrive at Pier 39 right at 4 PM and start looking for Fisherman Suites. It is upstairs, at the end of a series of offices. That is, the suites are upstairs, but no hotel office and no one around. Tried phoning, but the phone system dead ends, no voice mail. After looking around Pier 39 a bit I went into the brew pub and asked; the office is next to the Pier 39 men's room, and it turns out to be the office for the Pier 39 development. Office is open, no one there. The people in the brew pub suggested the dive shop as another possibility as to where the owner might be, but no joy there: lights on, nobody home. Well, you can imagine that my wife was getting pretty upset by all of this, as she'd planned to have this amazing weekend and it wasn't starting out too well. We'd been wandering around for about an hour when I went back to the pub again and asked if there might be some other way to find the owner. "He's right over there talking to those people." Walked over, introduced myself, and the owner handed me the key. "Let me know if you need anything." Um, right...how would I do that? Never mind. We're here, we've got the key, game on. So we're in our room, which is a wide room with lots of river view windows. Think I'll sit and look out...wait, where's the furniture? Found a small love seat pushed against the wall and moved it and a table into viewing position. Now to turn off the harsh overhead lights and switch on the table lamps...umm...there's one dim table lamp over by the bed, and that's it. Here's what we've got: guy furnishing. The woodworking is beautiful, the lighting is utilitarian, the walls stark white with no art work at all, jangling blue-green bathroom. Noisy fridge, microwave, worst coffeemaker in the universe. A gorgeous gas fireplace that doesn't work. WiFi best described as "iffy." There isn't any sense of cozy or comfortable. I'm guessing that the rooms were designed to be office space and converted into a hotel later. So here's the upside: a unique locale with a stunning view of the river, quiet, remote, and you can walk into town. Coffee Girls is right downstairs. Downside: expensive, not cozy or comfortable, and challenging to do business with. Glad we had the experience, but there are several other riverside places that offer better service and better value.

WHAT A TREAT! I'm not even sure where to begin. There were so many activities (kayaking, paddleboarding, swimming, goat feeding, board games, giant outdoor chess, lawn games, giant tricycles, and horseback riding) that I personally never got through my list of things I wanted to do. The barn itself has many rooms with comfortable beds. There are more than enough bathrooms to accommodate all guests. The barn is three stories. The first floor boasts an industrial kitchen and a very large dining room and two bathrooms. The second level has another full kitchen and living area as well as bedrooms and bathroom. This level also has a large open area with a small stage a d dance floor. I can totally see a youth group enjoying this space. My family used it to play D&D. The upper level has more sleeping areas and another bathroom. The owners were very helpful as well as unobtrusive. We have already booked our reunion here for 2020.

Found dryer filled with mold and smelly. The place was not clean. We wiped up the floor ourselves....rather than opting to notify owner and wait for her to come clean. We wanted our vacation to start...not deal with waiting for cleaners. When I wrote a review to report this (which gave it 3 stars with an honest review of both positives and negatives)...I found months later that the owner somehow hacked in and changed my review to a higher rating, with a brief review omitting cleanliness concerns.
