Rogers Inn Vacation Rentals was Johnny-on-the-spot during our recent trip to the Oregon Coast. My family rents a home for a week in a different coastal city every November. Both the home and our interactions with the rental agent this year were stellar. I initially found the property on one of the other vacation rental websites, but they have their own site (http://www.seasideoregonvacations.com/) with detailed information on approx. 30 properties in the Seaside area. Different sizes (condos and houses) located on the Prom for an ocean view as well as some that are inland. The aerial maps along with the interior and exterior photos of the homes are really helpful. The initial communication via email was always prompt and cordial. The home we chose is on the market, but we were informed well in advance and it didn't end up affecting our stay at all. There were contingency plans in place if the home sold before our rental. They were flexible about our check-in and check-out times because the home wasn't rented on either side of our stay. We arrived to a clean home that reflected what we saw on-line. Always a relief. We had one minor issue during our stay and received prompt attention. If we end up returning to Seaside, they would be my first call for a beach house rental. read more

Rented a home on the beach at Seaside, Oregon (1821 S. Prom). Got to the rental office, there was a notice that they will return shortly with a phone number to call for emergency. Earlier, we got a missed call from the office but being from Canada and not having a cell phone plan, we did not answer. So when we arrive at the office and saw the notice, we thought we would come back to office later...however we bumped into a cleaner/housekeeper. I approached her to ask if she knew when the manager would be back b/c we got a missed and it might have been about checking in early. She right away got super defensive about the "early checkin" and said that if the manager is letting you in early, he is being nice, just wait. I didn't even complain but simply asked if she knew when he would return. The awful housekeeper/cleaner then told the manager that we were complaining and when I finally went there to the office he was there and gave me an attitude about what the housekeeper told him. First of all, she cannot communicate, completely misunderstood me and this manager didn't even bother asking me but accused me for saying something I didn't say and he told me to come back later for the key and said he never promised anything about early check-in. I've stayed at Seaside 4 times but never bumped into anyone as rude as the cleaner/housekeeper nor did I ever bumped into a manager who is so ignorant! We rented the old house at 521 S. Downing St. The manager of the Rogers Inn Rentals is Bobby who has an office nearby. A really pleasant person and very helpful when we needed a couple of things done. This reflect no disrespect toward him or the cleaning crew of the house we rented. Do not ruin your vacation on this rental. It's such a jumbled up old rattletrap of a house and in real bad need of new everything.. All the carpets are spotted and the bedding very old and scary. The lighting is especially crazy in the kitchen and bathrooms. I must comment on lots of hot water and wonderful towels....thick, white and fluffy! read more

521 Downing Sesaide Manor. STAY AWAY!!! The smell was old I could deal with that. The house was old, run down, dirty, dingy, mold and mildew in the bathrooms. The cabinets were sticky. Not enough silverware for a house that sleeps 12. And the basement bedrooms and bathrooms. Omg. Stay out!! The bathroom floor was moldy around the shower! The main level floors were so squeaky you can't sleep below. STAY AWAY!!!! read more

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! I wish there were a way to post no stars but one will have to do. Traveled to Seaside with my family. Booked a townhouse right by the rental office with 8 other members of my family. One positive note- they let us check in an hour early. We were not given enough towels for the 9 of us, especially considering we had a hottub nearby for our use. We only had 5 towels so we sent one of the kids to the office located across the driveway. No one was there but someone told him the towels were located ion the garage right by our back door. So he grabbed a few. The next day, the manager accused my sister of being a thief. My mom and I went into to the office to explain what happened and to try and make things right. The manager scared my mom. He was so angry and yelled at her so loud and violently, she thought he was going to come over the counter at her. I walked in a few minuted later and tried to give back some of the towels and explain that we didn't even have enough for the 9 of us. He continued to tell me that we were thieves and how dare we take towels. He said that each of the owners are separate and now the housekeeper was going to have to lock the garage because we are thieves. We tried our best to calm him and ask what we could do to make it right. He told us to stop stealing from him. Seriously???? We're talking towels!! The next day, while my aunt and uncle were visiting, my uncle had a grand mal seizure and we called 911. My mom went outside to wait for the ambulance and the manager came out to inform her that we cannot have any visitors at all. We are only allowed to have the 9 people that we checked in with and no more because it violated the fire code. Really? There's an ambulance there to check on my uncle and he behaves like this?? She was very upset by his demeanor and walked away telling him that this conversation is over. I then called the local fire department and spoke to the Fire Chief. He assured me that we were fine having people over to visit. He said it might be a problem if we had 50 people over. I had to laugh. That night our internet went out mysteriously. My brother-in-law went over to have him turn it back on and get some toilet paper, paper towels and garbage sacks. The manager started in again about the visitors so my BIL told him we spoke to the Fire Chief and we were fine with a few visitors. He then called my BIL a liar!! The nerve of some people. How does this guy, Bobby, still have a job???? Last rant- the house was dirty. The windows in my sisters room and my mom's room had huge amounts of mold. I wish I could post the pictures that I took. The place definitely could use a good cleaning. Bottom line- AVOID Rogers Inn at all costs!!! read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED. My boyfriend spoke on the phone with who I believe was the owner about 2 days prior to our reservation. My boyfriend told the man multiple times we would be there LATE FRIDAY and checking out EARLY SUNDAY. They spoke on the phone for about 20 minutes regarding the reservation. Because we were coming late on Friday (after the 7:00pm check in time), we were told an envelope would be on the office door with our key. The man told us that should we come across any problems, to feel free to call the after hours number. When we got there at 9:00pm on Friday night, there was no envelope. We called the after hours number; a man came to the door and was very upset that we were there. I waited in the car because his demeanor made me very uncomforatble. My boyfriend told him we were there for our keys, and the man swore up and down that we made our reservation for Saturday through Monday. He was VERY RUDE to my boyfriend and yelled at him, blaming him for the mistake. He then said things like "I don't come to your house at 3 o'clock in the morning and bug you!" .... It was literally 9:15pm at this point. My boyfriend was getting nowhere with him. There was no one even renting the house that night, so regardless of the "he said she said" I don't see why he wouldn't just change the dates in his system. He said 'that isn't the point" and the point was that we were being outrageous by bothering him. The man was very aggravated about us being there "SO LATE", and was certain it was our mistake. We had made a reservation for that night...we had driven two hours from home to be there...we weren't there to bother him... we were there for our RESERVATION that we had spoken with him about for 20 minutes just days before. We even called at 6:00pm that night to confirm. We left a message and this was an hour before the office closed so he would have had plenty of time to get the message and be aware of our arrival. He was very sketchy and made my boyfriend very uncomfortable. Basically we were stranded with no where to stay. I speak VOLUMES of the Oceanfront Shiloh who accommodated us last minute, but Rogers Inn is a disgrace. I should also mention, while I was unable to look inside any units, the place looked like a dump. The man did refund our money - how's that for impeccable customer service? read more

We rented the house at 521 S Downing St. The price was reasonable, ~200/night. We had 12 people with us for our stay. GOOD THINGS - The gentleman at the property management company was very kind and addressed our concerns VERY quickly. - We were able to check-in about an hour early, which was really nice. - We had plenty of room. 4 bedrooms + two large living areas & large dining area. - The rooms were clean. I saw older reviews about the bedding, but someone must have taken note because all of our towels & bedding were fresh & clean. - It was cold when we were at the coast (~30 degrees) and the heater was great & kept most of the house warm (except the game-room). ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT - The kitchen was not well stocked for 12-guests. Plenty of silverware, dishes & cups, but no pot holders. There are two ovens, but only one cookie sheet & small baking dishes. The property manager gave us extra baking sheets. 8-cup coffee pot for 12 guests? - Adding a recycling bin in the kitchen would have made it easier to recycle. - There were no cleaning supplies. We usually like to wipe down our counters with 409 but made-due with soap. There was only one dish-towel, so the property manager gave us more. - There was only a partial role of paper towels & about 8 rolls of toilet paper. That wasn't enough for 12-people for 5-days. We had to buy our own when we ran out. - The house advertised a DVD player, but there was none. Half our guests were young kids. We brought movies for a couple of movie-nights but had to buy a cheap DVD player at Rite-Aid. - There were notes on all the toilets about the sewer system. We followed all the rules but still had an incident with the plumbing. It wasn't pleasant, but the property manager had it taken care of VERY quickly. - The couch in the living room was very comfortable, but older. We treated the furniture with respect, and did nothing to abuse it. After we left we were charged an additional $250 because the arm of the couch was broke. We did not notice this when we were there. If it did break while we were there, it was from normal wear & tear and I don't feel it's fair we had to pay for it. - I will rent from the management company again, and have reservations for a stay this summer in a different house, but I will not rent this home again. read more

481 S. Downing Captains Quarters Stayed two nights, could not sleep do to the smell of Urine. 2nd night opened the balcany slider all the way and cranked the heat just so we didn't smell the urine. Turned in the keys this morning and the property MGR was aware, said it was do to Racoons getting into the attic etc. and there was a treatment currently in place. Now why didn't he tell us this before we spent $592.00 of our hard earned money for two nights in this rental. Shame on you is all I can say. I couldn't sleep at night in that situation either! if I did that to someone. Whoever has this house booked, I feel sorry for you if it's passed the 45 day cancellation period. Oven does not work properly, also need to share one outlet in kitchen because the other outlets don't work. read more

We had a lovely weekend at Frannie's Beach House in Seaside. The representative really guided us right in the choice of houses, it was perfect for our group of extended family. Everything went smoothly and my whole family was impressed. The house has a great location and view and was clean and comfortably furnished. Loved it! read more

We just spent a week at the Sea Knoll. We had a great time. The place was clean, perfect size for a family with children - teenage children even! The people were kind as well. We are hoping to make this our yearly vacation house. We loved everything about it. Thank you! read more

The old man that runs this place is just rude. We rented the house on 1821 S Prom, Unit A. The furniture was broken or almost broken in the living room. The twin bed upstairs had two of the slats missing so when I laid down in caved in. The rude man said we did this but we didn't. I don't recommend this rental company at all! read more

Frannie's Beachfront (1305) We had to change our plans last minute, as we were supposed to go to Yellowstone for a long weekend, but since the park was closed we scrambled to find something else and found Rogers Inn Vacation Rentals. Since it was off-season they had a special 3 nights for the price of 2. The place was clean, right on the beach, beautiful views upstairs and on the main floor, comfortable beds - couldn't have asked for more. the pictures didn't do the place justice - it was even better than we had expected. They allowed a late check-in as we had an 8 hour drive to get there - It was perfect. We would definitely recommend Rogers Inn Vacation Rentals to anyone wanting to stay in the Seaside area. read more

First things first. My wife and I and our 2 little dogs have stayed at the Rogers Inn 5 times over the last 10 years. We stayed there because it was the best deal in Seaside. You get a little house close to the beach; what's not to like. Well, as it turns out, there are some problems. The little house we stay in sits next to the Sales Office. That posed the following issue. We'd always known the proprietor/maintenance guy was a bit testy, but he has become downright irascible as of late. It may be that a recent stroke has eaten part of his brain. On this most recent trip, everyday brought with it a new yelling match between himself and a tenant. I thought perhaps he was just getting bad tenants until he turned his wrath on us! Here's the funny part! It all started with a rat, a great big fat rat, a foot long from whiskered nose to tail. It flopped out of the front of the dishwasher and hit the kitchen floor with an audible thud at 3:45 am only 3 days into our vacation. We asked for help in getting rid of the rat. That seemed at the time to be a reasonable request. We spent $2400 to stay at the Rogers Inn for 3 weeks, and so we felt we had a right to expect the house to be vermin free. Our asking for help the following morning resulted in a display of major attitude on the part of this property manager turned @$$hole. Needless to say, the rat stick he tossed under the sink only made the rat angry. For the next 8 nights I listened to the sound of his scratching and grinding at the plywood under the sink making himself a nice big entry way into our cottage. At that point, my wife, not me, confronted the maintenance jerk again to ask if something could be done about the rat. Oddly, he was nice. He nailed a piece of floor molding over the hole under the sink, and, voila, no more rat noise. By now, it was almost time to leave our lovely abode by the beach, and we, my wife, not me, offered to leave our accumulated refrigerated goods behind for the maids. For some reason, referring to housekeeping as maids set off a storm of crazy the likes of which would pucker the sphincter of the most hardened ice-road trucker. He accused my sweet wife of being racist and told her to get out of his office. We just wanted to know if they wanted us to leave the food or throw it away. We won't be subjecting ourselves to anymore of his abuse. It was a nice gig while it lasted. God help you if you need this guy for any help. He's out of his freaking mind. read more

521 South Downing. BEWARE. THEY WILL SCAM YOU AND TAKE YOUR MONEY. DISGUSTING, DIRTY AND A FIRE HAZARD. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! We checked in on a Thursday. Went to put the kids to bed late that night at 11pm. When we pulled out the hide-a-beds one had no sheets and one was broken on the bottom corner. We told the kids to be careful and not climb out that way. We had to be at dance competition early the next morning so I contacted the office when we got back from dance competition the next day around noon to ask for sheets and let them know the bed was broken. The manager was harassing and rude and told me we had broke the bed. Having vacation rentals myself I believed I was being nice to report the items I found broken. He stated I should have called the emergency number at 11pm at night to report the bed. It never crossed my mind to call an emergency number at 11pm at night for that reason. He also did not believe that we had no sheets and had to pull the bed out to look. The longer we were there the more problems we found. This house needs serious repairs and renovations. I have rented multiple houses from numerous different companies and have never had problems or been treated this way. The house was dirty, disgusting and falling apart. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE/MAJOR WATER LEAK/DIRTY- would rate a no star if possible. We stayed at 1821 S. Promenade. Home was old and dusty, outdated furniture and I kept my shoes on the entire time as the carpet felt dirty. Housekeeping did not fill up soap dispensers to capacity so at check-in half the soap was full. 2 bathrooms in the home, the home houses 12 pax I believe. We had 10. Both bathrooms stocked with just 2 rolls of toilet paper. We had to get our own toilet paper from the management office (located quite a bit away from the home we rented). The kicker- our home had a leak (not a slow dripping leak, but a stream of water) on our last day in the home. In a matter of minutes it grew to 2 leaks. I called the manager, Bobby Murphy and he acted like this was normal? Horribly rude and defensive. Never once apologized for the leak or anything I shared with him. I had to follow-up with him and when I did get him on the phone it was appalling the type of behavior and "service" (lack there of I should say") that he gave me. Our phone conversation is recapped below to give you a detailed account of what I encountered. Phone conversation recap from July 29th with Mr. Bobby Murphy: I called Mr. Murphy the morning of July 29th as a follow-up to my email where I stated we were disappointed in our stay due to the leak and various other issues in the home. Mr. Murphy answered and said he remembered who I was and where I stayed. I mentioned the leak and said that I assumed it had been fixed by now. He said yes. I said Ok well besides the leak I wanted to share my experience that our family had with the home. I said the leak happened the morning of departure and we planned to have breakfast but could not because the leak was in the kitchen and got all over the coffee pot and toaster, etc. I then started to mention cleanliness and how it did not look like the photos on the website. Mr. Murphy interjected and said, "hey now wait a minute, you never mentioned this while you were here..." I then said "I'm not done talking" then Mr. Murphy said "Well hey this is a conversation, if you're just going to tell me to shut up then I'm going to hang up on you." Stunned I said "I didn't say that! And I would never say that." He then said well all because of a leak now you want to complain about everything else. I am on your side about the leak but all these other things you never said. I mentioned that I had worked in hotels for 9 years (service training) and that I am not a complainer because I know things happen and I am understanding of the other side, however I wanted to share my experience to make it better for the next paying guest. Mr. Murphy then said well it's getting close to check out time so you better hurry up (he said this in a rude and rushing demeanor) I then went on to talk about cleanliness and that soap was half filled up from day one and not enough toilet paper, etc... Mr. Murphy did not want to hear what I had to say as he rushed me again and said he could take 10% off. I questioned if that was one night or entire stay, he said entire stay. I said well I would need to figure out what that amount is and it's not all about the money. Then I continued to give specifics of the home. Mr. Murphy then said "OK, I've got check-in happening, I can do 10% off do you want it or not?" I cannot tell you in words how shocked I was at that comment. No "I'm sorry, or what would make this right for you?" was ever said. I was rushed off the phone and felt empty and sick to my stomach that he would treat me that way as a guest. If he would have handled this situation differently and this home's service level from management and team were a 9 or 10 level then I would have looked BEYOND the imperfections of the home. But, when you have a home that is not what you expect and a manager who did not want to hear my experience and was rude to me then it becomes about the entirety of the experience- the condition of the home, the issues encountered, and above all the service level given. Shortly after our phone conversation an email was sent with a reimbursement invoice re: trouble with the leak on our last day in the home. It was $162. This was not even equal to one-night's stay, I asked Mr. Murphy via email to consider a full night's stay refund. No response, and two follow-up emails were sent again with no response still. I'm certain I am being ignored on email because Mr. Murphy has shown he cannot deal with problems and problem- resolution. Please beware when booking any home with Rogers Inn. read more

The pictures of the property we were renting did NOT represent the cottage we were renting. After depositing $412.00 to hold the reservation, we arrived, checked in, paid another $442.00 and received our keys. When we went into the cottage there was pet hair on the bedspread, the carpet, and furniture. It was nothing like the 'cute/quaint' cottage we viewed on line. When we brought the manager to our room (Bob Murphy), he refused to acknowledge any of our complaints. When we said we wanted to go somewhere else and get our money back, he said, "I'll only give you the $442.00 that you paid today, you'll get none of your deposit back". When we argued that we weren't cancelling (cancellations don't get refunds), but that we were choosing to NOT stay there. He said "I'll be glad when you losers get out of here". HORRIBL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! We never even made it to stay in their properties. Our Portland to Coast Team was looking for a house for that weekend. I spoke to one of their employess on a Friday and she told me they had a 2 night minimum for that weekend. I even asked her specifically - are you sure becuase others have a 4 or even 7 night minimum, she confirmed YES. Her and I went through their website together on the phone looking at different houses. She pointed me to 2 homes that were across the street from each other and said I could book them for 2 nights on their website. I booked on their OWN website that Friday afternoon. By Sunday morning I received an email from them saying they had a 3 night minumum that weekend and they could not confirm my reservation until I added a night. I responded to the email asking why their employee told me it was 2 nights and their OWN website allowed me to book 2 nights? The manager bobby responded saying they told me the policy and if I couldn't comply maybe I needed to go elsehwere becasue they like to deal with customers that are easier to deal with! WOW!!!! You can bet we ran as fast as we could from this place - I'd hate to see what would happen if we were staying in one of their properties and had an issue while there. We will NEVER rent from this place and will be facebook posting and writing as many reviews to warn people as we can. Don't trust what their employees or website tell you. read more
