Since…read morewe live in Portland, about 2 hours away from Astoria, it is a quick getaway for us and we plan on making the trip as often as we can. Pam and David are the sweetest and most hospitable hosts, and their B&B truly feels like a cozy home. They collect really fun items, and each room has its own character and its own unique homey decor. The location of the inn is close enough to walk anywhere you would want to go out for dinner, drinks, or shopping. The best part of the inn (besides Pam's breakfasts - which always include the BEST fruit bowls) is most definitely their 13 year old chihuahua, Penny. She often makes an appearance after breakfast and steals the heart of everyone she meets. If you aren't able to use a tub with a shower handle (like the kind popular in Europe) to bathe, then I would suggest getting one of their rooms with a shower/tub combination. I loved having a clawfoot tub to soak in (we stayed in the Rose Room this time) each night while I read and drank a cup of tea. There is usually hot water and teabags or instant coffee available at all hours (freshly brewed coffee is available starting at 7am) on the stairway landing and I took full advantage of that amenity!

Their eye for detail is immaculate. We had a long drive to this location after a long flight ride and were immediately greeted with local craft beers in the fridge and a delicious cheese and charcuterie board. The sauna is amazing and the local soaps and lotions an added bonus. There's bikes and a laundry room for use, and the views are unbeatable. Smoking is permitted outdoors in a designated area for those who desire, but the area is not obtrusive or bothersome to no smokers, and this house by no means smells like cigarette smoke whatsoever. Everyone in my 5 person party keeps raving about this place. You are a FOOL if you don't stay here.

Clementines has that same charm and history which adds to the experience. The location was ideal in that it was within walking distance of the river front and downtown area, w/in driving distance to areas of interest like, the Astoria Column, the beaches and parks and more importantly all the "Goonie" sights! Clementines itself was great. The innkeeper was very nice and helpful with any questions that we had about what to do or where to go. Our room was...."roomy".....comfortable and full of personality. Clementines also allows pets which is a nice consideration so we were able to bring our puppy along for the trip. The breakfast was simple yet good with a very homey feel sitting around the breakfast table chatting with the other people staying over and with the innkeeper and her help. We would definitely recommend staying here if you ever find yourself in Astoria....you should make reservations first.....and there's no minimum stay, so stay for a night, two nights or more. We were short on time, but you can bet we'll be back to search for One-eyed-Willie's treasure..and when we do we'll be staying at Clementines Bed & Breakfast.

This used to be my go-to in Seaside, (and another hotel in Lincoln City), but not anymore. I have…read morestayed here countless times without issue until my last stay in October 2025. I have always used the same card to reserve my room, and for some reason the desk employee decided it was a good idea to run my card through again and again for a total of SIX times, only to have my bank tag it for fraud. This resulted in me having to call my bank several times, who eventually called Visa, both saying there wasn't a problem with my card or credit limit. The entire time the employee kept stating how he has been doing this for 30 years so it couldn't have been his fault. Not only would he not take responsibility for his recklessness, but he implied this was my fault somehow. This took hours to resolve, back and forth between the bank and the hotel, and I finally, reluctantly, used a different card. It's unnerving to have your credit card tagged for fraud because a desk clerk screwed up. I emailed Frank Hotels after this happened with no reply. Apparently, they don't care if they have an unhappy customer and a rude employee. Normally when there is something brought to management's attention you get a response, not so with this company. Hopefully others will not have the same problem, and as a side note, there are other Frank Hotels along the coast ... so beware.

When I think of Astoria, I think of a quirky, old and exhausted Victorian town that had its heyday…read moremany moons ago and now stands on its own as a funky place. This is what you get when you visit Grandview B & B. Funky, old, and in those two things - charm. Sharlene is someone who has lived a nice long life and probably has many stories to tell. She is usually the woman who greets you when you arrive. Be patient, as it takes her a bit to get to the front door. Also, if you come down to the lobby area after you have checked in and try to talk to Sharlene, make sure she can see who you are. I watched a few times as guests came down the stairs to call out to her about a question and she can't move her neck as easily to know who she is talking to. :) Be kind and patient with this wonderful lady. We stayed in the Treetops Room which has a balcony where you can look out over the river and see the old Flavel home. And you can even spy the Goonies house in the far off distance. Breakfast is served at 7:30, 8:30 or 9:30 and you get to choose which one works best for you. Bagels, smoked salmon and chocolate muffins! YUM! The sweet chef was wonderfully sweet and we felt very special eating in the closed off room. If you want 1000 thread count sheets or modern amenities, this is not where you will find them. Come for the experience and the charm of staying in a very old house. I love this place and am making this a yearly traditional stop on our way to Cannon Beach.

This was an amaaaazingly grand find! All major chains were booked solid so we first checked into…read moreone of the $80 rooms on Marine Dr. to find it had no AC!! We opened the windows only to be blown away with traffic and bridge construction noise. We immediately asked for a refund and started calling lodging options away from Marine Dr. and lucked into an available room at Grandview! Our room, called "Cloud Nine" came with a lovely view of the Astoria-Megler Bridge and Columbia River sunset! And in the morning, we sat in the private breakfast nook in a turret with a gorgeous view of the river!! Breakfast included fresh fruit, juice, coffee, salmon and cream cheese on a cheddar bagel, and chocolate muffins. Staying at the Grandview was a highlight of our trip, a wonderful surprise find!! Please note that this review was written in July 2013. I just got around to posting it a year later!!
