    What should have been a routine phone upgrade turned into a devastating experience due to poor…read moremanagement and complete lack of accountability. I came in on a Thursday to transfer data from my old phone to a new one. Diana, the employee who initially helped me, was kind and genuinely tried to assist. A coworker even called me later that evening with an update after Diana had left. At that point, I still felt hopeful. Everything fell apart when the situation was handed off to the store manager. When I returned the next morning, the manager had no idea who I was or what had been going on. Despite me calmly explaining the situation and how critical my data was, he was dismissive, condescending, and clearly uninterested in helping. I was told nothing could be done. Canceling the transaction would take hours and would cost me a $50 restocking fee. Pressed for time and needing to return to Lincoln City, I felt forced to proceed based on his assurance that once an update was initiated, everything from my old phone would appear on the new one. I explicitly begged him not to erase my old phone until I could confirm the transfer was complete. He told me that was "not possible." It turns out my cloud backup only went through 2020. I lost the last five years of my life: irreplaceable photos of friends and family members who have since passed, critical text messages for my vacation rental business, and important documents saved on my phone. All gone. This loss is permanent. It was completely avoidable. And it was made worse by a manager who showed zero empathy, professionalism, or care. I am sharing this so others understand the risk. If your data matters to you--especially photos and business information--do not assume it will be handled responsibly here. One careless decision can cost you years you can never get back.

I was a bit nervous going to a satellite tv service because several years ago we were with DirecTv and thought we would never change until our 5th year with them when the renter neighbor next door installed a DirecTv dish that completely blocked our signal and the technician there refused to move the dish they just installed, they wanted to move ours. That day, they lost of customer for good. We went back to cable which we hated but not going back to a company that turn their backs on us after 5 years (the renter was evicted), and new homeowner went with cable so DirecTv lost 2 customers within 5 months of time. I kept getting offers from DirecTv over the years but they gave us a bad taste of their customer service we wouldn't want to risk them again. I called and spoke to Scott at Sky Systems and even though it was almost closing time for him he spent over the time getting my husband and I signed up and set up for an install 2 days later. His installer Brad was very good and helpful to my husband and answered and helped with any questions and concerned he had and with the new remote. So glad we were recommended to Sky Systems. Diana had helped her to unlock them so they would be available on my carrier. Well, I had been as frustrated as crap because the one phone I wanted service on just would not activate. The other phone, I couldn't even get past the very 1st screen. (And I'm not technically illiterate, I've successfully done this a few times!) So, the 1st phone, they couldn't figure it out either. The 2nd phone, that I couldn't get anywhere on, Diana did the thing that worked! Yay! And I am NOT even a Spectrum customer. I'll work with my provider about the issue on their end with the other phone. Thank you both, as well as the store manager who didn't raise any fuss for them helping a non customer.

In general, the internet has been superb, although the Ocean Park home has more frequent outages (like 10x more). But the Cable TV, is pretty poor. Their DVR box is so antiquated, can barely hold it together with two recordings. My old Dish Network DVR could do 4 channels no problem and that was like 15 years ago. The Spectrum box is extremely slow, takes a long time to respond to command buttons. The Guide is ABYSMAL. And the DVR doesnt record whole programs, cutting them off before they end. And picture quality frequently suffers. Its not going to take much of an offer to get me to switch back to a satellite service for TV.
