Poor customer service. I closed my account and had a refund coming. That was 4 months ago. Still waiting Coast

I have used coast because they are the only game in town, on my end of Ocean Shores. Constantly having outages, I get it we have weather issues but yesterday 7/5/2026 nothing and my phones and internet are not working, which sucks for a 24 hour business. I called the 24 hour number and they said call the office in the morning, WOW. Thank god I have a starlink satellite in my motorhome. have to wait until 830am to talk to someone. Customer service has been good. Not great, just good. The internet however is horrible. They claim to cover Ocean shores but they constantly have outages and the connection constantly drops. I have bought several of their routers, had their techs come out to fix the internet. Nothing. No fixes have been found. Service is bad which isnt entirely their fault. But to be IN Ocean Shores and still fail to have decent internet is downright criminal. The only Connection thats any good is if your within a couple hundred yards of their facility or in a nearby building. Coast Communications. If you read this. I love this town. But I have purchased your most EXPENSIVE PACKAGE, Which is supposed to be 1gig speed. It barely get 1.5 to 5 mbs per second. Invest in bettering your infrastructure and ensure that your range is expanded so that people in ALL of Ocean Shores can enjoy this town without feeling like being cut off from the world. Additionally you need to stop selling personal data and information. (I am unaware if this action has stopped) but you should be making your money off of your Services ONLY. Not by data brokering out personal data and information. For the CUSTOMERS who read this very insightful review. Just get Century or Comcast, as of right now, Coast Communications is a mess who takes little pride in its ability to provide its community with good internet and cares little to expand or make its infrastructure better. Its really sad because by being on the coast, everyones options are limited and they know this so they do not care. Would give half a star if I could. read more

Coast Cable shut off my Internet without warning and for no apparent reason and won't restore it until tomorrow morning because they have highly inadequate after-hours support. My Airbnb guests just checked in and told me about the outage. After-hours support said they couldn't help me. I've been a customer for more than a decade without a single issue. Coast Communications must just be wanting some one star reviews. Will do. read more

I would love to give them 5 stars because most of the time the phone reps are chill and normal people and have no idea why the internet is slowing down. I tend to get the speeds I requested which is why I'm giving this 2 stars. The problem is that after a while of using the internet a lot, I play video games and watch shows online via internet, the internet starts to slow down. I've done extensive testing on the internet speeds, packets loss, latency, and routing issues that their internet has. I've spent multiple months reaching out requesting that someone that handles the engineering behind the internet to look into it. The phone reps can't do much about it. At this rate, I'm giving 2 stars because it seems they intentionally slow your internet down even though I'm paying nearly 250$ a month for the best possible package they offer. I would pay more if it meant they would stop throttling or actually get fiber optic built in the area. From what it seems they have buffer bloat, packet loss, and latency issues. So your speeds might show normal but really you're losing quality. Think of it like 2 people serving a burger in 10 seconds but one of them is missing all the toppings and is undercooked. Sure they got the speed there but the rest of it is missing or having issues. I hope they can fix their internet, I'm reaching out to as many internet provider companies as I can and the mayor to help build a better internet infrastructure for the community. read more

I've lived in Ocean Shores since 2007 and have used Coast Communications the whole time. I work from home and rely heavily on the internet. And over those years, I've had very little problem with it. In the few times I have had problems, their service has been great. They've always been friendly and responsive--as have their technicians when in-home service has been necessary. read more

I'm so angry with them, I'll be looking at other options. They charged me over $400 for one month of internet usage because I had a house guest that wasn't aware of their outdated data caps. The hugely expensive internet holds no value for customers. $100 for 375 gigs (and I normally only us a fraction of that). Or in my case over $400 for 600 gigs. What a rip off. Most internet providers charge like $50 month unlimited. Hopefully T-Mobile will get coverage out here so we can dump this outfit. read more

I've been using Coast Communications since 2019 for internet and cable. Internet has been reliable for the most part, but it is way overpriced compared to any other state I've lived. My biggest beef is the poor customer service. They used to respond to outages and poor reception immediately. It took them over 4 months to fix horrible pixelation on all of the Discovery-owned channels, and they only fixed after receiving a complaint from the FCC. Now, apparently, they don't do any troubleshooting on channels on the weekend unless it's a complete outage. My favorite channel has been down all weekend, and I only get told to leave voice mail. I used to recommend Coast Communications in spite of their cost over the other alternatives available in Ocean Shores. I can't anymore and would switch in a heartbeat if there was a viable alternative. read more

If you have Coastal Communications and your TV is pixelating check the small CBL button at the top right side of your Coastal channel selector. If you accidentally pressed any adjacent buttons as TV, Aud, DVD, Aux that will deplete your signal down to where you pixelate. Click back on CBL button that will fix pixelating. read more

I have been using Coast since May of 2018 and I have had no problems. In fact I have only had the best experiences. I do not use cable, I only use unlimited data. Aside from it being pricey, the staff have been exceptional both at the office when I was determining my need, and the tech who came to connect my lines. I will see how winter goes, but I am not expecting anything less than the great service I receive currently. read more

We just moved to Ocean Shores and had some issues with our cable. Cheryl was INCREDIBLY helpful in not only working with us to figure out we needed a tech (who was also superior in customer service) but to take the time and understand moves are stressful. Cheryl was abundantly professional and I wish more people took pride in their customer service relations as she does. So pleased with the welcome we have received here thus far. Sad I was hoping that these reviews were wrong or outdated. I have bought a piece of property in Ocean Shores and now I have found that these reviews are all correct. This company has not changed or improved in any way. I have called them multiple times to start new service. Usually I can't even get through. You leave a voice mail and never hear back... Then one day they actually answered the phone. OMG!! So I explained that I'd like new service. They took all my information, they took my property address and all my contact information. They said that they would call be back with a quote the next day. It's been 3 weeks and I have not heard a word from them. I've tried to call but again they are not answering their phone... This is for NEW SERVICE. This is how they treat customers who are trying to give them money... imagine how they'd be if they already have you locked in.. Well.. I guess you can just read the other reviews for that. Now I understand why everyone there has satellite, even though its slower and more expensive, at least they answer the phone and don't ignore you. My next call will be to Dish Network.. read more

Coast is the only landline internet provider I know of that caps data usage, with an overage rate higher than most wireless providers charge. It is why we picked a competitor for less than half the cost. Their cable channel guide is not up to date on their website or in TV Guide two weeks after they changed all the digital channels without any advance notice to subscribers. On the plus side, their basic cable works fairly reliably, and they communicated the analog-to-digital conversion much better than the recent, unannounced old-to-new digital change. While they are uncompetitive for more than basic local Seattle channels, those at least work well and cheaply enough to keep. We didn't sign up for a bundle since all were way too expensive, and phone land lines add little value to even a basic cable and/or internet package. In summary, my rating is based only on the "bare bones" cable since Coast isn't even in the running for anything more. Two services at "one star" and one at (a generous) "four" averages out to a low "two." read more

Worse company ever, they have horrible speeds and treat the costumers like poo. They will sit and argue over the phone with you constantly even if you know what you're talking about. The internet they offer for home use is a joke, they limit you and will charge you 10 dollars per gig you go over. I've even talked to the company they pay for internet (yeah they lease internet) and they informed me Coast sounds like a big rip off and laughed me on the phone. Anyone who is well versed in the tech world and using the internet will realize fast that Coast is a horrible deal and an even worse company. The owner is rude and talks to females like they are below him, they even scam the elderly and disabled. If you use this company, I feel sorry for you. You need to stand up and get involved and make a change!! Stop using this company start a petition! read more

Expensive & now they are increasing rates August 1!!! for lousy service. My programming "pixalates" frequently blocking picture & sound, usually happens at a critical point in evening programming. I have called numerous times & get sympathy but no fix for the problem. The office staff is always cheerful & courteous they just can't fix the problems with service. If I could find a good alternative provider I'd switch, but decided to sell my house instead!! read more

If you want to watch the Mariners baseball games, or Seattle Sounders or Portland Timbers soccer matches, you'd better get another t.v. provider. Coast Communications stopped carrying Root Sports NW without much if any notice to its customers. They increased their rates and eliminated carrying Root Sports at about the same time. There are a lot of Mariner fans in Ocean Shores who will be in for a rude awakening come opening day and they find the games aren't carried by Coast Communications anymore. Comcast, you would do the residents of the North Coast of Washington a huge favor by buying out Coast Communications and providing us with decent service. read more

We have used Coast for almost 4 years now and have seen a steady improvement. I work in International Technical Sales and my son is a remote-working software professional and the data rates meet our demanding needs and the new unlimited plans have been helpful to us due to our heavy usage. In our area (Seabrook/Pacific Beach) we have seen improvements in speed and fewer "drop-out" times as the Coast team appears to have upgraded equipment. We do video conference calls all the time with few/no problems. Customer service has always been good although we have seldom needed it. It is expensive, however, Coast has to cover a large, thinly populated, area with storms and trees knocking down lines frequently so the cost is going to be higher than a densely populated area and will not have the same blazing speeds - it is small "price" to pay for living in such a beautiful area in our opinion. read more

Terribly old school ISP! I have lived in Ocean Shores a bit less than a year so we always seem to have the conversation with locals, 'So how do you like living out here? Whats good? Whats bad?' and across the board EVERYONE says that the worst thing about living here is "Coast Communications". They do not say "The Internet", they say The Company by name... Worst part is that they meter you and charge you by the gig for going over so if you are a 'cord cutter' getting rid of Cable TV and wanting to use Roku, Netflix, hulu and the like, you always end up paying more for overages... Yet another year without Marines coverage. Coast claimed Root Sports wanted a huge, but unspecified rate increase. Root Sports "regrets" that they could not come to an agreement with Coast Communications. I trust neither party. Still the rates keep going up and the service does not improve. Dropped the home phone and bought my own modem to help limit costs but it's still too expensive. read more

Totally ridiculous! We have a vacation home in Ocean Shores. We do not have cable and use the internet to stream movies. We only come here once a month, but often have problems during the day and always have problems after about 10 pm. I call tech support and get told that "they are working on network issues in your area." Not sure what is going on with this company, but I would welcome any other company. Tech support is nice, but this internet service is awful. read more

A terrible company. Coast's internet and phone service is slow and overpriced. Since they have a near monopoly in the Ocean Shores Washington area their attitude is: "Is I don't care." They are rude, don't return phone calls and if you visit the office management refuses to talk to you. They are are hated by most in the community. They bill you for 6Mbps service and you'll never get over 4.9. Their website says: Our customer will always come first." but the reality is that like their 6MBps Internet service speed its a lie read more

This service is awful. Speeds less than 1mb up and down. Today in 2/21/16, I just received a letter from them showing they tried to cash a check I wrote them 7/7/15. Since then I have had fraud on that account closed it and opened a new one in November. This company held my check for 6 months then instead of contacting the client they tried to cash a six month old check, are trying to charge me an NSF fee of 25.00 and gave me ten days to pay that bill from July, instead of just billing it out and saying that they were sorry. I am current on my account, except for this error that is not my fault. I'm not even sure a utility can hold a check that long? Disappointed. read more

while they may have slow service,it is faster than anything you will get from Century Link which is your ONLY other choice for internet unless you want to try the expensive Satellite connection with Dish. My experience with their office personnel was ok.....they were friendly but didn't explain about the time window so I expected a tech at a certain time, and was highly disappointed to call and find that it was a window, not an appointment. They do have a very outdated useage limit with overage fee, I didn't think anybody did that anymore, which makes the price a little high, but only $6 higher than Century Link. My connections speed has been above 5.0 download, better than CL at 1.63 or less. It seems that when it is convenient, they can adopt a modern practice (like the appointment window) but maintain an outdated practice for $$$ (like use limit and overage fee). But the only other choice is absolutely worse! Until there is a bigger reason, I will take Coast over Century Link any day! read more

I agree that it isn't right for Ocean Shores residents to be deprived of Mariners games, especially with the price we pay for cable. However, I have to speak up about the great customer service we have received in our first 2 years here. The service calls are free, and when our TV quit recently the technician came out the day I called, and worked through the situation to determine that the TV had failed. He assured me that a tech would come back out to help set up our new set, as they had done before. I managed to set up the new one by myself, but messed up the settings on the remote a week later. When I called Coast Communications for help, Betsy offered to send an updated remote out, but I opted to pick it up. She had it programmed for me. Today, when I again deprogrammed the remote, she fixed it in the office, and also gave me a new updated DVR/cable box. I've always had friendly, helpful service from the staff in-office and in my home. Also, I don't stream much or do any gaming, but do use the laptop a lot for research and shopping. Our internet is the fastest and most reliable I've ever used. The bill for internet and TV is a little high at $120/month, but we have tons of channels, HD, and DVR. Seahawks, and more sports of all kinds than there is time to watch. Everything we could want except... Mariners baseball. read more
