Absolute worst chain dentist office! I only came here to follow my highly competent hygienist, Lene. At one point the office abruptly closed for months without notice and re-opened minus Lene and the original dentist. I'm very particular about my healthcare providers and strive to build a healthy patient-doctor relationship. Since childhood, I had the same loyal dentist and the same for college. The staff turnover is ridiculous making it impossible to have consistent care with the same healthcare provider. I received a text on May 23 rescheduling my June 27 appointment. August 12 was the earliest appointment. I confirmed my appointment on August 8 via text only to arrive the following Monday and be told my appointment was at 8:30 not 9:30 (which I had on 3 calendars-work, planner, and cell phone). Then I was informed that I could not be seen until October. No thank you! I'll take my dental insurance and business elsewhere. Please provide the release paperwork to give me ALL my records. My departure was well overdue. Especially when the Piedmont Office admitted they improperly coded my service yet continued to bill me over $500. That's until I reported them to the Better Business Bureau. Then my bill was properly paid in full with a credit. Do NOT play with my time and/or money. There's too many highly qualified dentists to deal with this subpar dental office. I see they primarily respond to favorable reviews. So that's speaks volumes about the business. read more

When you have a dental emergency you go to the nearest dental office. I was greeted with smiles and positive attitudes from the ladies at the front desk here at cascade. Next the assistants Channelle and Danita took me to the back and did my X-rays, they was really concerned about what bought me in. Meeting Dr Johnson was pleasant. He explained everything I needed and when I had questions, he answered them in a way I could understand. The prices was affordable so when I came back for my cleaning I had the pleasure of meeting Lene and she cleaned me right up!! Very nice and professional! My husband had some work done and stated the pain was worse afterwards. I love the dental hygienist which is why I didn't move locations when my husband did. I had a filling replaced December 29, 2021. I did not have any pain prior to needing my filling replaced. It was found during my annual exam. After the filling was replaced, 2 days later I began to feel discomfort. Then I could no longer eat on that side. I'm very leery about having the dentist repair what he caused, however I'm not in a position to move locations at this time. Dr. Johnson has been all over the place. He is not a good dentist. You need to run if you end up here. After leaving me unable to speak or eat properly he rudely refused to see me after repeated visits to correct the problem. This is after I spent my gas money and took off from work to get there. The other dentist at the office at the time corrected the problem in 5 or less than 10 minutes. He is also dishonest. He took something that I paid for and belonged to me. He refused to return it saying he did not know where it was. I was told by many other dentists that he did an improper job costing me a great deal of extra money to replace what he did. Also, he put another dentist's name on my receipts so that they could not be traced back to him. He used to be with another network. read more

Just left this dentist office. I had an EMERGENCY root canal scheduled. They presented me with a $2000 bill. Which was fine, until I asked about one if the line items, a chat he for $900. This charge was for a crown/crown indention (that he was not able to perform same day, neither the crown nor the indention). So I requested to pay for the indention and crown when he was actually able to perform. He was instantly irritated, and after I explained why it didn't make sense. He tried to trick me by saying , well that's the price for the build up, that was a lie because the build up price was also included on the invoice. He finally admitted to me that it's just his personal preference to not perform root canals unless he's also performing the crown. Mind you this is for an emergency root canal. So basically he wouldn't take or treat me because he couldn't guarantee my future business AKA he couldn't guarantee that he could squeeze me for all the money he wanted to. I first started going to Coast Dental in the Winter of 2010 because an acquaintance of mine was a dentist there at the time. She left a month later because she opened her own practice. In comes in another dentist-at the time I didn't know that Coast dental rotated their dentists around from location to location. The next dentist was considered one of the best in the field in Atlanta but he was really cocky. He slightly got upset with me because I didn't go to the endodontist he referred me to. I'm sorry I'm going to go to who takes my insurance. He scared me away from here for a while. Fast forward to 2013- Dr. Wash and her staff are excellent. She is the first dentist to actually explain to me the reason why I need braces beside the fact that my teeth are crooked. She is very patient. AVOID THIS OFFICE AT ALL COSTS!! Based on the reviews, I am not the only person that has had billing concerns of being overcharged for services. I've waited so long to leave a review on this location to allow them time to resolve my concerns, however, after a year and still no resolution, i am completely over it. My first time going to Coast was 3/2021. What I loved the most was the opportunity to support what seemed to be a 100% Black office including the doctor. In the beginning, everyone was super friendly and I appreciated my appointments starting on time (within 10 minutes of arrival). Something that I wasn't used to is being required to make a payment before service is provided, which is what I think contributes most to my concerns (billing). I won't share the traumatic experience I had, as I appreciate how Dr.Johnson handled it. He was always very transparent, answered all of my questions in detail and explained every single thing to me. After the treatment I received in March, I couldn't return until 6/2021. Because I paid for my treatments in advance, I left with a great amount of credit on my file, which even reflects on my statement. However, after returning in June, completing the remainder of the treatment plan, making additional payments, and reviving my final EOB, I noticed that there were SEVERAL CHARGES listed on my Coast statement that were NEVER BILLED to my insurance company or the prices were hundreds of dollars more than what my EOB indicate I should've paid. I've been reaching out to Coast regarding this since 9/2021. I have proof of every phone call and email that has taken place. Every time I've reached out, I'm bombarded with excuses: the manager is not in, we have a new manager, the manager is busy, we don't have any record of your concerns etc etc. This is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. I've reached out to corporate and Quality Assurance MANY times via phone and chat. They have continuously said my concerns have been escalated and someone will be in touch with me, however, no one has EVER called me or emailed me. For the last 2 weeks I've been calling, no one has answered the phone. At this point I'm curious if they're intentionally not answering my phone calls. Andrea finally answered on Friday. I started by expressing my frustration with the communication and she immediately responding by cutting me off. Her tone was very brusque and she had an attitude. Very poor customer service. I'm allowed to be frustrated and there was absolutely no reason for her to start off sharp. If anything, she should've apologized and informed me that she will be happy to help. She placed me on a 13 MINUTE HOLD while she did research, just to come back to the phone and tell me my balance is $0 (which is btw contrary to what I was told last time). I told her that my balance may look like $0, however, I have been billed incorrectly which has resulted in me paying hundreds of more dollars than I should've paid and it needs to be reviewed. She then tells me that it isn't her job to research my billing and she don't even know what she's doing. She then said that Coast charges patients whatever they want to charge, regardless of insurance, and whatever amount the insurance does not pay then the customer is stuck with. First of all, I'm an adult and I know how billing works. I'm also smart enough to review my documents because I know stuff happens like this all the time. It's FRAUD. I asked her some general dental/billing questions that she said she don't know the answers. It seemed like she just wanted to get me off the phone and became upset about her own incompetence. I would expect that a receptionist, or whatever her title is to be able to answer general questions. Once again, I've wasted another 22 minutes of my life and got no where with Coast. She should've said in advance that she didn't know how to help me. The conversation got heated as her attitude grew stronger, which triggered me. I still don't understand how someone in the service industry becomes so upset with a client for being upset. Had Coast been doing their Due Diligence by following up with me, i wouldn't have been so frustrated, but I've truly been reaching out every week and getting no help. Andrea said she will have someone call me next week, which I don't believe because this is what they've been telling me for MONTHS!! As I was expressing to her how I really need a phone call from the manager and that I'm tired of being giving the runaround, she threatened to disconnect the call because she didn't like my tone (which she did hang up). I didn't like her tone either and I damn sure don't like the service I've received. I don't plan to stop here. My concerns are valid and my issues will be resolved. RUDE STAFF. I scheduled an appt for a cleaning and called and spoke w/SIDNEY to find out the cost. She had a nasty attitude and would not give me a price. She said the hygientist will have to diagnose the type of cleaning I need. I told her I simply need a regular prophylaxis. She snapped back "the hygienst will have to determine that." Naturally, i told her to cancel my appt after being talked to so horribly. she happily complied and didnt even try making amends. if you call any other professional office,they will give you the price range of their services. what kind of establishment refuses to give a price??? i will never understand why nasty people with zero customer service skills are put in positions that can affect a company's image. read more

Georgia has been my home for five years and I've been hopping around to find a great dental location. I think I finally found it with Coast Dental, Cascade Rd. Atlanta! I really like the small group business with personal service. I went in yesterday for a new patient routine and scheduled my cleaning and a filling a week out from my first visit. I received a call the same day by Coast Dental to check if I want take a cancellation spot scheduled the next day. I accepted the next day appointment and met Hygienist, Nikki Burns. She was very positive and talked me through each step of the cleaning process. I believe this was the best cleaning I've had to date. The dental assistant and Dentist were also very professional. They took their time on sharing the best ways to take care of my teeth. I didn't feel rushed and greatly appreciate their willingness to adjust schedule appointments! read more

I called to speak to the manager about her rudeness and have yet to receive a call back. Coastal Dental Cascade office is the worst dentist office I have ever experienced. I was sent their by a Referral from my dentist to get a root canal done. Well it has taken three visit and the specialist STILL have not finish the procedure. I go today to have the root canal completed to find out they MESSED UP my appointment they scheduled and told me that the specialist was there yesterday. Now know that this specialist is only their once a month they should know there availability. This is bad professional business and a hugh inconvenience to patients. Susan Hood and her Assistant engaged in a verbal altercation while performing dental procedure on my tooth. Susan had a sharp object in my mouth. Assistant was upset Susan wouldn't let her go to lunch. Susan abruptly left me alone with the very upset Assistant. My mouth was numbed so I could only feel the yanking and twisting from the visibly upset Assistant. I was confused and afraid. I complained to Coast Dental. I was assured the Assistant was no longer there and it would be safe for me to return. When I returned her new assistant last name Green was very defensive and rude to me. Susan Hood inserted a tooth in my mouth so big my teeth shifted over the following months. I had to be fitted for a Hawley Appliance which I will probably have to wear for the rest of my life . I previously rated this office with 5 stars and now, unfortunately, I have to change that. I wanted this to be my dentist office for the long run, because I hate jumping from place to place, but I had to request a change with my dental insurance this morning (I can't wait to get rid of this HMO dental insurance- it sucks having to wait on the ins company to switch your general dentist and for everything else you have to have a referral from the general dentist to go elsewhere). Ok, so first things first- the positive: The staff are very nice and helpful. I never had an issue scheduling an appt. and they have always been friendly during my visits. I even called to attempt to move my appt to an earlier time and while they didn't have availability at that moment, they called me back when they had a cancellation to check if I wanted to move to that time. As stated in my initial review, the Endodontist here was good from that one time that I had to see her. The dental hygienist was good too based on one cleaning that I got here. Those are the reasons that I went ahead and gave this place 2 generous stars. When I went for my initial visit with the General Dentist- Dr. Wash, I only went for the basic exam to make sure everything was good after getting my braces removed. I have nothing negative to say about that visit but also nothing great to say either, as it was the typical full x-ray/ exam type of visit. After that I made an appointment for my cleaning- which went well. And I also made an appt. for my crown which I have needed for years from a root canal done when I was 19- never had any issues with that tooth after getting the "temporary" buildup (that never chipped) so I just never got the crown. I eventually cancelled the crown appt. here, honestly, because I didn't have the best feeling about getting it done here after meeting the new general dentist (Dr. Wash is no longer at this location). And now I am glad I did cancel that appointment. Fast forward to today- I went for an issue that didn't seem to appear until after my initial visit here with the General Dentist- Dr. Wash- but it could have very well been there when I got my braces removed- I just didn't notice. Although I feel as though I would have noticed it right away because I was all up in my mouth looking at my teeth everyday when my braces were removed. I even spoke with the dental hygienist about it and she did a temporary fix during the cleaning. Nevertheless, I did research- a lot of research- and scheduled me an appointment with this new general dentist- Dr. Gordon-Willis. I was told by the dentist that there is nothing that can be done other than drilling a hole in my tooth (basically creating a cavity) and then filling it. Sooo, why would I want to create a cavity that doesn't exist? Of course, I said no to that option. And according to the dentist, that is the ONLY option I have. There is absolutely nothing else that can be done. So I have researched this, and it's not an isolated issue- I guess its fairly common looking at various dentists websites (whom my current insurance doesn't cover). I also asked if there is any kind of instrument I could use other than a regular toothbrush. Her response was no- it's just something I'd have to live with if I don't want to go the drilling and filling route. Ok. And I'd have to live with it, when there are a couple of options out there for similar issues. Of course, she is the dental professional, with way more knowledge than me- but to tell me that my only option is living with it or creating a cavity...that just sounds crazy to me. She also told me that bleaching my teeth could be the cause and when I said that it existed prior to whitening, she just said no more bleaching. So, if its possible that whitening can worsen it- WHY the heck was I provided a whitening kit during my last visit for a cleaning- after speaking the hygienist about it...AND even telling Dr. Wash that I wanted to do whitening and she didn't object. So, of course I am switching and have no plans to return here. I will also be getting rid of HMO dental so that I can have more options than just the chain dentists. I guess when you get a gut feeling to go with that because upon first meeting this dentist it was something that I didn't like. Her vibe just didn't sit well with me and I started to go ahead and switch to a different dentist then but I thought "I'm just tripping- let me give her a chance. Welp, she had that chance...and aside from her "consultation" the negative vibe was still there. If your insurance allows, just go somewhere else- preferably a non-chain dentist. I previously heard about chains "creating issues" just so they will have more issues to treat- meaning more money...so I almost feel like maybe that's the case with me since my teeth were perfectly okay the days after getting my braces off- before my initial exam here. read more

I met with Dr Mantique Johnson today, and he was extremely to me today. I asked him about appointment times and told him about my encounter with Chanel and he thee me out of his office. I was mortified and humiliated. I have reported him to the Board of Dentistry for the state of GA. Stay away from this unprofessional office. Went through the process of placing a formal complaint with the headquarters, but they never responded or honored it. I went there to get some crowns that was needed badly. I should have known something wasn't right when the tech told me that they only use one type of crown (the most expensive). They told me that my dental insurance would be covering a certain amount. When I received my explanation of benefits from my insurance company and found out that they didn't cover those type of crowns for back teeth, frankly because no one would see them. I went back to the office and asked why would you suggest these crowns when they knew the insurance wouldn't cover them? The office manager told me that I selected the upgrade, I was like what upgrade, I was told that these were the only crowns that you use. Now the Tech is telling me that she said that the Dr. just doesn't like to use the other ones. I literally saw red, know dare you call me a liar , if you had offered the other (less expensive) crowns I would have selected them, because no one is going to looking in the back of my mouth. Then I found out that after three weeks the crowns had not even been made. I cancelled my contract with them and found another dentist to do the procedure for me. When I requested my money back for the crowns that were never made, it took their corporate office 3 weeks to refund my money and another 3 weeks to refund my insurance company. Probably the worst experience I have ever had @ a dentist. I made an appointment for a emergency cavity filling, and everything was set to go. I scheduled it over three weeks in advance. Fast forward I arrive to the appoint where it smelled horrible in the waiting room like old trash. Rotten food. I don't know what it was but it stank. And the receptionist came and sprayed Lysol everywhere . Then when checking in I told them I would need a cleaning. It wasn't until I was called by the assistant where I was told I wouldn't be getting any of that and I had to pay over 100 dollars for and examination. I'm like uh ok. Then I get some shotty x rays then I sit down. The doctor comes and scrapes my gums and makes them bleed, tells me I need fillings in all my teeth and that it's gonna cost almost five thousand dollars. No @ home plan no help just bill me and scrapped my gums for 125 dollars. Twas a scam if you ask me . These people were having conversations and kee keeing over my head while he was all up in my mouth. Sad to see this all black staff be so wack and uninterested and unprofessional. Please do not risk going to Coast Dental. To date I have experienced work that was incorrectly completed, a lack of plan to correct the work, possible insurance fraud, and a lack of action from the Quality Insurance person. Currently the district manager, Ronda, and the Quality Insurance manager, Allison, have refused to return my calls since asking if I need a lawyer to mediate setting an action plan. In May of 2015 I was evaluated by Gleenda Wash, who then worked at Coastal Dental located at 3660 Cascade Rd SW, Suite B, Atlanta, GA 30331. That evaluation determined that needed needed several fiilings. A plan of action was created which stated that I must work on one side at a time and wait for my mouth to "feel normal." During the course of 6 appointments (May 2015-June 2015), I endured Glenda Wash and her hygienist argue and disagree will I am numbed. At one time their disagreement lead to me being left in the chair and having to be re-numbed for her to complete the work. During the course of treatment I stated to Gleenda Wash that my mouth did not feel right and with several teeth I could not get floss between them. Wash responses to my concerns were that I needed to give it time and she used a razor like device to shave in between my teeth. After a couple of months of giving the right side of my mouth "time" to return to normal I began to experience discomfort. I return back to Coast Dental (Cascade) in October/November to be told that Gleenda Wash and the dental hygienist no longer worked for the company. Patrica Gordon-Willis completed a new examination which discovered that all the filling completed by Wash needed to be redone with many of them now requiring crowns and root canals. I notified Gordon-Willis that I was having jaw pain, tooth pain, and the left side of my mouth still needed to be addressed. After a 2 months of back a forward conversations with Coast Dental Cooperate and the district manager they agreed let me see the root canal specialist, Cordela Mills. I was told that Mills would have a background of my issue, however that was the case. Mills did not view my most recent X-rays while she completed her examination was not informed that several teeth now required crowns. She verbal stated that any tooth requiring a crown would possible need a root canal as well, due to the "trauma" that the tooth would experience. She did not make these notations based on the items a received from my requested chart information. After the root canal, Gordon Willis completed the teeth #2,3,4 to be prepared for crowns. When I was set to return for my permeant crowns I was told that Gordon-Willis no longer worked with the company and Diana Tonoukouin would not complete the needed work. Diana Tonoukouin cemented #2 and #3 and have to make corrections for #4 and resent it to the lab because there were gaps. Diana Tonoukouin stated that she would notify me when the permeant crown was ready, however I have not heard anything to date. read more

This "health-care provider" is the worst I have seen in 46 yrs of living. I moved to the area, filled out their new patient paperwork and made an appointment for 8am. I arrived on time and was shown to a chair at 8:25 by the hygienist. I let the her know that I had extremely sensitive teeth and have always had to have shots just to get my teeth cleaned. She said, "well, that's going to be a problem". She went on to say the doctor didn't have much time today and that she is good at her job... I assured her it wasn't doubt in her ability but it's my teeth that are sensitive, not the gums. Eventually she took x-rays and asked me to wait for the Doctor. I waited for about 15 mins. and Asia Richardson, the dentist, introduced herself and asked a question about my surgical history. I replied it was well over 4 yrs ago and that I have had work done since with the approval of my Doctor, that I should be "good to go". Dr. Richardson retorted that, "I will decide if your good to go". Okay, that was off putting but not the worse. She asked about the sensitivity and after explaining it's my teeth, not the gums, she numbed the right said of my mouth, took a look at the assessment and then stopped to ask, why are we doing a clean up when you need antibiotics. I asked, "what would that entail" and she replied, "WHAT PART OF ANITBIOTICS DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?" -- I was floored but inquired, "well, are they topical or pills or other type? How much do they cost? Why do I need them...?" She said the name of the product she wanted to use and I have used them before. She sent the hygienist to write another treatment plan for me to sign and left the area. A few minutes later the hygienist came back with a quote for the product that was for $89 x 4 plus the cleaning I was about to receive. I told her it seemed to much to me... when I had the same treatment in April 2011 and it was $35. x 4. I asked her about the numbers and why it was so much. She said she would talk to the doctor and came back a few minutes later. She said they weren't going to treat me and asked me to leave or make another appointment. It was 9am and they had another customer waiting. I am a very patient, calm and happy person. My expectations of health care providers are that they explain what's going on with my health and simply answer my questions as well as they can. It would seem to me that Dr. Richardson wants to be completely in charge and that the patient should simply sign the papers, be treated rather poorly and pay the bill - no questions asked. I went to a dentist 2 miles away the following week. Their treatment plan was actually $700 MORE than Coast Dental but the treatment they explained to me made sense. I paid them $1, 200 for services rendered and received GREAT care. I have to wonder if Dr. Richardson was actually treating me, or just going through the motions but her condescending attitude and blatant disrespect towards me was unacceptable. I have been a patient at Coast Dental Cascade for the last few years, and their service is PHENOMENAL. The front desk receptionist staff is always friendly, and I always enjoy my cleaning sessions with Latisha "Tisha," the dental hygienist. She always engages me with conversation that reflect just how genuinely passionate she is about her career, as well as her compassion towards her patients. She's very personable and makes me feel comfortable every visit. On my most recent visit, Tisha especially went above and beyond! I missed my original appointment time, but was hoping the office would be able to squeeze me in for a cleaning. Despite every patient showing up for their appointments, Tisha graciously forewent some of her lunch hour and worked me into her schedule for my cleaning. It's these types of gestures that keep me coming back. read more
