Dr. Everett Lake is the best there is! I drive from Orlando to see him - if that tells you anything. This office got me in an emergency situation right before the holidays. I know that they were completely booked, but yet they listened to the urgency in my voice (I needed a repair to my partial, that left undone would have left me with a toothless grin over Christmas vacation which would have been AWFUL!) His staff got me in to see the Doctor the very same day. The repair he did was awesome, and I looked better than before the fix. Dr. Everett is a great dentist, he has wonderful bedside manner and is incredibly knowledgeable. He is honest and will do the very best to save the tooth (if it can be saved). I don't even know where to start. If I can give them negative stars then I would. I do not recommend coastal dental to anyone... not even my worst enemies. They were extremely unprofessional, the doctor continuously spoke down to the dental hygienist to the point that she had to be transferred to another office for peace, and then they kept running late, charging incorrect amounts to me and my insurance, they do not answer the phone ever, they call multiple times in one day regarding appointments, the receptionist talk to patients on speaker in the lobby and then they talk about those patients in a negative manner and the entire staff gaslight patients. First and foremost my appointment was scheduled for 3:00 and didn't end up leaving there till 5:10. Please take note that the appointment was for a regular dental cleaning. Upon waiting in the waiting room after my arrival at 2:45, I was there, in the waiting room, till about 3:45. Why? What was the hold up? Never really found out why. I was the only patient there at that time. There was no other foot traffic whatsoever, but there were 3 workers behind the front desk doing who knows what. I was there for a simple cleaning and x-rays, as I was a first time patient. Once my name was called I was taken to the x-ray area and had those taken care of. After that I was taken to the exam room. Again, I ended up waiting there for an additional 25-35 minutes. When my teeth were examined by the technician all I could hear were numbers that were loudly expressed with negativity, making me feel uncomfortable. The first questions from the technician were how I felt about the numbers I heard, obviously my natural response was to say, "not good?" I was in an awkward position on how to respond and was not sure how on what to say. Granted, things made sense with those numbers since there are displays/posters and what not posted everywhere in the exam room. Something that made me feel super uncomfortable was to have the actual "dentist" who is supposed to traditionally look at my teeth in person appear on a large screen television screen to give me any recommendations and to ask any questions I may have regarding the information given by the assistants/technicians. This whole method made me feel rather uncomfortable and not fully authenticated, as I prefer to have a physical dentist check on me personally with the assistant. As a side note, I have had never had any bad reviews about my teeth, I've always had compliments with how healthy and nice my teeth have been kept. Get this, the technician told me that I needed a to have a deep cleaning and refused to give me my regular dental cleaning that I am entitled to by my insurance that is already included in my already paid for dental insurance. This dental office/company tried to rob me by paying over $600 for a deep cleaning that was not necessary and only $150 being covered by my insurance. When I refused to pay for the deep cleaning that was necessary, I was told to wait in the waiting room to pay my $5 fee I owed to pay for a bio-hazard waste material fee used during the exam, so I did as followed. Guess what? The technician thought I had left without paying, so I ended up in the waiting room as told, and waited an additional 15+ minutes before I had to get up to the receptionist desk to report that I could no longer wait as I have other responsibilities that exceed this excessive long visit that was not planned. This is when the last person left in the office said, "oh we thought you left," which I dang well should have. I paid my petty $5 and left. After this visit I have noticed that other individuals have had similar experiences about getting recommendations for other problems/cleanings/etc that were not needed, only "recommended," as well as being uncomfortable with not having a physical "dentist" in house to take a double check on a patient's mouth. As to me photos/x-rays don't do justice like a physical check of one's mouth might be like. Nonetheless I have found a family owned and 5 star rated dental office that was able to help me a few days after this horrific experience with honest results and numbers or what not broken down to me in laymen's terms as well as my regular dental cleaning, no questions or issues whatsoever. Coast Dental is and has a bad reputation with trying to tell patients that they need certain work done that is most of the time false; based off of other reviews I have read regarding this corporation/brand. I will never return and will always give negative reviews about this brand/experience. This company is extremely careless and only worried about making money off of vulnerable patients. Very wrong. This place is a mix of futuristic "tele-dentist" services and an office that looks like it hasn't been updated since the 1960s. On top of that, it's dirty, unsanitary, and provides mediocre service. I scheduled a routine cleaning as part of my annual check-up, but the "tele-dentist" refused to do it, insisting I needed a deep cleaning instead. I explained that I have trauma from a previous deep cleaning and still wanted a standard cleaning, but they refused and tried to upsell unnecessary services. So, I walked out. To make matters worse, as I was leaving, the staff started having an unprofessional conversation about sending my refusal of service document to legal--while I was standing right there. I had been clear and direct about what I needed before my appointment, yet they still wasted two hours of my time, pushing services I never agreed to. This place feels more like a patient mill than a real dental office. They lack basic customer service skills and any sense of accommodation for patient needs. If I could give zero stars, I would. Came for an 8am appointment. Wasn't seen by doctor till 10am. Only one doctor was on with back to back appointments. I get that America's medical field all around is short staffed so I was patient. I had an apointment for a routine check up. Was seen by the doctor who just poked my teeth and apparently I have a cavity. The hygenist wasnt in and of course I wasnt aware until after the doctor seen me so I didn't even have a routine cleaning done. Basically spent 2 hrs in an office waiting to get my teeth poked. So that was great. If you want to be seen in a timely manner dont come here because you will wait a very long time. Update/addition: Came with my husband as well and its currently 1045am and he still has not been seen. Office looks like it hasnt been updated since 2000 and it is evidently dirty with rusted furniture. Im actually pretty happy I didnt get my teeth cleaned here. They had my daughter there from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and did not complete the work. They sent her home without a temporary crown and then because I questioned them, they trespassed me. I will be hiring an attorney. They shouldn't be able to practice. Unethical, immoral, and criminal is what they do! I went to the Coast Dental on Highland Street in Lakeland, Florida... It was the worst experience I've ever had getting my teeth cleaned It was an older Egyptian dentist doing the cleaning... He was absolutely brutal... He went to stick a needle in my mouth to numb. My gums, and I pushed his hand away and he said he wasn't going to use the needle. Then he forcefully put the numbing agent in my mouth It was the worst cleaning I've ever had. It was incredibly painful, very aggressive, My teeth and gums hurt for a week... I can't imagine what I would've felt like if he hadn't given the numbing agent which by the way, I've never been given a numbing agent to have teeth cleaned ever in the 60 years I've been having my teeth cleaned... This guy was brutal and you should avoid this place at all costs! I have called their corporate office and left five messages. They have not returned any of my phone calls... Save yourself the headache and choose a different dentist. I concluded a treatment plan with the north side coast office in February of 2024 and paid in full at the time of each service. On May 1st 2025 I received an email from coast demanding I pay them for unspecified services and threatening to send the matter to collections 10 days after the email was sent. I at first suspected this was a scam as it seemed completely ridiculous but decided to try and follow up with the office and find out what was going. What followed was hundreds of unanswered calls and multiple callback requests that went unanswered. I was forced to take a day off of work and show up in person to resolve the issue. Even then, having explained the situation to the office manager, I was met with nothing but deflection and refusal to accept responsibility. "I didn't work here then", "this is a corporate issue", "why don't you try calling corporate?". They even had the nerve to lie to my face and say that the phone number does not go to their office, that it instead goes to a call center. This is untrue, the phone number first rings the office and then is transferred to the call center when they don't pick up the phone. I know this because I called this line a hundred times and spoke with multiple call canter reps, many of who used the same number to try and get me in contact with the office as was their protocol for resolving these issues. The office even picked up this line a single time over the days I was calling and promised a callback that never happened, proving it does in fact go to the office phone. In conclusion, after much wasted time and extreme frustration it was determined they had misbooked an appointment time and were attempting to take me to collections for a 30$ cancelled booking fee for an appointment I never asked for. I never received an apology or admission of fault for all my wasted time and effort. If you don't want this happening to you I'd advise finding a different dental provider. read more

Incompetent & terrible customer service! I'm an active customer at Coast Dental & my wife is on my insurance. She arrived on time for her free initial exam and was told she didn't have coverage. After making her wait over an hour they finally confirmed THEY WERE WRONG and she does indeed have coverage. Then, instead of seeing her, they said "sorry we have other customers waiting now" and told her to come back another day. I paid $2,500 upfront and was told that I would be contacted once the aligned arrived. I contacted CoastDental a few weeks later to enquire about the status of the aligners and was told by the office manager there were delays due to supply chain issues. I followed up repeatedly through June 2022, July 2022, and August 2022 via phone and in-person at their Deltona, FL office location. Their medical call service is offsite and were unable to provide an update on the status of my aligners orders. No office personnel could provide the status of the aligners, or a reason why they had not arrived. In January 2023, I had a dental cleaning appointment and inquired about the status of the aligners once again. The new office manager was unable to provide a status update, but remarked that it was not normal for aligners to take this longer. When I inquired about a refund, I was told it needed to be escalated to the district manager. I followed up on February 7th, February `4th, February 20th, and February 24th on the status of my refund, but no update has been provided. CoastDental has failed to deliver the goods and services agreed upon in April 2022, and to date, they've made no attempt to rectify the situation. Before I scheduled an appointment for a special needs friend, I confirmed that they took DentaQuest, the dental provider for Medicaid. We arrived at the office and they took my friend back to the exam room. I was left out front to deal with paperwork. I was told that they would not accept DentaQuest despite their web site advertising that they did. The receptionist said "the website is outdated." Because of the special circumstance, I said I would pay for the appointment. At the end, I was charged 447.00 for a "preliminary exam and X-rays". They did not even clean her teeth and no dentist saw her. I immediately asked for a refund and was denied. After, I got home, I was searching the website for a customer service number and found that they advertised a preliminary exam and e X-rays for FREE. I have called them numerous times and they will not respond. I have emailed them with the same result. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company and if necessary I will file a complaint in small claims court. They advertised fraudulently and charged an exorbitant amount for something they advertise for free. Be smarter than I was! read more

I was trying Coastal Dental first time, wanted a cleaning, got there and they told me a exam and more had to be done, a list of things they had to do before a cleaning, they did not even look at me yet. yes, cost was over a $150, Insurance did not cover it. they finally dropped it down to panorama Xrays for $28. I said I did not need these xrays the basic would be OK. they then told me it was Florida law, I said are you kidding, show me that law,,,they said they couldn't show it. I said forget it, ordered them to give me my paper work back because they had my SS on it. they gave it to me and I left a waste of 1 hour yes......so is this the way they make money by scamming the public. I gave Coast Dental 2 stars only because Dr. Lake was fabulous. Absolutely loved him! He took me in last minute and did a great job on a broken tooth. Unfortunately, I will never go back to him with the way his office is run. The women at the front desk will only submit to one insurance company. My medical coverage has very poor dental, so I pay for a secondary coverage & I made sure Coast Dental accepted my insurance before I called then. At the office, I was told they would only submit to my primary insurance, I had to submit to any other insurance. As I'm in the chair, April comes in and says for the exam and xray, I have to pay $70, so I gave her a credit card and she had it charged. Then, after Dr. Lake examined me, April got me numbed up. She came back after a while & said I had to pay $367 for my filling & again took my credit card to go make the charge. It's very uncomfortable to be treated like that when you are already in the chair! The billing person couldn't even be bothered to check with my other insurance on what they would pay even though they are a participating dentist! After I got home, I called my insurance company and I am responsible for a total of $29.80! Coast Dental now has $437 off my money, I have to pay my credit card, and wait for who knows how long for my refund! I will never go back there & don't recommend them to anyone! read more

The worst receptionists I've ever encountered. If you call their number to set up an appointment, it will always go to voicemail after 4 rings. The way they do appointments is you leave a VM and they call you back. If you're looking for an office that will be there when you need them or give you an appointment (e.g. 2-3weeks out) you won't find them here. Asked to be squeezed in any day for 2 weeks and they still wouldn't (for routine cleaning mind you). Apparently losing a patient doesn't matter to them. Good riddance. Crooks! We called and set an appointment for a CLEANING. After sitting in the waiting room for 1 hour, they finally called my Son back. My insurance covers the visit, but they decided to add oral cancer check for a 21 year old, but I believe it was to make sure I had something to pay today. So I paid it, then they basically poked around in his mouth for 2 hours, told him he had 2 cavities, then said he couldn't get the cleaning today because he needed a deep clean and that person wasn't there. So after 3 hours (total) and $55, his teeth still didn't get cleaned! Why schedule a person for a cleaning, then say the person who does the cleaning isn't in today? Apparently the dentist office has turned into a used car lot. The pushy "sales lady" aka Hygienist, tries scaring you into thinking you need $2,000 worth of deep cleaning to treat periodontal disease or else your teeth will rot and fall out. From what I've heard this happens a lot at these offices. 15 antibiotic treatments for one mouth. 15 people!!! It's amazing they're still in there! This was after the Dentist says my teeth are healthy! Don't forget the $100 cancer screening. I can verify the poor reviews from 2015 listed here. I changed my dental insurance and only had Coast Dental as an option. Decided to go here because the South Lakeland one had "Turrible" reviews. This one was no better. Saw the doctor and told me I had a couple of small fillings that needed to be done and my teeth were very healthy (since I've been going to the dentist 2x per year since I was a teenager). Saw the dental hygenist for a routine cleaning and she refused to perform it. She said the dentist told her that I needed "Gingivitus Cleaning" at $250. They probably do scare a lot of people into getting unnecessary treatment here but I ended up just leaving without getting anything done, as I would recommend anyone do when they suggest something like this. A bit of a pain as they made me wait an hour, but in the long run, it was well worth it as I'm sure they would have made a mess of any procedure they performed. I luckily managed to go back to my previous dentist and I told them of my experience. They agreed that Coast Dental is infamous for this type of operation and are very 'sketchy'. I would highly recommend going to a professional dentist and not one that is related to a Coast Dental Practice. read more

My experience is pretty much the same as Paul J's. Went today for the first time and I am aware of some issues I need to fix with my teeth. Other than that, I have a pretty healthy mouth and had been going to my check ups regularly. Well the hygienist comes to tell me at the end of my visit that I need a $250 gum cleaning before she does any regular cleanings because apparently I "have" gingivitis yet the doctor had told me less than 10 minutes before that my everything looked great and healthy aside from a root canal and crown work that I need in 2 molars but he never once mentioned nothing about gingivitis. read more

The only good thing about this office is Dr. Everett. He is actually very pleasant but the way this office is run far overshadows his friendly demeanor. My insurance was verified before my first visit and everything was covered at no cost to me. But of course I needed a "special cleaning" that was not covered. Even though I have never had any problems with my teeth. And just like another reviewer mentioned- I was also already in the chair getting my exam when they brought out something for me to sign to pay them more money. And wouldn't you know- that cleaning actually was covered and my insurance paid them. So now I have to try to get my money back. They told me it would be 6 - 8 weeks. This was 6 months ago! I have called multiple times and heard the same thing "It should be there soon. Give it another couple weeks" and "I'll send the request again. It will be another 6 - 8 weeks". About a week ago someone told me that their office has no control over refunds and gave me the corporate number to call. Why didn't anyone give me that number sooner!? Good luck trying to reach someone at corporate- they never answer the phone and don't return calls. I can only imagine how long it will take me to get my money back. They seem perfectly happy to get paid for the same procedure twice. On a separate note- my husband went in for a new patient exam and cleaning (also covered under our insurance) too. They told him that he would need to pay for extra x rays not covered under insurance. I believe these were $15. This is before they even saw him. He said that he only wanted the x rays that are covered and they told him to come back when he has the money for the other x rays! So he just left. They lost a new patient over $15. How does that make any sense? Thankfully he never did go back, otherwise he would be in the same predicament as me. Horrible office! I don't even know how they stay in business. read more

. We are using the orthodontics and are very happy with Dr. Reynolds. I have had no issues with him, therefore I did not think we would have any issues with the dental side. Our appointment was for 11/3/2015 at 8:30 am. This was scheduled for a cleaning and then to see Dr. Reynolds. My son is receiving orthodontic care due to the shortening of his roots due to a genetic issue that can not be ignored. It is very scary and very heartbreaking to think your child will lose his teeth due to any reason at the mere age of 13. This was our FIRST visit with the dental side. Having had a good experience with Dr. Reynolds I really excepted the same with the dental. Sadly, it was not the case at all. So I filled out the paper work and gave my ID as required with the insurance card. With a stone hard cold face the girl told me the insurance had been dropped. This was the first I'd heard of it and was taken back. I inquired asking "So what does this mean for us?" Her response was "We don't have anything to do with insurance." I responded by saying "I understand that. In no way am I saying you do. What I need to know are the costs? I knew nothing about the insurance being dropped. I've received nothing. I'm not upset with you I just need to know how much this is going to cost. He still needs the word done regardless but I have to know the cost first." In no way did I think for even a moment that they were responsible for the dropping of the insurance and since I had not received anything myself in regards I was really concerned. She tightened her lips and said "I'll have to see." I do not understand what provoked this attitude. The assistant to the orthodontics side said her side was clear and I was OK, much to my relief. So I said OK and went and sat down. I immediately started calling the insurance company and my husband in order to find out if he knew anything. I went to the bathroom and came back and my son had been taken back. I asked where he was. She informed me he had been taken back already. I asked if I needed to go with him and she said no. I again inquired about the price because I had not been given one so I wasn't sure why they took him. Especially since clearly the insurance had been dropped. I repeated this again when she became defensive. I told her again in no way was I blaming them I just had no idea it had happened and I needed to know the cost. 30 minutes later I got to go back after asking a second time. She was clearly annoyed I asked again. Not having any idea as to what was going on I was sent to the back. Basically this went on the entire time we were there. With the hygienist, the dentist and the staff. What is the problem? The dentist Dr. Viviana Mora started poking around in his mouth and announced he had genitives and 3 cavities and possible a 4th and 5th one. I was not happy about that because again still no one told me how much this was going to cost. I was very worried at that time because I wasn't sure where the money would come from. In short I took him to another dentist and he has NO cavities and the genitives was merely plaque around the braces not the gums. So Coastal without my permission, treated my son, REFUSED to give me a price FIRST, treated me horribly and then told me I was a problem and not to come back! Plus they falsely were going to do treatment on perfectly healthy teeth and charge me an inflated amount for it. This was at the South Side. These people not only recommended THOUSANDS of dollars worth of dental work not needed by my husband, they also received payment from both our insurance companies (primary and secondary) as primary payments and will not return the overpayment. (This is either insurance fraud or incompetence.) This has caused issues with our insurance company. They referred me to their corporate office to address the issue. My husband has left over 35 messages in the past 3 months with no return call. The office manager of the branch will not give us any other number to call but the corporate office, which we cannot get a response from. This has been going on for several months. Very nice people to meet! The dentist and his assistant were very informative and comfortable to be around. The dentist was very sensitive to any pain that i was in, and i could tell this is his regular attitude (not just because I was a new patient). The temporary crown the assistant put together is the best fitting temp that i have had. Great place! No complaints. read more
