She led us back out into the yard and along a windy leafy path lit by fairylights through the redwoods. Words can't really do this experience justice - it's like something out of Lord of the Rings (in a good way)! At the end of the path (only 30 yards, feels further because of the twists and turns) is nestled Marilyn's yurt in a redwood clearing. Inside is a double air bed (v comfortable), 2 Layzee boys, a piano and lots and lots of space. It's huge. We were worried it might be cold but the heater took care of that. And you are literally surrounded by redwoods. Outside there's a little bench we sat on where you can gaze up at the stars through a gap in the towering trees. The only downsides are that there is no bathroom (there's an outhouse 20 yards away in the woods as well as a potty set up for nigh + access to a bathroom in the house) and you aren't allowed food in the yurt to keep animals at bay. But how often do you get to stay in a yurt in the redwoods??? And all this is only 2 miles from downtown Mendocino with restaurants etc galore... Finally, Marilyn was a great host, explaining things and providing local info when we needed it and leaving us alone when we didn't. Overall our weekend was great (and over all too soon) and we definitely hope to return...

Didn't like -step up to living room(dangerous for older people), no air conditioning , just ceiling fan. We booked the outdoor hot tub #2 for one hour on a Sunday. It's $40/person on the weekends. This was a rainy weekend early in the season, so the spa was very quiet. It was quite serene to be outside in the hot tub, with light rain falling down! There is complete privacy at the tub, but there is also a larger communal tub option as well. The sauna is also communal. One drawback is that the restroom and locker room area did not seem to have separated male/female spaces. Luckily, we had the place to ourselves besides some older women, so it was not an issue. However, I would not have loved it had it been busier. It's a small space, so heads up on that if you're going. Overall, this was a fun and unique experience to do in Mendocino. It was very relaxing and peaceful, and the price was decent for the service. I would definitely go again. Very fun!

We went on a Saturday morning in February, so the experience was peaceful, quiet, and calm. While not a whole lot of animals were out during our slot (just doing their animal thing!), we were still able to see a nice variety of species. The absolute highlight was getting to feed the giraffes at the end of the tour! They are such majestic creatures, and it was a fun, interactive activity. We finished the tour fairly quickly since many animals weren't right up against the fence that day, but it's a fantastic activity to add to your itinerary if you're spending a full day exploring the coast. You can truly tell that the caretakers value and care deeply for these animals. It's a great experience that supports an excellent cause!

You get close up views and get to feed the giraffes at the end. If possible, stay in one of their cottages - It is so quiet and relaxing AND you help to support the preserve in doing so! A win-win. The cottage is clean and the collection of art is so cool. A favorite highlight was putting on makeup while watching the giraffes go about their day. Cant wait to come back.

All of that together adds up to a sort of paradise during these hectic times. There was a big surprise in our room when we arrived and I'm attaching a picture. I had ordered some flowers for the room but what was delivered may have been the most colorful and beautiful flower arrangement that I've ever seen. We didn't know it then, but these flowers were all picked from the Inn grounds. On our way back from our Big River ride we met someone working in the garden. When we chatted it turned out that this person, Cat, had picked and arranged the fantastic bouquet that was in our room. Those flowers kind of symbolizes why we love our visits and the atmosphere at the Inn - one of growth, joy and a deep appreciation of nature. Thank you to all the staff - at the front desk, the restaurant, the room service, the garden keepers, the boat-people, even the cats. We'll be back! Oh, I forgot, on our second night we may have had the best soup ever - a thick mushroom chowder... yummy.

Francine is one of the least helpful salespeople I've ever encountered. From the moment we entered…read morethe store, it was difficult to get her attention. Once we connected, we were upfront about our budget, but she repeatedly steered us toward higher priced options and was not transparent about individual product costs. She encouraged us to apply for store credit through Wells Fargo, and I was approved for significantly more than the cost of the flooring we were considering (probably a red flag warning that they will attempt to take you for more than you want to spend). Later that week, she came to our home for a site assessment. While friendly during the visit, she remained vague about installation costs. As she left, she promised to email a detailed quote within a day or two. After a full week with no word, I had to follow up. She responded several hours later with an estimate. The product pricing stayed within what we discussed, but the labor portion was estimated, but listed as "variable," with no fixed amount or not-to-exceed" number. Additionally, she couldn't even guarantee the final cost or confirm they could complete the job. As a contractor myself (in IT), I'm accustomed to providing customers with clear, capped pricing and a promise we will complete the work before they commit, especially on installation work. Its not as if I was hiding anything from her. She had full access to the home for her assessment. If she lacked expertise to properly evaluate the job, they should have sent a more qualified person. This lack of clarity made it impossible to move forward with confidence. After sending the quote, she never followed up and I haven't spoken to her since. Overall, Francine came across as inattentive, inexperienced and unreliable. We ended up purchasing our flooring elsewhere, and based on this experience, I would recommend doing the same.
