    Alder Cottage- Living Room
    Happy F.

My family planned a 5 day visit to Fort Bragg, and I found L&L by searching the web. The images on their site are pretty true to life. Our experience with the owner was limited to email and phone mostly, and she is a bit slow to respond. Though, when she did respond she was courteous and very accommodating. We reserved the whole site, plus we brought an RV to park, which was great. It is dog friendly, just be aware of their whereabouts because there is a friendly dog on the property, plus chickens and (of course) llamas. The llamas weren't too crazy about our dogs. This place is rustic, but comfortable. We stayed in Alder Cottage with another couple with a child. The child slept on a roll-out bed in the living area. It worked out well. The large houses both have full size refrigerators. Keep in mind, Alder Cottage is best for groups to hang out, as it has a pool table, and the larger kitchen/dining area. The Garden Tower has a small fridge. My parents stayed in the Garden Tower, which was nice. It's a little more modern. Compact, but roomy enough for two. Beware of the stairs to the loft, they are very steep. Use both hands going up, and probably come down backwards to save yourself from falling forward. Seems a little dangerous to me. The tower also has a futon down stairs. A few of us used the hot tubs, which were in great condition, and had digital controls. The bathroom towels smelled musty, but that might be due to the fact that we were on the coast. They may get moist from the humidity? I do not know. Well, we ended up using our beach towel. You may want to being your own bath towels, just in case. There is a picnic table that is in the middle of all 3 houses. It was a great spot to converge. We tried eating outside for as many meals as we could. Plus, shopping at the local Safeway and cooking for ourselves saved us a ton of money. And gave us more time to visit. This spot is about 2 miles from down town Fort Bragg, and a short drive to the town of Mendocino. A short drive to many beaches. L&L is also super close to the Botanical Gardens- which was a great spot. Before going, be sure that there aren't any weddings happening during your visit. There was one on a Sunday- and my sister had to quickly change her plans to go when the wedding was not happening (in the Dahlia section). For the money- this is a great place. It comfortably suited 5 couples, plus 5 little children. And, space for an RV. In the end, everyone was pretty pleased with the space. We can recommend Lodging and Llamas.

This review is just for the llama trek, but maybe next time I will consider staying at one of the cottages.

When is "Free wifi" not free?…read more When it barely works at all... So my wife and I stayed in a pet suit, while our son was in the middle of the resort, and our daughter was at the south end. Nobody had wifi that worked well. You'd get maybe a minute or two connected, then offline. There's no AC, but the pet suite had a decent cross flow of air. The kids rooms however did not, just a small bathroom window near the front, and a sliding glass door near the back. Not really something you can securely leave open all night. The rooms themselves were clean and well maintained, offering a TV, a microwave and a mini fridge. Staff was very responsive, we called for extra towels and coffee, received them right away. Key cards seemed to be an issue for us and other guests. We had to return to the front desk several times due to non-functional cards. We saw several other guests return as well. Location is pretty nice. Right by the shore and at the south end of town. There's a handful of bikes for rent which is nice. Several places to eat well within biking distance, including a Denny's. The firepit area and BBQ's though, need to have some sort of reservation system. We had one family monopolizing one corner. All in all, a fair balance of positives and negatives except when you get to the price. You're paying on the high side, so you expect a little better. The pet room was fun though, our dog enjoyed having her own little spot to go in and out.

Oh...glad I checked, I thought I had booked this place, I had the screen shot but I never booked it? Turns out my reservation was at a different hotel and my confirmation probably went to my "junk" folder, so they didn't charge me for the missed reservation. Just as well...I went online and booked the other hotel I had found on line and with the room I wanted. We were married last month and this was our honeymoon hotel. Restaurant walking distance across the bridge, assigned parking. A very nice room, large and yes a spa tub looking out over the Pacific. We needed the soak after dinner and had a good rest, good mattress, very clean. We were up early for a look see at Glass beach (don't expect to find any glass) The view was Northwest Pacific perfect and a good easy trail too. Gotta dodge the fire's south off highway one, next stop is Pelican Inn in Muir Beach. Worth the price Thank you it was lovely Martin-Foodguy

They do offer a grab and go style breakfast with muffins and oatmeal and OJ. My tastes would prefer eggs and waffles but their lobby is somewhat limited on space so no strike against them. Some hotels don't offer breakfast. Besides, they sell wines which would go nicely on the balcony. I am unsure if they have a pool or hot tub but they do have specific rooms for dog owners and even provide them with their own gift basket... which I have never experienced before. I have a new hotel in the area and I highly recommend them.

The location is amazing with incredible views of the ocean. Whether you get a hotel room with a view or not, you are steps away from the ocean. You can soak in the views, walk along the rugged coastline, or walk down to the beach. If you walk or ride a bike a little over a mile to Otsuchi Point (a little past Glass Beach) you will have panoramic views that are breathtaking near sunset. I loved the large jacuzzi tub, sitting out on our private balcony and watching the waves and sunset, and it was very convenient to walk our dog along the old railroad path, which is flat and paved. There is a decent size fridge in the room and a microwave, which is nice. I got a good nights rest. The only downside I would say is that there is no breakfast due to Covid. There is also some street noise since it's near the road. All in all, it's a great hotel due to the location, ocean views, jacuzzi tub in some of the rooms, private balconies in some of the rooms, and that it's pet friendly. We will definitely be back!

We thought it was a saw, sounded like someone was doing renovations above our room. No 'continental' breakfast, just coffee pods and tea bags. Agree with Doreen B - rooms are shabby. Don't expect daily room service as that must now be a thing of the past. Rates don't reflect the lack of services or condition of the property. Location is fine. Not far out of town. Does have access to the beach - with a walk through a field and then a hike down a cliff. So if your up for that? There is a paved walk/bike path that runs behind the property and is heavily used. Don't expect privacy on your little deck - if you are lucky to face the ocean. Parking is slim, but there is a public parking lot right next door that you could walk over from. The staff is great. They are well aware of the properties shortcomings. Would I come back here again - no.
