Coast International Inn Anchorage I hadn't stayed here in over a decade, back from my early Slope days, and returning felt like stepping into familiar territory. The place is old, sure, but it carries its years with a certain dignity call it character. My room was clean and respectable: two generous beds, unstained carpet, a sizeable bathroom, a proper desk and chair, refrigerator, television, and a grand window that made the room feel rather stately. And with the Christmas decorations giving the place a warm, homely charm, it felt downright welcoming. For the price and the short hop to the airport, I fail to see the complaints. This was a one a night stay for me, the evening before my flight home from Anchorage. I had booked this about a week in advance, having cancelled another reservation at a different hotel that I'd had a bad experience with, at the start of my trip. I didn't spend a ton of time here, as I had driven up from Seward and checked in around 8:30 PM, checking out at 10 am the next morning. Staff was nice, room was clean and comfortable and the proximity to the airport can't be beat. One challenge: The hallways and stairs are a maze and it's a slog to your room. There's an onsite restaurant where I was able to get a to-go breakfast sandwich before my flight. Enjoyed the lobby and fireplace seating in the morning to decompress before my trip home. I'd say a one or two night stay here is convenient and comfortable. Would reserve here again if I were passing through Anchorage. read more

Too expensive for what you get. The Hyatt is cheaper and so much nicer than this hotel. They advertise "free ride" to and from the airport. If they don't have someone to drive the shuttle, they shut their phone off! I confronted the front desk lady after we had to Uber to the hotel. She claimed the driver was hitting the airport every 20 minutes. Believe me we were at the airport for almost an hour and there was no one trying to pick anyone up from the airport. This is apparently an ongoing issue. Our travel agent booked this room for us ugh! I would have read the reviews and seen that the recent reviews make this complaint quite a bit. Side note we fired our travel agent for not only booking this bad hotel, but for other things that happened while on vacation. The door on the inside of the bathroom was not clean and there was mold around the tub. This is what I would expect from a Motel 6 not a $300+ night room! We went down for breakfast and were told we needed a ticket to eat. We went to front desk to ask for our ticket and was told because we booked through someone else we didn't get a ticket. Which was fine. We didn't mind paying for breakfast, but was under the assumption it was included. The breakfast was really good. The one perk. Which is the only reason I gave them 1 star. read more

BED BUGS!!!!!!! Checked in last night by they only had upstair rooms available. No biggie but u do have 4 large bags. Clerk told me I would have to move downstairs tomorrow so that kinda sucked. Woke up this morning and had breakfast at the restaurant which wasn't bad enough hen had to move downstairs after breakfast. Checked into my room about 10:00 AM. After a day of running around and doing work on my computer I took a shower and laid down for the night. I saw something crawling on the bed and sure enough it was a bed bug. Took pictures of it and went to the front desk. THEY PRETTY MUCH ACCUSED ME OF BRING BED BUGS IN. I DEMANDED a refund but didn't get one so I moved to the Hampton across the street read more

I'm in shock how horrible this hotel is. The pictures on the website and Expedia don't match at all. Don't be fooled. The carpet was so dirty that I had to keep washing my feet, yellow brown rings around my sink and the walls are sooo thin you can hear every little thing. I asked why my room wasn't cleaned and they replaced with "you have to order it" so I asked why I was told that when checking in and of course they didn't have an answer. I'm not a big complainer and i understand most hotels here around the airport are top notch. I spent $300 a night in August! This place wasn't worth more than $70 motel. So un happy and it's my first trip to Alaska. To bad. read more

The good- 24 hour Airport SHuttle is super convenient and the nicest driver. No elevator but a gentleman was available to carry all of our bags upstairs. The front desk got a bit confused and woke one of my group up at like 2am...ugh. Not sure they compensated us for that inconvenience. The attached restaurant though did have a very nice breakfast and a friendly server who was running around like crazy. Overall it was comfortable, clean and convenient. read more

What a great place to stay! We stopped earlier than checkin time, with the plan to grab a late lunch at the attached sports bar. We stopped at the front desk and asked about the checkin time and we were told it was at 4pm, but she would check to see if there was a room ready for us. Sure enough there was a room ready and we were able to check in at 2pm. The staff in this hotel is friendly and attentive. Our room was warm, which is a huge win in November in Alaska! The junior suite was clean and filled with amenities including a mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot and two bottle of water. The bathroom has a nice shower with large counter for all your things. The shampoo, shower gel, and conditioner are full sized bottle mounted on the shower wall of quality products. We stayed four nights and this will be our go to hotel the next time we travel to anchorage. read more

We stayed at Coast because shareholder family members get a discount and we saved a heap that way. Had we paid full-price, I would have been dissatisfied with the price/quality ratio. As it is, I think we got what we paid for. On the plus side, the staff is friendly and very helpful and the common areas are VERY nice. 3 computers with printers, cozy couch and fire place, and an awesome sauna which we enjoyed immensely. Also, the location is SUPER close to the airport, in a safe location and the 24 hour airport shuttle is constantly running. This is a popular hotel amongst people who work on the slope and middle of the night stop over point for them on their way home because the shuttle runs all the time. As a result, the hallways can be a bit noisy in the middle of the night. If that sort of thing bothers you, I suggest requesting a room on the second floor at the end of the hallway. It will also afford a view of the mountains the first floor doesn't. The rooms are dated but clean. There's a terrible lack of outlets, no microwave or fridge. You can, however, request to borrow a fridge and they will provide one. Dunno where the heck you could plug it in though! LOL I had to plug my phone in in the bathroom and had to unplug the desk lamp in order to use the laptop and make use of the WIFI (good connectivity!) Anyway, I've stayed at other hotels in the same price range in Anchorage and I have to say I prefer this one. The staff is very warm and helpful, and you always see someone you know who wants to chat. This is a hotel that Alaskans (in particular, Aleuts and Slope workers) who live out of town stay at when they are in Anchorage. If you are considering moving to Alaska and want to get a feel for folks from up here instead of meeting other tourists, this is where the locals stay. The bar Pipers is also very inviting. The room comes with a coffee maker, hair dryer, soap, shampoo, lotion, and ironing supplies. Motel 6, on the other hand, doesn't offer any of that stuff... the rooms at Motel 6 may be newer, but they lack warmth and the little details Coast has. If Coast offered free continental breakfast, I'd bump up my rating to 4 stars even though the hotel is a little dated. read more

AFTER we flew into Anchorage and stayed here my (Alaskan) aunt let us know that she got bed bugs here 2 years ago!!! And now my sister and I are wishing we would have stayed somewhere/anywhere else. We paid $200 for a really gross experience. My uncle says the prefabricated hotel was built around 1978. . . and since then "has been ridden hard and put away wet." Pros: Good water pressure. Redone bathrooms. Clean sheets (I think). Nice staff. Hair dryer. Cons: Whole building smelled like smoke, like 1970s-80s-90s cigarette leftovers. Gross carpets, ceilings, drapes, etc. Really hot, stuffy room, but our air conditioner worked. I think our queen beds were doubles? No elevator. Feeling violated from the multiple bed bug reports. The Marriott across the street is about $160 more per night in the summer. read more

Do NOT book! Walked in after our cruise to say for just the night. Luckily was able to talk to the front desk manager and get out of our reservation and get a refund. When we first pulled up it looked like a cheap hooker hotel. Upon entering the wall paper was falling off the walls, no baseboards and no elevator, just stairs. Ended up staying downtown at the Hilton which was 1000% nicer and half the cost. How could this shit hole of a place get away with charging $350 a night? Well at least we got refunded. Where there for 5 min and that's all we needed for it to be a hard pass! read more

The first review is just about exactly what I was going to write. The rooms aren't terrible and even the beds are pretty comfortable - BUT, it's not among the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The last time the interior of the hotel was renovated, (with the possible exception of the lobby which is quite quaint) was probably 10-15 years ago. To get to my hotel room I have to pass by a jumbled pile of hideaway beds. Fortunately I'm not on the second floor because there are no elevators in this hotel. It's hunting/tourist season here so the rooms are over $200 a night. For that price I was expecting a lot more. A LOT MORE. Especially considering the hotel isn't in walking distance to downtown at all. It's a $15 cab ride each way. Other negatives: The coffee pot in my room still had coffee in it from the previous guest and the shower still had someones hairs in it. The room smelled clean so I know these are just minor details that someone overlooked. The hallways are also noisy and someone was in and out of their room past midnight last night and their door kept creaking loudly. It sounded as if someone was coming in and out of my hotel room all night. I think they need to oil some hinges! Positive things: Free airport shuttle, the employees at the front desk are very kind and helpful, and there's a computer that is free for guests to use that comes equipped with a printer so you can check-in for departing flights and print out your boarding pass. It's just not a good idea trusting reviews online. This hotel is old, rug is dirty, bathroom tiles shows black spots. Worse is all the people staying here are very trashy. Smoking right at the front, hanging out all night. Apparently no one closes their room doors here. They talked loudly thru the night. It's like a trailer park, except its over $150 a night in the summer! We stayed at the Millenium a block away just a few days ago which was a world better! For the value, it's halfway decent. We booked through hotels tonight and got the room for like $150 a night. I didn't expect much at that price but it was clean, comfy and all we needed to lay our heads down. However, upon arrival they didn't have our rooms booked so I slightly panicked but they worked with us. The shower was a little scary but I didn't use it lol. Convenient location to airport. We actually stayed here 3 nights. It was average priced for 4 people. The room was decent but the shower had inconsistent water temperature and pressure. There were very few electrical plugs and several had very loose connections. Our complaints were no breakfast room and the dining room was very large portions and expensive. We generally do not need a large amount for breakfast. The lobby coffee was removed 6:00 ish in the morning. Odd time, but then it cause you to have to go into the dining room. When we shared our complaints of the shower water and the lack of offering coffee/rolls, the manager was defensive. He needed to hear the customer and try to work it out. He did comp us a breakfast, but that was after we had to feel bad about stating our concerns. Ok place to stay... must work on some hotel details and the management. read more

First of all I would like to say that any reviewer who attacks the physical appearance of someone is a person who is easily upset and probably insecure and I would take their review with a grain of salt. That being said, my stay at this hotel was pretty okay. It definitely isn't the nicest place I've been but I didn't have high expectations. We were in the area for work and basically needed a bed so it was perfect for that. The bed was AWESOME, super firm, no lumps or sags. Everything was pretty clean but I still wore my flip flops. I hate hotel carpet. The hotel staff were very friendly and super helpful. One woman had a pretty dry sense of humor which I can completely appreciate. Overall I would recommend this place for a quick stop over if you aren't wanting to spend a lot of time in your room. read more

Awesome location for a overnight layover checkout time not till noon and there is plenty of space like a living room and also restaurant and bar with outside seating so you can chill till ready for your flight . The shuttle service was the best we didn't get in till 2am exhausted and it picked us up within 10 minutes ! Checking in was also very quick landed and in our room within 25 minutes ! read more

I stay here once a month on my trip to Prudhoe Bay for work. Let me start off by saying that if you're looking for the Waldorf Astoria, keep looking. This isn't it. -It's an older hotel, but the beds are comfortable and the rooms in my experiences have all been clean. The in room coffee makers suck, but hey at least there's a Starbucks in the airport. -They have the best shuttle out of all the hotels that pick up at ANC. -The guy that's almost always at the front desk when I check in has an epic beard. They've memorized my name and pull my reservation when I walk in. I don't remember the lady's name that's also sometimes up there, but she's always been friendly to me. -The clientele are mostly us oilfield workers heading to and from the north slope. Yes, most of us look rough and grizzly, but if you worked thousands of miles away from home in -60F conditions you'd look that way too. For the reviewer that called the clientele 'trashy', most of those guys are more educated and probably bring home multiple times more to their families than they do. read more

While people here talk about 'dated' and old items. I'm not as picky. Yes the hallway carpet was old. (I saw this for approximately 15 mins) Yes the Bathroom isn't 'special' just plain and a few spots on the grout/tile (I spent all of 5 minutes in here) But the room was good, the beds were soft, the TV worked. (I spent 8 hours in this area) we had an inside room so didn't hear too many issues with the airplanes and the restaurant staff was friendly. 24 Hour Shuttle was EXTREMELY nice. All in all? The 3 Star Priceline gave them was good. When we checked in (at 2am at that!) they already had everything ready for us. We did get an upper room but one of their staff took care of the luggage and no straining on my part. If you are looking for a 5 Star hotel, this isn't it, but a 3 star near the airport AND bus stop? I attended a convention at Coast International Inn and have to say that the food was out of this world good!!! Great portions and oh so good tasting! The drinks were generous pours, delightfully delicious and even though they were 5 deep at times, the staff were up to it and did very well. Everyone was helpful and very attentive. While we were a bit chaotic at times, the trained staff was not - they were spot on and very personable! The room was lovely, the bed cushy and the sitting area very nice. I didn't spend enough time in the room to say much but I was very pleased! Parking was easy and while the front desk was very busy, they were most accommodating! A special shout out to- Michael, Ramon, Lina, Cara and the Food and Bev Manager - Rock! You all were the epitome of politeness and attentiveness par excellence! A wonderful experience that was only made better by being addressed by my name - Thanks Michael! We flew in from Las Vegas to meet our friends from Chicago prior to our cruise. The staff does not know the hotel - we said we would stay on the second floor if it had a view of the water, otherwise, we would stay on the first floor since there is no elevator. The room the desk clerk gave us has NO water view and looks out onto trees. No help with restaurant ideas except to say they have a restaurant. When I went down to let them know I was very unhappy the answer I got was, "Everyone makes mistakes," and the girl who gave us the room said, "I forgot there were trees." I'm sorry we came to this place and hope NO ONE makes the same mistake of patronizing the Coast International Inn. read more

I would not go out of my way to stay here again. I can really think of nothing exceptional to say about the place, but I can think of plenty that was disturbing. For one thing, despite being "smoke free," the entire placed smelled of cigarette smoke, and not just the "wafting in the air" smell, this smell was in the walls, the floors, and the ceilings - like a dive bar or night club. Our room just plain stunk. I don't know what the deal is, but the place needs some serious fumigating. Other than that, it's tacky, run-down, unclean, and barely suitable for human habitation. It's an OK place. Not a dump, but not great. The whole place needs some sprucing up. Bed was comfortable, room was clean. Booked by room through Hotwire and the rates were descent. The place is really showing its age. It's a 2-story hotel, but it doesn't have an elevator. I was real surprised at this. Everyone staying on the top floor has to lug their heavy suitcases up and down the stairs. If you have difficulty with mobility, stay on the 1st floor. I would stay here again read more

Living in alaska is not easy or cheap. Had to fly with infant 5,000 miles to a funeral needed a layover hotel, thats all just a clean place to crash. Well this place was horrid. For over $200. we got in at 2 pm was awoken by the staff chatting it up in the hall at 7:30am! Then the shower burnt then froze you, water is all connected I think to every other room! The sheets are very rough and the pillows are round. The kind that torcher your neck because there is no give just a foot high pillow!? The maid gave me crappy looks because we asked them to talk quieter and the front desk just waved away out shower complaint. Oh did I mention the float plane noise? Spectacular! I love this place! The staff is friendly and the accommodations are well maintained. I love the free 24 hour airport shuttle. You can access the gym and the free walk-in hunting/fishing freezer 24 hours a day too. I'd recommend staying here in a heartbeat! read more

We checked out of the hotel after 1 night! It was so DATED! There was a gap between the floor and the wall to see the outside. There are spider webs above the beds. The carpet os from the 60s. This place is a hole. If you want a bathroom that is so dirty it looks like they cut firewood in there. Left early in day and came back around 5 and room has not been refreshed. Booked in Priceline and front desk had towels brought but said too bad you already paid us. I will never book Priceline again. This is not even a 1 star hotel. read more

I booked this place based on the reviews and I'm regretting every moment of it. Don't get me wrong, the shuttle service and customer service are both great. With that said, this place is dingy. There is no microwave, so we were not able to reheat the restaurant left over. The refrigerator is small and not well kept. The coffee pot is in the bathroom. That's disgusting. They should keep it on a little nook or something. The breakfast is a joke. You get a pastry and coffee. Be sure to redeem it before 10am. I never woke before 11am therefore I missed it each and every time. I had a do not disturb sign on the door yet house keeping opened the door. This hotel isn't worth it. read more

Absolutely not...before I begin, let me state that the hotel staff were wonderful. This review is not a reflection on them. The hotel itself is falling apart. Walking down the first floor hall the floor boards bounce under your feet. Our room had a hole in the floor near the window. The rooms felt dirty and outdated. You can hear through the walls.
